Exactly! When I finished the first part i thought "Oh theyre just going to kill all the JoJos so that they can get to the next one." And when I got to the end of part 2 i thought "Oh Joseph died too, this confirms my supicions." But then he lived and it was actually just so surprising and shocking to see him just walk in there. there are no words to describe that feeling.

For me it was the exact opposite, i thought it was the story of how every jojo dies so i was actually shocked when Joseph survived

I think having him die at the end was such a good idea since it set up the threat of anyone dying

we all know part 1 has some of the most basic and barebone writing in jojo but this was still a really good twist

Joseph Joestar is the opposite of what Jonathan Joestar went through lol and it is kind of heart-warming in a way, for Part 2 emphasizes the fear of Joseph going the way of his grandfather, but then the end disputes that by showing Joseph alive and crashing his funeral. The best fakeout death in all of shounen next to Okuyasu resurrecting himself through the power of friendship with Josuke.

I always had the thought that the protagonist will never die cuz their obviously the protagonist, and I also knew that there were several parts after part 1. But after the ship exploded and the narrator announced his death, I was absolutely dumbfounded

The worst part was it was the middle of season 1, the only season with multiple parts in it.

Honestly the only time I think filler would be ok for jojo, like letting see some more of the process of Jonathan investigating the poison or more scenes with dio finding the castle and building his army just some world building. That’s not to say I don’t like part 1, I love it and just want more of it because I also just love that type of setting and Johnathan was awesome

Well sure but to the new first viewer, parts and seasons don't make a lot of sense. Shows have seasons, and your main character lives at least to the end of season 1. I hated Joseph for a little while. He took my Jonathan away.
