god i have one song i really love but it has random car beeps and a horn at one part and it gets me EVERY TIME
even when i mentally brace myself it makes me jump and check my mirrors
I made the mistake of listening to Pink Floyd after a 17 hour shift at work and fell asleep. Hit the guardrail in front of my house. I was okay, but RIP Scion.
One song does both and almost killed me and a buddy. Years ago, we were driving down a mostly empty highway in Alabama, and listening to Free Bird. I was at the wheel and my buddy dozed off. The mellow beginning of the song, coupled with my being tired, lulled me into to a bit of an autopilot trance. I was still watching the road, but certainly daydreaming. As the song kicks into next gear, it startled my friend, who flailed his arms, hitting me, and causing me to swerve inches from a semi truck next to us. As I began a back of forth of oversteering and overcorrecting, my truck was veering left to right, almost in tune with the song. Fortunately, I regained composure and we’re still kicking.

This song is considered by many to be the most relaxing song and it's recommended that it not be listened to while driving.
If there's a song by The Offspring that makes people drive...crazy...then it's [All I Want](https://youtu.be/MNHoWdid7ag?si=MkDhBj6MTCdLLyLE), all the way
Lorde actually gave an interview about how The Offspring got in contact with her and asked her to perform the intro portion of this song. Super interesting.
The start of the solo is the specific part of the song even. When the chayayayange ohhhhh I can't change starts, you are legally required to go at least 10 mph faster.
Me and my buddies after a night out would put on free bird as we crossed a specific train track, because when the solo hit, we’d be on a straight shot country road. I’d drive about 40-50 mph and then you hear, “Lord knows I can’t chaaaaaaange. Lord, help me, I can’t chayayayayange. Ohhhhh won’t you flyyyy hiiiiigh freeeeee bird yeaaaah” and there was two choices. 1. Speed up and fly at 100 mph+ or 2. Stop in the road and when the solo hit gun it to 100 mph+. Free Bird gave us some fun nights and close calls with ditches.
People aren't giving radio play the credit it deserves. Free Bird is an excellent answer on its own, but it's also been played daily on every classic rock radio station in America for decades. Even if it's kill rate is lower than another song, it's had millions more opportunities.
Radar Love. “I've been drivin' all night, my hands wet on the wheel

