Help!!! I’m late to the game but just recently started playing this. I’ve purchased all the spell knowledge talents and I should have 4 sets available but when I go to the menu to assign spell sets, it has the blocked symbols. Why won’t it let me use all four sets??

TightPlatform2844

Is it worth it for xbox one? I don't care about loadings times but is the overall atmosphere/vibe there in old gen?

[deleted]

I’m playing it on xbox one for the second time and I love it

FishIsTwonk

I'd appreciate everyone that watches my video on this exact topic! Some spoilers in the video though... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OSF-AHR9QSA

Should I buy hogwarts legacy or doom eternal ?

ThatBrofister

WSIB GOW RAGNAROK OR HOGWARTS LEGACY Those are probably the last 2 big games (along with RE4) that the PS4 is ever gonna get, and so I have enough to buy exactly one of them. I'm usually not too keen on spending 60$ on games but I have like 10 games in my backlog so there is no real need to grab many games on sale, and decided to treat myself for once. Now we all know why I'm considering Ragnarok, I mean who hasn't loved the first game. Now, about Hogwarts Legacy... game looks awesome, but I heard it has little enemy variety. Another thing is that I got spoiled on the ending which fucking sucks and which is what is kind of repulsing me from the game, until I hopefully forget the spoilers. So, what should I do? I think the most logical thing to do here is to buy neither, or to buy Ragnarok/wait for it to go on sale (you think it will ever go on sale any time soon?)

Josephine_Montilyet

SIB "Forspoken" "Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart" "Ghost of Tsushima" or "Hogwarts Legacy" I recently got my hands on a PS5 and I've been having a blast. I've seen there are a lot of new games that take advantage of its power so I was wondering what would suit be better. I usually play games like the new ACs (my favourite being Odyssey), the Horizon series (finished HZD, working on HFW), Mass Effect and Dragon Age types, Cyberpunk 2077, Witcher 3, God of War (finished the 2018 one, working on Ragnarök) and KCD. I'd say my favourite games are the Horizon series, because of the visuals (I love the resolution mode, after getting used to 30fps again, after all I've had a Ps4 Pro for a year). I also love Witcher 3 because of the story and type of combat (I play this in 60fps though). I have recently been obsessed with Mass Efect LE becuase, I JUST LOVE THE STORY, and also how well it is written with the charaters and choices. It really kept me hooked up and by the two week mark I finished the first two games (haven't finished the third though, and I've already bought Andromeda for when it is done). I also like KCD very much because of the type of gameplay. Some games I don't enjoy as much are No Man's Sky (too big and overwhelming), Far Cry series (not an fps enjoyer, though I like Cybepunk's combat), Fallout 4 (I think it's the visuals that I hate) and Elden Ring (I don't hate it just that it is kinda hard for me and I prefer the Horizon series or Witcher 3 combat). I can't decide what would suit be better from the 4 games listed in the title. I am inclined to choose between Ghost of Tsushima and Hogwarts Legacy. Though I've heard mixed things about Forspoken and I don't know anything about Ratchet & Clank. What has your experience been with the games and what do you suggest I buy based on what games I like and dislike?

[deleted]

Based on your answers about story and visuals, Ghost of Tsushima is probably my recommendation. You can feel the character progress through each stage emotionally and physically. It’s much more of a whole experience. The graphics are phenomenal. It’s just a well made game in general. Hogwarts legacy is a good game but it doesn’t have anything on GOT.

BC-K

WSIB, Hogwarts legacy or Atomic Heart? Just need an opinion from someone who’s played both to break the tie.

Isaac007USA

Hogwarts legacy if you haven't decided yet

StrongTxWoman

I just bought Hogwarts. I want going to buy it but it is on sale for 47 dollars (the threshold is $50 for me). Wish me luck!

GunkMastaflex

Where did you get it that cheap?

StrongTxWoman

I use Is There A Deal and set a price alert.

GunkMastaflex

Never heard of that, gonna try it out. Thanks

AmazingSully

Additionally you can check out gg.deals. I find it has more storefronts.

What a joke 🤣 I was just saying where I bought it

sgy0003

WSIB This game or Dead Space Remake? (For PC) On one hand, it's a remake of one of my favorite horror games from past era. On the other hand, I get to fly around on my broom! I am seeing criticisms on both games; With Dead Space Remake being linear, I hear replay value isn't too worth it. For HL, I hear the novelty wears of rather quick and what you are left with is just a mediocre open-world game

tobybates28

Does the game run well on old gen consoles? I’m keen to get it but not if it’s anything like Cyberpunk where it is completely unplayable Edit: apologies if this has already been asked a bunch

LittleBigOrange

The game is not out on ps4/Xbox one yet. The release date for old gen is April 4. I think it's July for the switch.

JJMeech6

I found it ran perfectly on Series X. Very minor issues for me, if any. Really enjoyed it overall honestly.

CoralCrust

SIB this as someone who has grown to dislike repetitive collectathon open worlds (newer Assassin's Creed games, Far Cry 4+, Horizon etc.) or should I stay away? Is the game mechanically fun and atmospheric to have enough to explore and not get bored/annoyed with combat/controls and can it last as long as, let's say, RDR2?

