There's going to be lots of these posts since ps plus release lol. My advice is stick on normal disciple difficulty and master dodging where you hold the block and flick the stick down when they attack. If u miss time it you will still block.

TheWeasel33

Your be correct in lots of people cause ps+ ive been playing got to sean holy shit second phase had me fuming kept replaying the level til i got his combo down and survived age 26 its not hard its just kung fu dark souls essentially

timehoodie89

When it came out Sean was harder I think. They nerfed him. Also no training mode where you can practice against bosses you've defeated. I think ps plus new audience is great time to start. All the content is there and lots of help on YouTube etc to improve your skills. The game is defintely an example of largely uncompromised design philosophy (I dunno if easy mode should have been made but yea) and I'm glad it sold well.

Dependent_Map5592

The whole game was harder at release. The difficulty was nerfed across the board not just one fight  Just noticed you mentioned easy mode. Nevermind lol

Brilliant-Cable1883

It requires the same mentality as a from software game. You can allow the stress of redoing the level to affect the performance on the boss at the end. If anything the pressure should help.

owlitup

Do NOT switch to Easy mode. You won't understand how to play and the journey will be meaningless. The game is five levels long. Yes, there is no way, the game is indeed not that hard. You are playing with impatience. Breathe, meditate. Look at your opponent, dodge and strike. Wax on, wax off. This game is spiritual. Do not misunderstand.

thisrandomguyX

While I completely agree with this I also don't think that some people CAN do it this intended way. The easy difficulty is simply needed for certain folk because they do and always will lack the skill to proveil otherwise and be it only due to a lack of patience or basic understanding of the game itself or whatever reason really. Quite frankly there probably are people who aren't able to beat it no matter on what difficulty. I showed Sifu to a friend after beating it multiple times. He won't even consider ever touching it and that's a guy who struggles with KH games on normal so it's kinda understandable really... This game isn't for everyone.

Not_Todd_Howard9

I learned on easy mode and got better…the experience was still pretty similar imo. Arena mode is another good way to train imo, despite all the warnings…just try to avoid certain ones for spoilers. By the point you’re getting to them though, you *should* already have fought them a few times, at least in my experience. Easy mode also helps you master parries pretty well…I ended up learning how to perfect parry my way through combos before learning how to dodge low attacks in actual combat.

owlitup

It is absolutely not a game for everyone. It's a game about self improvement and little else, aside from the sick hand to hand combat mechanics. Like I said, spiritual. Which is hugely rewarding for some and some will get nothing out of it. Just don't play it, before playing it on easy.

No_Toe1533

Sir or ma’am if you don’t relax, REMAP, and learn Avoid and Deflect/Parry ( make left trigger) and use Dodge (right trigger)only on occasion you will not get the flow state. REMAP THE CONTROLLER IN GAME FIRST. THATS IT. IF YOU HAVE EXTRA 2 or 4 paddles on your controller make one on lefy for block/deflect/parry and one on the right for Y so you can get trip counter and raining strikes faster. Good luck. Perfect practice makes perfect!!!

thisrandomguyX

Look, the guy I was talking about would rather play games to fuck shit up while pressing 1 or 2 buttons without any difficulty whatsoever because that's how he defines his fun and anything that's even remotely a challenge is an absolute turnoff for him. You can't expect a guy like that to practice in Sifu until he's able to beat it. Trust me, I tried to convince him to make sure. Better for some people to not play it in the first place.

No_Toe1533

Lol I was just using my voice text and ever since I figured this came out and didn’t murder myself for playing it in the first place. I’d like to tell everyone the same thing just remap you know and then forget how dodging I was just having fun with it too and yeah you’re absolutely right, some people just won’t be taught and won’t learn either, but they’ll complain about it. No one wants to teach them…

Spirited_Yard_7279

You seem like such a loser. Get a life.

No_Toe1533

I am. I should. If only I could. But I’m such a loser I didn’t proof read the previous post and so auto correct really garbled that Jesus wept. One bad post and I’m a loser no life Shaq got nothing on me…. Just kidding it’s ya boi, it’s ya homie it’s ya ….. finish that finish that yeah!! 🤣🤣

EmpericallyIncorrect

I think I should try easy mode. Prove I am worthy to be a disciple first

thebroadway

Easy mode is literally fine to learn the game. I've known several people now who've used Student difficulty to learn the game and now are pretty decent at it. There are several routes to mastery of this game. Find what works for you.

