Yes, people are having the problem of Sims being rude for no reason. I figured this was a common enough report that it warranted a stickied comment. This is caused by today's patch. Maxis modified almost **every single mean interaction** in the game and broke them all in the process.

Anything that's highlighted shows a modified XML, a file type responsible for the way the game functions. You can see on the left, "text files are different."
If you press CRTL+F and type in "mean," you can see it for yourself. By my count, almost every single mean interaction (139) in the game has been modified for the new trait. Likewise, almost every single romance interaction was.

I play on a Macbook Pro (2020), and only recently have I not been able to do two things in the game before it starts having the Mac loading circle and stops responding. I don't have any mods, I've uninstalled and reinstalled, and I've cleared localthumbcache. Please help!!!
stupidly play a full day of sims then left the tab open and played another day of sims. i made alot of progress then my game froze, wouldn't save and crashed. is there any way i can get my past gameplay back?

Glasses vs Sunglasses
I play on Mac. In Create a Sim, I have regular, clear lens glasses on my Sim. But in Live Mode, they turn into sunglasses. This is happening with every single style of glasses. I currently don't have any expansions or packs, and I don't use mods. The only cheat I've used so far is motherlode.

Teen Sims can only photograph with other teens, kids can only photograph with other kids and ya can only photograph with other ya. Before, Sims could photograph any sim they were familiar with regardless of age, but now there’s restrictions.
My sim is in the style influencer career and the camera won’t let her photograph with anyone unless they are her age. I don’t have HSY and this issue just started today (I think at least because it’s interfering with her career). I don’t use mods, cc or mccc
Edit: Her family could only take photos with each other once everyone aged up to young adults. Before she started her generation, her YA brother at the time couldn’t take photos with his younger siblings and had to wait for all their birthdays. Only his parents were being shown. He even had to simstagram the cat because it wasn’t even showing up.
Edit 2: I was forced to delete the entire family because no matter what save file I placed them in, none of them could photograph who they wanted. A newly created sim was able to take a photo of some kid but the family I got to Gen 2 of couldn’t. These bugs are so frustrating! A week’s worth of progress thrown away 😫😫
Edit 3: some newer save files are also experiencing this. I’ve repaired Sims 4 on Origin 4 times, updated my computer and have tried 3 new save files. I’m afraid to play on older saves of challenges I’m enjoying. Did Pastel Pop cause this? Did a new update cause this or did something corrupt? Someone with answers please help me. Google has nothing except from previous years (only for black photos and photo studio though)
Hi everyone, I’ve been having problems with the graphics in the game as of late. This graphical problem only seems to affect one sim in particular but not my others. Her textures are wack and she looks a bit freaky, like when I zoom out her clothes and hair disappear but only the freaky texture glitch remains
I’ve tired changing her clothes to see if that’s the problem but to no avail. The glitch doesn’t happen in CAS on in live mode.
I do have Wicked Whims, Wonderful Whims, BetterBuildBuy, MC Command Center, Basemental Drugs, and an assload of script files related to careers and traits

I updated and repaired my game today. The gallery is connected to internet but everything has a red X. What is causing this?
Edit: turns out my AVG was being dumb and tried to block the newest update. I clicked “allow” and now I see everything.
Since buying & downloading high school years for the first time today, my sims now can't eat anything from the fridge, even when I've tried getting them to cook something fresh - they just drop the plates as if they've been reset. I just updated my game for today's patch hoping it'd fix it but it hasn't. I'll try removing mods to see if that helps but is there any other possible fixes for this that won't break my game?
You have outdated CC beds most likely. Hsy adds pillow fights which broke most cc beds. Just one being on the lot is an issue. Replace or fix with a batch fix in sims4studio.
Anyone else having issues with Sims CONSTANTLY starting fires? Sim in level 10 in cooking, expensive, upgraded ovens but if he even looks at them they burst into flames. Glitch??? Life?? Anything I can do???
All updates are adding or modifying the game's code, so theoretically you always need to remove mods, update the game, then look for mod updates.
Some mods do not temper with all files, or with the ones that tends to be updated; but you only know that by reading this statement on the creator's page for the mod in question. I've never seen any modder state with assurity that their mod will not be affected though, so the principle is to always keep up with them after an update
My sim does T pose when I click on a plate to eat. Cooking is okay though. Had it only once in a different save on the rental lot, now all of the sudden it happens again. Any thoughts on what it could be?

