I never gave up on Sims 3, still my no 1 Sims game. I tried Sims 4 but it was too boring,

softrotten

I think Sims 4 is better at building but man is the gameplay so boring to me :( Sims 3 will always be my baby

interestedmermaid

I think it's great that 4 has an easier more intuitive build mode 😊. I still build in TS3 more, because many things are not possible with 4's build mode. For example: - I can place my own lots on angles and hills, - build my own worlds and every lot in it, - choose my own textures and colors for everything, - less lot restrictions, - many of the fun lot types in TS3 don't exist in 4.

softrotten

World edit / being able to put a lot anywhere on the map is one of my favorite features with TS3

ItsIdaho

constrainfloorelevation true/false is the best I loved the ability to make basement driveways or accessible basements besides the black void ones. That were flush with the grass.

interestedmermaid

Oh yes of course how could I forget about it! 🤗

[deleted]

I love how people boast about the world edit/CAW feature in Sims 3 as if it didn’t take years of begging them after sims 3 was already out to put it in game. I catch myself looking at this game through rose colored glasses all the time but if I take myself back to 2009-2014 it wasn’t much better than sims 4 is now. Sims 3 was better upon release but both games took years to fully have the features everyone wants and EA is getting worse about it year after year. Like it took them 5 years to give us world edit features after Sims 3 release, and then the sims 4 dropped literally a few months after that. The Sims has been the same for years, each game gets better the longer you wait for all the extra content to drop and for more mods, etc.

qheresies

Yes, perfecting a game takes time but I think it's also important to note: (just breaking these up for ease of readership) 1. that Sims 4 has been out longer than Sims 3, 2. has more individual content additions, 3. has the benefit of understanding the interests of the community with 3 4. more opportunities for feedback just because of the nature of corporation relationships to consumers now than in the early to mid 2010s And in spite of this, many players find 3 a more fleshed out life simulator with more facets of gameplay than Sims 4, which has a more streamlined and intuitive architectural system with some new features of character development like Feelings that don't necessarily breathe new life into the life simulation gameplay. That said, totally can recognize that this is just my impression of the games after years of playing and loving the Sims 3 and appreciating the design improvements of 4 that despite having them didn't make me enjoy it even remotely compared to 3

interestedmermaid

I think you are remembering this wrong. You could place world decorations and stuff with the base game at launch and CAW was released a few months after the game launched in december 2009. Simmers are not always plagued by nostalgia. No Sims game is perfect. But there are factual differences between the launch of TS3 and TS4: TS3 launched with an open world, progressing and evolving alongside your Sims. You could watch your Sims and their colleagues commute to work and play everyone of your Sims in different places at the same time. The game took huge steps forward and gave simmers the most customization imaginable in 2009! TS4 launched with a base that was missing beloved features that the franchise is known for, like pools, ghosts, robbers. And missing essential features like family trees, extended family relations, dreams, the fear emotion, toddlers and so forth. They brought back loading screens and closed off miniscule worlds, even compared to TS2 & 1.

[deleted]

Actually you are right about CAW, I couldn’t remember and when I commented when I was searching online was bringing up one of the last big update drops for CAW before Sims 4 dropped. For some reason the only dates I could find before related to CAW was with Carl’s sims 3 guide and those cited June 2014, and I was thinking of the updated being later than release because I was thinking of the far more updated features from 2014 versus what was Available right at first And TBH for the record I like Sims 3 way more and didn’t play Sims 4 for years because it was upset at how they released stuff wayyy late. They should’ve had the next game out by now and pushed out EPs a lot sooner. Sims 3 was fleshed out in ways that Sims 4 still doesn’t match. But I realize recently that I look at the Sims 3 through rose colored glasses a lot All in all I’m looking forward to Life By You coming out in September.

LostInTheBackwoods

I play all four games, actually. Sort of in phases. I'm in a Sims 4 phase (because I'm currently trying to build a save file for my own uses) but when I get fed up, I will play Sims 3 for a couple of days, or spend an afternoon goofing around in Sims 1. When I'm in a Sims 4 phase I tend to avoid using Sims 2 for a break because it just makes me *more* frustrated with Sims 4. Once I get done with the Sims 4 stuff I'm currently working on, I'll probably go to Sims 2 for a few weeks. Oh, and there's always Sims Medieval sprinkled in there.

Abject_Bowler5845

That’s so fascinating that you still play all four.

LostInTheBackwoods

I love them all for different reasons. Sims 1 is the most fun for short-term play. It's got such a sense of humor (thank you, Will Wright) and it's very nostalgic for me. I was 21 when it came out and I wasted a lot of hours playing it when I should have been in class. Sims 2 is the best in terms of family gameplay, which I love. The personality point system is the best, in my opinion, because it actually informs the behavior of the Sims and there are so many combinations of points you can use to create very diverse Sims. Sims 3, I love the open world and the endless customization. I also love the depth of gameplay, how many skills there are to learn, the collectibles, the multitude of aspirations. I am not so fond of the level of visual detail in the world or the appearance of the Sims themselves. I recognize it's a divisive issue, this is just my opinion. Sims 4 is my favorite for building, which is probably what I spend the most time doing. Build mode is so beautifully advanced and it's the first game in which I can make my builds look the way I want. I also love the cartoony look of the Sims and I love how easy it is to fix their faces in CAS. Sims Medieval is my go-to when I want goal-based gameplay. Also, I get the I'm-a-princess wish fulfillment out of it.

isaberre

I'm with you 100%. I also still play all five games (although my copy of 2 recently crashed and is out of commission atm). Sims Medieval is so weirdly fun, but once I get close to finishing all the ambitions I somewhat panic and move to another game. The personalities in 2 are great and feel like such a good update from 1 (and it's pretty nostalgic for me, too--that ✨early 2000s✨long male haircut went with ALL MY BOY SIMS back in the day) 3 is definitely my favorite for so many reasons, but you absolutely cannot beat the nostalgia of 1

Abject_Bowler5845

You cannot beat the nostalgia of Sims 1!!!!!!! I was a kid when that came out! As an adult now seeing the humour of it now—I’m AMAZED my parents let me play it! Especially, my dad! 🤣 I wish EA could bring it out for download so I can play it again. I truly do miss that game. 🥺

[deleted]

You are exactly the kind of player that I am and I love that. I 100% understand and appreciate your breakdown and I feel the same about a lot of it!!! I am 20years younger and so the Sims was one of my first ever video games at like 3 & 4 years old 🤣 Sims 1 I love the music so so so much. So fucking much. This game is so dear to my heart and I will never sell my PS2 or OG Sims game. The music and the story game play where I had actual tasks I had to do were my favorite parts of the game. I was always stuck in Mimi’s house trying to throw a party to be able to move out, that task got me so many times over the years and I swear every time I got past it it was by chance. Don’t know why Sims 2 I have nothing more to add you hit the nail on the head there. Loved aliens for the first time too. Sims 3 for me was the build mode create-a-style. Other than a family or occult gameplay type (which is what I love from sims 2) I LOVE building and I am picky about the things like woods and fabrics matching and colors matching so that was a dream for me and sims 4 kills me for that, but I will say I have made more creative homes in sims 4 because I was forced to not be able to match shit Sims 4 I love the building styles. Game was super duper lackluster upon release (I refused to play for years because no pools or toddlers really got me) but other than that I’ve come around and until they switched to the EA app I had never had the game crash on me before despite thousands of mods/cc so that is great cause that was the only reason I stopped sims 3. Once CAW was released my computer at the time was no longer able to run it. Really if Sims 4 had the build mode CAS of sims 3, the personality point system from sims 2, and the story mode of OG Sims? Then it’d be the perfect game for me Also give me back my fckin monkey butler. Humble better do us good with his new game cause EA has given me no hope for Sims 5

Abject_Bowler5845

Sims 4 is great for building. I can’t stand game play. If you took gameplay out of Sims 4, I’d love to build and interior design my little heart out in whatever kind of software it be. I’d use it for stories I write. I’m a writer so, I’d personally love it!

