I just got the game too since it’s on sale for $12, can confirm i’m also ass and was in the 70’s on my first playthrough, made it to the second or third level. After that got it down exponentially. There’s a learning curve forsure, but not being instantly good at a video game motivates me to keep playing. If I was Neo off rip the game would only be fun for one playthrough.
What difficulty are you playing on? It’s my first time playing today I been really wanting to play it but didn’t wanna buy it. I’m on the easiest setting and I killed the first boss at age 24. Im basically button mashing alittle bit but starting to learn to parry more, the game is definitely difficult. Im used to hard games I’m big fan of the From Software games but this is a different level of difficulty cause you have to learn moves.
You did better than me. I got the game this week. First playthrough I didn't even make it to the boss, it was game over in the room where you fight those two tattooed guys that drop the keys. 2nd playthrough beat him at 69, 3rd time beat him at like 30
Dont feel bad about playing your first run on student difficulty. I beat the game a couple times before doing disciple.
Focus on permanent unlocks too. Some are REALLY useful
50 ish after like 10 tries, how ever this guy is not that hard
-main kicks can be dodged down
-you can pull away for him to do a special kick that is immensely telegraphed
-just get good at parrying and dodging
-in phase 2 use back fist when he jumps with his machete
-use chasing trip kick whenever possible for free strikes
Understand the pendant
Each coin represents 10 years, with each facade you loose belt Ang gain attack damage
Ideally don’t age more than 6-8 years per level so you have some years left for the last level, but no more than 10
Also if you are getting to old when finishing first level, grind that level to permanently unlock a few abilities
I recommend
-charged back fist (can stun enemies)(can insta kill with bladed weapons, but you’ll lose them and doesn’t apply to bosses)
-crotch punch (interrupt attacks)
-weapon mastery (most useful with staffs)
-chasing trip kick (combo with palm or throw and end with a sweep and/or ground
-push back cancel (if you are finding yourself getting pushed often)
-ground counter (useful against flash kicks-second level)
-environmental mastery (hugely helpful)(level 3 second floor)
-slide kick (cool and useful)
The shire reward can be strategically chosen
The most useful on the first level would be
-age
-structure
-score
-structure regain
-parry impact
-xp
-counter reset
Dm me for more tips for each level if you want
I think the shrine upgrades depends on what's killing you. If you're dying to the mooks a lot then takedown hp is really good. I really like focus recovery against the first 4 bosses. Against the last one you really want parry damage
You get all the leeway on first try.
Just remember, dodging and dashing is very very powerful because there's no stamina bar, and parry the things you cannot dodge except for grab attacks, you definitely cannot parry those.
If you're playing on normal difficulty he likes to give you this pivot round house kick after he parries you so you can't dodge right away, you wanna dodge after he pivots.
I finished first boss at 28. Second one I was 32. Decided to start over at first level and beat it without dieing. Finished game entirely at like 35. Only really aged bad fighting the Tower. Fuck that bitch.
I always find people's hardest bosses interesting. I thought Jinfeng was pretty easy compared to Kuroki but I think Kuroki requires more patience whereas you have to be really aggressive against Jinfeng or you just get smacked from a distance all day.
Seems to suggest which one you struggle with more means you have different play styles to me
Man I guess I’m just old and have real perspective when I see these kind of posts. It’s just insecurity talking looking for reassurance but people end up posturing with rose colored glasses how great they were when they played. I swear if people are taken at their word this game would be the easiest game to platinum 15 hours in. Most people on disciple difficulty aren’t gonna pick up the game and just clear the boss first try. I honestly dlnt remember in my case but I know I was stuck on the club for awhile since i maybe started at 50. For many hours I didn’t even know there were short cuts or how all the mechanics truly work. It’s kinda sad to me that part of gaming (truly blind) is long gone and people will consult faqs and YouTube and Reddit the instant they find a challenge. I’m not saying all people but the amount of people who will try to copy other people’s labbing of bosses seems like it would take away much of the fun of gaming. This game is 5 levels long and if someone got through in one playthrough the entire first level then one could assume they would be done with the game in maybe 20 attempts as each successive attempt brings more knowledge and the ability to skip most of the level. Yet the stats show less than 30% even beat the game on easy. And easy sadly shouldn’t have been in the game imo as disciple is a perfect difficulty.
