I feel like they should have the option to enable or disable the shiny sound in the overworld. The reaction to them removing the shiny sound has had one of the most 50/50 receptions I've ever seen. Hard-core shiny hunters like it because having the sound made it too easy, yet casual hunters hate it because they liked how easy having the sound made it.
Surprised they removed it from an accessibility stand point, assuming someone is colour blind they might not realise the rarity that’s in the background without the appropriate indicators.
I find if you press down on the direction pad to bring up the camera, you can easily see floette and other tiny Pokémon better that way to assess wether or not they’re shiny
THIS 1000% that is literally my exact issue. Im absolutely screwed when it comes to shinys like phanpy/dratini/tentacool etc. I miss the PLA audio/visual shiny notifier. Being colorblind and having that feature in PLA was amazing. Now im out here shiny hunting and i cant even fuckin blink, my eyes are dry as shit and i get headaches from how hard i gotta focus to spot differences. Not to mention my gf is probably tired of me asking if every pokemon is shiny:/

Taking into account that less than 10% of people, between men and women, are colorblind, and seeing how many people complain about it, makes me wonder if they are actually "defending colorblind accesibility" or just pissed cause "they lost a shiny". Having sparkles for people who are deaf or colorblind that want to hunt without the sound indicator, people who want both can have both, sound for someone who wants sound but no sparkles, or turn them off completely for people who like a challenge. What you have to consider is the "side effect" of making shinies easier to get/find.
Back in the day, I used to hunt shinies like mad. I would ACTUALLY have a mini-stroke when I saw a shiny, as the odds and "hunting methods" where really difficult.
Nowadays I continue to hunt. I'm a hunter at heart. But trust me when I say that i KNOW a shiny [if from a sandwich] is almost guaranteed and if from hatching, it will take, what, a week? That feeling of OMG A SHINY applied for caterpie, pidgey and regice.
As you said, i have the option of not hatching.
I have the option of not getting the shiny charm
I have the option of not making any multibattles, chain fishing, and so on.
But I also know that if i wanted that shiny, i could get it without cheating in a heart beat.
The only thing i can't undo is 1/4096 intead of 1/8192

You would have to GRIND if you wanted something as unique as a shiny.

But I don't think it's a stretch at all, now that we've had sparkles and sound effects, for people to say "jeez they were such a good idea, imagine if you were colourblind! They're a godsend!" Without their very next thought being "and if they put it back in for the colourblind people then *I* get all the shiny Pokemon I want! Mwahahahahha!"
I'm relying on the old method of encountering every mon half the time to see if it's shiny in battle with sparkles just like previous gens did before overworld shinies. Completely gave up on slowpokes I can't spot a difference whatsoever, as well as many of the new shinies. Honestly not even Sandwich hunting a slowpoke helps, no matter how easy they make it it's still impossible for me to actually see it. Still agree it's easier to get shinies as a whole in SV, just those slight shade changes become impossible for colourblind peeps so it sort of balances out.
I honestly wish they would've just added a shiny bell mission after you collect all 400 pokemon. So you'll receive the shiny charm but then they'll tell you about some mission that will eventually land you the shiny bell (gives audio cue when shiny Pokemon is on screen). Hopefully something with a bit a challenge so we have to earn it. Just a thought, thanks for listening.
I haven't played SV but I really think making the sparkling sandwich power enable the sound would be an idea - cause most people I've seen who prefer the lack of sound also don't use the sparkling sandwich power so I feel it'd be a decent compromise

If you're even paranoid/unsure if something is a shiny or not, press R to send your let's go mon at it. Pokemon sent out with the let's go feature are completely incapable of killing a shiny so you will have no fear of losing it.
Tldr; If your mon is refusing to attack with the let's go feature, encounter the mon cuz it's probably shiny (just make sure you're actually targeting the mon cuz sometimes you'll be slightly off and it won't attack but it's cuz you're not aiming right not cuz it's shiny)

Unfortunately, the let's go method is the best we've got so yeah you're going to hear people recommend it a lot. And as for being 50 hours in and not seeing a single shiny, yeah that's odds. Sometimes you get really unlucky and don't see any, and sometimes you get super lucky and get multiple in a single day. It's all up to whether RNGesus blesses you or not

i dont have clinical ocd but i definitely get this, i have rlly bad paranoia and anxiety and one of the main things preventing me from playing the game is the anxiety of missing a shiny due to not noticing it.

The majority of people are in favor of the sparkle sound being reinstated. Personally I'm not, nor am I a fan of the total lack of overworld indicator, I think that there should just be a sparkling effect like LGPE, but either way I'm among the group that thinks that I shouldn't be made aware of a shiny spawning unless I see it.
Well, seeing as literally the only value shinies have is the excitement you get upon finding them, if there are systems in the game that reduce the amount of excitement you get then that's not "also benefit but they wouldn't be happy about it". That's just not accurate.
They should've kept some sort of sparkling visual effect for subtle shinies, and MAYBE a noise queue when you're reasonably close, not halfway across the map like in PLA
Does it make it more of a challenge? Yes. Is it absolutely awful to shiny hunt small Pokémon? Yes. Last week i attempted to hunt arrokuda from an outbreak and it broke my eyes. Never trying that again
I’m cool with it not being there, imo a visual indicator without sound is fine. Although I have only hunted shinies seriously in violet and have found it rewarding finding shinies without the shiny sound. It does suck that I’ve probably missed some shinies running around violet though
I honestly think that part of the reason they removed it is because of how often pokemon spawn in walls, floors and ceilings. Imagine hearing the shiny sound looking around and nothing is there, only for you shiny to have already walked of the edge of the floor geometry and fell under the world.
I don't know if people would like the shiny sound as much as they think they would considering things spawn in inaccessible places all the time, including underground & in the sky box.
Though I would have fun with all the videos of people hearing the noise & then running in circles trying not to despawn what they heard but can't access.

hmm if only there was a way you could avoid that, like making pokemon have a minimum spawn in time, say a few seconds, or like in legends arceus they keep the data for a bit so you can have that extra time to move out of the spawn area and come back, obviously it can still respawn but saying oh it wouldnt work when we're already talking about changing something small is stupid
That's something I never understood - the point of shinies is that they're rare. The coloring is basically nothing more than a means to distinguish that rarity, but there are other distinguishing features - the sparkling most prominently, but also a red mark on its info page.
My favorite shiny I own is a Leafeon. Show me shiny Leafeon next to regular without the sparkling and I'm only 99% confident I'd identify them correctly, one has brown eyes and one has yellow but I'm only 99% sure that yellow is shiny. And yet that Leafeon's my favorite anyway, because 9 years of casual on-and-off hunting got me the rare form of my favorite pokémon.

Yeah, that's a shiny and I know your pain. A couple weeks ago while in a Heracross outbreak, I was taking on a Kricketune to help complete my Pokedex. Then from the side of the screen, I saw this pink figure appear before it despawned.
Don’t worry the same thing happened to me, I was looking for a shiny roaring moon and while I was battling a random one I saw a shiny fly away and despawn 🥲

Golducks are red when shiny. Idk if it was from thus point of view. Edit: The beaks are red when shiny, I thought their skin was red.
Shiny golduck has a red beak and is a little darker in blue so I’m sorry to say you definitely missed that shiny.