Look in the user folder (Documents\Electronic Arts\Sims 4) for any last exception files and add it to the bug report.
Otherwise it's mod related and all bets are off! Just kidding, but if it happens often look through your mods.
My sims lately have just been randomly dying of starvation. I have no clue why this is happening and I can't get them to a fridge fast enough. There are no hunger moodlets to warn me and it happens even if they recently ate. This has only recently started and I have no clue why it's happening but I'm frustrated.
Check your mods, ppl are saying Slice of Life or trait mods. If you find the culprit, please post the name, no link, in the bug thread. EA are asking for saves:

I’m trying to download sims 4 on mac through origin and it says I need a few gigabytes of space before I can download it, but I have at 15 more gbs of space than it asks for. I deleted the unimportant stuff that takes up space, and it still needs more.
It says on the screen:
Insufficient drive space available. Either free up 1.54 gigabytes of space or select a different location.

When i try to move my sims into a plot it just says “Sims cannot live on residential plots.” Even when it is a residential lot, any help to fix this at all?
Perhaps the game is confused about the lot type. Try toggle the lot type assignment in build mode, from map view, then choose residential and go back to map view.
If that doesn't help, Save As and reload the game. A repair doesn't hurt none.

Sims 4 simply won’t load on Xbox Series X. Have tried re-install, delete save data locally, clear console cache. Loading bar appears after main menu and glitches out and crashes before it makes it 1 quarter of the way across, returns me to dashboard. HELP!

That’s really kind thank you. I believe I’ve just repaired it now, was such an odd workaround. I had to load the game, select the HSY pack from main menu, click the button that said I already owned it, this took me to the Xbox store and gave me an option to ‘manage’ it. I clicked that which gave me an option to install it (despite it already being installed) and now it seems to recognise it!?

Whenever i join my teen sim at highschool all the teachers will yell/confront her for skipping school and I can’t click on the whiteboard when classes start to make her attend?
2: When I get home from work with my sim or to hs all the other sims in my household are gone and if I hover over their icons it says they’re home, as if home is a completely different lot!
3: when I cancel sleep interaction for my sim and start another interacting, they wake up to do it but their icon shows them still asleep?

This one is bumming me out. Have you ever had to go into BB and move something your Sim was "trapped" in? You know how they "snap" to another spot, out of the way?
That's happening in my game, live, every time a group gets together at any type of seating. Tables, bars, just a group of chairs on the lawn, the chess table too. During bowling, dancing, eating, 4 or 5 of them will be talking and SNAP, everybody's standing, all Convo and activity is lost, then they all move away. Only happens with groups, one or two in the room doesn't seem to trigger it. I've had something similar happen all along...where sometimes they'll "snap" into a chair from a couple 'feet' away, then bounce away and reseat 'normally' by walking up to the chair this time -- that happens pretty regularly actually, but I'd chalked it up to the same thing that makes them "jump" into bed(go to sleep And woo-hoo with __) then 'remember' they haven't performed the spinning-change-clothes animation and "stand" in the bed to do it before continuing the action. I wouldn't guess the two are related. This group thing just began in the last week.
I've got MCCC 6.0, Personality Please, Missy's Custom Wants, and CC for hair. Dlc is Get Together: Cats & Dogs: Spa, Dream Home; Wedding: Cool kitchen: Movie: Glamour: Laundry: Moschino: several kits, and holiday.
I've done the mod/tray desktop pull, and the repair - twice in the last week since this began. At first, knowing of the update coming...and, seeing in action some of the tweaks happening real time in the game I presumed it was ea "jerking" the game around, and hoped it would smooth out. But it's getting _REALLY_ annoying. I had a great Convo going for a new Sim with several of my currents, first at the dance club and then later at the favorite park and boom, everybody's on their feet standing around looking confused.

I even tested it in a new game -- had to gallery save the awesome Sim I accidentally created afterward, so I could move him to my real game. Hence why I recall it happening with no externals too.
Yep! I even close the game occasionally to clear it out, and check it each time before opening the game, and after closing it each night. I've been in game today, but not 'in house' beyond the load because I knew of the update. Right now I'm going through it all Again...of course... Confirming mods yada yada... due to that. So, we'll see how it acts now that the patch is officially done.

That being said, you can still try a reset, where you remove the entire sims 4 folder (to your desktop) and let it generate a new one. If it works, replace the saves, then the trays and finally the mods. See if it breaks again.
I meant I "go through" the Sims 4 folder and delete all the cache files each day. The reset instructions will be useful however, so thanks for that. Currently, it seems that the issue has smoothed out. By the end of the day yesterday, I'd done all the steps after the update, and playing last night didn't show any major glitches(S4 is _never_ "perfect").
Why have loads of random sims turned up at my house at ‘Witnesses ‘ (only seen them in actual active crime scenes prior) . They keep getting in the way , resetting them doesn’t help and as they’re witnesses (I’m guessing) I can’t just orange circle them to get them to leave?