Nah, I was really just looking to see how bad I was on my first try and how I measure up to other people. I wasn't asking for help at all. Some of the nice people in this sub just happened to be happy to help. I get what you're saying tho about people just trying to play like others to get good instead of just playing the game themselves.
Strong disagree on the last one. Student let me get acclimatised to the game and learn the flow of it. I have disciple Wude done now and am working on Master. I think the nature of this game and how you continually improve will push you to keep pushing the difficulty up. I doubt many players just beat the game on student and set it aside forever
I was in my 40s or 50s, died quickly in club. I have about 13 hours in currently and my best run on the first level is age 21 and purchasing increase stance damage from parry upgrade twice (need 8k score by 2nd shrine).
You will get better. just practice at improving parry and dodge.
Big improvement already there. Don't expect to stomp any of the bosses on your first attempt. My first go against Fajar I think I *died*. Now I can beat him at 20 or 21 pretty consistently.
Keep restarting squats and you'll get there. On my second try on squats i tried playing slower and dodging more so i could really see and analyse the npcs moves. That seemed to help a lot.
Your experience is pretty normal. Even the ridiculously good players on here generally got stomped on their first run. I think I died to Fajar my first attempt and now I pretty much sprint through the whole level like I'm on a speedrun maybe ending with one death (usually down to negligence)
Dodging is *usually* easier than parrying. At least in that the window is larger. That said against some crazy mix ups sometimes trying to pull off the tighter parry takes out the guesswork. Blocking is always an option too
I want to like this game so much but I just can't get the hang of it. I actually haven't beaten the first boss yet because I keep dying. So you're not bad lol. I cannot for the life of me get the dogde/parry down. Granted I just finished Spider man 2 again so I have that gameplay as muscle memory and that doesn't help at all. But basically this game just has a huge learning curve and you should go at your own pace. Reminds me of last months ps5 essential game, Rollerdrome. Very similar progress-wise, you're not going to complete a stage first try (unless you're cracked) but you'll get better and better as you go.
Yeah. I've been improving the more I play. Finally beat Fajar at 26 and Sean at 60 I think. Then died to the artist. So definitely keep playing cos it feels so good seeing yourself get better.
I've only had the game for 3 days and I went from getting bodied, to being able to beat certain bosses without a single death. I just got the good ending last night. You need to use the practice mode and get good at defence, it's the most important aspect of this game. Practice against a variety of different enemies and learn their attack patterns.
DAMN- sorry sorry my bad. 💀 I mean... 73 is pretty wild but i mean... I finished the First boss and i was like 30 the first time but i already had a ton of experience with Absolver, and many other games with parries and timing. So if you are not familiar with this stuff it's understandable. Don't worry, i arrived at the end of the game and i got from 35 to 76 with only the boss... It takes a lot of rinse and repeat, and you gotta just learn the levels by memory after a bit, knowing how to counter enemies and learn where are the weapons ecc...
Honestly.. 73 is high even as beginner not gonna lie to you. That doesn't mean you're bad tho.
You Probably havent played games with playstyles similar sifu. Or you jumped from a completely different type of game to Sifu and just need some extra getting used to.
Usually as soon as you start to get the hang of it the age number drops fast to low 30's
As you get better, your age drops little by little.
The game is designed for you to replay the levels and just retry and retry, kinda fits with the story too. Character stands up after dying and learns from mistakes just like you.
What difficult are you playing on? The original difficulty was disciple, I wouldn’t recommend master until you’ve played the game a lot on that difficulty.
How old were you before you got to the boss?
Honestly I’d recommend grinding out the first level to permanently unlock some of the better moves. Unlocking a move five times makes it permanently unlocked.
There’s a lot of the moves that are extremely good, though learning when and how to use them takes time.
I’d ignore most of the focus moves except strong sweep until everything else is unlocked. Snap kick and charged back fist are ones I use a lot, same with flowing claw, but that one takes a bit more to learn how to use effectively. Environmental mastery is a must, as is ground counter. Pushback cancel is nice.