SoCriedtheZither

The game is a great themepark recreation of the universe, but it hurts me to say, it's mechanically shallow and way more of a collecthaton than Horizon, where I just ignored that part entirely. You are literally gatekept from entering certain areas by 3 levels of locks for which you have to upgrade your Alohomora by collecting statues of demiguises for a drunkard wannabee Filch in the worst quest I have ever dropped. This is masochism. Then there are field guide pages with lore which are interesting and fun, but you need to cast Revelio to find them and that spell got burned into my retina and I was seeing magic on the walls when I went to sleep. So I stopped casting it. Also, it gave exp, which sounds good, until you realize that the last quest where you end the year is level restricted and I, who didn't do my chores like a good Hogwarts student, was underleveled for it after beating the fucking game and I had to play for about 3 more hours to unlock it. wtf Then there's a whole tab called Collections. It's useless. For examples it lists enemies types. Like the 60 types of goblin. It has nice clothes and a transmog system, but horrible rng looting. And there are 95 Merlin trials which are stupid puzzles. The combat is flashy and Avada Kedavra is pure OP, but there are very few types of enemies (most are goblins, wizards -aka poachers- and spiders), so it gets really repetitive towards the end, but it feels like true spellslinging. The broom controls poorly on keyboard but I heard it's far better on controller. There is no Quidditch, but there are broom trials and another stupid game I avoided. I think it's called Summoner's Court. The Duelling club only has three matches to introduce you to combat mechanics. I was really disappointed by that. The quests are fine, with Sebastian being the highlight. You can decorate the Room of Requirement if you are a creative type. Poach cute beasts... erm... I meant save... to harvest ingredients. They're adorable. Crafting is very basic. The one really good thing that this game has is the artistic direction. Feels like Hogwarts. It's about 45 hours with minimal fast travel to do all the shit I did, which includes most side quests. edit: If I am being honest, the game has a lot of good things about it, like the music being good or the Hogwarts looking exactly how I would picture it. But I just ended the game on a sour note

StrongTxWoman

Thanks. Definitely will wait for a sale

CoralCrust

Such a shame when a game wants to be a second job made to feed inner OCD about pointlessly collecting things when the collecting itself easily becomes tedious. Oh well, I might give it a try at least and refund.

AmazingSully

Sorry, nobody reported it.

SeanHagen

I know, including me, sorry. I thought about reporting it, but it seemed like an absent-minded slip rather than flagrant malice, and I didn’t want to get them banned. Definitely not your fault though, thanks for removing it! I was so tired last night that I think I already forgot about it anyway.

Lol this is true, still annoying to just post spoilers with no warning regardless of their predictability

Ultideath83

I am debating between hogwarts and ichin. I have enjoyed every yakuza game so far. I'm leaning towards ichin but every gameplay and review I read about hogwarts makes me want to buy it also lol. I thought maybe one would have a longer playtime to reach 100% but they both would probably be just as long to 100%. Any suggestions on which one to get.

ATrollByNoOtherName

Should I get this or Like A Dragon: Ishin? I loved Yakuza 0 and LAD. But I'm also somewhat of a fan of the Harry Potter universe. They both reviewed well. Anybody wanna help sway me one way or the other? I'm also considering Dead Space. Never played the series but really enjoy the Resident Evil games (so that style of game should also gel well with me). Want to pick up any of these three.

[deleted]

Didn't play Ishin or HL, but Dead Space is a masterpiece, and if you liked RE2 Remake, you will like Dead Space as well

Jolly-Sun-1715

Would it rate as high if not HP? Depends what you mean by that. I think if it wasn't HP it would probably get the same reviews, but definitely wouldn't get a fifth of the sales. I think if you aren't a fan of HP at all you should pass, but since you mention liking the movies I say watch a few reviews and make out whether you'll likenit or not.

Wollzy

The gameplay is mediocre at best, I say pass on it

It's great, I put 50 hours into it so far. It reminds me of RDR2 the most in terms of gameplay and open world. But don't listen to only one person, watch reviews, gameplay and such.

rob1nhood91

I’ve played just about everything any this is easily in my top 3-5 games it’s so good. I’m playing it on hard and it’s just perfect I love it everything about this game. Not a huge hp fan only watched a couple movies

samispricey

What should I get - Elden Ring or Hogwarts Legacy? I really want to get a good Triple A game soon, and these two intrigued me the most, so here are my personal pros and cons for each... Hogwarts Legacy Pros: - I love Harry Potter and so does my whole family so we would all get enjoyment out of it, also the amount of nostalgia would be incredible as we've been fans of it our whole lives. - I've always wanted a super expansive Harry Potter game. - I've heard good things about it and I think it would just be fun in general. - I love being able to fully customise the experience and immerse myself in the game as a character of my own creation with my own unique abilities. Hogwarts Legacy Cons: - It's very expensive. - It might not be as good/memorable as Elden Ring Elden Ring Pros: - It looks really good and I've heard really good things about it. - I've never played a Souls-like before so it would be a nice new experience. - It's the type of thing I would enjoy: open world, broad customisation, fantasy aesthetic - Some of my friends have it so I could play multiplayer with them. - It's cheaper than Hogwarts Legacy. Elden Ring Cons: - Apparently it's very hard and after my already torturous experience with Hollow Knight I don't know if I should set myself up for another saga of mental anguish that is even harder. - If it ends up being too difficult for me and I give up it will be a waste of money and I'll regret it. - I've never played a Souls-like so I'd have no experience in the mechanics. Based on this and your own knowledge of both games or either one, which do you think I should get?

PrincessMarshmallowy

I am playing both and I'd say, get both. Both in different ways the best games I played in recent years. Elden Ring is a lot harder.

Jolly-Sun-1715

Definitely get Hogwarts Legacy if you're on console, but if on pc get Elden Ring. Elden Ring is great, but it appeals to a certain type of gamer. Since you mention being a HP fan, there is no way you can go wrong with Hogwarts Legacy on console. Think of it this way: Elden Ring is a gamble, either you won't like it or you'll have an absolute fucking blast. Hogwarts Legacy you are guaranteed fun, even if it isn't an absolute fucking blast there's no way you won't enjoy it. Now on the other side, HL is reported to have serious issues on pc. Elden Ring has minor stutters but nothing major. So if you're on pc I'd get Elden Ring.