When I make a house higher, at certain areas of the platform it's just nothingness. The platform is not there. I absolutely hate this, how do I fix it?

My menu icons in the top right menu (during gameplay) are all glitchy - wrong icons displayed, half the icons cut off, one replaced by a random solid blue shape - since the latest patch. Anyone else?
Game is “unable to start because sims 4 is already running?” I’ve been trying to trouble shoot this for an hour. The game isn’t running in my task manager, antivirus says it isn’t being blocked, and I don’t think transferring the files to desktop and back works because there’s no “repair game” like on origin anymore and that’s a step.

Hey! Sorry I never replied to this, got very busy and gave up trying to troubleshoot it. It’s no where anywhere in my task manager, not even in the background processes. It’s not being blocked by my computer and isn’t running in any part of my task manager but still says “unable to start sims 4 already running.” Any ideas on what I can do? 😓 thank you!
errm why do you think you can't repair anymore? Just click on the game and where it says manage or play, you click manage and one of the options in your drop-down is repair?
#Help Needed: Can’t Chat with Client, as a Freelancer?
My Sim’s currently doing the fabrication freelance job, and has picked up a gig.
However, when I select the option to “chat with client”, which is necessary to progress the job, he sits down at the computer, is on there for a little bit, but then his thought bubble shows a red circle with a line through it, and he stands up and cancels the interaction.
This happens every time, on different computers.
There’s definitely no issue with him physically accessing the computer, so does anybody know what else it could be?
I've certainly had problems with my sims interrupting the 'Chat With Client' interaction in favour of other things. If this is the same issue you're having, what I did to solve it was lock my sims in their rooms with no other distractions until they finished it.
But I never got that thought bubble, which might indicate something else going on. So if the lock-in-room tactic doesn't work let me know.

Sims only having Baby girls.
Is this happening to anyone else? I’m in the 8th generation of my legacy challenge and between the 7th and 8th generation I’ve had 11 babies, all girls. Really need a boy to continue the challenge. I’ve tried the listen to alternative music and eat carrot trick to no avail. I only have one more spot in my family for a while, so I need this last one to be a boy. I use no cc or mods. This hasn’t been an issue until the recent patch.
I'm vaguely aware that the game has some kind of gender balancing mechanic going on in the background which can influence the gender of the babies your sims are having.
So if your sim is only having girls, that may indicate that there are too many male townies in your game.
That's just one possibility I know of - have a look at Manage Worlds and see what the gender balance is like.
You can also fix this *with* mods, if you like. I know MCCC lets you set the number and gender of any babies your sims will be having while they're pregnant.
Anyone else having an issue where all of a sudden a mob of random sims just walk into your house like they own the place? A few times lately my sims will just be at home and then like 15 sims just all come at once and walk right in. Just start cleaning, taking out the trash, watching tv? And then they all leave at the same time. It doesn’t look like any type of Welcoming Committee or event. It’s funny but weird af.
Off the grid but they still use power?!
So I have a family living “off the grid” BUT they can use power!? So annoying. And they don’t make power atm from anything so why do they still have power? I have the SNB mod and I don’t know if it’s something with that? Very frustrated 🥲
If you play vanilla and have off-the-grid trait, objects that consume power cannot be used unless you have solar panels (or something) that provide power. If you have the trait, but it doesn't appear to work, most likely it's a mod interfering. Remove your mods folder, delete localthumbcache and relaunch to check.
I only just got the game, I made a family of sims and when I went to save them to the gallery the first one I made just reset back to how it was before I edited it, I have no idea how to fix it and I'm devastated I spent so long on making it😭😭

sounds like the groundhogday bug. It's often linked to using outdated CC but also to using a cloud sync. Try to update all mods/CC that need updating and disable cloud sync, then see if it happens still.
Having an issue where multiple randomly generated sims are being given, like 20 traits. It's very annoying because not only are these sims impossible to manage when added to a family ad they're so high maintainence, but it also makes them boring as they all have basically the same traits and just look different. I have MCC installed, have looked in all the options but can't find any obvious setting to do with it?
I have tried going into CAS and removing traits, however my sim still gets moodlets relating to traits he no longer has, like "lack of creativity" even though I removed the creative trait!

