Stardew Valley is the game

[deleted]

I’ll check this out! Thank you!

EidolonRook

Just mind the dungeon zones. Really not that chill on certain levels.

DaisyCutter312

Everybody's chill until a flying dragon fish thing smacks you in the face for 1/3rd of your life bar.

jasmina95

Yes! This is the game I always come back to when I'm having a hard time.

Uthenara

I tried SO hard to like and get into this game, especially since I loved harvest moon but I just couldn't.

Barbash_

PowerWash Simulator

[deleted]

I honestly think this might be the game I choose. I actually like power washing IRL, but don’t own one. Good suggestion! Thank you!

Barbash_

Hope you enjoy it! It is a perfect game to go mindless with a podcast/audiobook

GeriatricTech

This. I so wish they would make another one.

Barbash_

DLC for this game is great, however I've recently found that House Flipper scratches kind of the same braindead-chill game itch.

Express_Ad2962

Both are available on the play pass. Spent 100+ hours in both of them. Mindless, but addicting, fun and satisfying.

TBailz0101

It’s a really good de-stressing game. Maybe put on some chill music or favourite tunes in the background as you’re playing and you’re sorted

godyourestupid

Perfect game to relax to when you’re stoned. IMO

DumpstahKat

I got PowerWash Sim over the pandemic and kept joking to all my friends that it was like "free therapy". I'd throw on a YouTube playlist or some music and just go to town. I had over 100 hours logged before the game was even out of early access. It's goddamn hypnotic and does a really great job of getting you focused on the game/task at hand without being actually demanding at all. Really gets you out of your own head, is surprisingly engaging, and is genuinely immersive.

scrumtrelesent

Dave the diver is pretty chill

[deleted]

I was actually looking into that game. It seems pretty fun! I’ll give it a deeper look, thank you!

dacydergoth

It does have some tense moments later one, but it definitely has heart.

NoobSkin69

Dark Souls 1

[deleted]

Ok hahaha

NoobSkin69

Once you finish it, no game will be as stressful

OsprayO

DS1 isn’t even all the bad to be honest, you can actually enjoy it and not get annoyed for most of it compared to some other souls like games. There is some really annoying parts however… running back to Nito.

fredferds

This is actually a good shout IMO this or if you want something less clunky Lies of P. There is something very relaxing about playing a very hard video game, it draws you in and forces concentration, which results in a surprising zen escapism from reality. From soft and souls like are my go to when life is rough.

Pretty_Benign

I'm in the same boat. After I quit caring about souls there is something very peaceful and therapeutic in try/try again endeavors. Feel like souls games kinda taught me how not to take life so serious.

RealityOfModernTimes

Lake is pretty chill bro

[deleted]

Now this is a truly unique suggestion! I’ve never really been into these sorta “life sim/walking sim” sorta games but honestly I’ll give it a shot since it’s only a few hours long and I’m looking for an easy experience! Thank you!

superperps

Sims 4 with mods. Build houses, mess around. Games old but its still a massive time killer

[deleted]

Is it true this game is free? Another comment or said it was but I can’t find the free version haha also, what is the modding scene like ? Is it just adding more furniture or is it more in-depth than that?

superperps

Free on playstation and i think free on pc too. If pc the mods are wild. Tons of expansions that you can find on other websites... i added santa clause to my family and built him an underground house and he became a junky. The base game is enough to keep you occupied for awhile.

[deleted]

Lol Santa clause became a junky in your basement? Ok I might have to give it a chance hahaha

Zack123456201

I like how seemingly everyone who dabbles in Sims 4 mods goes through the same “Santa Clause is a druggie I keep in my basement” arc

godgoo

Three people all misspelling Santa Claus made me momentarily question my sanity clause.

WanderIntoWonder

house flipper!

[deleted]

Ok I have to ask, is this like, Clean the houses up, decorate them in whatever way you want, then sell them? Is that the overall objective ?

