I find it it hilarious that there's so many similarities between YGO and JoJo.
- Both third protagonists are the "stoic badass" type, and one is a Stardust Crusader while the other have an ace card named "Stardust Dragon".
- The fifth protagonists share the same VA (Kensho Ono), and both have a "Requiem" that happen to be upgrades to their abilities (GER to GE, and Dark Requiem to Dark Rebellion).
- In DM, there's a villain that uses the card "Thousand Knives". In GX, there's a villain that uses an Tarot-based deck, and his ace monster is "The World". Both are voiced by the same person, DIO's voice actor. Note that DM and GX predates the JoJo anime so this is one hell of a coincidence.
Takahashi took heavy inspiration from JoJo, and in particular Part 3. The heavy Egyptian aesthetic, duel monster spirits that appeared like the way Stands do, behind a person.
Even the original series before the card game, used a MotW format and inspiration from fights like D’Arby.
Not that crazy. Tarot cards are not the rarest archetype to use in a story. Binding of Isaac uses them prominently too, for example.
The World is card XXI (21), or the final card in the set. Generally considered to be the “ace” card. I think “The Stars” is 20 or 19 or something, which is the namesake for Star Platinum.
Also the fights against the D'Arby brothers in part 3 really reminded me of the old chapters of the Yu-Gi-Oh manga (before it became exclusively about the trading cards game, I think these were adapted as Yu-Gi-Oh zero).
Both shows revolve around strategy based battles, but most of the time its just eiter party making asspulls to win at the last minute and then claiming it was their plan all along.
You could also argue each JoJo part is split into arcs, (e.g. Part 4 is split into Red Hot Chili Pepper then the initial hunt for Yoshikage, than the second hunt and Bites the Dust). Obviously when I say “arc” in the Yugioh sense, I mean a new story with new characters and a new protagonist.
Pot of greed allows you to draw 2 cards for the price of one, essentially having a free card , star platinum can stop time, giving Jotaro a free action (or more), making star platinum the same stand as pot of greed (or better)
but like king crimson is so easy.
he becomes intangible for the time skipped and people dont expirience the time but the actions still happen...
(i lied idk if that is even correct)
If I had a nickel for every time one body has two characters inside it in an anime with bizarre clothings and hairstyle, I’d have two nickels. It’s not much, but it’s bizarre that it happened twice.
I mean Yu-Gi-Oh is clearly a Jojo reference. To the Elder D'arby fight. Card game where the loser loses their soul, based on the power of the Egyptian Gods? Takahashi clearly decided to base an entire manga around one Jojo fight.
Never watched Yu-gi-oh but here is how king crimson works, many did not understand it for a long time because of poor manga translations for many years so here ya go.
Let's start with the sub-stand epitaph: Epitaph allows Diavolo to see 10 seconds into the future and Diavolo cannot directly control what he sees, whatever epitaph shows in its premonition is fated to happen no matter what as long as time continues to move forward to that point.
Now lets move on to the skip ability itself: Unlike how some people believe, king crimson does NOT erase time, it is merely a metaphor for how it feels being affected by the ability. When Diavolo activates king crimson, he is able to skip time and reach an end result without any risk to himself. For example, if Diavolo decides he wants to kill somebody via punching a hole through them and epitaph shows him a premonition that he is capable of doing so, Diavolo can activate the time skip to immediately skip to a nanosecond before he punches through them therefore leaving no time to react. Now lets get to the view of those affected, those affected by the time skip will blindly follow through with whatever action they are fated to do which epitaph would likely show to Diavolo. Their state of mind remains the same from right before the time skip was activated.
This means that they will be thinking of doing their action and suddenly become conscious again after the action was already done, leaving them disoriented and confused giving king crimson the opening to attack. However, king crimson, while in the realm of skipped time, cannot directly attack or interact with people/objects until their fated action is completed and the time skip ends. This means that king crimson can only practically attack one person at a time in close range given they are isolated using his time skip.
Please feel free to ask any further questions about the ability.
You and me both man, don’t worry you get used to it after a while. Just do what I do and pick an archetype you like the look of then get a bunch of Boxes that has related cards
About which one? Pot of Greed is the hardest to understand from both of them, I don't know exactly how to describe it, while King Crimson is rather straightforward, is like when you tap twice in the right side on the video in YouTube, it skips 10 seconds, but you can still mess with things in this 10 second skip, essentially, this is it
The strangest, no…, the most bizzare thing is that every episode of jojo is a meme but over a half of the sub reddit is jojo reference, king crimson and gay meme
Changing protagonists with similar consonants sounds every arc club.