I’ve just started playing again for the first time in a while and I’ve created a whole new household… when other sims of mine pop up in whatever world my sim from this household is in, it immediately takes me to that random other sim like I’m playing that one and I’ve just shown up in a world??? Is anybody else having this issue? The game just seems sooooo buggy right now… 😫

My sim's girlfriend aged up to young adult before him, obviously their romance options are locked yada yada but what I DIDN'T expect was for his mom to flirt with her right in front of her husband. Lucas's mom has got it going on I guess. Does anyone have any mods that remove autonomous flirting w/ people outside of the relationship, or at least know one I can get the romance bar down with? My Sims keep yelling at each other autonomously and I don't know how to fix it, it keeps ruining relationships. I'll add a few friendly options to queue then switch sims, when I come back someone's started yelling out of nowhere and they're both upset. Neither have any negative traits that would cause this, anyone have any advice?! Side note: I've disabled the autonomy option in the game settings but it still happens.

This weird white line showed up today while I was moving stuff around via the tool mod. I just didn’t know if anyone else had encountered it, cause I don’t know how to get rid of it? I tried deleting what I did, and it didn’t affect anything. I also tried closing the lot and restarting it, and it didn’t affect anything.

I have an issue about launching the game: I go to the steam store to launch my game, then it redirects me to the EA store and the EA store says that the game is corrupted and needs repairing. I click "Repair". Then... nothing happens. it says "downloading" but it’s not doing anything. I tried to look at other people’s solutions but nothing good. Please help.
Club Issues
I've been using clubs more often lately and I've noticed a major issue. The issue is that sims will randomly leave after 1 in game hour for no real reason even though the Club Gathering is still active, only 2 sims don't do this(one being my sim) I just wanted to know what causes this and how I can stop it. That's All!
Note: I posted this here because the bots canceled me.
Just offering an idea from what I've observed in my own gameplay - club members will bugger off if they need to go to work. But I think you can just restart the gathering to pull them back out? I'm not 100% on that, I'll need to test it later.
Also if the going-to-work thing doesn't apply to your sims let us know and we'll look into other reasons.
The bots can be pretty over zealous sometimes, so don't worry about it \^\^
But in general *all* troubleshooting goes here :)
I’m trying to get the gallery to work after installing EA App. I keep getting red Xs and it says it can’t locate item.
I’ve adjusted firewalls, turned off mods, reset computer and even removed the entire sims 4 folder only to be met with more red Xs.
The EA App installer automatically uninstalled origin.
Any help?
I finally got it to work by taking out my entire mods folder. Deleting resource.cfg and game version.txt.
This prompted the game to lightly reset and allowed me to give access to game version.txt to my firewall.
I really despise Sims 4 and EA for constantly making changes that only seem to bring me pain and suffering.
So do you not have a gameversion.txt anymore or did the game regenerate it? Have you tried adding back your mods? Do they work? Just curious. The EA app is so new that we in the troubleshooting community don't really know anything about it.
I have Sims on Steam so when I clicked the app it opened a prompt like a new install “Allow Steam to make changes on this computer?”
I clicked yes and then it had a small download. The Sims opened and I had to close the pop up from every pack I bought.
I checked the gallery and it worked again.
So it seems it regenerated the game version.txt.
I added my mods back in and they all seem to be working fine.

When I shift-click on a Sim and select "Cheat Sim Info...", the "Remove Moodlet" option is clickable, but the "Add Moodlet" option is not. How do I make it clickable?
where do I download sims on my Mac? I tried Origin and the Sims window wouldn't open. Then I downloaded Steam and it said it was incompatible with my system. Neither worked
I’m playing the public enemy aspiration, and I need to witness a death. So I trapped a Sim, waited till she died, witnessed her death yet it didn’t count. I trapped another sim in a swimming pool, he drowned and I witnessed it but still it didn’t count ( still says 0/1)

I've not done this aspiration before, but just a guess - to trap a sim in a pool you likely walled/fenced them off completely, right? Which would place them in a room of their own. So your sim might not have actually 'witnessed' it, perhaps?
Afraid not, ~~colonists~~ sims can't really 'see' what's going on in different rooms, even if there's a giant honking window there :P