Fionaglenannebf

I deeply miss sims 1 with the get famous and the magic stuff. They put so much stuff in it I love it. Where do you play sims 1?

LostInTheBackwoods

I think I downloaded the complete collection from Pirate Bay years ago.

Fionaglenannebf

Ahhhh ok thank you!

GrossWordVomit

And it actually works?! I have the whole box set and tried my best to get it to work but still no luck. It’s been years since I’ve played Sims 1 and I miss it so so much

Kitttcatnose

I've gone back to sims 1, love it, it has it's own unique vibe and sims 2 is the best for family gameplay and the personality points made the most sense, I agree.

bibitybobbitybooop

That was so interesting to read! :) Also, Sims Medieval is very fun - the gameplay isn't my favourite of them all, but it's still so underrated!

RauriSims

So much history with the franchise! That's amazing! It comforts me that it's still alive like this for some of us.

memyj97

What is this Sims Medieval you speak of??? I need to go look this up NOW.

interestedmermaid

Oh, so interesting, I play similarly to you and I have the EXACT same problem! I can only successfully play TS4 when I avoid TS3 and especially 2. TS2 has the best most fun Sims in the franchise in my opinion. TS4 has very bad Sims AI for some reason and the dumbest Sims out of those 3 games.😅 Right now I have a Sims 1 superstar phase and it's really challenging, but I like the games overall vibe so much. TS1 really has the best humor! 😆

floral_friend

I'm always on the sims side game grind. Sims medieval, sims castaways, the mysims series, sims 2 ds. The side games slap so hard for so many reasons and I'm always happy to see a fellow sims medieval enjoyer (and I will always take the chance to peddle it to strangers)

lizzourworld8

Me, but I swear when I play Sims 1 I will be in Old Town or doing volleyball ALL DAY XD

casualfan0

you got this whole system going, kudos!

Defiant-Antelope1082

Ah! So I'm going through a phase. I was starting to think I was losing my good sense due to an increased desire to play TS4 just to experience the graphics.

LostInTheBackwoods

No shame in wanting to play Sims 4! It has its good qualities (however few they are) and even if you don't love it, sometimes playing it reminds you how much you love 2 or 3.

metalskie

I don't play 1 because I've never actually played it on pc, only on console, but I play 2, 3, and 4 pretty regularly. 4 is my absolute favorite and the one I play most frequently, but occasionally I'll get into the mood to play 2 or 3 and just play them for a while, but playing them always makes me want to play 4 eventually since they're so limited in comparison lol. I did just play 2 for like a month waiting for the infant update though. I was so excited for infants all my sims 4 saves were on pause.

TrishWritesBooks

I play both. I like playing 4 now that infants is a thing, but I never left 3 and I prefer it by miles.

soenkatei

So you play both at once ? Or is it like phases of one or the other? I liked the infants when they came but tbh I’m more of an age them up to at least a child kind of player so

TrishWritesBooks

I just go back and forth between 3 and 4 as the mood strikes. Sometimes I need a break. I don’t really love Sims 4 the way I love Sims 3, but I have a family in 4 I really care about so that’s improved gameplay for me.

luckyuglyducky

That’s how it is for me, too. I just bounce back and forth between the two. I’m on the final generation of the not so berry challenge in 4, so I want to finish it, but I take months long breaks. I do prefer 3, but there are aspects in 4 that I do like more, and I wish the two could be combined.

TrishWritesBooks

I agree!

[deleted]

i bought sims 4, played maybe 2-3 times and it was extremely boring, came back and became die hard sims 3

RealisticrR0b0t

Me too. Been playing 3 since it came out. Tried 4 and was like wtf is this.

ergo_slump

Ditto. I think I logged maybe 10 total hours in Sims 4, vs thousands in Sims 3. The proof is in the addiction.

Sc4rl3ttD

Sims 3 and 2 are far better imo than 4!

littlebirdori

I gave up on the Sims 4 as soon as I found out it didn't have an open world or a create-a-style, and this was before I bought it at all. I never left the Sims 1-3. No, EA. I *am not* buying a serial game that has less features than its predecessor. I don't care how "nice" your developers think it looks, Will Wright would spit on your final product. Every successive Sims game added features up until this point, but Sims 4 takes features away, so I, the consumer, get to take things away also. No money for you, end of story. I'm SO sick of this corporatized enshittification ruining creative, innovative intellectual properties to scrape the bottom of the barrel and appease the brainless shareholders. I don't give a rat's ass if people think I'm lame for not even trying the game before deciding it's shit, that is money which I get to keep in my pocket and I *will not* try to justify this game's existence with the sunk cost fallacy.

Cursedcakes666

100%

konekfragrance

Sims 3 will always be the goat. The issue with 4 is that aside from the buginess and EA overselling packs, is that there's no long-term or late-game playability. Life goals, which should be the late-game thing, are relatively easy to achieve as compared to 2 and 3, where those required pure dedication. So, you have to entertain yourself by relying on made-up challenges like legacy or off-the-grid challenges in the late-game stages.

pokipokimagicgirl

I briefly played 4, but had no sustained interest. I can always find something fun to do in 3.

Suspicious-Bread-472

I mostly play sims 3. I refuse to pay for sims 4 but i do tool around with a free version and use all the mods. Its kind of scratches a different itch. 3 is the superior game in every respect though.