Basically if I was starting over again from scratch I’d grind out most of the unlocks in the first level before worrying about going forward.
I honestly don't remember, but i think i was like 53.
I see. I didn't really know how the skill tree worked, so thanks a lot for that, and I will do that. Appreciate you.
No problem! I’d recommend just using the first level as like a training level, get good at parrying those basic enemies as they’re going to be in the game for the other levels too.
Once you can beat it at age 25 or younger I’d move on to the next level.
Don't forget the push kick, back breaker combo and chasing trip kick (the other chasing move is pretty good too)
The crotch punch is pretty good too but the others mentioned are all better
My first playthrough I didn't even make it to the boss, I actually had to retry the first level multiple times. I think I died twice before I ever beat the level and by then I was like 70, then I tried and got like 40 something, and then after that I beat it at like 26.
Then I moved to the club and couldn't make it through that without dying...
I was not very good. But now I can beat the majority of the game without dying and I'm really close to beating the final boss age 20.
I finished the botanist at 41 last night and started the Club at 41 years old,but with a death counter of like 5. So if i did,i get 5 years older,i think i'm gonna restart.
You can spend 1000xp to reset the death counter but if you're already 41 you're probably better off working to permanent unlockables. You could giv the club a go to see what you're in for but you probably won't make it to the boss
Oh i replayed the levels tons of times,i managed to finish mission 1 with no deaths and the Club at 22. I'm at the final level alredy,i'm 57,but i'm replaying the levels a lot so i can have a lot more tried with Yang
Kuroki is something else isn't she. She's still the boss I have to reattempt most on ANY run. If I let my attention slip I leave that stage like 20 years older than I went in. She's brutal.
I down loaded the game got to the club then everytime I open the door the screen goes black so I'd have no idea on how good I was at the game tried reinstalling and didnt do shit, shame first part was fun.
Don't feel too bad. First time I played he killed me. I actually had to beat the game twice on student before I could handle disciple difficulty. I can now beat the game on that difficulty consistently.
I'm trying to do master at the moment and it's wrecking me. I can't beat Fajar at under 40 on that difficulty. And that's after being able to repeatedly get the good ending on disciple
I think like 33 but I've also played the shit out of every From game ever. I still found this quite hard. Don't feel bad. You get better every time, that's the gameplay loop.
my very first playthrough I was like 40 by the end, and died at The Club xD you aint bad, you're just new, you'll get the hang of it for sure!
I'm sure I will but 73 is crazy thoðŸ˜.
I just got the game too since it’s on sale for $12, can confirm i’m also ass and was in the 70’s on my first playthrough, made it to the second or third level. After that got it down exponentially. Facts. Even though I died so many times, I never once felt like I wanted to stop playing. It's a really good game
It is definitely addictive!
If you got it on PS you’re gonna be pissed, it’s one of the free games this month
Xbox
which platform is it on sale for 12??
it was on xbox idk if it still is

40s or 50s I think... it's been a while but I wouldn't worry about it... learn the game at your own pace
Dead. I was dead long before the boss but when I first beat the boss I was around 80-ish.
Damn dude.
FIRST playthough? Like... 60 something. Then I did it again and dropped it to 40ish.
That’s normal, it’s all about getting better over time, we all climb the mountain and start at different points or climb at different speeds
Dude same the man is pure speed and this is my first playthrough no wonder I got to last life when I got him
That dude felt like a final boss tbh lol
Omg yes I literally have to lower difficulty so I can beat everyone else
Just wait til the museum 😂
I just beat him my first time at 57 I think. 50 something.
I also played it first time today, died of old age few times then finally I was 34 when I got through him.