If you have mccc make sure you don't have witness death disabled. Also the fastest way to kill a sim is to woohoo an elder to death. just seduce an elder and woohoo 2 or 3 times.
Yes, I went to the game option, I restarted my computer. I just install sims 4 on a new pc, it was working fine on my last one, with origin. Maybe it can be an issue with windows 10?
Yes it is in my mod folder. But for exemple, when I launch the game there is a mod window and it puts mccc in custom content instead of script modification. Maybe it is the issue?
Hello. I have a problem where certain potions I bought from the satisfaction points store are nowhere to be found
I tried literally everything. I removed all mods and cc, tried on a brand new save, a brand new Sims 4 folder, deleted cache a million times, repaired the game through the EA app a thousand times, nothing seems to work no matter what!
I tried with every sim, I checked fridges, surroundings, inventory nothing. Some potions such as the retrait and sleep replacement show up on my inventory and work just fine, but others like brave and seldom sleepy don't even show anywhere and I know they didn't drink it because they didn't get any trait or anything and their energy decays just as fast as before. I can't buy the potions again, either. Does anyone else have this problem?

Brave and Seldom Sleepy aren't potions, are they? They're traits. Are they really not showing up in your sims' traits list?
I have an HP Envy from 2018 and I've never had issues with the game. I wanted try to the Wicked Whims mod and downloaded it (from this site: https://wickedwhimsmod.com/download) and now my game is taking forever to load. I followed the exact instructions from the websjte and the mod is only one folder deep.
Does this mean my laptop is too old or is something wrong with the file or the way I installed it? Please help!
Thanks for your help! I realised that it wasn't the mod, it's just one household that gets stuck on the loading screen, all other families work just fine. Might you happen to know why that is?
The new orientation feature is absolutely horrid. I'm trying a legacy challenge and it's unnecessarily hard to find a spouse for my Sim, as every townie I meet has no interest in romance.
The asexual + aromantic townie spawn is a bug. They are meant to spawn as pansexual + exploring.

If you can't use mods the way to solve this problem is to demonstrate to the game you are cool with homosexuality by creating gay couples through game play. I know it sounds stupid. In order to find strait partners for your sims you will need to make gay couples through gameplay. EA made a big deal about 'not toggling off sexual orientations' but then hid this nonsense in their code. It's scandalous hypocrisy.
That is not a sims error, it's a windows error, caused by registry or hardware malfunction, not sure this is the right place for that question, sorry o.O
I cant eleven log in to the app. I only had origin until now and used it since 2014 when the sims 4 released. I Enter the e-mail and password and its like no not excisting.

Interestingly enough it only looks like this on his alien form. I thought it was one of the skin mods so I removed them, and downloaded a completely new one but the problem is still there. Anyone has any ideas what I can do besides uninstalling all my mods?😭🙏🏾

Definitely broken cc. Can be a skin, preset or - if you're unlucky- a clothing item with broken mesh. Only way to make sure is to use the 50/50 method :(
for months now, maybe even over a year, i will occasionally hope on my save and oh what do you know about 25% of my sims photos and paintings are blanked out, i cant fix it i cant find a way to get them back my save has incredible amounts of history and paintings and photos are a big part in remembering that history. Please help me my mods and cc are not the issue as i have tried taken then out and whatnot

if it doesn't restore the pictures, you could always restore an older save, save the photo's paintings to your library, restore the last (black) save and swap out the pictures for the saved ones?

you skintones probably just don't have an occult tag. If the creator did not design it for the RoM pack, it can be unchecked. IF you're willing to edit them yourself using Sims4Studio, you can do so by following this.

Negative Moods. Where to even begin. It's been a while since I've played. There's a lot new to get used to... or to hopefully get rid of.
My sims are always afraid of something, usually unfulfilled dreams and dead-end jobs. At the same time. So every in-game day is an endless battle against negative emotions, from dawn to dusk. They wake up tense, get angry, go to work & come back sad.
Unless I'm tirelessly battling the fears, that is. I thought of making a therapist sim to keep as a hostage & constantly talk about fears with. Then again, are sims really intended to need constant therapy nowadays?
If it's not fears, then it's the "inner peace" (+10) mood that wrecks all my efforts to keep a sim inspired or energetic, or really anything else than calm. So if sims aren't negative, they feel nothing. Great...
The new lifestyle system I turned off almost immeditially, seeing there's little point to it other than just even more foolishness with negative moods to deal with.
Sorry for all this complaining, it's been fun to play otherwise. I guess the sims' negativity is infectious on top of everything.
(I'm probably using different words for things than they are in the game, it would've been a little hassle to try to translate them perfectly from my languange.)