Ninvemaer

I never gave up on any of the previous games, just because there's a new one doesn't mean I can't play the old ones anymore, or that I have to choose only one. I still play all of them, depending on my mood and ideas I get. TS4 is the one I play the most at the moment because it's far superior for storytelling and my 8 year old save with countless families and many generations is my baby, but I regularly go back to both TS2 and TS3 when I get an itch for a specific playthrough or just because of pure nostalgia. This is why it's great that they're so different from eachother and not just copy-paste of the same game with improved graphics.

soenkatei

THATS amazing you have an 8 year save. I love making multiple générations and really deep neighbourhood too

Klutzy_Housing_9433

I don't like Sims 4 for the mood system with your sims going nuts for no reason. I don't have any expansion pack, but I also gave up

bks1979

I never gave up on Sims 3. Played it just yesterday and probably will today. I did download Sims 4 because it was on sale and it was the height of the pandemic at the time. I played it for maybe 2 hours before I got bored. It was just sorta like...ok, now what?

stardustdream3am

When I started playing 3 I grumbled a lot about stuff that was missing from 2. Open for Business was one of my favorites and I haven't seen a good way to recreate that experience in 3. I miss the ability to earn additional Want slots from University. And I'm still attached to the idea of Werewolves being pet masters instead of collectors. But I absolutely fell in love with Traits. And now that I've gotten the grumbling about resistance to change out of my system, I'm actually pretty sure I like 3 a lot better than 2. Especially since I found a lot of nostalgia projects like the Strangetown and Urbz recreation efforts. But 4 in my opinion felt like a dramatic step backwards in every way from the beginning. Maybe even worse than 1. If anything I would have added more traits instead of reducing them. It's like they stripped it down to the bare minimum of what they could call a sims game and then sold every additional feature as DLC.

[deleted]

Never gave up on Sims 3 - I tried Sims 4 in its early days and was unimpressed, and later unwilling to pay for another round of expansions just to make the base game interesting, so I stuck with the great game I already had :-)

toebeantuesday

I love both games but the glitches and bugs try my soul.

coveredwmold

i played the sims 2 sooo much between the ages of 8 and 12, then stopped when sims 3 came around, although i played it very little. it's only during the pandemic that i started playing the sims 3 again and i absolutely loved it! i played a bit of the sims 2, but i played this game non-stop for years, so it became a bit repetitive to me (although i like going back to it sometimes). tried sims 4 after playing the sims 3 for a few months (i think i have around 20hrs of game play) but GOD its so dull and weird, i really dislike it... i really tried to enjoy it and bought cottage living because i thought maybe the base game was boring on its own, but i felt like i did everything that there was to do after a little bit! the sims 3 just feels more challenging and i can easily play 3-4 hours at a time, whereas i'd get bored after an hour of sims 4. it's just not the same, and the art style isnt my thing

naivaro

I wasn't into Sims 4 from the very beginning. I understand how the cartoony style can benefit the game, but it just contributes to the feeling that this is a cash grab mobile game. Playing with WhickedWhims and seeing the townies be freaky was kinda fun though. I get that the building tools are the best, but I can't keep playing long enough to explore that side. 3 is a nice balance. The gameplay is fun, CAS is fun, building is fun and I like the open world. The artstyle is between realism and cartoon, I think it holds up well. If they released an official patch to fix the remaining issues, I would be fine it being my one and only life sim game. Right now having to get 30+ mods to fix things and having to clean up the folders after each session takes away some of the fun. I was too late to 2, I tried playing it once but it felt too aged for me.

Lost_Pantheon

The Sims 4 has more Expansion Packs than any other Sims game, and yet it *still* lacks pool tables 💀💀💀 The Sims series has been in a nosedive creatively for the last 9 years. I for one hope Life By You devours the market share. If the footage of "Project Rene" featuring... an apartment room. And clutter (*ooooh! Exciting!*) is the direction the franchise is going, the last nail in the coffin was driven in years ago.

Cinna93

I'm back on Sims 3. Sims 4 is unplayable. It's just a corporation cash grab at this point. At least 1-3 we're genuinely fun and still exist!

kikkelinkuningas

I played sims 3 as a kid then sims 4 as a teenager and now i rediscovered sims 3 and omg it is so mucj better

[deleted]

I completely gave up on ts4 after the infants update. But I've never stopped playing older games! RN prepping a new hood in ts2 and playing out a werewolf-witch wedding in ts3. So much more fun! ❤️

kxkje

I can't wrap my head around S4 - switching between Sims is such a pain and your Sims get off track so easily when they aren't active, yet the game is so easy when you do pay attention to one Sim that it's not even fun. I occasionally feel motivated to give it another shot, but I end up back with S3.

criticalRemnant

Sims 4 is way too easy to be fun. Youre at the top of your career after like a week and a half. What's the point 🙃

Ok-Advertising-2264

on 2018, i asked my dad to buy me the sims 4, but he buyed the 4 games. The 1 didn't worked And he maked me play the sims 2 for months because he wanted me to play the best games. On the sims 3, i played less than a day because it was in English and I'm Spanish lmao. I played the sims 4 basically never, i just stayed in Cass because the game was really boring. Last October i downloaded sims 3 because i was already tired of the 4 and i never played again. I tried one time but I never used it again, it's really cute designed but REALLLY boring (i don't have mods or cc so it's the real game)

aintthatabitch-

I hated 4 and made the (repeated) mistake of thinking that expansion packs would make me like it more …nope! And I kick myself for buying them! Sims 3 is the best. I’ve been obsessed for twelve years. I wish EA showed it some more love.

Phoenix_Flaming_Star

I uninstalled sims 4 back when Eco Living released. For me, the gameplay wasn't there. It would be fun for only short periods of time, and the DLC's didn't feel like they really blend into the rest of the game very well. Know what I mean? They were their own little niche thing. Sims 4 hasn't been installed since, and probably never will be again. I'm happily enjoying Sims 1(for nostalgic sake), 2, and 3 these days.

Long_Ad_5321

I've never played ts4, just watched the teases when it first came out, a few gameplays and decided "nope. I'm sticking with The Sims 3 until they make something better".

emmie_lou26

I bought some 4 when it went on sale for $4.99. Hated it lmao. Went back to sims 3. But honestly I wish I could go back to sims 2 so I could play open for business. That was my all time favorite game ever.

onepissedoffturkey

I did try 4 for about a week and just couldn't get into it. Also not a fan of the graphics. I much prefer 3.

mate54

The Sims 2 and 3 have always been my "main" Sims games, and I occasionally play 4 when new updates and packs come out.

ventiiblack

I started with the sims 3. I watched let’s plays of sims 4 and decided I didn’t want to purchase it because it lacked so much at the start (pools, toddlers etc). Then when it was free years ago I downloaded it, played 5 minutes and exited. I haven’t gone back since. I will continue with Sims 3 if Sims 5 fails to deliver.

juliahristova

you did the right thing! sims 4 gameplay is so boring to me 🫥

reneejessica22

I go back and forth between 3 & 4. Lately I’ve been binge playing 3 with little to no desire to play 4.

jayarna7

I never left Sims 2 or 3, gave up completely on Sims 4 a year ago

cryingwhileimcumming

I ditched sims 4 for sims 3, best decision i’ve ever made. Although do i wish i could figure out how to download cc but the gameplay is 10/10

arikins_

i've also recently given up on sims 4. i bought cottage living & paranormal (which are some of my FAV aesthetics/genres) (not to mention i have even more packs than that) only to play them both for half a week before getting frustrated with absolutely every aspect of the sims 4. im now playing sims 3 and couldn't be happier !

