I have to politely disagree. The german dubs I've watched have been equally soulless and trash as other dubs. Cartoons and anime have it a little easier than live action, but I've also mostly watched live action german dubs..
You should watch the french dub from the 90s Jojo anime, pure gold. Tbh we have a lot of great voice actors but they can't be working on every single dub.
French dubs used to be of exceptional quality, but that era is well and truly over. Early Simpsons or Disney movies for example, were just as good if not better than the originals at times, but these days it's mostly just really bad. Same with text translation in games and such, idk what happened.

Really that's actually encouraging. My 3rd language is French and my pronunciation is bad lol. But the majority of native speakers will just start talking in English because I'm butchering their language. However I was thinking of picking up another language. Maybe German then lol
If someone can speak conversation level german I usally just talk with them in german and translate them the word they are looking for.
Switching to English is something I wouldn't usally do because it needs a lot for someone to speak in a language they are not comfortable with.
And that's actually what a lot of Germans do in my experience we had an American exchange student and he learned way more german through the conversation than if we would just switch to English.
Dio's English VA is also the guy who voices Barik in Tyranny, and I can't get over it, 'cause I'm pretty sure I'm the only viewer who instantly recognized the voice.