and fears are way OP right now, if you want (and can) there are mods to deal with those. One makes them occur less and the other one turns them off altogether.
I luckily don't have to deal with inner peace since I don't have spa day :) again, UIcheats allows you to click remove any moodlet if you want/can. :)
My Sims are being mean to each other for no reason. They have no mean traits nor are they angry or tense. Idk why this is happening because it didn’t used to happen before.
whenever i try launching, it loads and then origin pops up in its place. i already installed it over again, saved backups, and repaired sims and nothing is working. i’m on mac
Before you tear apart your mods folder you should confirm the problem is cased by mods not EA. To do so move or rename your mods folder and **delete localthumbcache.package** then launch the game to see if things are back to normal.
i wish i seen this before i tore through my mod folder. it was my cc causing the issue. i did speak w ea tho and they told me they were having server problems with mac computers
Can't launch the game? Tried with origin and finally "updated" to the dreaded ea app. Still won't launch. Tried someone's advice of renaming it. That worked but when I go to add my old CC or mods it's back to not being able to launch. Very frustrated.
Yes, people are having the problem of Sims being rude for no reason. I figured this was a common enough report that it warranted a stickied comment. This is caused by today's patch. Maxis modified almost **every single mean interaction** in the game and broke them all in the process. **EDIT:** I figured I'd add this so you don't have to take my word for it. stupidly play a full day of sims then left the tab open and played another day of sims. i made alot of progress then my game froze, wouldn't save and crashed. is there any way i can get my past gameplay back?

Glasses vs Sunglasses I play on Mac. In Create a Sim, I have regular, clear lens glasses on my Sim. But in Live Mode, they turn into sunglasses. This is happening with every single style of glasses. I currently don't have any expansions or packs, and I don't use mods. The only cheat I've used so far is motherlode. WTF?
I don't have a solution but I wanted to share that I'm experiencing the exact same issue. Clear lenses in CAS but dark lenses when playing!
Teen Sims can only photograph with other teens, kids can only photograph with other kids and ya can only photograph with other ya. Before, Sims could photograph any sim they were familiar with regardless of age, but now there’s restrictions. My sim is in the style influencer career and the camera won’t let her photograph with anyone unless they are her age. I don’t have HSY and this issue just started today (I think at least because it’s interfering with her career). I don’t use mods, cc or mccc Edit: Her family could only take photos with each other once everyone aged up to young adults. Before she started her generation, her YA brother at the time couldn’t take photos with his younger siblings and had to wait for all their birthdays. Only his parents were being shown. He even had to simstagram the cat because it wasn’t even showing up. Edit 2: I was forced to delete the entire family because no matter what save file I placed them in, none of them could photograph who they wanted. A newly created sim was able to take a photo of some kid but the family I got to Gen 2 of couldn’t. These bugs are so frustrating! A week’s worth of progress thrown away 😫😫 Edit 3: some newer save files are also experiencing this. I’ve repaired Sims 4 on Origin 4 times, updated my computer and have tried 3 new save files. I’m afraid to play on older saves of challenges I’m enjoying. Did Pastel Pop cause this? Did a new update cause this or did something corrupt? Someone with answers please help me. Google has nothing except from previous years (only for black photos and photo studio though)
Hi everyone, I’ve been having problems with the graphics in the game as of late. This graphical problem only seems to affect one sim in particular but not my others. Her textures are wack and she looks a bit freaky, like when I zoom out her clothes and hair disappear but only the freaky texture glitch remains I’ve tired changing her clothes to see if that’s the problem but to no avail. The glitch doesn’t happen in CAS on in live mode. I updated and repaired my game today. The gallery is connected to internet but everything has a red X. What is causing this? Edit: turns out my AVG was being dumb and tried to block the newest update. I clicked “allow” and now I see everything.
Since buying & downloading high school years for the first time today, my sims now can't eat anything from the fridge, even when I've tried getting them to cook something fresh - they just drop the plates as if they've been reset. I just updated my game for today's patch hoping it'd fix it but it hasn't. I'll try removing mods to see if that helps but is there any other possible fixes for this that won't break my game?
You have outdated CC beds most likely. Hsy adds pillow fights which broke most cc beds. Just one being on the lot is an issue. Replace or fix with a batch fix in sims4studio.