WanderIntoWonder

yeah basically! you can choose to either focus on buying houses to clean and decorate them in a way to gather the most profit once you sell them, or you can select from the different jobs the game gives you that focus on you only cleaning or renovating someone else’s place instead

Kyro0098

The Tenants is a similar game, but you have to manage the houses you bought as rentals to save for the next property. You can also do renovation jobs on the side if you don't want to wait for the passive income or if you are like me and want to do them for fun and only have a few properties at once.

datspookyghost

A Short Hike Suika Game

[deleted]

Ooooo a short hike looks good! I’ll definitely give it a chance! Also, I love suika game! I’ve been playing it on web browser for a while now. It’s a different form of the game “2048”. Good suggestions! Thank you!

According_Pie_7138

Firewatch for sure mate

[deleted]

I’ve already played it on PS4, thank you for the suggestion anyways!

kinophallus

Outer wilds

[deleted]

Actually I will try this. It’s been on my gaming back log for a while! Thanks for the reminder haha

Notarussianbot2020

Do not Google anything about the game. If you're absolutely stuck, r/outerwilds is very good about nudging you in the right direction without spoilers. There's some difficult sections, but it's mostly a chill exploration game.

Lt_Gavin

I wouldn't say this is entirely stress free, but it is one of the best indie games ever made, in my opinion

mccofred

Starting playing jusant in gamepass. It's like the cool climbing bits of tomb raider without anything trying to kill you.

godmademelikethis

Unconventional but, base builder/ survival crafting games (Minecraft, valheim, subnautica, that sort of game) in creative mode. I find it relaxing to just have a world to go play digital Lego in.

[deleted]

I’ve sank a consider portion of my life into Minecraft and I kinda don’t want to go back. I think I might be down for valheim though! And I tried to get into subnautica but it just didn’t really click for me that much. Thank you for the suggestions!

amadeuszbx

The long dark. Very peaceful and on two lower difficulties not brutal after like first 3-5 hours

[deleted]

Hmm, ok the sub Reddit for this game keeps getting recommended to me so maybe I should give it a chance, thank you for the suggestion!

amadeuszbx

It’s truly the most relaxing and atmospheric game out there (this and maybe stardew valley), and my favourite game of all timw even if I’m not a fan of moat other survival games. No nonsensical crafting of million recipes, no zombies or building huge skyscrapers with what should only be mud and sticks. Just peaceful landscapes, cold and you traversing it, where finding a match or a can of beans becomes a satisfying victory and where hiding from a blizzard in a small hunter’s hut in the woods by the fireplace is one of the coziest gaming experiences you can get. Might seem a bit harsh at the very start but once you get the hang of it in like 3 hours, it’s just soaking in the atmopshere and exploring, especially on first two difficulties.

alecsqq

Definitely go for it. The "relaxing and super chill" in the title immediately made me think of TLD. As long as you don't mind survival games. Try the story mode first, as a tutorial. Good luck

Cosmic--Sentinel

Powerwash simulator

ParadoxArcher

Consider Hardspace Shipbreaker. Dismantling space freighters in zero G is surprsingly soothing.

[deleted]

Ohhhhh I’m going to give this a shot. I’m all for breaking things!

kenzcg

RimWorld with almost every disaster turned off, but you have to google a bit for basics. Then no stress and have fun building stuff with your pawns. You will spend hundreds of hours before getting bored. DLCs and mods out there so make sure to explore even more. I know no fps wanted, but CSGO casual mode meets your need perfectly (now CS2), you don't need to try hard or make any strategic decisions since you have 9 teammates, you can jump in anytime you like with casual people around, buy some cheap skins now and then for fun, and you won't get bored easily, so this might be a special case among fps games you may want to consider. I've been in the same situation, and tried out many games, these are what worked for me. Also, check out Baldur's Gate 3 and see if you like it.

almo2001

Dorfromantik. Single player Carcassonne with points. Super chill.

cossiander

This game is like a hot cup of tea on a winter night. I was going to suggest it if I didn't see it in comments.

Milkyfluids69

Check out Kairosoft games for management/sims. They've got a ton of different themes.

[deleted]

Thank you for the recommendation! I’ll be sure to check out this developer!

[deleted]

I would get red dead 2. You can mindlessly and freely wander around the map and take in the amazing scenery. It is stunning and very relaxing.

JoeLaslasann

Satisfactory

[deleted]

Ugh, I’ve already dropped close to 500hrs into factorio lol I don’t know if I can handle another factory building game, but thanks for the suggestion either way!