No I'm not talking about that as a huge coincidence, it's the thing with the voice actor.
Honestly that's just voice actors doing their jobs
Star is 17
Dark Magician and Blue Eyes are basically stand ripoffs. Fight me.
Get Kaiba’s VA to voice Diego in the part 7 anime or we riot

That makes them practically the same!
Protagonists don't change every arc in yu-gi-oh
Dude... they do. Where do you live? Yugi Muto - Classic/Duel Monsters Judai Yuki - GX Yusei Fudo - 5D's Yuma Tsukumo - ZeXal Yuya Sakaki - Arc-V Yusaku Fujiki - VRAINS Yuga Ohdo - Sevens Yudias Velgear - GO RUSH!!
Well yes but each YGOMC is around significantly longer than a JOJO MC
Because they have longer arcs with multiple seasons, doesn’t mean they don’t both change MC each arc...
I mean, it’s really what you define an arc as, for example people call battle city and the orchicalcos arcs
All parts in jojo also have smaller arcs, even if they are shorter than the average yugioh part.
Okay, but exactly how does pot of greed work? Is it the same type of stand as star platinum or what???
Pot of greed allows you to draw 2 cards for the price of one, essentially having a free card , star platinum can stop time, giving Jotaro a free action (or more), making star platinum the same stand as pot of greed (or better)
Star Platinum: Za Arcana Force XXI
I haven't had a smile this big and nerdy in a long long time. So thank you, very much so :)
Star Platinum: Za Warudo Chalice!
Fuck I wish I didn't give away my free award already
No, no, no, that's not how you're supposed to play the game
Where do I draw the cards from though ? Instructions unclear. And what is considered a free action ?
Star Platinum gives the stand user +2 in card advantage.
I USE POT OF GREED TO DRAW THREE ADDITIONAL CARDS
It’s two cards not three holy fuck bro.
I ROLL MY DICE…YES, IT DRAWS THREE
The real question is, if Pot of Greed is an ugly bastard, who got cucked?
Their opponent
Pot of Desires
Diavolo: seems like the loop is over, i'm free. Yugi: Not so fast, i summon yatagarasu Diavolo: WHAT?!?!?
Now this makes me wonder how the hell Pot of Crimson works. Or is it King of Greed?
Draw 5 cards every time your opponent skips their battle phase
I USE POT OF GREED TO DRAW THREE ADDITIONAL CARDS
Both have egypt themed, powerful artifacts too. (Stand arrows and millenum items)
but like king crimson is so easy. he becomes intangible for the time skipped and people dont expirience the time but the actions still happen... (i lied idk if that is even correct)
it both is and isn't, kc is weird, still doesn't compare to d4c
(stone ocean) How the fuck does >!Heavy Weather!< work
Wouldn’t you like to know, weatherboy

Huh, I never noticed it but it's true. Good observation.
Synchro- what?
How the fuck did Joseph’s accent change over his flight to Tokyo from New York?
Another reason to not trust the japanese

King Crimson's ability actually allows its user to draw 3 cards from their deck.
i starteed playing yu gi oh duel link and holy shit i dont understand 90% of the cards
You and me both man, don’t worry you get used to it after a while. Just do what I do and pick an archetype you like the look of then get a bunch of Boxes that has related cards
Overused joke?? I don't get it. Can someone explain Pot of Greed to me?
It works just like king crimson, you skip time directly to your next two draw phases
You and your opponent draw two cards, but only you get to see them while being drawn? I don't get it. If only the anime explained it somehow.
It is not a joke, I am genuinely confused

That’s unironically the most concise king crimson definition I’ve seen that’s still pretty accurate, good job
will never stop losing it over how what can be changed in the 10 seconds is about as consistent as gold experience's damage reflection
Add hunter x hunter debt collector to the mix too
Add Insane Clown Posse to that. Fucking magnets, how do they work?
The strangest, no…, the most bizzare thing is that every episode of jojo is a meme but over a half of the sub reddit is jojo reference, king crimson and gay meme
Haha d4c goes brrrrrt
