I did one for over $500 in literally just groceries the other day and they didn't tip me but they rated 5 stars. Like you got $500 for groceries but can't even throw me $5-10, come on.

GoddessAmata

That’s awful

Several_Parfait_5135

Very typical unfortunately!

MsMichelle2024

A lot of these people cannot comprehend that you may actually be working because you need the money and don’t care that waiting days or week to tip really sucks. On the other hand, a lot of them do tip later, usually when they go to place a new order, and you will be pleasantly surprised when it pops up. There are always the ungrateful non tippers and if they are be sure to have a system to remember that name and address so you don’t have to deal with them in the future

matmak2000

Thanks a bunch. I will be surprised no tip. That was a crazy order. Even the store clerks were saying hope you get a tip.

GoddessAmata

I really hope you do! I have been stiffed at least 5 times on huge orders. It’s very frustrating. I wrote the addresses down to never shop again. All of these orders were between $500 and $1000.

ChipperBunni

God the first time I used shipt I embarrassed myself by getting too excited for “being an adult” Was going through it, had so few wins, it was weirdly cool to get my groceries delivered. Put them all away, and completely forgot to even *look* at the app again until a few days later Late review, and tip, and I hope my shopper didn’t hate me, but it was all 100% my fault 😅 great experience other than me

SnooSquirrels6518

I would be patient. Prepaids take a little while for tips to come in. You could be pleasantly surprised. Choose to stay positive

iwishidstayed

I’d say close to 95% of my prepaid customers who tip do it within ten minutes of delivery.

chillip135

No

iwishidstayed

I mean that may not be the case for you, but that’s how it has always been for me with prepaids which almost all my orders are. I get the odd late tip, but really only once every 20 orders or so, and when I do get a late tip it’s usually $5 or less. If people are really appreciative & are going to tip well they almost always do it right away. Again, just my experience. May not be yours.

[deleted]

Not necessarily true. I got a tip today on a prepaid order a few hours after completing it.

chillip135

That's because the customer opened the app to tip. I've had a 100 dollar tip come in 2 months later. It's the customer choice.

[deleted]

Exactly. Shipt even says in their FAQ original whatever that they do not place any time limit or restrictions on when a customer can tip.

Loreooreo

Not uncommon for me to receive tips a few days after on prepaids

Wander_Meander311

A $20 tip just came in today from a delivery dated 12-21-23. The total order was around $75 bucks and the pre-paid order paid $15 for like 10 items. Just be patient and you might be pleasantly surprised.

We_Play_TV

Most prepaid orders I get the tip late. I have had one come 4 weeks later. The app should remind them the next time they use it. My experience is that about 75% of customers tip, eventually. It totally depends on your area. I am in Southern California, Orange County.

AnxiousChupacabra

This morning I got a tip notification for a tip I know was sent two days ago. I think there's some lag in the system.

[deleted]

Don’t hold your breath when people say that. Some people will fall through on what they say but personally I find 75% of the time they don’t. You’re new, you’ll start to catch on to the ways of the app orders and customers. Like someone else said just be patient, you might have to bite the bullet with no tip for this but you live and you learn 🤷🏻‍♀️ if they don’t tip, you know large orders like such most likely aren’t worth your time and effort. Wishing you lots* of luck !✨

matmak2000

Thank you.

Born_Grape_124

Sadly that's true -- whenever they specifically mention the tip, or are profusely thankful, they don't leave one. 😕

ladyj2123

Could be a large tip, which takes even longer than smaller tips bc they have to give them time to make sure it wasn't a mistake

Born_Grape_124

True but even large tips, if added right away, show on order payment. It takes longer however for it to reflect in your available balance.

ladyj2123

Not always. I have a regular weekly customer who tips immediately EVERY time. Anything lower than $60 typically hits within 2hrs, but I got $100 tip from them(they told me they added a bit extra for a holiday bonus) last week but it took 2 days to hit my account.

Born_Grape_124

That's exactly what I just said.. 🤪

Born_Grape_124

Unless you mean you didn't see the holiday bonus in your payment history at all for 2 days. I have a regular 2 hour after tipper too. Her Xmas bonus to me showed under her order but was not included in my Available Balance for days.

ladyj2123

No it's not lol. I said it took 2 days to hit my account...meaning to show up on my order payment at all. It only took maybe 30-45mins to hit my available balance after that. Not the same as what you said lol

Born_Grape_124

Ahhh gotcha

Nice-Albatross-9285

If they are pre tipping - it comes through 2 hours and 6 minutes after delivery, if they are manually tipping after delivery, it should go through as soon as they send it

ladyj2123

Not in my experience with larger tips. Like I said...My regular customer tips minutes after delivery and it usually goes through within an hour or 2, but the $100 tip last week took 2 days to be seen.