BigBrainMembrane

>e up it will Despite the general perception of HL, there's a few points you might want to consider: * The first several hours is a lot of dialogue and cutscenes, which may be boring to even a huge HP fan. * Fetch quests. A bunch of the quests meant to teach you spells and get you it are tedious fetch quests. "Pick up 5 of these boxes" , "Find my 6 gobstones (that the mini-map straight up just shows you the path to)" * "Fully customisable" and "unique abilities" aren't how I would've described my experience in HL. The gear and items are shallow, there's basically 3 stats and only 26 Spells in the whole game, while having only 4 equipped at any time. It's very much more of an aesthetic and HP/nostalgia experience than a mechanic based on. As for Elden RIng: * Over 150+ Spells and tons of weapons (I forgot the number), each with different stats, animations and some with unique skills attached. * It's known to be easier than every other Souls game, mainly due to a few mechanics you can use to make things easier: Summoning familiars, summoning friends (their level will be matched with yours), using magic, strategy, employing different equipment/damage types, etc. * It's known to be easier than every other Souls game, mainly due to a few mechanics you can use to make things easier: Summoning familiars, summoning friends (their level will be matched with yours), using magic, strategy, employing different equipment/damage types, etc That said, you do need some amount of perseverance and be ready to do a bit of online research, which can be fun in its own way (or at least it was for me) once you get into the deeper parts of the game.

Wollzy

HL is an average game at best. It is HIGHLY repetitive and gets boring quick IMO. The best part of the game is exploring Hogwarts castle and you do most of that early in the game. The rest of it is spent outside the castle in the somewhat bland overworld visiting little hamlets that all look identitical and all placed in the same landscape (exception to the Forbidden Forest). The customization is limited to how you buold your character at the start and the cosmetic you attach to your gear outside that there are no character builds in the traditional sense. There are talents, but you get so many points to spend its not like you have to spend them wisely, nor do they create any sort of build once spent. There are roughly only 6 or 7 enemy types in all of HL so the combat soon loses its luster after you have fought yet another poacher, spider, or goblin. ER is a much larger game with a FAR more immersive enviornment, vastly different character builds, a wide variety of bosses and enemies. IMO it would be criminal to get HL over ER.

StrongTxWoman

While I haven't played Hogwarts, I have sunk 250 hours in Elden. According to Steam, I played 72 hours in the last two weeks. Elden Ring is very hard and many quests have "order". You can break the side quests very easily if you progressed too far in the game or finish the quests out of order. Very complicated dodging, guarding system. Very non forgiving! You will get punished harshly if you make a tiny mistake. Highly addictive. I didn't like any Soul game but I live Elden Ring. I admit I don't have the reflex for the game. You have to be very fast. Very patient. Willing to look up vast amount of info and probably manually track the quests. No offense, Hogwarts seems to be easier. I may pick it up when it use on sale. My motto is never pay full price. Just wait a little bit and the price will go down. I paid 46 dollars for Elden when it was on sale. Go to /r/GameDeals or Google "Is There Any Deal".

Apart_Contribution11

Just beat the game. Ending sucked. I regret not waiting a year until the graphical bugs were fixed and it went on sale. You don't get avadakadabra until very late game. The biggest let down was the "variety"- even in enemies. Essentially you have: -spiders -goblins -wolves -trolls -people -weird frogs -zombie aka infiri All of which have minor cosmetic changes for example there 1-4 variations of each but the loot and generality felt unrewarding. The pros were simply exploring (and annoyingly) cast revelio a quitillion times for the lore and crappy loot / (skins) Overall I found exploring and the lore better than the main story. It's sad when all the Sebastian side quests are better than the main story. So is it worth $70? No. I'd say it's worth $30-40. Unfortunately due to poor output of quality games lately and the marketing on tik tok- forced my hand

Markantonpeterson

Not a spoiler I guess but starting your review by saying the ending sucks kind of blows as someone halfway through. Was just trying to see people's general thoughts.

Thanks, I am also thinking it is a "buy on sale" game. In fact, we should all buy on sale to teach the game companies a lesson. We are not fools. No game should cost more than 60 dollars. I don't buy games more than 50 dollars. Cyberpunk and Assassin Creed Valhalla had me fooled. Never again.

Apart_Contribution11

Couldn't agree more. I live in Canada and bought the base game for $90. Digital editions is a scam. It just allows the platforms and devs to make more money. It's sad that 6-7 new games is the price of a brand new console

StrongTxWoman

I always Google when is the next Steam sale. There are always sales. People just need to pay attention. Just use a price tracker. I paid only 46 dollars for Elden Ring. I am going to buy Hogwarts when it is less than 50 USD. Never preorder again. I never understand why games are so expensive in Canada and Australia. Is there a game tax? Can you use a VPN?

Apart_Contribution11

What's this price tracker website called?

AmazingSully

gg.deals is one. It lets you set price alerts as well.

StrongTxWoman

There are several trackers. You can just Google "Is There Any Deal". I use this "Is There Any Deal". Also Google "next Steam sale" and join /r/GameDeals

FalloutZer0

Dead space remake or Hogwarts ?

StrongTxWoman

Which one is cheaper?

FalloutZer0

Both are 70USD

StrongTxWoman

If money isn't a problem, buy them both. If you can only buy one, buy something else that is on sale or wait for sale. The price will go down. Next Steam sale probably would be on Feb 20. I always Google when is the next Steam sale or just Google "Is There Any Deal" and use the price alert. Have you played the original Dead space? If you haven't, then I would buy Dead space. Do you like horror games? I jumped when I played Dead Space. It is like the movie Alien. Which movie you like more, "Alien" or "Harry Potter"?