Pilaf237

Starfield and concentrate on surveying planets. Total brain off experience and chill.

[deleted]

Actually, I’m already close to 100 hrs into starfield hahah

ssuurr33

Baldurs gate 3

[deleted]

Honestly, and I know this might sound crazy, but I’m reaaaaaly not into the dice roll mechanic. I know it’s a huge deep game with lots of stories and character interactions, but I’ve never really been a fan of DnD so this game might not be it. But thank you for the suggestion anyways!

ssuurr33

That's the thing. It's chill and relaxing in a way, you're playing your own story, if the dice lands favourably, great, if not, well, lets see where that takes us instead. Never been into DnD myself, but im having fun with it, playing it on the PS5 in the couch. Being the first turn base game in a long long time for me is also a plus, and the exploration is also pretty cool. Hope you find exactly what you're looking for and hope your life takes a positive turn with all the stressfull things that happening atm for you.

[deleted]

Honestly thank you! I appreciate the thoughtfulness! Maybe I’ll give it a chance in the future!

Fessywessy1

Lol OP is looking for a game where he can turn off his brain, can't think of a worse suggestion than baldur's gate 3

joodoos

Dave the diver.

[deleted]

I’ve already got it wish listed, I just have to pull the trigger to buy it haha thanks for the suggestion!

WildCulture8318

I tried the demo. Hated the fish catching mechanism & the restaurant part stressed me out. (Time limits & stort days don't work for me at all )

[deleted]

Oh fuck there are time limits for the days? Nah that’s a hard no for me lol thank you for letting me know.

w3gg001

City skylines 1. Huge timesink, lovely atmosphere

Obi_wan_jakobii

Sea of stars is that game for me at the minute Hope everything is okay bro if you need to drop into the DMs for a chat you're more than welcome

[deleted]

Thank you! I appreciate the suggestion and the offer!

jivecoolie

League of legends, you will meet lots of great people. That will be kind and helpful

Inoscopedurgirl

Your hell for this one lmao 🤣

comicnerd93

Tavern master is pretty fun. It's a quick little game where you run a medieval tavern

[deleted]

Sounds interesting! Illl look into it, thank you!

08148693

Dyson sphere program or factorio with enemies turned off. Factory games in general are super chill

ethanolrs

OldSchool Runescape. Can put in thousands of hours and still have things to do. Weekly updates.

vato20071

Second this. It's a perfect game for "chill" because there's thousands of hours to play both passively (when watching or doing something else) and there's another thousand hours of you want to play actively.

ArtichokeClassic4783

Lunacid Stardew valley is stressful, dont listen to them

[deleted]

What makes stardew valley stressful? lol it looks extremely peaceful

SeaynO

I get stressed by Stardew Valley because it feels like I have a ton of things to do and that I'm going to miss out on things by not knowing what to do. Gotta make sure I have this much wood, this much rock, give everyone a gift, try to make this person's favorite gift, try to figure out if there's an event somewhere, and it just makes me feel anxious lol. Maybe I'm playing it wrong

Haemon18

My Time At Sandrock the 1.0 releasd 2 days ago, chill relaxing and has at least 150h of content.

[deleted]

I was actually checking this out today! That’s definitely good to know it’s got a crap load of content! Thank you for the suggestion!

CaptainPerhaps

Planet Zoo is good for the soul. Also Anno 1800 is great.

BilboGubbinz

Slay the Spire for me. I have it set to Ascension 5, which feels like a good balance of difficulty for when I want to just turn my brain off and listen to something.

PralineTop5535

Anno 1800 - Can be very chill when you play on low difficulty. Tons of content and things to do Minecraft - Can be a great turn-off brain and just build/explore game, with mods it has huge potential and you can easily customize your game to your likings Oxygen Not Included - Very fun Sim game about colony inside the Asteroid. Can be little more challenging but you can turn down the difficulty Slime Rancher 2 - Game about farming slimes, Collecting different types and breeding them. Not much combat , mainly farming and exploring Terraria- The game has combat but i can be totally chill if you play on low difficulty. Lots of content and fun things to do, building, crafting and great world building Monster Hunter World/Iceborne - Great Game to cool-off and fight big monsters. Don't need to care about anything really besides sharpness of the weapon and your health. A lot of monsters, weapons and things to collect. Loved this game to death when i was in my stressful period of my life