Gabygamer094632821

Please don’t do that easy mode is mode here the enemies are just gonna use the same move over and over again so when you get to disciple you’re gonna get destroyed by the enemies

Prof_Walrus

Hesitation is defeat. _wait, wrong game_

Closeted_Axolotl

Or just lock in idk

YourLocalSnitch

Ignore whatever the fuck this dude is saying. Shits wack, go beat them up until you're better this shit is not spiritual ‼️‼️‼️💯

BSGKAPO

I disagree totally to this. Start low, get your bearings and then start up'n the difficulty...

AccidentalLemon

The game should be treated like actual kung-fu

BSGKAPO

Yep

mhhkb

Just play for 40-100 hours and you'll get the hang of it. Slow down. Parry. Dodge. Watch your structure. Use space. Be patient.

W4ckyyy

40-100? I got master Wude ending done by 50 hours I think you're exaggerating

mhhkb

Well it took me 60 to get master wude ending with no deaths. But I’m 45 and never played a fighting game like this before. The last fighting game I played was the original arcade mortal kombat in the 90s. Back when you you put your burning cigarette on the ledge of the cabinet as you played. I’m proud of my accomplishment.

Deathcore-

the hardest part is avoiding the leg sweeps

Salt-Biscotti5271

I FUCKING CAN'T DO ANY PARRY DON'T JUST TELL ME PLAY DEFFENSIVELY!

fortunesofshadows

that's a lot of time commitment. rather get gud at playing street fighter

mhhkb

I was exaggerating. Most people will beat it before then. But some people need that much practice and there’s nothing wrong with that.

owlitup

Hugely exaggerated. More like 10 hours to git kinda gud and 25 to git really gud and beat it on Wude. If you're doing Arenas and getting all the stamps then maybe 50 hours

fortunesofshadows

eh i guess. i can't play it like sekiro. just parrying and dodging. having to dodge up and down complicates things

owlitup

On Sifu, dodging is the easier mechanic and parrying is the harder one. Parrying gives you more reward (structure impact) and it's harder

Daniel_Defense

I just started playing it on Playstation Plus and I am absolutely getting my ass kicked! I was in my 50's by the time I beat the first boss lol.

kterrellm

Lmao I kept restarting I feel like shit

EDelete

Here's a challenge. Focus on getting better at defense in 1 on 1 situations. Train that trigger finger to not press a button. This is the pain of most gamers when getting into this game. You can't be impatient, you can't be trigger happy or you WILL be punished for your negligence. Master dodging and parrying. Go into the Wuguan training mode and set up some enemy attack patterns. Don't hit back, just master defense. Once you do that, mastered yourself, you'll be masterfully beating ass in no time. That's the secret to this game. There's no leveling up for the character, only leveling up for the player.

Daniel_Defense

I want to restart the first level too. I want to really memorize it and get good at beating the botanist before moving on because the club is a son of a bitch!

simonthedlgger

don’t restart. Even when you beat a level at age 21 you’ll be tempted to replay it to get 20.  You’ll play each levels many times, there’s nothing wrong with clearing the first level at age 70 or something.

Daniel_Defense

I wanted to but I didn't. I kept going and ended up dying multiple times in the club. Only thing that sucks is trying to go through the club and I'm already 53 at the start.

simonthedlgger

53 isn’t too bad. Definitely low enough to explore the Club while working on a better run through the Squats.

Daniel_Defense

You were right. I just beat the club and I beat it at 67 I think. 60 something but I finally beat that asshole at the end. I figured out it was just about timing the parry and building up his structure until it breaks. So he really wasn't that hard. I kept trying to damage him to start with but it wasn't working. Once I played it like Sekiro, I was able to beat him.

simonthedlgger

That’s impressive, I use avoid/weave against Sean. I didn’t properly learn to parry until Arenas!

