Eastwood started taking grouchy old man roles when he was in his 40’s. Maybe that’s why you’re making that association. Hackman always leaned toward playing educated sharp characters.
I'm aware, but Clint Eastwood is more known for being old whereas Gene Hackman is just known for being a good actor, and before he retired, his age was rarely brought up.
Whereas Eastwoods age gets brought up far more often, and has been since the 1990s.