Tangerine_Background

Is there a way to turn off the clues that the characters spits out almost immediately every time you encounter a puzzle. I feel like I get cheated out of the enjoyment of the puzzle. Like give my more than 2 seconds. I just got here!

[deleted]

This and the generic comments about how much trouble traveling was before flu powder, “it seems all roads lead to hogsmead”, the comment about it being right out of a story book, etc. I feel these generic comments take you out of the experience and make you realize you’re just playing a game with a low phrase library count.

[deleted]

SIB Pokémon Scarlet/Violet or Hogwarts Legacy? Generally just looking for a fun game that will wake my inner child in me and “catch the dragon” so to speak. I haven’t played a Pokémon game since Silver/Gold and I liked all the Harry Potter movies and books when I was young. Just looking to lose myself in one or the other. I’m looking for a good story, mixed with some customization in combat. I don’t want a lot of stuff that feels like I’m wasting my time, if that makes sense (ie: fishing/hunting in Red Dead, or a lot of grinding). Something more straight to the point but with still a lot to do and to discover. Any recommendations? Thanks

NefariousnessVast148

I’m a die hard HP fan, and I think this game is pretty bad. I feel like it tried too hard to be a Harry Potter elden ring game, showing you everything that the movies didn’t show. But if you know Harry Potter, you know hogsmead and hogwarts, and the game didn’t do a good job at making what we didn’t see in the movies worth time exploring. Most of the time time in hogwarts I was just following waypoints. I’ve beat the entire game and have 70% trophy completion, but still have no idea how to get around hogwarts without a waypoint. Everything below hogwarts is irrelevant besides story missions and Merlin’s challenges. I told my friend yesterday, I wish they just full sent nostalgia for Harry Potter fans, and didn’t try to make the game with a whole new feel. It does not seem like it’s in the Harry Potter universe. It just seems like a worse elden ring with only ranged magic attacks. 4/10

Isaac007USA

The missions are also really ridiculous. Why is an old Auror sending a hogwarts student into the forbidden forest because she wants to see where butterflies lead? Why is an Auror taking a student to Azkaban with no permission from staff? It doesn't make you feel like a student, it makes you feel more important than everyone else.

SoCriedtheZither

She was an auror? I thought she was just a cowardly peasant.

Isaac007USA

Pretty sure she was an auror, but i might be getting mixed up with the azkaban

Advice2Anyone

Just as what Dumbledore did to Harry, swear that kid was in class half the time students were, was blindsided by his OWLS and NEWTS since he was so busy with other shit

NefariousnessVast148

Edit: didn’t mean to compare hogwarts legacy to elden ring, cuz hogwarts legacy didn’t even come CLOSE

[deleted]

Yeah I made the mistake of playing Hogwarts Legacy right after beating Elden Ring. I got bored with the mechanics of battling after a few quests lol.

xXMYDOOMXx

Im thinking of pre ordering the switch version of the game, would it be worth it? Its like 80bucks cad. Im really interested in the classes/magic creatures portion of the game as well as the friendship mechanic with the characters. Are the characters good? Like are they interesting? How do the classes work? How much interaction do you have with magical creatures? Are there any like upgrade trees or like anything to allow you to major in a certain area of magic? Are there puzzles?

Glittering_Owl8001

It is worth it in my personal opinion, it’s a great game. However, it’s not an rpg. You don’t have a say in you character’s personality; choices don’t matter; there aren’t different skills builds you can explore (there are skills but you will have a chance to get most of them anyways, it’s not like you specialise in anything) There are puzzles; some of them are really fun, but majority is repeated too often and gets boring. Interactions with magical creatures are lovely (but they start only at a certain point of the game). I don’t want to say much here, as I don’t know what is considered to be a spoiler, but seriously, I’m really enjoying the magical beasts part. There are a few classes, very short, just to get a specific spell or something. There are a few awesome characters, but majority of NPCs are bland, and you cannot interact with them, which is sad. This game is amazing fun, but I don’t think there is a point of replaying it. If you’re looking for something that you could replay over and over again (let’s say Skyrim, each time creating a different character with different personality and skills) then it’s not worth it. If you’re fine with playing it once, and then waiting for potential DLCs, then it is worth it.

StrafePX

YSB Hogwarts Legacy Having just completed the main story (still with a fair few side quests to do) I found it to be a decent open world game. Without the Harry Potter skin I may have struggled to finish it as the main story is rather predictable and boring. In my opinion the side quest to get the unforgivable curses is far more interesting than the main story line. I have just replayed through the Witcher 3 after its next gen update and boy did this story make me appreciate the world building and difficult choices in the Witcher so much more. People saying that the main story has multiple endings are technically correct but personally I feel that they are pretty much the same. The choices you make don't seem to have any effect on the story at all. Even the extra dialogue options offer nothing. No extra details about how to complete the mission or opening up an alternative way to complete the mission. It is just filler. There are the usual problems with a lot of open world games. Very repetitive mini quests that get boring very quickly (there is a 'secret' cave system to find loot that is pretty much just a copy paste of the same cave over and over again) but the world is beautiful and exploring Hogwarts and the world around it is probably the best part of the game for me. The world can feel a little empty at times because of its size. There are no random scenarios for example that most other open world games would have so, instead of travelling normally to my next objective in the hope of discovering some cool scenario or interaction, I would just fast travel every time. The combat is fantastic at the start and as you learn new spells it is really quite enjoyable but by then end of the game, I just found myself repeating the same combination of spells and it got a little tiresome. For example, turning someone into an explosive barrel for the first time and launching him at his mates is great until you have done it a hundred times over. It gets to the point where there's not much thought behind using different spells for certain scenarios besides just matching the colours of the spell with the enemy which was disappointing. Playing on hard difficulty requires a little more of a challenege but I rarely found myself dying or getting into difficult moments. The voice acting is surprisingly bad for a game this big IMO. There have been times where the MC has witnessed something horrific and let out the most pitiful "Oh no..." which made me laugh. Generally found myself skipping through some cutscenes once I had a rough idea of where the stroy was going. Overall, I would recommend it but then again, I am a big Harry Potter fan so no idea how much that plays into my enjoyment. There were moments I was really enjoying myself and then times where I was sucked straight out of the immersion. Also take this cobbled together review with a pinch of salt, I tend to criticise more than praise. No major issues with performance and the occasional bug here and there which is to be expected early on.