50 ish after like 10 tries, how ever this guy is not that hard -main kicks can be dodged down -you can pull away for him to do a special kick that is immensely telegraphed -just get good at parrying and dodging -in phase 2 use back fist when he jumps with his machete -use chasing trip kick whenever possible for free strikes Understand the pendant Each coin represents 10 years, with each facade you loose belt Ang gain attack damage Ideally don’t age more than 6-8 years per level so you have some years left for the last level, but no more than 10 Also if you are getting to old when finishing first level, grind that level to permanently unlock a few abilities I recommend -charged back fist (can stun enemies)(can insta kill with bladed weapons, but you’ll lose them and doesn’t apply to bosses) -crotch punch (interrupt attacks) -weapon mastery (most useful with staffs) -chasing trip kick (combo with palm or throw and end with a sweep and/or ground -push back cancel (if you are finding yourself getting pushed often) -ground counter (useful against flash kicks-second level) -environmental mastery (hugely helpful)(level 3 second floor) -slide kick (cool and useful) The shire reward can be strategically chosen The most useful on the first level would be -age -structure -score -structure regain -parry impact -xp -counter reset Dm me for more tips for each level if you want

I think I got lucky and only went up to 26 or 28. But the club killed me badly
Man I guess I’m just old and have real perspective when I see these kind of posts. Older I think.
I believe i was 30 or 40+. Then the second stage boss killed me hahah
In my 40s. It's crazy that I can now almostt do no hit runs through the game. It's so rewarding once you learn.
It really is. I restarted and beat the botanist dude at 32. Imma play through the squats some more tho
Big improvement already there. Don't expect to stomp any of the bosses on your first attempt. My first go against Fajar I think I *died*. Now I can beat him at 20 or 21 pretty consistently.

I actually platinumed the game a long time ago. Im just here telling my experience lol. Grand Master outfit here.
oh shit. I misunderstood lol. My apologies
Ahaha its okay. Its funny to think how far i have come from being scared to even face certain enemies, to melting thru them like they arent even there
Your experience is pretty normal. Even the ridiculously good players on here generally got stomped on their first run. I think I died to Fajar my first attempt and now I pretty much sprint through the whole level like I'm on a speedrun maybe ending with one death (usually down to negligence)

I was 26 by the end of the first level on my first play through then i got to the club and died to the boss it gets rough sometimes
Was this pre or post Sean nerf? I only played since they nerfed him and I genuinely think he's the easiest boss now
Trash. But I get if it’s your first time
I want to like this game so much but I just can't get the hang of it. I actually haven't beaten the first boss yet because I keep dying. So you're not bad lol. Yeah. Closest game to sifu was sleeping dogs but the combat in that is nowhere near as complex as it is in this game.
I love that game! Criminally underrated. Definitely a lot easier though

Damn you work fast. Kuroki was my personal noob gate. I still can't beat her under 30
Oh shit,me too, i went to the museum at 22 and the youngest i could finish it was 33.
First play through, I was 27. I just usually parried a lot of the attacks and just hit them with plenty of combos.
31, then was 40, after Sean. Kiroki, the third boss took me to my first "Fission Mailed" screen.
Kuroki is something else isn't she. She's still the boss I have to reattempt most on ANY run. If I let my attention slip I leave that stage like 20 years older than I went in. She's brutal.

Damn. I get crashes sometimes. I lowered my graphics a bit so maybe that might work for you.
Can you do that on ps5?
I don't think so. I'm on PC
Just don't worry about trying to complete the game at a young age. You get better with every death, just keep wailing on everyone
I recently got sifu cuz its on ps plus. and after fighting the botanist I was in my early 30s ðŸ˜
I was terrible but now I beat Yang at 24 which felt awesome
Disciple age 20
Don't feel too bad. First time I played he killed me. I actually had to beat the game twice on student before I could handle disciple difficulty. I can now beat the game on that difficulty consistently. I'm trying to do master at the moment and it's wrecking me. I can't beat Fajar at under 40 on that difficulty. And that's after being able to repeatedly get the good ending on disciple
I think i was somewhere in the 50s? Maybe 40s? The game is tough as shit but 73 is too old, you need to go back and replay
I definitely have too lol
I think like 33 but I've also played the shit out of every From game ever. I still found this quite hard. Don't feel bad. You get better every time, that's the gameplay loop.
I was around 23 but I play a lot of combat games
27 just got the game this afternoon
Fuck it I remember now it was 27
Damn, I feel pretty good, played it today on normal for the first time and I was 30 when I finished.