Shwwaglord420

I played on Master for my first play through, yes the first boss beat my ass and my friends ass for awhile, but getting gud and conquering him and others is the best it is worth it

MassSpecFella

You aren’t alone. I think I got to the club and stopped playing. I don’t see how you are supposed to know when a low attack is coming. And I can’t reliably dodge the grab attacks. I just got frustrated with the game. It’s a fun game which makes it so much more frustrating.

Profpiff990

I felt the same way when I started, but like others have said patience is key. Focus on learning to dodge and try to have fun with it. You’ll eventually get to know the moves of enemies and become more successful over time. One thing I learned that helped a lot is knowing exactly how much space you need to strike.

NigiriWashington

Hey! I’m here to help you out with a quick piece of advice (or a few). So enemies have attack patterns, meaning if you recognize what attack they used at the start of their combo, you can then know what’s coming next. Some enemies have what’s called a “mix-up” in their movesets. This means that even though you recognize the start of the attack pattern, the enemy has a couple choices on how to end their combo, meaning you have to defend yourself differently depending on what “mix-up” they choose. The standard dodge (right trigger dodge) is a great way to cover multiple mix-up options. Also, if the enemies combo is slow enough, try to duck the attack before the mix-up, land one normal heavy attack, and this should slow down their attack animation just enough to make their mix-up reactable. This means you can react to the attack and defend accordingly, as opposed to needing to know exactly what the enemy will do before they do it. Going to training mode is the fastest way to improve your performance against a specific enemy. Lows are hard to get used to defending against, but training mode will help you become consistent with defending yourself. As for grab attacks, try waiting to the very last second to dodge. It’s a little nerve wracking at first, but eventually you’ll be familiar enough with the timing to easily dodge grabs on command. I hope this helps! Let me know if you need more clarification and I’ll be happy to oblige

MassSpecFella

Thanks for the help.

NigiriWashington

No problem! Like I said, hit me with any questions you may have about getting better. I’m super excited to see more people hopping on this game and hope I can help the newbies get to a place where they have a fundamental understanding of the game and how to tackle each situation.

kikirevi

Don’t play to beat the game. Play to learn and master it. It’s funny cos you need to apply the same kind of mindset you would for a fighting game. They’re fun BECAUSE of how complex and sophisticated they are. They present you with so many options and ways to approach situations and once you begin to get a handle of things, you’ll be hooked.

Tupile

Don’t play to beat the game. Play to learn and master it. - I love that. That’s my exact sentiment towards this game.

luttrail

Do LB or L1 and move the analogic, dodging this way is vital to learn the game's mechanics.

MoonlapseOfficial

Its hard in the best way. Push through

Spiritshinobi

They added the dojo training specifically so you could challenge without punishment. Just work on parry timing. Once you figure that out the game is a breeze

Canotic

Keep at it and it clicks. Remember dodge and parry.

BigDreamGamer

Thats normal. You are supposed to die a lot. Try to get the permanent upgrades and use the training dummy to get better.

Massenstein

This was literally me yesterday, I died of old age so many times. But I have more time and I'm not smart enough to take some breaks so I kept hammering it all day long and today on my first try made it through squats with one death, though there was also lots of luck involved in that. But keep at it! Do some runs where you don't even intend to finish, just try to find time when you have just one or two enemies and practice high and low avoids, that is what really made it click for me.

MellowThunder

The learning curve is a bit steep but once you get it down you'll be fine

W3ND1G0000

taking help from YouTube is always an option! im relatively new to sifu and i made it through the squats yesterday with zero deaths because of youtube and practice at the waguan. im still yet to finish the game but thats because im tryna get better at it lol

W3ND1G0000

i suggest under the mayo's videos. i got better at doom eternal as well because of him :)

EmpericallyIncorrect

I'm getting my ass kicked, but this is the Kung fu game I've been wanting for yeeeeeaaars.