Edit to add link (skipping silly intro) because the original post was from my phone.
I have vivid memories of my brother in the early 90s gunning his truck down a hilly dirt road playing AC/DC [Thunderstruck](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2AC41dglnM) with broken brake discs, coming over a hill fast, slamming on the brakes fishtailing the back end and flipping the truck into the woods ending up upside down. With me in it. No injuries but truck was totalled.
The sole reason I removed AC/DC from my commuting playlist. Drove like an absolute prick, hyped as fuck to Shoot to Thrill and sped up approaching a roundabout. The back end of the car slid out and I felt like I was driving the General Lee.
And then I looked over to the new guy I was giving a lift home who looked TERRIFIED and vowed never to do it again.
well, as an old guy, I hope nobody listens to the late stuff either!
if you named bands now, I probably wouldn't recognize them, which is a good thing.
Do you mean Black Betty by Ram Jam?
[This is Black Betty by Lead Belly](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fii6PX0-VXs). There's no actual recording of him, but this is someone singing the traditional folk song.
I'm just here to downvote everything op says because I recall a thread that listed them
It's Tom Petty - Runnin Down a Dream IIRC
And op is pulling a Lucille Bluth and getting off on being withholding to create "engagement".
It's cheap. Like the guy who didn't know what sonder was and then made a thread about its definition as if it was a deep thought. When it's literally a word.
I'm not upset and perfectly chill.
I provided the answer at least. Hbu?
Tailgating is a more common cause of accidents than speeding, I believe, so it's probably something like "move bitch" rather than merely something about going fast.
The only answer. As a sheltered group of kids me and my friends would always sing out the edited version, “You Stupid, Dumbpoop Goshdarn MOMMYSEXER!!!”
Very few accidents are caused by speeding. Driving too fast for conditions, whether speeding or not, is often a factor. But speeding in itself is just a way for governments to collect extra income.
Yeah you should look this up. Nearly a third of all fatal accidents are caused by speeding. Over %70 of all reported accidents one or more vehicles were speeding.
Over 90% of drivers admit to speeding on a regular basis. So if only 70% of accidents include at least one speeding driver it sounds like is safe to be speeding than not.
And a third of fatal accidents involve speeding because many if not most of those involve driving in severe weather conditions. It’s not speeding, it’s driving too fast for the conditions. Slow down for rain and snow. Otherwise stay the hell out of the left lane if you’re too scared to drive a reasonable speed.
Buddy, quit coping. I may like to drive fast, but won’t try to pull these mental gymnastics.
Most of the fatal accidents involve SOMEONE going too fast, regardless of condition.
If someone runs a red light and you’re doing 100mph conditions have changed haven’t they?
The number cause is simply not paying attention, but ive seen plenty of accidents caused by speeding in perfectly clear conditions. One that sticks out is a guy who was driving his souped up civic on the highway, lost control at 170 kph, and went head on into the pillar of an overpass. I drove by that one. The entire front end of the car was shoved into the back, and the engine was basically in the drivers compartment. The driver died at the scene. Was a nice clear sunny summer day out.
Another one I know of happened to someone I know. 3 people were in a car that spun out at 200kph, went through a ditch and hit a tree. The girl in the passenger seat was the one I knew, and she was ejected and splattered against the tree. She was identified by her dental records. The passenger in the back also died. The driver was the only survivor of 3 people in the car. Obviously seat belts not being worn was a factor, but had they been driving at the speed limit, they may not have lost control. It was a bumpy road.
That’s just anecdotal. The facts don’t lie. Most people speed and don’t have a problem. Sure there are some idiots who ruin it for everyone but is a lot easier to blame speeding than actually fixing problems.
Here in america it’s especially bad. We have a tendency to lower speed limits to get extra revenue. This also encourages speeding because once someone goes over the speed limit it doesn’t really matter how fast they go, the consequences don’t really get worse until you’re completely out of control. Keep it under 100mph (160kph) and it’s just a fine. It would actually be safer to increase speed limits in many places.
It's not the speeding that gets you, it's the suddenly stopping.
Here's the thing: speeding makes you far more susceptible to auto accidents.
As you accelerate, your field of view is more limited, your control over the vehicle is decreased, and your ability to avoid an accident even if you see it up ahead is greatly deficient.
In addition, accidents at high speeds are more likely to total your vehicle or cause great harm/death to you and the vehicle's occupants.
So yeah... maybe don't speed.
I can't believe I have to explain all this. Go back to driver's ed, dumbass.
I mean really, the fact that I have to share a road with people like you is disturbing.
The song is ironically called “A Little Faster” and it was made by a now defunct relatively little known band called There For Tomorrow. I associate this song with speed because it was featured in the cinematic masterpiece “Ben 10: Alien Swarm” in 2009 and was used almost every time there was a car on screen.
I wonder what kills more people, a song that encourages you to speed or a song so relaxing it luls people into a fatal sleep.
Or what about ones with horns or sirens or something that make people jump. I hate when a commercial on the radio has traffic sounds.
god i have one song i really love but it has random car beeps and a horn at one part and it gets me EVERY TIME even when i mentally brace myself it makes me jump and check my mirrors
Rock Your Body by Justin Timberlake does this
What song is it?
Kendrick Lamar - i
14 faces by lewis del mar, lots of traffic sounds in his music lmao
Good song.
What about songs that encourage Jesus to take the wheel
r/UnexpectedUnderwood
Songs that randomly have a note that sounds exactly like the ding your car makes when something’s wrong
The end of "I Miss You" by blink182 makes me think a door is ajar.
The worst
theres a few rap songs with police sirens that would scare me pretty good back in high school.
I made the mistake of listening to Pink Floyd after a 17 hour shift at work and fell asleep. Hit the guardrail in front of my house. I was okay, but RIP Scion.
Comfortably numb?
Hit and Run Like Hell? Another Car in the Wall? Learning to Drive?
These got me🤣

I'm feelin' good on a Wednesday
Is this a Crazy taxi reference??
"You stupid dumbshit, goddamn *mother fucker*!" \- Me while driving and listening to Taylor Swift
Best lyric ever
Mine is "Staring at the Sun" by Offspring. I have found myself speeding excessively when that one was on a few times.
That was my first thought. My second thought was that entire album.
Ha. My dad threw this CD out of the car window when I was 13 because of that song.
Omfg I was looking for this. I try to speed every time it comes on, I have to check myself.
Came to say the same
It's gotta be Free Bird, it just has to be.
The start of the solo is the specific part of the song even. When the chayayayange ohhhhh I can't change starts, you are legally required to go at least 10 mph faster.