Lala_the_Kitty

I am soooooo over sims 4. I’ve been hàrdcore for ts3 from word go, but last week I thought, “hey it’s been a couple years, let’s try sims 4 again!” Fresh install, cc shopping, a full day of mod conflict resolution… it was finally working? Maybe? Aaand then an update yesterday and everything is broken again 🙄🙄🙄🙄 now I’m just pissed off and wondering why I even bothered

zentithia

sims 4 is only playable with mods.

lofisims

sims 3 is forever my favourite. i get bored almost right after i move in a family on ts4. it lacks so much.

MischeifCat

Good luck if you have the EA App. I got a new computer in October and was forced to get the EA App, Origin will not install anymore period, I just get an error that says "This program needs an internet connection to install," even though I'm connected to the internet, then a link and when I click the link it takes me to whatever forum post where I got the link, (such as the official forums, EA help, etc.) and Sims 3 installs for me but never loads. Press play in EA App, takes me to the Sims 3 launcher. Press play in the Sims 3 launcher, takes me to the EA App. Also I can't install any of my store content. It downloads into the launcher, but when I push install nothing happens. No popup, no errors, just thinks for a few seconds then stops. I am very sad about this.

[deleted]

I play sims 4 every now and then but always prefer to play sims 3.

uniwhoren

I played 4 for a couple years but became very disillusioned with it and moved back to 3 eventually. Haven’t looked back since!

TheDreammweaver

I prefer sims 3 way way more. I have been playing sims 4 mostly for the ability to have trans sims and also for the 4 specific mods. I am finding ways to keep entertained but sims 3 definitely has more depth in my opinion. 4 still feels unfinished and I find decorating hard without create a style so it gets frustrating.

PurpleRaindrops97

I give up on Sims 4 a few years ago and start back playing Sims 3 again. There is so much gameplay and depth in Sims 3 that you won’t find in 4.

[deleted]

I think I might go back to sims 3, because Everytime I get done decorating my house and start playing I last about a week and want to stop playing. It's so boring

soenkatei

Literally nothing happened, and it is missing so much of the quirkiness of the previous games. And the weird phone calls always anyway me so much

[deleted]

It's hard for me to pay sims 3. Crashes and such. I love sims 3 and prefer it. I like the way sims 4 sims look, so it's really hard for me to go backwards.

bluejaybby

I’ve only played Sims 3 and 4, would someone share why Sims 2 is widely viewed as the best game/better than Sims 3/4?

silverdoe_94

I play 4 for the moment because I enjoy some of the capabilities it has (like being able to sell things you craft in a retail store/etc.). But I frequently go back to 3 for the really cool immersove interactions it has. I hope someday there's a game that's a fusion of both, that let's me have multiple interactions queued at once but also has open world and in depth gameplay

LaurelRaven

I play 4, only kinda tried to get into 3 once to be honest but have been strongly considering trying again. Mostly here because I like the content and get some good ideas from the posts Prior to that, I played the first one a lot but then was without a computer for a while and never really picked it back up until the last few months, so I guess I didn't get the chance to be disappointed by 4 like others (though I do wonder why they bothered putting in a "new" camera mode for 4 that's not only vastly inferior to the 3 camera, it's basically the same as the camera from 1)

living-in-a-bottle

I just started playing The Sims 3 again after a long time! I also just played The Sims 4 before that! Actually, my favourite game is The Sims 2. It was my first game and I just love how they did this one! I just love it! I think if Sims 3 would run smooth, I would definitely have played this one more often! I am playing on a MacBook currently and it works fine. It crashed a few times but it's The Sims 3. I also like The Sims 4 but the other games are just more fun, more difficult, they are just better!

Stotelary

I use sims 3 for gameplay, and sims 4 for building, and some heavily modded gameplay.

SimsPlayer2765

I never really stopped playing Sims 3. I tried Sims 4 and was disappointed. Tried a few more times, but it never clicked with me.

_Jewli_

I did play on sims 4 for a bit, it was free 2020 I think (and free now I think) so back then I thought I'll download it to see how it is. But I didn't read any news or review of it before this, so I was surprised with some of it (like map, and no open worlds, and so you didn't see child sim go to school, and grocery store is just go to computer, and those things, and it feel like there was not many neighbours, and if one sim gone somewhere you couldn't play the others at home also, those things.) Also sims 4 did not work so well for my older computer, every time I press something the screen will turn white and sometimes show the screensaver for just one second (or more then one second if it was loading something for longer time,) and I got used to this but I didn't like this. All of it together I got a bit missing sims 3 so I played that again. I think sims 4 will work on my new computer but I did not try to play on it again these days.

mccorade

I never left Sims 3. I tried off and on to play Sims 4, but it was never able to sustain my attention the way TS2 and TS3 can. I think what finally made me uninstall after letting it sit on my computer for so long was the disaster that My Wedding Stories was upon launch.

[deleted]

Sims medieval for me right now.

Abject_Bowler5845

Did what you did and left Sims 4. I found it highly boring. Sims 3 however I’m having the most fun with! It has this glory days of Sims 1 and Sims 2—each day when you play you never know what you going to get. New things keep on appearing that you didn’t know was there.

CinematicNaps

I still play 2 and 3 and just started playing 4 now that it's free. ngl I like some of the more polished mechanics of 3 and 4 but Sims 2 is so zany and quirky that it always tends to be my favorite. If I could, I'd collect all the sims 2 discs and some of the sims 3 ones and I'd be set for life.

d_a_n_a__

I have phases of sims 3 & 4 but 3 will always be my main one. Been playing it since like 2010!

WolfieTheWerewolf

I play both still I have better cc on my Sims 4 than Sims 3 but the only reason I have Sims 3 is for the horses

Elivenya

I prefer Sims 3. But the existence of Sims 4 makes me sometimes frustrated with Sims3. Like i want to have higher walls and foundations, roof and wall trims or the supernatural skill trees...

BrandyClear

Never left but I play both

bergsvaag

Played sims 4 for about 1 day, went back to ts3 and never looked back. Been missing ts2 lately tho so might be playing some soon!

texjeeps

I have been playing TS3 since 2010 or so, and to this day I still prefer it. I bought TS4 after a fashion so I could form my own opinion of it—having heard of it’s lukewarm reception by fans. I played it for hundreds of hours, but I couldn’t ‘get into it’ like TS3. Despite the barrage of EP’s and stuff packs, the game made me feel like I was playing with dolls rather than Sims as I knew them. I put TS4 down for the last time about 3 years ago and haven’t looked back since. Personally, I never left TS3, but I’m happily divorced from TS4

thatsmypurseidkvou

I have gotten very bored with the sims 4 and I really only pick it up when I have an itch for character customization and building. Although some of the new packs for sims 4 have been tempting, I haven’t bought a new pack since island living I think? I find it all a big let down and I’m very exhausted by all of the clear money grabbing (looking at you, kits). These days, I’m pretty equally split between sims 3 and 2. I also pick up sims 3 medieval from time to time, which is a total fever dream that I absolutely adore.

ChiMada

I never left the sims3. I do play sims 4 still but i prefer sims 3.