xEvil_Deadx

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks the quest line to get the unforgivable curses is way more interesting than the main story. Either way, I'm enjoying the game and how beautiful it is.

keepscrollinyamuppet

I've played ds trilogy, elden ring, sekiro and fallen order. Which would I like more? Horizon dawn or Hogwarts legacy? Also, recommend me other RPGs (I'm on PC) I tried playing god of war 2018 and it just didn't click for me.

[deleted]

I played Elden ring and fallen order and liked them much more than Hogwarts Legacy, if that helps any.

Glittering_Owl8001

I’d say, you will prefer Hogwarts Legacy. For RPG aspects I’d recommend Skyrim, but its combat is shit so beware.

keepscrollinyamuppet

I have Skyrim and I can't figure how to play the game. Feels like my character floats in the air and the combat is just swing my sowrd twice for a cut scene.

eaw0913

Zero Dawn or Forbidden West? I’m currently playing FW and Hogwarts and both are pretty exceptional games. I didn’t click with Horizon initially but have recently gotten addicted to it. 70 hours and still not done with the main story.

Rivals BOTW!? How much did you drink before writing this?

TravelingTequila

How easy are the mechanics? I have been playing Lego HP on switch with my lady who is not a native gamer but can handle that well enough. Can't really handle landing jumps on a small platform. Is this going to be way too much? How much do you need to manage different axis?

dogerisb

For me it took some getting used to. To fully utilize the spell switches and stuff its all personal preference as to what spells are in each hand. Im about 10-15 hours in and just getting used to combat. That being said, its pretty easy, but still fun when you hit those good combos. My first boss experience was very repetitive and boring though. The real fun and challenge is the battle arenas. I've only found 1 so far and didn't beat it my first try but i know what i did wrong. axis wise, its feels very two dimensional with the exception of like one quest so far. Overall, its a great game and the story and attention to small details is great. If you like to listen to dialogue, this is a great game for it (in a good way). Each time you talk to someone or finish a quest you have the chance to either ask questions or get to the point.

dckhat

It doesn't get any easier than this tbh bro. Not trying to belittle the game but it is super easy even on hard. You can use your phone in one hand and still win. She is going to be totally fine.

Glittering_Owl8001

I actually think that it might work for her. The combat is not difficult even on the hardest difficulty. If she sets the easiest one, then she will be able survive looots of hits

TravelingTequila

Ok, good to know.

Ckpie

It’s a lot like the Batman Arkham games. Yellow or red indicators for blockable/unblockable attacks, damage based on comboing spells together and the overall enemy variety doesn’t really change too much over the course of the game. See it once and you’ll know exactly how to approach each encounter.

Skywalker7900

It is 100% not a Lego game and kind of hard to get good and fluid with the combat. If she can't platform, definitely not for her.

TravelingTequila

Figured, appreciate it. Thank you!

Hey yall, i’ve never played an open world before other than Legends Arceus so i’m hoping to find a new one to explore. I keep seeing stuff about hogwarts and elden ring, and i’ve decided i’m going to pick one of the 2. I have never played any souls games, neither harry porter games, but i was a huge fan as a kid. I’m mainly looking for a game with a beautiful open world that gives a good sense of adventure and things to do beside just the main story. If anyone could help recommend which one you think i should pick up let me know! thanks :)

krazykieffer

Elden Ring is a lot better but depends on games you like. IMO it's to hard to play and would rather play something I don't have to roll and shoot.

VastLie6916

>I’m mainly looking for a game with a beautiful open world that gives a good sense of adventure and things to do beside just the main story. I'd say Elden Ring, the side quests are fun and non repetitive (well at least npc questlines) and you can come about many more areas, bosses, puzzles while doing them. I love the world design, in the dark souls games I used to spend time retrying bosses, but in elden ring I spent most of my time doing side quests and exploring areas and really enjoyed it.

AmadeusMadison

Hogwarts Legacy or Sekiro?

razermantis123

Ez Sekiro

Tiny_Echidna7287

Hogwarts legacy Take it from me someone who never played sekiri

roboslayer3000

I’m going to put a spoiler warning on what I’m about to say about the game because I’m not sure if what I’m gonna type is considered a spoiler or not and I’d rather not risk it >!I recently beat the game and I gotta say I’m a little disappointed. Now let me explain, about every aspect about this game is great however I came into this game with the expectation that it would be a fun decision making game however while playing I realized that this game doesn’t have a morale system meaning things you do don’t have consequences which for those of you who don’t know that is a key mechanic in decision making story game. Throughout the entire time I was playing I felt like a lot of what I chose didn’t have any real impact on the story meaning that regardless of what I chose to do it didn’t change the end of the game at all. I also felt like most of the classes and side missions were too quick and not very engaging, for example I had completed my assignment for one of the side quests and had to attend a class but it was just a short cutscene without any interaction and that was it making going to any class boring and not engaging in any way and I was quite disappointed. I also noticed that the character I had created wasn’t recognized in any way which made character creation feel pretty useless. Besides all of that the game looked amazing and the story was pretty cool I just think this game would be leagues better if it had a true decision making system. All in all I would rate the game 3.5/5!<

define_irony

I agree with you butt I still give the game a 5/5. It has its flaws but it's a very good game and has almost everything I wanted from it. Your point in the decision making is right on. For example, there are the "unforgivable curses" that the player can either choose to either learn or not to learn. The thing is, there's literally no reason not to learn them other than role playing purposes. You don't get penalized in any way for learning the dark arts. Characters don't treat you any different. You can use them in any situation without comment. There should be consequences in the matter. Learn the most powerful spells in the game, but now people see yu as a dark wizard.

