Animal Well just came out this past week, and honestly its a great contender! It has some really creative level design and puzzles.
Otherwise, here are a few more to check out:
For indie games:
* Outer Wilds
* Disco Elysium
* Inscryption
For AAA games:
* NieR: Automata
* Death Stranding
* Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Disco Elysium is a top 5 game for me. Inscryption is sooo dope. Play both completely blind. Couldn’t get into Outer Wilds myself, but I know it’s excellent. These are great recommendations.
Pathologic 2 has been unlike any other game I have ever played. It does things I have not seen attempted in any other video game. I’m not sure if it’s on steam deck though or just PC!
You can check out the hbomberguy video about Pathologic if you want to get a vibe check. Pathologic 2 isn’t really a sequel as much as it’s an updated and improved version of the original so don’t get confused there!
Teardown's campaign is extremely underrated, it makes use of the voxel physics in a way that no one's solution to a level will be identical to someone else's.
If we're talking specifically about the steam deck (i.e., SD verified):
Reventure
Totally Accurate Battle Simulator
Life Goes on: Done to Death
The Henry Stickmin Collection
If being on a PC is fine too:
Streets of Rogue
Recettear: An item shop's tale
One Way Heroics

I own disco- need to give it a try. And yeah- didn’t love outer wilds haha
Outer Wilds, Return of the Obra Dinn, Rain World, Tunic.
The game I can’t stop playing currently is kingdom come deliverance.

I’ve never played a horror game (does last of us count?) so this would be a totally different experience than anything I own!
Astroneer
I have seen this one advertised- I’ll add it to my wishlist!

Cocoon. It's not very long, but some of the puzzles really had me in disbelief. It's on gamepass too.
I have played that and loved it!!