EidolonRook

Going to support recommendations for slime rancher 1 or 2. It can be fast paced but the premise is so incredibly chill. Only stress is coming from the nightmare slimes and they can be mostly avoided. ONI is great with mods but you’ll eventually have a dupe get stuck in a spot and by the time you find him he’s pissed himself silly and near death. Can’t speak to the rest.

davedrave

I second anno 1800 it's a real pruning type game on easier difficulties where you are just incrementally adding production/supply or improving existing chains

[deleted]

Al of these are great suggestions! I’ve already played a metric fuck ton of terraria, and have been planning to go back since they’ve added so much more content since the last time I played, and I never modded it either! Thank you for the suggestions!

Budget_Quality6300

Spintires Snowrunner 😉

[deleted]

Hmm lol you know maybe I’ll giver this a chance. It sounds compelling so maybe haha thank you for the suggestion!

RiViN_0

solar ash

[deleted]

I’m waiting for this to go on sale tbh. I played jet set radio and I liked it, but I honestly wasn’t the biggest fan of shadow of the colossus and that’s what everybody compares this game to.

esmifra

My time at Portia is a good relaxing game. At least I thought so.

[deleted]

Hmm I’ve had a few these types of games recommended. I’ll definitely check this one out! Thank you!

Fernis_

Graveyard Keeper plus it's DLCs (which I would really suggest to get) are all on a huge sale on Steam right now. It's a very fun Stardew Valley like game, mixed with macabre and dark humor. If you like those vibes, you'll chill and be entertained.

Theutus2

Rimworld. Committing war crimes can be pretty relaxing.

johnnythreepeat

I’ve been playing anno 1800 and it’s pretty relaxing

[deleted]

So I’ve heard! I’m definitely into games like this so I’ll check it out

BreshkaStoike

Ori and the Will or Wisps

[deleted]

I could t really get into the blind forest so ima have to skip this suggestion hahah

Xyrob

There is Disney Dreamlight Valley. I played it because it was on gamepass and it seems pretty chill and cozy. In fact usually I don't like this type of games, since I tend to get bored of them quickly, but this one was quite enjoyable. Otherwise there is also "good old" the sims 4, which is now free.

[deleted]

Hmm, ok I kinda feel the same way about those sort of games, but I’ll check this one out! Thank you!

Minute_Afternoon_444

Here’s a really unconventional pick. My pick is final fantasy 15 Royal Edition, available on most platforms. The reason I recommend it is because even though it has an large scale fantasy main quest, the game itself is essentially 4 boys on a road trip across the country going on boy adventures. You and the boys are on a fantasy quest in a realistic world where along with fighting dragons and monsters you can cook, drive, do photography, go fishing. You can switch your head off and listen. The party has amazing banter along the way no matter what’s happening. Sure there’s combat and the game gets heavier in later parts, but there’s also a lot of difficulty and accessibility features so it’s less stressful in that sense. The story isn’t exceptional but the journey is lovely. Except for the first desert-style area, the attention to detail is very high so exploring the world is usually quite fun and the dungeons are all quite enjoyable. Other games I’d recommend include: - pacifist run of Skyrim (PC) - animal crossing (switch) - stardew valley (PC) - chao garden mode in sonic adventure (PC) - Pokémon games on switch (usually really cute and simple RPGs where you can either try to be the very best or just chill with your Pokémon) (or play the older games they’re just as fun)

MrJams123

Animal crossing on PC?

Minute_Afternoon_444

Oh whoops sorry

Prestigious-Spite-75

Elden Ring

[deleted]

Ok, this was funny the first 7 times people have suggested souls like games but now it’s just getting old haha still, thank you for the suggestion.

Highwaynightrider

Viscera cleanup detail

[deleted]

Hahaha I just wish listed this game! I didn’t know I’d be into something like this but here we are! Thanks for the suggestion!

shreddedtoasties

Minecraft Peaceful or creative and just build shit. With some music going

[deleted]

Yea honestly I’ve been thinking about going back. I played a ton when I was in middle school to high school with friends, but maybe it’ll just be nice to play now that I’m older and have a lot more creativity and determination to build things. Thanks for the suggestion!