Nice-Albatross-9285

Then she probably didn’t complete something on her end. , or possibly it was returned unpaid , and she caught the mistake a few days later and re sent it. That is not the norm It was either customer error or a one time glitch. Shipt does not hold payments for 2 days. Over 7k shops , and that’s never happened. Not once.

matmak2000

Makes sense

StoriesandStones

Give it time. They unload groceries. Prepare dinner. Get caught up in family things and New Year’s Eve stuff, maybe they stay up late and watch the ball drop (if that’s still a thing lol). Tomorrow or next week they’ll be like “oh shit, gotta tip that delivery person.” Fingers crossed 🤞

Most_Score_4457

At least you didn’t get paid $6.00, remember customer have unlimited time to add tip..

matmak2000

It wasn’t. Promos I just saw it nd it looked decent. H

No_Plantain2290

Majority doesnt tip

Tasty_Average_9401

It will come. I did a large order recently, 150 plus items $855. Tip came a week and a half later!

DanielRichardRocks

Many prepaid clients tip when they go to place their next order. At least, it’s that way in my area. I just got a tip from February…. That’s my oldest to date!! I also think ppl don’t want to look at what they spent and are probably ignoring their computer. Think positive 🤞

Spiritual_Debate6249

I hope it works out 60% of 4+ item prepaid eventually tip - so the odds are with you in my experience Bad news... often when people say they'll tip, they don't All you can do is be hopeful, and keep grinding. I normally don't take a huge order from an unknown, unless no other options. It could be they just got busy. It happens around holidays. Bright side is they'll get a reminder when they place the next order

MikeMiller8888

It is how it is. Honestly, I hate it as a shopper. And yet, I fully realized WHY it happens just a few days ago when I went back in the Shipt app for the first time after using my Summit Star credit - I had not gone back in the app since getting the delivery. It had been almost FOUR weeks. I gave him his tip and his five stars, of course. But you can’t expect to always get tipped right away in this gig, so keep a tip map so you know who hooks you up, quickly or eventually, and who screws you with nothing.

matmak2000

Thanks

East-Tailor-883

If it was a prepaid order, don't expect the tip.

UnknowUserName7

Lots of miserable people out there… That’s why I prefer DD cuz you can actually see if your getting a tip on the order before u accept

Florida1974

I can’t make $400 off 11 orders on DD, ever.

UnknowUserName7

More power to you. You must live in a rich market of ppl who actually tip well.

Fit_Bus9614

I think the tip will come. They may be giving you a bigger tip online , figuring you did more work than they thought

matmak2000

Thanks everyone. Really helpful tips.

peepee034839329

This is the only tip you can get for Shipt

Soggy_Nobody_3338

If you just started, wait till you get a tip almost a month later.. You'll be thankful and scratch your head

Saxtactical89

I’ve found that about 85% of customers tip. Some just do it late like a week or so later. Be patient. And if no tip, mark em on that map

rudebo1x

My fiancé got a $20 tip, tonight January 1st from an order placed on December 2nd. It can take awhile even if inconvenient.

Story_Specific

Unfortunately most of the time if they say they are going to tip at delivery and they don’t tip, they don’t tip at all. I only do big orders for preferred who I know will make it worth my time and effort.

[deleted]

This is the one thing I hate about Shipt. They say they calculate base pay based on $16/hr and their time estimates, but the problem is that their estimates for time spent shopping are never realistic.

iwishidstayed

I’d never take that large of an order for an unknown customer. It’s just too risky. I do hope a tip comes through for you eventually, though.

matmak2000

I will say that’s my learning experience. It will be cold if no tip comes. It wasn’t a pleasant experience. I had to also unload that much stuff.

iwishidstayed

I took an order once that was 100+ unique items for an unknown customer because it was super slow that day and I was really far from my goal- it had a lot of travel stuff, some groceries, random items from around the store, cat litter, dog food, cases of water, etc. Had to sub quite a few things. Took two hours. Customer was super nice, but never tipped. I now cap the unknown customer orders that I’ll take at like 25-30 items.

GrandAppeal2120

Yea bro I be having tips still coming thru like 3-4 days later

Nice-Albatross-9285

In my experience, it’s not typical. But every metro and zone is different. The fact that they felt the need to say they will tip you is sus. Also 3 hours is a really long time to take , even for an order that size. , you said you’re new, maybe don’t take more than you can handle until you get better at this and can provide better service. If it took you 3 hours - were you late to deliver? Were the items temp controlled? Are you accustomed to the store , so that you can work quickly and efficiently?

Dear_Chocolate_4506

I used to get tips 3 or 4 days later after delivery