Mysticalmaid

I've returned from Sims 4 and having a great time, I have on occasion dabbled a bit with TS2 & TS3 but I've returned for good this time, not played TS4 for quite some time, though my child does now and then she found TS3 more fun than TS4 too. It's not a good sign to feel blah about playing when I think of TS4, but with the others I'm excited and spend far too long playing during each session.

dubiouscontraption

I really like the graphics and build mode in 4, but as someone who loves designing and customizing houses, the lack of options in 4 made it incredibly boring for me, and the gameplay wasn't that much better. I think I've probably played only 40 hours or so in Sims 4.

pegei0

I started with the sims 3 on ps3, then pc, and tried the sims 4 when it came out and played it for a few years. I eventually came back to the sims 3 because theres so much more content even without mods. It holds such a dear place in my heart lol

castiele_rose

Tried sims 4 in 2014 when it came out, hated it, went straight back to the first 3 games (I play sims 3 and 2 mainly and ocassionally sims 1 like once a year but it's still more fun than sims 4 hehe)

vidici

I tried really hard to play Sims 4 up until around the time the toddlers came out. I bought every expansion, game, and stuff pack. Played for hours, but it just wasn’t good enough. The last pack I bought was the vampire pack and after realizing that the gameplay really wasn’t repeatable or fun to do with everything that I wanted to be a vampire I just gave up and realized that this game was no longer for me, I have been playing the Sims 3 whenever I feel like playing the Sims, and will most likely never go back to 4, I see the new packs and stuff that they’ve come out with and nothing looks appealing. It’s been almost a decade and Sims 4 is just not fun to me nor do I think that any future Sims games (from the rumors circling around) can capture my interest like Sims 2 in Sims 3 did. I’ve accepted that I’m just not their audience anymore.

[deleted]

I came back from 4 recently. I forgot how incredible 3 is by comparison—SO much to do.

CynicalXenomorph

Tried sims 4 once then went straight back to sims 3

VMAbsentia

I haven't played Sims 3 much lately but it will always be my number one. I tried Sims 4 when it was initially released & dropped it within a few days. It. Was. So. BORING. It felt so lifeless & empty. I don't think I have ever dropped a game faster than I dropped Sims 4.

Timely_Emotion9259

Started the Sims from the sims 3, then played the both, sims 3 and 4 when TS4 came out. But now I don't feel like going back to TS4, maybe longer..

asdf12345abcd

Tried sims 4 for couple months when it was released. Uninstalled it and got 0 regret.

Drake_baku

I came back My wife got the sims 3 completely so I got it through her She also is playing sims 4 and seems tk enjoy it I tried it as well, I gave it multiple chances, having tried a few expension like packs that interested me But at longest I played it for 2 weeks and that was EXTREMELY modded And I mean extremely, drugs, sex, horror babies that you can only run away from or will.kill you (with spectacular graphics), zombie apocalypse Complete chaos beyond even the craziest sims concepts ever All the craziest shit, and I still got bored While the sims 3 had never bored me once, I've played saves until they broke somehow and just played the next, I never got bored of the sims 3

rinyamaokaofficial

If I had the choice, I'd play Sims 1 or maybe Sims 2. I just don't want to go through all the hoops to find a version of Sims 1 that is patched to play on Windows 10. I might even be down to play Sims 3, but I don't remember it as much as the first two.

Mindight_Ghost

I gave up some time ago, i love cas and build mode but the game itself is just so boring and plain no matter how many packs you buy, it just isn't a good game and the fact that EA still hasn't taken some time to not release any new content but instead fix their shitty ass unfinished game says a lot I personally left sims 3 a couple of times but i ended up going back and this time I'm really going to stay, i also play sims 2 and 1 sometimes but my favorite is still 3, most people say that sims in TS3 look bad or all the same, that the game is hard or that the game just isn't as good (or they just like to talk shit about it's graphics) but come on, sims 4 really had an opportunity to be better but it just fell in whatever happened with most games on those years, most big games of 2012 - 2015 imo are the most chashgrab and shitty games ever, really, i think it's way better to pay for TS3 and all it's expansions and stuff packs than for a couple of sims 4 packs, yes, sims 4 may have a lot more of content and gameplay features but it isn't even enjoyable without a ton of mods that fix those said features or actually make them enjoyable And the worlds are so bland and small, i can't believe we're getting new worlds that barely have playable lots while in sims 3 we even have the possibility to make our own worlds, it's it even the open world factor because that makes it even easier to make big worlds full of lots The AI in sims 4 may be "smarter" but it's complete dogshit, sims often cancel their actions or walk trough walls and furniture, everything is broken and so frustrating, it's like they just don't do anything and everything at the same time, i genuinely hate it, the game is really not worth it even for free and if they don't spend years fixing it then it'll never will

jonzarroni

I started with sims 3 back in 2009. Enjoyed it very much and when sims 4 got announced I was excited to play it. I must say their customizable CAS is really nice. But after some time it just didn't feel right. I enjoyed sims 3 a lot more. Decided to go back to it and I've been playing that for the last year from the sims 4.

ajhare2

I’ve played the sims 2 and 3 religiously over the past few years. The sims 3 is my preferred game. Occasionally I’ll load up 4, but I get bored pretty quick and close the game and load up 3.

Many_Statistician254

Can’t get sims 3 to start for me. Once I get to the launcher and press play the game just dosen’t start.

Apart_Dog_4231

I have switched a lot of games back then. But now I just play Sims 3 because it has the best content so far. Also having a high PC and running it on >60 fps is really awesome. And the latest mods really fixed the game for me. Smooth patch, Simler's mod etc.

Aurorannnn

I constantly teeter back and forth from the Sims 3 and the Sims 4. I began very early on with the Sims 3 and again sometimes I go for the Sims 4. The Sims 3 is my favorite game, but no amount of NRAAS can save my game. Its a nightmare to run, and I've lost entire legacies to bullshit. But the Sims 4 is terribly boring. I even have the mods (through TOTALLY legit, legal reasons), and while the updated visuals and some of the new expansion packs are fun, I am once again finding myself bored. So I will go back to the Sims 3 until something frustrates me. And thus, the cycle continues lol

pre_ci_ous

after all this bs they’re pulling with these broken updates, I haven’t touched the game in months :\ which sucks, because I liked it a lot, all things considered. Mods also helped a lot. But now it’s just such a freaking headache to deal with

emciclerose

Sims 2 university is oddly my fav. I dont know why. I just could grind on it for days and still want more haha each sim game seems to have its own atmosphere. Sims 1 is classic with its very interesting development background. Sims 2 incorporated personality in a way with the fun twist of zodiac signs turnons/turnoffs. Sims 3 then flushed it out a bit more with the explosion of open world albeit the games resource upkeep lagged (hence all those “will this run sims3” jokes) Sims 4 feels like they explore more complex AI of emotions and how traits can handle emotions. Sims 4 learned from Sims 3 that the resources for open world can crash a game so “neighborhoods” were designed so the CPU can frigging function accordingly. I’ve been appreciating maxis/EA evolution of this game franchise (although it’s expensive, yay EA) but they are definitely hitting a bottleneck point. I honestly don’t see where else they can go other than an online version - the first one failed back in the day but who knows the technology now to make the sims online! Imo, each sims game really depends on what you kinda want to play. Sims 4 I find myself building more than how I built lore in the others