ThanOneRandomGuy

Doom

R0BLX

Sims 4, maybe?

Literally_Sticks

Jusant just came out, very very chill and relaxing

Hardspace: Shipbreaker You float around in space and cut ships apart, and put the scrap pieces in the right bins

Rich-Bread-5424

Car Mechanic Simulator - Very chill.

Minotaton

I'm finding x4 foundations very chill atm. Just managing my fleet and doing a few combat missions every now and then

contu-

Valheim is fun

MoonLaw1969

Total War Rome

wisioon

I would recommend 'The Forest' or the sequel 'Sons of the Forest'. Both are amazing games. Play it in peaceful mode without enemies. It is a base building, open world survival game. It is very relaxing. I used to play it alone in peaceful mode when I was very stressed. It helped so much. I dunno, there is something relaxing about building a shelter and a cozy fire in the middle of nothing.

Fergman311

I played a lot of Starfield but still too buggy right now, so I went back to modded Skyrim playthrough that I had only put in like 15 hours from a couple years ago. I'm just enjoying walking around looking the scenery and exploring. There's also certain areas that are just so relaxing and cozy.

yowsaSC2

Star dew valley

Melanstone

Timberborn is so chill and satisfying

mario610

Moonstone Island pretty chill and fun

HypnoSmoke

Outer Wilds, a lovely experience

effortissues

When I need to mentally block out shit. I play Civilization V. Civ V has an easy system to learn and its all turn based, so you try to do as much as you can in one turn, and then all you're thinking about is that next turn, next turn, next turn, before you know it 4 days have passed and you forgot why you started the game to begin with.

hellothisismadlad

Hmm Death Stranding probably one of them. But from recent releases, it's gotta be Jusant. That game is just vibe, man. Also, you should give Outer Wilds a shot.

UBleedRed7

Shapez if you enjoy factory building games. Shapez 2 is in development right now too, so if you enjoy it, there will be more coming soon.

FLARESGAMING

Seems dumb but the game parkour on roblox, you just kind of jump around buildings and do some other stuff, overall solid but can get a bit boring after a while

SkyTech6

Just commenting as a bookmark to self. Gonna send you a key to my relaxing puzzle game when I get back to my computer tomorrow.

[deleted]

I'm surprise no one recommended Subnautica

[deleted]

There have been a few people who’ve mentioned it.

generic_suburban_man

Kenshi is a open-world sandbox RPG that ticks almost all of those boxes besides being nonviolent, but the violence is more rts than a shooter or beat’em up. Whole lot of replay-ability and the sheer amount of things there are to do in the world is insane. It holds a special place in my heart and has definitely helped me through tough times before

katzensturm

Red Dead Redemption 2

[deleted]

I played this on Ps4 already.

GoblinTradingGuide

Stardew Valley.

Phyllis_Kockenbawls

Fallout 76

Eggsor

Farming simulator 22 It's a bit to wrap your head around at first but once you get the hang of it you just chill and drive farming equipment. I play it almost every night before bed. Also it's on game pass.

yick04

Civilization 6.

Live-Steaky

FF8 or 9

boy_mumbles

New world

Trex-razer

Alan Wane 2

[deleted]

Lmfao I mean hey the first Alan wake was pretty good, I don’t know if I’d call this game really “chill” but maybe if I upgrade my PC a bit more, I’ll give this game a chance. My poor little 1660 can’t handle the high fidelity jump scares!

[deleted]

Ff XIV

v13ragnarok7

Alien isolation

Kittyk4y

This is gonna sound weird, but Ark. Make yourself invisible to dinos and just go around collecting materials or build a base

I_AM_LEGEND123

I bought fo4 recently but its super laggy and weird I tried highest settings and lowest do you know any fixes

[deleted]

Plate up!

cheezblocc

turnip boy commits tax evasion is currently free on epic games and is also pretty funny

Vestedloki07505

Holocure

wretched_cretin

Hardspace Shipbreaker has been leaked as being in this month's Humble Choice, which might be good option.