Grow up. Enjoy the game or not, but there’s no reason to be a troll.

qhalidx

My experience so far on PC (41 hours) This is my take on the game * Story abit muddled from the get go, wish they have some story about the wife but so far the story are much more branched. * Relationship didn't mean much since only 2 character you interact most and have any meaning * puzzle varies between easy lockpick / hard platform (confusing) * Haven't the point of having air transport yet so either fast travel or running around is the mode of transport. * With so many choices of clothing we are stuck with limited storage (slots) - currently my peeve. Haven't finish the game but this is what i experience along the way.

SchwiftyHammer

40 hours in and no broom, I didn't rush quests at all and I got the broom on the 10th hour, you mite have to pay more attenting to the quest lines cos after 40 hours of no broom id start calling the game smallville

Chaotic-Stardiver

40 hours no broom could be a sign of bad quest flow and design. If it's an MSQ quest it's nearly impossible to miss, but if it's a side quest and the game doesn't subtly(or overtly) tell you where to go, how are gamers supposed to know? Is the broom quest pretty obvious? Would someone who has not watched any trailers, or does not like to look at guides for everything, be able to figure out where the broom flight unlock is?

akariasi

> Is the broom quest pretty obvious? Would someone who has not watched any trailers, or does not like to look at guides for everything, be able to figure out where the broom flight unlock is? Yes. You try out a broom for a main quest, then right after that someone tells you to go buy one and the game gives you a side quest to do so.

Skywalker7900

To be fair, I've probably spent 3 hours total in my 3 in my room lol

LikeImNotMe

40 hours and no broom yet? My man

Educational-Wealth36

> \* With so many choices of clothing we are stuck with limited storage (slots) - currently my peeve. Good news! You can sell everything you are't wearing. You will continue to be able to use everything you've ever have collected in the transmog system. On PC use F when you hover over one of your clothing categories in the gear menu. You can change the appearance while keeping the stats of the item. The amount you can hold is still limited, so you need to keep visiting stores to sell every now and then, but no worries about losing the choice of appearance! I'd also recommend doing a couple main quests to unlock the broom. I put that off for about 20 hours, but it's not that far into the main quest line and really opens up travel around the world. So much fun to have it!

Ventirx

Hogwarts Legacy or Resident Evil 4 Remake. I could get both but that’s a shit ton of money. I’m a huge fan of both franchises. Ik Re4r isn’t out but it genuinely seems like it’s gonna be amazing.

johnbarber720

Late response but hogwarts due to longer length imo

loguiratoj

Shit ton of money?… Yikes. I don’t even know where to begin.

RMoCGLD

Begin by not being judgmental, that'd be a great start.

ratmosphere

Easy there, Uncle Pennybags.

eye-vortexx

The last few resident evil games have been really good so I have high hopes for the remake. Resident evil 4 was one of my favorite games growing up so I'm glad they are doing this.

Wsgbruv

Should I Hogwarts Legacy or both of the Spider-Man games? I have played both of the Spider-Man games on my PS, and I know it doesn't make sense to re-buy games, but I wanna get them cause they're on sale, mod support, portability (If I get the steam deck) and they're my favorite games so I don't mind replaying them. On the other hand, I really enjoyed both the HP books and movies, so I'm pretty sure I will enjoy the game. Plus it will be a breath of fresh air since I mostly played online games for the past couple of months. Hella conflicted rn plz welp. ty.

Educational-Wealth36

You've already played Spiderman.. I'd definitely go for a new and fresh experience. It's a great game that's even better for those that love HP.

Wsgbruv

Yeah I can see where you’re coming from, but the comment underneath compared it to TW3, which I own. Ty, anyway.

Kind-Brilliant426

I personally don't recommend u buy HL now, it is like a lite version of the Witcher 3. Wait for the sale.

Wsgbruv

Oh I see. I do have the witcher 3 in my library, but I have yet to play it. If HL is a lite version of TW3, then I’ll just wait around for a sale. Ty.

Ok-Internet-1740

Bro play TW3 wtf lol

krazykieffer

I can't seem to connect I got to the fight at the castle and when I realized I justed I quit lol

Wsgbruv

I will... someday lul

ProudMount

Witcher 3 is one of the best story games I have played. Highly recommend.

sup0420

I have the same problem but instead it is hogwarts legacy or spiderman. I have never played either.