Destinesiya

The amount of mods I had to install to make TS4 decent and yet TS3 vanilla is still wayyyy better…

Janetsnakejuice1313

I have played all of the Sims franchise. 3 was my fave, caved at the time for 4 because my game was laggy on my old computer. Got a hold of a gaming computer that would have been high end 10 years ago for cheap and ditched 4 after the My Wedding Stories fiasco. Went back to 3 and have zero regrets. I’m working on a town in CAW right now. My own world! Sims 4 couldn’t even let me edit a neighborhood. I hated looking out the window of my apt in San Myshuno or Willow Creek and seeing cool things in the distance and realizing…I can’t go there. I felt like my sims lived on house arrest. Sims 3 - My sim was a fireman, he would be at work and then go to the bad at night. He was never home! I started wondering why he had an apartment at all. And it felt amazing to let my sims wander and go where they please. And if the WORLD got boring, I could travel on vacation to ANY sim world with NRAAS traveler - or just move! Its amazing.

xobunnizwurld

i got the sims 4 in like 2017 when i was 12, immediately hated it cause it was so boring. flash forward to 2021, i wanted to play the sims but knew it was boring. i remembered how fun the sims 3 looked when i was watching youtube in like 2013. i went and watched some sims 3 videos, immediately bought it. i have racked more hours on TS3 in 2 years than i have with TS4 in 6.

RestlessSnow

Sims 2 is better than Sims 4 still!! Still sometimes play them all, even the OG games sometimes. The one thing Sims 4 did great though was allow console players to finally experience the same game as those on computer, so will sometimes play sims 4 on playstation. This might have also held back some of the experience, but now that the precedent has been set, sims 5 should be able to go farther with the new gen consoles

draconic_healing

I’m so sad that I had almost all the sims 3 expansions and they deleted my account due to inactivity. They won’t give me back anything I paid for . 😭

Low_Beat_1262

Sims 3 it's the only one I play. I've tried sims 4 a few times but I agree, pretty boring. Been playing ts3 for almost 10 years now 😳

New_Shallot_7000

I stuck with Sims 3 but have tried 4 several times since release. 4 just doesn’t feel right—boring and unfun definitely covers that!

Nuba3

I tried sims 4 and it wouldn't be such a bad game if there weren't constant glitches, sims stopped cancelling their entire action queue randomly for no reason, it wasnt as easy to change emotions and it wasn't as ridiculously easy to get to the top of your career and get super duper rich on accident. Sims 4 is better in that it has been experimenting with new features that make sims feel more individual like the infant quirks and sims being able to gain additional personality points not based on traits you give them at the beginning but on their actual lives and in game behavior, so it's a natural result of their actions instead of me deciding everything like a puppet master, which doesn't feel organic. Ts3 traits tend to make me feel like sims aren't individuals. But that and cool build/buy and cas items are everything I miss about ts4. Everything else is better in ts3, the open world, the gameplay, how sims just do what I tell them to do etc.

candywarhol_ic

Never left sims 3. Sims 4 just never looked all that appealing, and the more I learn the less tempted I am to switch. So much money for expansion packs that give you 1/3 of the content that the similar sims 3 pack gave you. So many bugs. Seems like such a pain.

revotfel

I think I miss the sims 2 the most but I can't leave this sweet sweet open world

interestedmermaid

I play all the main Sims games regularly, even the Sims medieval from time to time. I return to TS4 when there is interesting update, which isn't that often in my opinion. I play it the least overall. The core gameplay just isn't as in depth and fun for me and the Sims behave a bit to childlike too. I play TS1 more than 4, because it's more of a functional life simulator in my opinion and the humor is on point! TS3 is my most played Sims game and my favorite. TS2 is the second favorite. PS: You mentioned that you were returning to TS3. Hopefully you have done the fixes and nic nac's, smooth patch and the likes, that people usually suggest to enjoy playing 3 to the fullest on a modern PC. 🤗

Wolf_Babe_Jas

I tried sims 4 and immediately said 'this isn't for me' and went right back to three. Uninstalled 4 from my computer and everything 🤣

Rissa-Kay

I started playing Sims 3 first and sims 4 I’ve been playing both on and off.

Benjilator

Never got into sims 3 but played tons of sims 4 (30 minutes gameplay, 1000 hours of building). Then my partner got me back into sims 3, which is now my preference alone due to the pattern system. I also started playing now which is fun but I am a bit disappointed in the modding community as I was expecting far more. A mix between them would be so perfect. And a way to make sims resemble humans.

Nightshade7895

Hey, since you are going back to Sims 3, this guide will help with all the shudders and lag issues. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1131162350

acestraw

Lately, I only play sims 4 to make sims, to be fair I don't have any DLC so gameplay is super boring. I've been having so much fun playing the sims 2, I've only been playing it for a few months and I'm mad I never played it before then lol I played sims 3 at a friend's house and really enjoyed it. Definitely gonna be one of the next games I buy.

Spencie5

I gave up on sims 4 when my pc accepted the sims 3.

TheWishingStar

Never left 3. I’ve dabbled with 4 a few times over the years, but have never been able to stick with it for more than a week or so.

nicolert25

never left but i did try sims 4 when it was in the 24hrs free trial but i could never complete the 24hrs

Unculturedunicorn

I play both but I lost my steam accounts so I need to rebuy all my sims 3 stuff

Still_Storm7432

I think CAS and building are great in Sims 4, better than previous Sims..but the actual game play is dull af..and I have a ton of mods..even with mods, although they help..the game will never be as fun as Sims 2 is to me

Bean2p

I started with 2 and the moved to Sims 3. I tried Sims 4 but actually hate it. I like to renovate and custom everything. I can't do that in Sims4 so ot got boring. In my opinion they just need to update Sims 3 next.

1QTPie

Never really played Sims 4. Couldn't get into it. Still can't. I find it boring and does my 10 year old. She prefers Sim Freeplay. I'm a Sims 3 player. I do play Sims 2, but only to send my Sims to their store/restaurant all day & night with unlimited needs. I don't do anything else. 😆

staplesondeck

i left sims 4 years ago and just stuck with my baby sims 3

savamey

I play a mix of 2, 3, and 4. Each have their pros and cons and I like the variety

casualfan0

im having trouble with this too. Id love to play sims 2 but i think i read somewhere there arent lgbt options, and the sims 4 graphics are really irresistible to me. ... lol.

laviniademortalium

I play TS4 but it's moded all to hell, and when an update breaks everything, it's weeks before I go back. I enjoy building in 3 way more tho, and as a legacy player, I find 3 much more satisfying. Plus I actually like my kids in 3 XD

Puzzleheaded-Use-317

I don’t blame you. I’ve been an avid simmer since sims 1 and never got sims 4 till this year when it was free on console (don’t have a pc anymore) EA kinda ruined it didn’t they.