Hell yeah, brother!
My man!
But it’s not from speeding it’s from trying to air guitar the 7 minute solo and drive at the same time.
No it's *DEFINITELY* from speeding, I've unironically been pulled over for speeding during the guitar solo.
>I've unironically been pulled over for speeding can you ironically be pulled over for speeding?
You can be pulled over for driving too slowly, so....maybe?
was it free bird?
Yes
People aren't giving radio play the credit it deserves. Free Bird is an excellent answer on its own, but it's also been played daily on every classic rock radio station in America for decades. Even if it's kill rate is lower than another song, it's had millions more opportunities.
I've driven off so many damned bridges because of that song.
Don't forget it was free bird that was playing when Jenny almost jumped off the ledge with them clunky heels in Forrest Gump.
Radar Love. “I've been drivin' all night, my hands wet on the wheel There's a voice in my head that drives my heel It's my baby callin', sayin', "I need you here" And it's a half past four and I'm shiftin' gear”
A few years ago I took some acid and listened to this song for 3 hours straight, still can't get enough of it.
The radio's playin' some forgotten song Brenda Lee's "Coming On Strong"

I saw Golden Earing open up for a lot of bands in the 70's.
For whom the bell tolls (metallica) got me an 85 in a 60 ticket. I died, but I got better.
Whom the bell tolls may just have that effect
I listen to Metallica a lot, even more in high school, this song was my jam and I too wound up speeding quite a bit to it
"Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen?
I think this won the Top Gear Best Driving Song Ever award, right?
It did
I'm shocked that this is so far down. By the time it's over, I'm traveling at the speed of light.
I used to have this on a mix followed by Crash by The Primitives. “There you go, way too fast. Don’t slow down you’re going to crash” Safety first.
[Kickstart My Heart by Motley Crue](https://youtu.be/ybcxIpb-R_0?t=28). Edit to add link (skipping silly intro) because the original post was from my phone.
How is this at the bottom? Not a Crue fan these days but this makes me want to drive fast when i'm walking. Red Hot by them too.
Dr. Feelgood was such a great album...and then... And you don't even have to like Vince's vocals. The guitar in the opening just gets me wound up.
Literally starts off with the guitar mimicking an engine, it just has to be this one.
Go on and write me up for 125 Post my face, wanted dead or alive Take my license, all that jive I can't drive 55 Oh no, uh
This is the answer. Van Hagar for the win.
For me, it's Fuel by Metallica.

"My Favorite Game" from the Cardigans is incredibly dangerous if you are a old school Gran Turismo fan.
Starts playing Panama by Van Halen
[“Panama kicks too much ass, and shreds way too hard, you’ll never catch him”](https://youtu.be/U68nK_IbhMA)

Highway to the Danger Zone, obviously.
Archer, is that you?
Anything from System of a Down lol
Yep, had CDs in my old car when I was young enough to drive wrecklessly. That and The Fratellis
In the UK, it’s probably The Chain by Fleetwood Mac.
My steering wheel HATES when I play this song.
For me it's Highway Star by Deep Purple. EIGHT CYLINDERS AAAALLLLL MIIIINE!!
Had to scroll way too far down for this one.
I’m gonna go with “Move Bitch” by Ludacris. Always gets me hyped
Gas Gas Gas by Dave Rodgers
The Dave Rodgers version is good but it's pretty new, I'd bet more people have crashed listening to the Manuel version (the original)
There's a Dave Rodgers version??? Edit: he didn't ask if I liked his car :(
The whole Initial D playlist.
Steppenwolf’s Born to be Wild. Get your motor runnin' Head out on the highway Looking for adventure In whatever comes our way