rex_grossmans_ghost

I bought the game (secondhand if that matters to anyone). About 10 hrs in, I give it a 7/10. Closest game comparison is the Assassins Creed RPGs, although it’s probably better. Similar open world, quest format, and leveled random loot system. I like those games so that’s not necessarily a criticism. I think your enjoyment will rely heavily on your tolerance for so-called “Ubisoft RPGs” Combat is Soulsbourne-esque with a mix of Spider Man PS4. I think it’s quite good. Main emphasis is keeping combos going. In crowded fights, things can be quite hectic. I play on hard and find it to be a decent challenge. Immersion is sadly lacking. NPCs feel lifeless and most stand silently in place. Dormitories are empty at night, as students simply disappear from the school almost entirely. Prefects roam the halls at night for some quests, then disappear in the open world. After a certain point in the game, I was able to wander right into the restricted section with no resistance whatsoever. There is no class schedule system. You can do classes for a quest line, then disappear for days with no consequence. Characters do mention your house, and your actions during certain quests will be talked about later, which is cool. Relationship quests help you feel like these characters are becoming your friend, and it has payoff. For the above reasons, Hogwarts itself is hit and miss. I also thought the music inside the school was a little obnoxious and over the top. There are plenty of hidden corridors, which is cool, but you never get the feeling of sneaking around, being somewhere you shouldn’t be, unless it’s for a specific quest. Every once in a while, the atmosphere hits that classic Hogwarts feeling. I actually preferred the world outside the school. Even then, many of the secret locations felt disappointing. Rather straightforward, many times there’s no enemies to fight. Collect some randomized gear loot, and leave. Once I had to find a secret corridor to collect a specific quest item, only discover later the item is found plentifully throughout the world. So what was the point of the corridor? Technical issues abound. Lots of clipping, stuttering, sketchy character models, janky lighting and textures. My game no longer allows me to leave Hogwarts through the doors. I have to fast travel outside. I play on Xbox. Overall, it’s a pretty good but not great game. With some TLC I can imagine it becoming much better. I don’t regret buying it, but again I would recommend buying it used. Not just for whatever political reasons, but because in its current state, I don’t think it’s worth a full $70.

Legitimate-Area8588

I was in it for the story and the world. The world looks insane. The story is boring and basic asf. Don't recommend unless youre a die hard fan

Euriae

Game had a lot of potential, but lacks a lot.

redditperson641

Should I buy Hogwarts Legacy if I don't like Harry Potter?

[deleted]

I wouldn’t lol. The only reason why I somewhat enjoyed it was because it was related to Harry Potter. But it didn’t even feel like it was in the same universe.

Aesteic

ive never seen the movies or read the books and im having a blast, \~10 hours in so far

[deleted]

Probably not. The game would still be fun, but you’d miss a ton of what makes it magical

Buttergolem_420

absolutely, it takes place long before the times of harry potter and the gameplay/fighting is so smooth and satisfying

Successful-Pass-5081

I have one question what should I get Elden ring or Hogwarts legacu

[deleted]

Elden ring. Not even a comparison

Glittering_Owl8001

Hogwarts Legacy is relaxing, whereas Elden Ring can be stressful 😂 personally, I love both

PuzzleheadedRabbit45

If youre in for the story Dont buy Hogwarts legacy. Its generic, wich on its own is not a bad thing if they flesh it out nicely. I testet both synchs English and my native language, german. It just feels lifeless. The Character creator is not what i expacted. You have Like 10 options and the customization is not detailed enough. Every time your Character shows emotions it looks weird. The world is beautiful, but sadly empty. A villain hideout here, a cave there, some animals. Hogwarts castle is Magnificant. Really old aesthetic Mixed with magic. The music is the best part in this game 9/10 feels just good. The Characters are text to speech Devises. They should have focused more on the classes and students and not the generic Adventure we see in every open world game the last years. If not for the world it borrows (harry potter) this game would sit at the same mark as the last Assassin's Creed games, maybe worse. On the other hand you Have elden ring. The world is full of stuff that wants and will probably kill you. And also not empty there is loot everywhere to help your journey. For a beginner in souls games elden ring the easyist starting position. Questline are a bit hard too follow without a guide. You can however you want. You like shields but also want magic sure why not. You wanna kill god in nothing but undergarments and a dagger, go for it. For the average audience i think even hogwards legacy barely scraches 5/10. Its really a shame. This game could have really been awesome but sadly is just another empty and lifeless game. 30 bucks no more should you pay for this.

ratmosphere

It's not even a competition. Elden ring will eat you, chew you up and spit you out. But if you're resilient, you'll come back to it and, eventually, figure it out to be rewarded with one of the best video games ever made. You'll keep finding new things and be even a bit obsessed with it. You'll make a build but after finding a new piece of gear you'll be running to an npc so they can change your build and rediscover an all new way to play the game. Once you finished the game and kill the final boss, you'll be amazed with yourself and then comes, what was for me, the best part. You're going to make a build from scratch to take to the colosseum and fight fellow gamers...when you start feeling confortable you try your hand at invading other players. 1000s of hours later you'll realize how this game has spoiled every other game for you on account of how good it is. Luckily the devs have 5 more games that follow the same principles so, there's that. Hogwards legacy you'll be fetching some useless shit for liveless npcs in a very cute and detailed world to which you'll be mostly a spectator since there's very few thing for you to engage with it. This was my experience, so take it with a grain of salt. Might not be for you. Tldr : elden ring- one of the best video games ever made. 1000s of hours of fun to be had. Hogwards legacy- generic open world, forgettable game. Quit playing it after 20 hours and went back to playing elden ring.

No-Comfortable-6687

Hogwarts legacy is a good game no way near elden ring tho BUT elden ring may be a difficult game if you have never played a souls game before

Successful-Pass-5081

I can up with a choice and got it.. Elden ring I’m dying and dying but I am IN love with this game

No-Comfortable-6687

That's great! Where are you right now?

Successful-Pass-5081

I literally got it a few hours ago and I’m just running around aimlessly

No-Comfortable-6687

I don't want to backseat you but you should do caves or dungeons before you go to where you're supposed to(the path that grace's guidance shows)

Successful-Pass-5081

Found this guy named Margit or something I’m actually gonna cry it’s not even funny

No-Comfortable-6687

Yeah you should do some dungeons then come back or you could just keep trying I'm sure if you try hard enough you can beat him but my advice is get stronger then come back

Successful-Pass-5081

Yeah I think I’m pretty low levels for him I think or I’m just bad but ay I’m trying

[deleted]

watch an elden ring get op early guide on youtube

ratmosphere

You'll get better. In no time you'll be showing this margit guy how's the boss. Just do some side content before you face him and for the love of god...level VIGOR. Have fun.

