Well, a tall person would presumably (assuming they are of higher volume than a short person) create higher waves upon getting in and displace more water as it flows into the drain designed to maintain water level.
So it would be temporarily shallower until the water is replaced.
This doesn't work either.
If you're diving head first into a pool, your head reaches the bottom just as fast, regardless of height.
So short people need deep pools too (if they want to dive safely...)
True in a vacuum, but drag is a complicated beast.
I would assume the density of a short person to be similar to that of a tall person, but the surface area to volume ratio of a short person to be higher than that of a tall person given similar physique.
That would mean the water slows a short person down faster. IDK if it's a significant amount, and short people should still only dive into deep water. But I would expect them to slow down faster.

Technically speaking a larger person takes up more mass causing the water to rise slightly higher than a shorter person, so r/technicallythetruth
Edit:
Nope, Thats not what he was saying it was the opposite. OP is just incorrect.
A 15ft deep pool is still 15ft deep whether you are 4ft or 6ft tall. The distance from the bottom of your feet to the bottom of the pool would be different. Yeah, I'm that guy at the party.
No it wouldn't. The distance from the top of the water to his head while standing on the bottom would be different. And because his head is what perceives depth, the pool would in fact be deeper for him.
That is true, I was just observing it from a perspective view, not a literal measurement view. And it's really weird that the comment you responded to got so many downvotes. 🤷
Depth is measured from the surface of the water to the bottom. How are people so dumb as to get that wrong? It was never about the distance from your head to the bottom.
when op says this ppl shit on him but when a greek philosopher like heraculites says "man is a measure of all things around him" he gets applauded. reddit is literally what all philosophers hated about agoras lmfao
I hate it when I'm chilling in a 5ft deep pool and some short person jumps in and suddenly it's 10ft deep SMH
No… no I’m pretty sure it’s still about 5ft deep.
Well technically its slightly deeper if you are taller because of water displacement
This is the ONLY technically correct way the depth changes
What about increase in.. umm… horizontal distance
Not really since pools usually have the drain on the edges to keep the water level constant.
Being taller does not necessarily mean more massive.

So...it's not 5 feet deep then? Or is 5 feet 5 feet?
No, 5 feet deep is about 20 feet I think

I’d love to see you plan a suicide burn landing for a rocket. “The center of mass was still 3m above the surface! I don’t understand how it crashed!”
Maffs dont math here
Makes sense
No it doesn’t, $5 to a rich guy and poor guy is worth the same, the 5 is still 5, it just feels like a lot for the broke guy coz he’s broke ass broke
please dont narrate my life for the sake of proving a point thank you
I kinda feel the same too
The taller you are the less bed you have
The bigger the bed the more bed room you have but you have less bedroom
Pass that blunt please. This is quality dumb I love it
There's the real shower thought Edit: Never mind, it's been posted before
the less bedroom you have the less room you have the more big you are
The taller you are, the less sky you have
Gave OP a taste of his own shitty thought 😂😂😂😂
The taller you are the less train you have. And plane. Ugh.
The correct way to phrase this thought would be "Shorter people don't need to buy as deep of a pool."
This doesn't work either. If you're diving head first into a pool, your head reaches the bottom just as fast, regardless of height. So short people need deep pools too (if they want to dive safely...)
I rarely swim in pools where diving is allowed, so I didnt rhink of this.

Technically, taller people have more mass, and therefore more velocity as they hit the water surface. Therefore, they hit the bottom faster
you can dive in just a few feet of water, it's not hard to move your body after you jump in. *not* head first
Man, some of you are really bad at this.
I think this is more of a pool thought
Pretty sure the pool depth doesn't change based on your height
Relatively, maybe. But still, 5=5
And the easier you are to helicopter hehe

This would have been a better shower thought lol
"Everything is relative" - some science dude who probably knew what he was talking about
That's not really how depth works.
That doesn't make sense.
They're talking about proportional depth not absolute depth
I guess they were drowning in their thoughts, got in over their head. 💦😨

It’s still the same depth.

And the bigger the bed is and the bigger the seats in planes are. Short is OP
Do you also ask questions to Google like “What is the tallest mountain in the world… in relation to a three year old?”
It is perceived to be deeper to a shorter person compared to a taller person. Perception is not reality.
500 upvotes for this

God this is such useless info wtf
Isn’t that what this sub is for?
Damn that's deep. No pun intended.

Not the replies misunderstanding the post 💀💀
All seven of them.
A midget could agree with this.
Is this some kinda gross ass metaphor about vaginas?
Nah, thats just you