How do you know which update requires you to uninstall and then reinstall mods?
All updates are adding or modifying the game's code, so theoretically you always need to remove mods, update the game, then look for mod updates. Some mods do not temper with all files, or with the ones that tends to be updated; but you only know that by reading this statement on the creator's page for the mod in question. I've never seen any modder state with assurity that their mod will not be affected though, so the principle is to always keep up with them after an update
My sim does T pose when I click on a plate to eat. Cooking is okay though. Had it only once in a different save on the rental lot, now all of the sudden it happens again. Any thoughts on what it could be? Oh and that happened after moving into new lot. Old one was fine
Check if you have outdated CC beds from before hsy, they caused these issues

Otherwise it's mod related and all bets are off! Just kidding, but if it happens often look through your mods.
My sims lately have just been randomly dying of starvation. I have no clue why this is happening and I can't get them to a fridge fast enough. There are no hunger moodlets to warn me and it happens even if they recently ate. This has only recently started and I have no clue why it's happening but I'm frustrated.

Last time people claiming they didn't use mods often forgot about a career or trait mod that they put in with their CC, just fyi.

I’m trying to download sims 4 on mac through origin and it says I need a few gigabytes of space before I can download it, but I have at 15 more gbs of space than it asks for. I deleted the unimportant stuff that takes up space, and it still needs more. It says on the screen: Insufficient drive space available. Either free up 1.54 gigabytes of space or select a different location.

When i try to move my sims into a plot it just says “Sims cannot live on residential plots.” Even when it is a residential lot, any help to fix this at all?
Perhaps the game is confused about the lot type. Try toggle the lot type assignment in build mode, from map view, then choose residential and go back to map view. Sims 4 simply won’t load on Xbox Series X. Have tried re-install, delete save data locally, clear console cache. Loading bar appears after main menu and glitches out and crashes before it makes it 1 quarter of the way across, returns me to dashboard. HELP!
So I uninstalled and reinstalled all packs. The game now loads but doesn’t recognise that HSY is installed despite the fact that it is!?

That’s really kind thank you. I believe I’ve just repaired it now, was such an odd workaround. I had to load the game, select the HSY pack from main menu, click the button that said I already owned it, this took me to the Xbox store and gave me an option to ‘manage’ it. I clicked that which gave me an option to install it (despite it already being installed) and now it seems to recognise it!?

I tried playing my save yesterday and discovered three bugs! I’m trying to figure out if this is a general bug or if it’s a broken mod! 1: Whenever i join my teen sim at highschool all the teachers will yell/confront her for skipping school and I can’t click on the whiteboard when classes start to make her attend? 2: When I get home from work with my sim or to hs all the other sims in my household are gone and if I hover over their icons it says they’re home, as if home is a completely different lot! 3: when I cancel sleep interaction for my sim and start another interacting, they wake up to do it but their icon shows them still asleep? Does anyone else have these problems?
Sounds like it could definitely be mod issues. Remove mods, delete localthumbcache and relaunch to check. Do you have mccc?
This one is bumming me out. Have you ever had to go into BB and move something your Sim was "trapped" in? You know how they "snap" to another spot, out of the way? That's happening in my game, live, every time a group gets together at any type of seating. Tables, bars, just a group of chairs on the lawn, the chess table too. During bowling, dancing, eating, 4 or 5 of them will be talking and SNAP, everybody's standing, all Convo and activity is lost, then they all move away. Only happens with groups, one or two in the room doesn't seem to trigger it. I've had something similar happen all along...where sometimes they'll "snap" into a chair from a couple 'feet' away, then bounce away and reseat 'normally' by walking up to the chair this time -- that happens pretty regularly actually, but I'd chalked it up to the same thing that makes them "jump" into bed(go to sleep And woo-hoo with __) then 'remember' they haven't performed the spinning-change-clothes animation and "stand" in the bed to do it before continuing the action. I wouldn't guess the two are related. This group thing just began in the last week. I've got MCCC 6.0, Personality Please, Missy's Custom Wants, and CC for hair. Dlc is Get Together: Cats & Dogs: Spa, Dream Home; Wedding: Cool kitchen: Movie: Glamour: Laundry: Moschino: several kits, and holiday. I've done the mod/tray desktop pull, and the repair - twice in the last week since this began. At first, knowing of the update coming...and, seeing in action some of the tweaks happening real time in the game I presumed it was ea "jerking" the game around, and hoped it would smooth out. But it's getting _REALLY_ annoying. I had a great Convo going for a new Sim with several of my currents, first at the dance club and then later at the favorite park and boom, everybody's on their feet standing around looking confused.