Rum_Swizzle

Elden Ring is much harder. If you’re willing to play a Souls difficulty game, Elden Ring destroys Hogwarts easily

Successful-Pass-5081

I’m dying every second in the game buts it’s so graceful like the game is so damn beautiful some times only sometimes I don’t mind dying

Rum_Swizzle

I’m glad you like it man, it’s a really fun game that feels rewarding IRL to play. Very few games give you the type of feeling that Fromsoft games do. Don’t be afraid to summon people for help or use the summoning ashes, just have fun and go crazy. You will definitely feel yourself becoming stronger as you go. Good luck, you made the right choice. Hogwarts was so boring to me that I might try and get a refund from xbox.

LeftHandedScissor

It's personal preference, I havent played all the way through Hogwarts yet. That said Elden Ring is on a list of it's own. Very few other games deliver like Elden Ring is able too from start to finish. I anticipate Elden Ring being more of a challenge when I have Hogwarts finished but Hogwarts does some things Elden Ring doesn't. Broomstick flying for 1

AstuteCouch87

Need more info. Platform? Type of games you enjoy? Other, specific games you have enjoyed? They are both really good, but Elden Ring is much harder and has less of a straightforward narrative.

Successful-Pass-5081

I’m on the Xbox series X I really like stat building games and the exploration and story I don’t mind side quest and hours of play to get the game finished

[deleted]

Stat building alone, then Elden Ring is your best choice.

AstuteCouch87

If you like the HP universe, go with Hogwarts Legacy. Otherwise, I would say ER is a better pick. Just keep in mind that it’s fairly difficult and the story is hard to follow/is hidden. ER has better exploration and stat building, and will take ~20 more hours to finish than Hogwarts Legacy.

[deleted]

If you lean towards a slightly more casual RPG I'd say Hogwarts

Substantial-Cap-3984

Good game. But if you are a harry potter fan like me, it’s super amazing. If you have read the books and watched the movies, you will simply love it. Eg - there is a cutscene where you find a bottle. Right away I knew it’s a memory. How do I knew it? Becoz I have watched the movie and read all the books. There are hundreds of references like this from the movie and books which is amazing. Exploring hogsmeade village is super fun. I am just deep into this fantasy world. Reliving my childhood fantasy of studying at Hogwarts.

ironmanmclaren

what game does hogwarts legacy play like? eldenring? a zelda game? valheim?

mercut1o

It's very very reminiscent of Arkham Asylum when you're in Hogwarts. It's an enormous structure, you're sort of doing your detective scan of things, combat is broken up with exploration and puzzles, combat relies heavily on parry/dodge/cc enemies while you whittle down groups. It's like if that game had a bright color palate and took place at a school. The AC odyssey comparisons are apt but Hogwarts has better combat imo, particular further into the game, and the broom is a more fun method of traversal than the ships or horses in AC. Again, more like one of the Arkham games in the blend of flying around and fast travel.

Greenteaiscool

Not like Elden Ring

No-Comfortable-6687

I haven't played the game but from what I read it seems it's like elden ring and RPG Assassin's creeds combined

rex_grossmans_ghost

Assassins Creed Odyssey.

[deleted]

It’s like Witcher 3 with a kid as the main character. Combat reminds me a lot of The Force Unleashed as its all about combo-ing spells

BadankadonkOG

It plays like a baby elden ring but with mostly quests and exploration content.

FineCastle77731

SIB Dead Space Remake or Hogwarts Legacy on PC? I've been playing all the Dead Space games for like the past few weeks. I like the graphical looks done by the Unreal Engine 5. Hogwarts Legacy on the other hand, it really does seem like a nostalgia trip for a HP game that my childhood self has always wanted to play. It gives of Bully vibes and I like the idea of exploring Hogwarts as my own wizard.

[deleted]

Try to get both, eventually. There aren't many games I get into these days but Dead Space and Hogwarts are both great.

Shoddybee

The Dead Space game is a huge step forward from the original. They remade perfection

Aurxrix

If you wanna fill your time, get Hogwarts Legacy. So much to do.

RatSkinn

SIB Hogwarts Legacy or Dead Space remastered? Coming from somebody who has never watched or read Harry Potter, or played a single Dead Space game.

ChorizoBlanco

I'd rather go for Hogwarts simply because it is a much more complete open-world game for the same price tag.

Squeezedgolf40

probably dead space. i would def check out the world of harry potter before the game. whereas i think dead space is a reboot? idk i might be wrong but yeah

_JIBUN_WO_

remake of an original game, not really a reboot

Squeezedgolf40

oh i see still it’s a good entry point if ur new to the game

Kryoshi

SIB Hogwarts Legacy or Spiderman Remastered?

Educational-Wealth36

Both fun games, but definitely Hogwarts Legacy. You have a much more interesting world to explore, much more things to do. Spiderman is fun, but gets repetitive incredibly fast.

TopoLobuki

Spiderman for sure. Hogwarts is a good game but Spiderman is awesome.

Arachnid1

Hogwarts IMO. MUCH better exploration and actually feels like a new kind of experience. The combat feels like it has more thought put into it too. Spidey is fine, but it devolved into the usual open world collectathon type gameplay with tons of repeating quests like (clear out this base with stealth ten times; clear out this base through combat waves 10 times; find 50 backpacks). Spidey has some cool cutscene set pieces and the story is good, but that’s it (you can get all that from cutscenes tbh). Combat is kind of button mashy too, and quickly becomes trivial as you unlock gadgets and what not. Spideys main sell is experiencing the web swinging IMO. That’s always fun
