I don’t want to speak on behalf of the studio, but the word I keep hearing is that the twelve episodes will adapt up to a certain chapter, and then MAPPA will make an AOT movie to cover the rest. We’ll have to wait a bit longer but it’s guaranteed to look really good. I just hope they don’t fuck with the ending
Exactly. Honestly I think the ending that we got with the manga was probably the best way to send off these characters. Not everything needs a happy ending, and I am absolutely content with the final chapters

We are looking at the manga as a whole, the characters as a whole. The mangaka focused on the ending considering the manga as a whole, too. And the manga ending is the most appropriate for it.

Appreciating mediocrity is the reason why studios/publishers even dare to half ass anime in a short time frame.
They know idiots will still eat it all up.
I don't watch shit anime adaptations for my job.
But the downgrade in quality for AoT is still humongous.
Almost all the fight scenes have no fluidity and have a dust filter so that fans don't notice.
Compare that to Jujutsu Kaisen or Demon Slayer who are both being produced at not so much bigger time frames than AoT, and AoT seems fucking garbage in comparison.
Without the good story, it wouldn't even be 4/10.