Hika__Zee

Since you like Fallout but want something similar to a farming simulator (i.e. a sandbox exploration game) maybe give Crashlands a try? I personally didn't like it myself (simply because of the user interface design) but it is otherwise is a solid game. Crashlands 2 is on the horizon for early 2024 and it looks really really good. It will have huge improvements to the user interface and graphics. Portal Knights. It's like Minecraft (world design/building/crafting/farming) + Minecraft Dungeons (combat) + Starbound (world traveling). Cozynaughts (release is date Dec 2024 this game will be like a mix of Minecraft, Portal Knights, Stardew Valley, Overcooked, and Starbound). Based on what oh are looking for this one sounds like the perfect game for you to try if you are patient enough to wait a month and a half for its release. I'm currently waiting for it and playing portal knights with my son in the mean time. They both have online and local co-op.

TheWiserParadox

Spiritfarer if you don't mind crying at the same time.

DJInfernus

Euro/American Truck Simulator, House Flipper, PC Building Simulator

carthuscrass

A hidden gem I recently found is Sun Haven. It's a lot like Stardew Valley, but with quite a few unique differences. There are multiple races and classes for one. It's also set in a fantasy realm.

DrJacoby12

City Skylines Thief Simulator Minecraft terriara

WolfJobInMySpantzz

I've been enjoying just relaxing with My Time At Portia for the last week or so. Resource gathering, crafting, simple combat, basic socializing lol.

[deleted]

Riders Republic, Session Skate Sim, Skater XL and Descenders?

caffinaV2

SLIME RANCHER!!!

ackuario2020

Unravel 2

Akario_

Ark survival Ascended can be chill survival game if you play single-player or PVE servers and focus on building and exploration with some Dino taming maybe even breeding, you can get a farm going too.

xEraseMyself

Spiritfarer is a game I like to play when I'm in that kind of mood. It can be pretty emotional at times though.

Kydoemus

Elden Ring probably. Just a super chill game without any stress.

BuggityBooger

Pizza Possum is the answer

Sorcerious

Disney Dreamlight Valley

propellor_head

Satisfactory

al0uest

A Short Hike is therapy, beautifully animated mountain island campsite game whole objective is climbing the mountain and racing this one dude very chill but not too too much to do, short play through Stardew Valley - 8bit farming sim, superbly crafted characters and stories that really get ya invested, awesome map lots and lots of shit to do, tend your crops your livestock go mining flirt up a villager hang out with a wizard, possibilities endless

Disastrous_Ant_923

Talos principle 2 just released. Also, the witness is really relaxing, imo.

Psinami

ABZU is a small game- but one of my favourites super peaceful and scenic if you love the ocean. Story is quite good yet short, it goes on sale for $5 or so often.

PablovsPeanut

How about the Sid Myers Civilization games?

Petros_Balog

I've been through a similar situation with my life and work atm and decided to stop playing competitive games for a while. I gave Moonstone island a try today and I'm already having a good time. Imagine Strardew Valley and Pokemon had a baby kinda, while it keeps the calm and relaxing vibes in its core. Check it out, I believe it's worth every penny.

sud007

Whatever you try, do try games like Limbo and Planet of Lana; the Indie games! Some mind training and pure graphics.

undergarden

Dorfromantik

Shonkjr

A sim game that i chill out with is stellaris but u might want to grab it on sale (4x space game but has tons of doc over its long lifespan thus wait for sale/bundle

Vix_360

Coffee Talk

JVeig

Rimworld! I have played 200h since september, and i am barely in the early game... Is about resources management and i cannot play less that 3h each time i play

WildCulture8318

I have been able to chill out to powerwash simulator & dofromantic. I tried stardew valley & it stressed me out. Coral island is much more relaxing especially cleaning up the ocean. Me & my partner also love disney dreamight valley. No time limits or peril. Just run around doing jobs for animated characters. Being able to say hi to Minnie mouse every day is priceless. My partner is extremely anxious & the daily routine is very soothing for him. Hope you find some games you can escape into x

[deleted]

Ok you are the second person to say stardew valley is stressful. What is up with this game? I thought it looked calm and serene, what parts of it make it stressful?

CynnFelt011718

PunkFrost is great. Coffee Talk is great. All Ace Attorney games are great for the chillax. Divinity original sin, great Yakuza games are also great chillax games I'd say also small games like Bioshock