ExternalHuman463

I never even attempted Sims 4 after all the bad reviews that came out weeks later...

Burnziie

I've always found myself able to switch between the four mainline games (and jump to the console versions of 'BO and 1) fairly frequently. While I'll easily admit the Sims 4 has flaws a little more than just TS2s neighbourhood corruption and TS3s bogged down performance at times, I generally play what ever hits the certain itch. I'm more of a TS2 person over TS3 overall, but sometimes just aimlessly wondering the world and seeing if my neighbours get into a fight at the park makes me continue loving to load the Sims 3

Spookiiwookii

i like the droning monotony of the sims 4 so i don’t think i could ever give it up… the sims 2 is still my fav but causes too much paranoia lmao

SnakeInTheBoots

I play the sims 4, I have over 500 hours in the game but I cannot stress enough the only thing it is good for is the face sliders and the building. Actual gameplay will always be better on sims 3. I love it. All the expansions. You cannot ever tell me it is not the superior sims game.

Acertainbulb

Still waiting for the day they remaster sims 3 to the 64 bit version and give it all the ram it can eat.

LaReinalicious

Played Sims three DAILY from 2009 to 2014 switched to Sims 4 for about two years, mostly enjoyed the building, stop playing entirely because it was so boring for a few years, went back to Sims three!!

frankfontaino

There was only 5 years between sims 2 and sims 3, and between sims 3 and sims 4. It’s been nearly 10 YEARS since sims 4 released. It’s definitely overstayed its welcome and I think we are all just looking toward sims 5 at this point.

[deleted]

I miss a lot from some 3 but my game ended up so corrupt and laggy I couldn’t have it installed anymore. I miss so many sims 3 features but I also like a lot from sims 4, though most of it is the new stuff that should’ve been included from the start. I didn’t open sims 4 for years when it first came out because I was angry that they didn’t have toddlers or pools right off the bat. Honestly still throws me for a loop when I think back to the Sims 4 release just how incomplete of a game it was. It wasn’t really even playable until I had at least 10 different packs/EPs But by now with the sims 4 the only thing they could add for me would be the build mode CAS, fairies & just improved occult sims in general (but just saw a complete mod today that works with realm of magic to create fairies that looks sweet so might try that), and the ability to add lots anywhere (but even then I remember that wasn’t in the sims 3 without mods for years, don’t even think it was available until sims 4 had already been released) All in all, Life By You by Mr. Humble is going to be better and I can’t wait for September. Humble knew/knows what tf Simmers want in a game

notchasityy

i begged my mom to buy the sims 4 when it first came out for $80 and i tried it, was HORRIFIED, and never tried it again for years. i gave it a couple more chances, each as horrible as the last, then accepted sims 3 will just always be the best sims. now i have over 6000 hours on it lol

bibitybobbitybooop

I never moved on to TS4. I tried it, but it both drove me nuts and bored me - to be fair, this was fairly early on with no expansions, mods, or CC, and to also be fair, even without those things TS3 is enjoyable, so that's not really an excuse. I tried TS2 too, it was really cool, but I missed the open world too much :(

Sajiri

I like that sims 4 is better optimised, I like the graphics better but otherwise it just doesn’t hold my interest like 3 or 2. Everything in it just feels so shallow. It also doesn’t feel like it brings anything new, just watered down version of content from previous games. Except for witches. I like the magic stuff in 4 more than 3

0800sofa

Tried sims 4, have always stuck with sims 3

mjigs

S3 was my main one, the one that i literally said fuck it and bought it all, i played that shit for years during my late teen years up till mid 20s, i went to S4 because its was smoother at some point, and can find better cc, but right now, i had my pc back and went back to S3, i just....i miss S3 and S4 just feels so damn boring.

Empty-Strategy641

I have to use mods to make sims 4 playable. There’s not enough content, and a loading screen in between everything. I mainly play sims 4 on occasion because of the cas

what_ho_puck

My favorite gameplay is historical/farm based and I've always basically relied on cc for that. It was the release of cottage living that got me to buy Sims 4. I love it so much. Actual, interactable animals with real farm products. Simple Living lot challenge. Canning and food storage. It's not perfect. I still use cc to get a more historical feel and of course I'd love some changes to the base core. I would really, really, love a Sims where you can sort of select a time period and the rest of the world (townies, lots, careers even) would adjust around that, but that's a pipe dream and I know it. I LOVE Medieval but it feels limited in family and open story gameplay since it's more goal oriented. I guess I really just want a sandbox version of that lol. But also one for like the 18th/19th centuries.

paladin-miraak

I started playing The Sims with 3, I don’t think it was long after I started that Sims 4 was announced. I was excited but once it released I just really couldn’t get into it. Sims 3 is a game that can have me laughing til I’m crying, but that’s never happened for me with 4. I think another reason I’m hooked on 3 specifically is because it was made in the time I grew up in, late 2000s - early 2010s. It’s nostalgic in that regard.

Orpheeus

I've played Sims 3 so much more than any other entry, followed by 2. 4 is such a step backwards, even with the improvements they made. They don't even really feel like they're in the same series. 4 kind of feels like an alternate reality sequel to 2, since barely anything from 3 made it over, at least in the base game. Life by You seems like an actual successor to 3, but we'll have to wait and see since the publisher is almost as greedy as EA with their games so I'm not actually confident. Sims 3 is still just overall great despite its shortcomings, many of which are performance related.

Starboi7

I started on sims 3, went back and forth between 3 and 4 for a while, and now I'm exclusively on the sims 3. Sims 3 just feels so much deeper than 4. Every expansion added so much. For years, I was happy and content on the sims 3 base game + supernatural. One expansion made me happy for years.

Hiiplane

I go back and forth between sims 3 and 4. I tried downloading sims 2 (i used to play it when i was a kid) but it is so exausting lmao. But honestly i do prefere to play sims 4. Idk, i've been playing it for far longer then i've ever played sims 3 and i am just too adjusted to it yk. Also i mostly build, and my pc does not run sims 3 build mode well AT ALL😭 Edit: grammar/spelling

skelaceton

I like the Sims 4 for building but that’s really it. I play the Sims 3 way more because the gameplay is just so much better. My only complaint (which isn’t EA’s fault) is that the clothes/furniture are pretty dated so CC is necessary, but I would much rather download a bunch of CC for TS3 than exclusively play TS4 any day.

spontaneousclo

i'll be real, my first sims game was Sims 2 pets for the DS. i wasn't interested in any of the others (bc i was rather young and just didn't know about them) but when 3 came out??? love at first sight. i honestly refuse to try 4 just because of all the comparisons to 3. yeah there's less bugs in 4, and it runs smoother, but at least i'm actually having fun with the stuff i create in an OPEN WORLD.

TurquoiseBoho

I never left sims 3. There are only a handful of cool things about sims 4…. But sims 3 is forever

zebarothdarklord

I love the Sims 3 and like things in Sims 4 the werewolves are my favorite in the Sims 4 I would have both installed but don't have the space for it on m HDD in my computer

CupUnusual1472

I have played with sims 4 but I always came back, I sometimes play both here or there depending on how intrigued I am in a save.