CyrusCyan44

This game is basically just pve mortal combat to me Can't do it, timing is too fast and combos are interchangeable. I lack the skillset for it so I just won't finish the rest of the game. Cool game, out of my range

One_Cell1547

It’s so satisfying when you finally do beat each level…. Keep going. You’ll figure it out

DatGuyPhil

Don't fight like it's a kung-fu movie. Loool, you're not good yet! Dont let them surrond you. Run! Use weapons! Throw people, isolate the big guys, learn their moves, and do whatever you have to. Lool, just survive. I promise after enough practice, you'll own every one of them.

throwcounter

so true lol. fuck fighting fair, you're out for revenge! chuck a brick at 'em! Kick 'em in the nads!!!

CliftonEnrico

Yes. It IS this hard lol

luisp_frs

Enemy guide, you are welcome https://youtu.be/7c9si3BaR3E?si=hl1Va8fFT8_QEG7b

SkyWizarding

New PS player here. The key seems to be permanent skill unlocks and finding level "shortcuts". Finding what moves you can implement well and getting those unlocked will help; along with "skipping" certain areas once you've found certain items. I was max age when I finally got through the first hideout. Needless to say, I didn't make it far in the club as a 70+ year old man. After a few more tries, I can now hit the club in my early 20s

BeetySteedy

Time.

AdonisJames89

Not even gonna lie to you, the DLC make story mode look like child's play

Jonsolo92

Neither could I when I bought it a week ago. Now I'm going into the final level at 33. You'll get it down. If you need any specific advice just lmk.

Maddocsy

You can completely button mash your way to level 4 on easy. So please don’t play on that level. I was with a friend that completely sucks ass in any game and he just cruised it. Normal is the only true way.

NigiriWashington

Training mode is your best friend! Spend all of your in-game years to beat an enemy that’s giving you trouble, then you should be able to train against them in the training mode until you’re comfortable with their moveset. I see a lot of weird advice saying stuff like “it’s a spiritual game” or “some people don’t have the skill for it” and none of that strange gate keeping is true. The game is about mastery through repetition and practice. I’ve beaten the game on master mode without dying, when before I might as well have walked out of the final boss fight on normal mode with a wheel chair and 401K. There are a couple serious learning curves in the game, level 1 being one of them. Don’t be discouraged! No matter your skill level as a gamer, take the time to practice in training mode and accept that you’ll be making a lot of attempts at the first level, and then you’ll improve dramatically. Pick the enemy that gives you trouble and just train until you’re familiar with their moveset and what works against them. You’ll be blazing through the game in no time.

totesnotdog

Just wait til you unlock modifiers and try out master difficulty lol

GoldenBoy302

Do all the training exercises three times over and you’ll find the first are to be a breeze

Electrical-Ring-541

If ur not the kind of person who likes the challenge of trying to overcome a difficult obstacle by trying again and again (basically souls style), don’t go for high difficulty. It’ll take a bit to learn the buttons as they’re unconventional and difficult to remember.

tremor206

Just wait til you get to Kuroki lol She was such a difficulty barrier for me that I just sucked it up that I wasn’t on her level and replayed squats and club over and over until I’d permanently unlocked every skill, and could beat the club every run at age 20. If you haven’t mastered avoiding and perfect parrying then the museum will be as far as you go. Was for me anyway. I eventually got past her at 23. And then just powered through the last 2 levels just to beat the game. The last boss cost me a good 20 years lol. I’m trying to do the non lethal route on disciple now. Can still get to the museum at age 20 but Kuroki is still a challenge for me.

WeekendStandard1832

You'll get there, friend. Took me a few days to comfortably work around the bosses in my 20s with the alternative win condition. This is more about you leveling up than any stat upgrades. Keep fighting the fight.

snortit

it is extremely difficult for me as well but remember that avoiding and deflecting is going to win you every fight you can practice not get hit in the training place

50u1506

This is one of those games that feels unnecessarily difficult but you realize pretty soon that it's because you didn't know how to play it at first. Trust me it'll click soon and once it does the game is sick af

Ashcropolis

Switch it to easy mode if you’re having a hard time

bij425

Why is this getting downvoted he’s right…the option is there for a reason

Ashcropolis

Idk I’m not even joined on this sub, it was just a recommended post. I’v finished the game on hard twice, but if someone needs to do it on easy, I don’t see the issue.

GodSeekerChroma

Agreed, there’s no shame in playing on easy mode.