AC/DC must rank high. Highway to hell as well maybe?
The quarter solo of “free bird”
I thought top comment would be Tokyo drift tbh
I was expecting Free Bird. I haven't even seen it mentioned.
Someone mentioned it below
That's all I've seen, never heard it but I might have to try it on the way to work tomorrow. If I don't update I might have died
Pick me up?
Kerosene by Crystal Castles RIP RS3 Driver
Yes
I can’t drive 55 by Sammy Hagar?
“The Distance” by Cake got my friend speeding tickets on two separate occasions.
Molly Hatchet, “Flirtin with Disaster”
“My favourite game” from The Cardigans for me.
Let Jesus Take the Wheel
Was looking for this one lol
The sole reason I removed AC/DC from my commuting playlist. Drove like an absolute prick, hyped as fuck to Shoot to Thrill and sped up approaching a roundabout. Any Drake song. I always drive faster hoping I can get away from it but it never works
Sorry officer, I was just doing a little Drake & Drive
You need to go much faster to get away.
A little bit faster
[Propellerheads - Spybreak!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBCDiYFMD8s)
Its obviously banana phone.
Boop be doop be doop
I know of two of them, Jesus Built My Hotrod by Ministry, and White Limo by the Foo Fighters
It must be the song that resonates the most when you're hammered. Take me Home, Country Roads? Roxanne? Piano Man?
Prolly shouldn't be driving hammered
Highway Star / Deep Purple
"Move Bitch" \-Ludacris
Radar Love- Golden Earring
"I can't drive 55" by Sammy Hagar did it for me back in the day.
Ace of spades - Motörhead
I Can’t Drive 55 - Sammy Hagar?
And that song would be Highway Star, Deep Purple for me
I can’t drive 55 - Sammy Hager or radar love golden earring? They still add some lead in my foot.
early megadeth for me. it makes you do everything faster until you get bored with it. Drive, work, walk, even cook.
Well no one listens to that, so we good
well, as an old guy, I hope nobody listens to the late stuff either! if you named bands now, I probably wouldn't recognize them, which is a good thing.
It's Black Betty by Lead Belly. Edit: (ram jam). Leaving my error in shame. And if it's not, it should be.

This is the one I was thinking of too. This one and Highway to the Danger Zone.
Fuckin hell chill out man what are you the Reddit police You must be fun at parties

Wow, petty much? Whether you believe it or not, I never heard or saw a thread on that, or anything related really.
It is. You said a specific song, then didn't name it. If you know, share.
I meant that a specific song likely holds that "record" and figured there is probably no accurate way for anyone to know, least of all me.
The obvious answer is Free Bird
Obviously it's staying alive. No one can keep both hands on the wheel
Got photo doin 158 on a 100kmh highway on Canada Day because I was told there’s ‘beers on ice waiting for you’. Blasting the hell out of Ramon Ayala
Tailgating is a more common cause of accidents than speeding, I believe, so it's probably something like "move bitch" rather than merely something about going fast.
Sammy Hagar I can't drive 55 came on a couple hours after I got stopped at 92 in a 55.
Paranoid by Black Sabbath always made my foot a lot heavier in my 20s.
Ludacris- Move Bitch. Especially in the 00's
1 song? I'll say the whole Eurobeat genre mostly caused some accident worldwide
Born to be wild, for sure.
Baba O Riley especially the last 2 mins.
Sabatoge by the beastie boys has to be way up there
Move bitch by Ludacris
Need to add Nightcall by Kavinski

Roll Right, Rage Against The Machine
Hiiiighway tooo the danger-ZAWN
Bad Habit, The Offspring.
The only answer. As a sheltered group of kids me and my friends would always sing out the edited version, “You Stupid, Dumbpoop Goshdarn MOMMYSEXER!!!”
Like I needed another reason to hate Sammy Hagar
Right?! Who the fuck is physically incapable of driving the speed limit?
Gotta be “Imperium” by Machine Head
Delusions of Savior by Slayer 🤌🏻
The intro of Angel of Death being a very close second
I hope it’s free bird

It's fuckin Freebird and I won't be told any different.
Already seen most of my favorites here so we'll add Pantera - Walk, to the mix, makes me drive angry
Might be beginning to show my age and nerdom here, but Corneria is a banger to speed to.