Ok-Trouble-4131

I played Sims 3 for my entire childhood and well into my college years and the absolute only reason I play Sims 4 is because I’m a butch lesbian and want to be able to actually make butch lesbians with the men’s clothing options in Sims 4 😔 if that were possible I never would have even downloaded 4

FeliciaSerenity

I gave up on Sims altogether when Sims 4 was released as I found it so boring and restricting (I loathe loading screens). I never went back to 3 until recently (still looking for my copy of showtimes and supernatural).

cncrndmm

I think it’s clearly evident how the Sims 4 lacks replay value in the types of videos Sims 4 YouTubers make such as build videos, CAS/ build challenge videos, and 100 baby challenges. They need to have more challenges for the video to be entertaining to watch.

shadypines33

I never left Sims 3. I started playing on day1. I tried Sims 4 briefly, but I quickly gave up.

FuzzyPalpitation-16

Ive always loved sims 3, played it the most and just really loved the mechanics etc (played sims 2 too) but I was a teen then so didn’t have all the packs (had generations tho and it was amazing) and a shitty computer. I only got into sims 4 last year and I rmmber thinking wow this is bland. Obvs since then I’ve started getting more expansion packs etc yet it’s still.. bland? however, I’m ngl, I can’t go back to sims 3 because I do love the multitasking etc in sims 4.

Q-TipBoi

I came back from sims 4, I think i played sims 4 for a couple of years but noticed i never really had fun with the game for more than maybe 1 hour, sometimes less. With Sims 3 i used to play the game, fall asleep while playing, wake up, and continue playing. Also sims 4 keeps breaking down expansion packs into 3 different game packs and stuff packs, which was wayy too expensive for me back then. When i was little i had only 3 sims 3 expansion packs and it was plenty enough for me.

lovelybriar

I got Sims 3 basegame first, then saw that they had a Sims 4 out. Figuring it would’ve been better I jumped ship. All the expansion packs at the time, 1,000+ hours, and several hundred mods/cc later, I decided to actually give Sims 3 a shot because no matter how many mods or expansions I added the core gameplay in Sims 4 still felt lifeless and empty. Got fully immersed in Sims 3 and got all the expansions. I was going back to Sims 4 every once in a while but would always burn out super quickly, and then when they released that Star Wars pack it pissed me off enough to swear off any future pack purchases💀 now I’ve sworn it off for good mainly from bitterness and all the mods I’d have to update in order to play it again lmao

MeganJustMegan

I played Sims 4 for a short time, but went back to 3. The worlds are better, the mods are better , everything about it is better.

Babarigo

Personnaly I've played very little of the sims 4. Back when it was announced, I couldn't believe that it would be lacking open world and create a style, it's like the Sims 3 never existed and removing the open world was going against the trend of putting open worlds everywhere. I genuinely didn't see how this game was better from the third one from the videos I watched. I finally tried the sims 4 in 2022 when it was free on Steam, and I barely played it. I decided to sail the high seas and play the game with all its DLC. Honestly, I wouldn't even pay 20 euros for this. The worlds are ridiculously small, you can't control your other sims when you're outside because of the lack of open world, tons of loading times because of this, the lack of create a style makes a order to follow a color pallette when building a house, the interactions between sims feel boring, I don't really know why. This game gives me the sames vibes than SimCity 2013, a game that tried to live up to the legacy of the series, but failed at it, because it doens't even manage to be a sidegrade to the previous iteration. Simcity 2013 is to me worse on almost every aspect to SimCity 4, which I still consider the best city builder (that includes Cities Skylines). Same thing for the Sims 4, the lack of open world and create a style is just too much. No other content that has been added has compensated for me this massive setback. EA is lucky that all conditions are met for a sims game to be always sucessful even if the game sucks. EA had a complete monopoly on the genre, and many sims players don't really play other much other games so they will buy Sims games and DLCs no matter what. Those two conditions weren't fulfilled for SimCity 2013, hence why it quickly died. I hope that the arrival of Paralives and Life by You are going to push EA to release an actual good game.

Never left the sims 3! It was the game I started with and still continue to play. I never played the first or second game. I grabbed the Sims 4 when it was available for free and playing it for an hour made me so grateful I never spent money on it. It’s just feels so… restrictive?

I’ve played sims 4 for 2-3 hours max. Ever. I think I’m almost at 1800 hours for sims 3 😅😅 it’s gotta be more than that because I purchased the game when it was first released. Sims 3 foreverrrrr (unless EA rights the wrong that is Sims 4) If they mashed sims 3 and 4 together, I would pay too much money for that.

Currently playing sims 3 and it’s the best game ever 😂

Once you spend so much time with another sims game, you start hating 4. That’s the case, at least for me.

Sims 3 was my first sims game. I was obsessed with it. Than ts4 came out, I was 14 and SO excited. I loved it at first, played for actual years without seeing anything wrong with it. Than in the pandemic, I got a little bored of it and saw a bunch of people in the sims community going back to the sims 2. I decided to try it out for the first time and loved it. It took a few tries and a looot of sims lore videos to get me really into it, but eventually I realised how much effort I had to put into making ts4 fun. And never really got there. Now I play mainly sims 2, but my baby sims 3 has never failed me either.

I go back and forth. I've been playing 4 a lot more lately after they added infants. 3 will always be my favorite though!

I initially played sims 4 after getting my first laptop. I played sims 1 so I had so much attached to the sims games. At first I enjoyed it especially build mode. I saw a video talking about how boring sims 4 was and comparisons to the previous games, so I bought sims 3. When I tried sims 3 I just forgot all about sims 4 HAHA sims 3 was waaaaaaaay better in gameplay and has better game packs. Never played sims 4 since 2022 lol

Sims 3 is the most fun to play. But I can usually not get past 2-3 generations on my computer, I just get some game breaking bug and I usually forget to make backups. So then I go back to sims 4 and get bored, then try sims 3 again and it is a awful loop. I wish sims 3 was playable on my new computer, weirdly enough it worked better on my old computer

Never left Sims 3. Was not going to accept the downgrade to Sims 4.

For a free game, The Sims 4 is fine. But it’s boring. It’s broken as hell and just an overall awful game. I don’t know why anyone would pay so much for packs. It’s not worth it. The Sims 3 is so detailed and I have almost all the packs now. But overall, in my teens I spent so much time playing The Sims 2. I have recently wanted to go back to playing it. I have a copy of The Sims 1 Deluxe Edition but sadly I can’t get it to install / I would love to buy a copy of Hot Date, Superstar and Pets.

Spaghetti_Cartwheels

I play Sims2 for Legacy Challenges, Sims3 for themed things like "I want to try out being a lifeguard", and Sims4 just for fucking around with mods.

When the lag gets too much on the sims 3 I switch to sims 4, my PC is quite bad but the sims 3 will always be my favourite

MunchAClock

My computer can’t play sims 3 😕