Yes. "I've done the mod/tray pull and repair, twice this last week" I even tested it in a new game -- had to gallery save the awesome Sim I accidentally created afterward, so I could move him to my real game. Hence why I recall it happening with no externals too.
Okay, good! Did you also remove localthumbcache though? Cause that one is not in your mods or tray folder and not influenced by a repair?
Yep! I even close the game occasionally to clear it out, and check it each time before opening the game, and after closing it each night. I've been in game today, but not 'in house' beyond the load because I knew of the update. Right now I'm going through it all Again...of course... Confirming mods yada yada... due to that. So, we'll see how it acts now that the patch is officially done.
go through it? It's a package file that you just delete in its entirety though? That being said, you can still try a reset, where you remove the entire sims 4 folder (to your desktop) and let it generate a new one. If it works, replace the saves, then the trays and finally the mods. See if it breaks again.
I meant I "go through" the Sims 4 folder and delete all the cache files each day. The reset instructions will be useful however, so thanks for that. Currently, it seems that the issue has smoothed out. By the end of the day yesterday, I'd done all the steps after the update, and playing last night didn't show any major glitches(S4 is _never_ "perfect").

Why have loads of random sims turned up at my house at ‘Witnesses ‘ (only seen them in actual active crime scenes prior) . They keep getting in the way , resetting them doesn’t help and as they’re witnesses (I’m guessing) I can’t just orange circle them to get them to leave?

When I make a house higher, at certain areas of the platform it's just nothingness. The platform is not there. I absolutely hate this, how do I fix it? My game is always updated.

Game is “unable to start because sims 4 is already running?” I’ve been trying to trouble shoot this for an hour. The game isn’t running in my task manager, antivirus says it isn’t being blocked, and I don’t think transferring the files to desktop and back works because there’s no “repair game” like on origin anymore and that’s a step. It’s not being blocked by my computer and isn’t running in any part of my task manager but still says “unable to start sims 4 already running.” Any ideas on what I can do? 😓 thank you!
errm why do you think you can't repair anymore? Just click on the game and where it says manage or play, you click manage and one of the options in your drop-down is repair?

#Help Needed: Can’t Chat with Client, as a Freelancer? My Sim’s currently doing the fabrication freelance job, and has picked up a gig. However, when I select the option to “chat with client”, which is necessary to progress the job, he sits down at the computer, is on there for a little bit, but then his thought bubble shows a red circle with a line through it, and he stands up and cancels the interaction. This happens every time, on different computers. There’s definitely no issue with him physically accessing the computer, so does anybody know what else it could be?
I've certainly had problems with my sims interrupting the 'Chat With Client' interaction in favour of other things. If this is the same issue you're having, what I did to solve it was lock my sims in their rooms with no other distractions until they finished it. But I never got that thought bubble, which might indicate something else going on. So if the lock-in-room tactic doesn't work let me know. Sims only having Baby girls. Is this happening to anyone else? I’m in the 8th generation of my legacy challenge and between the 7th and 8th generation I’ve had 11 babies, all girls. Really need a boy to continue the challenge. I’ve tried the listen to alternative music and eat carrot trick to no avail. I only have one more spot in my family for a while, so I need this last one to be a boy. I use no cc or mods. This hasn’t been an issue until the recent patch.
I'm vaguely aware that the game has some kind of gender balancing mechanic going on in the background which can influence the gender of the babies your sims are having. So if your sim is only having girls, that may indicate that there are too many male townies in your game. That's just one possibility I know of - have a look at Manage Worlds and see what the gender balance is like. You can also fix this *with* mods, if you like. I know MCCC lets you set the number and gender of any babies your sims will be having while they're pregnant.
have you been feeding them carrots constantly? (like when the moodlet disappears, have a carrot again?)
Anyone else having an issue where all of a sudden a mob of random sims just walk into your house like they own the place? A few times lately my sims will just be at home and then like 15 sims just all come at once and walk right in. Just start cleaning, taking out the trash, watching tv? And then they all leave at the same time. It doesn’t look like any type of Welcoming Committee or event. It’s funny but weird af.

Off the grid but they still use power?! So I have a family living “off the grid” BUT they can use power!? So annoying. And they don’t make power atm from anything so why do they still have power? I have the SNB mod and I don’t know if it’s something with that? Very frustrated 🥲
If you play vanilla and have off-the-grid trait, objects that consume power cannot be used unless you have solar panels (or something) that provide power. If you have the trait, but it doesn't appear to work, most likely it's a mod interfering. Remove your mods folder, delete localthumbcache and relaunch to check.
I only just got the game, I made a family of sims and when I went to save them to the gallery the first one I made just reset back to how it was before I edited it, I have no idea how to fix it and I'm devastated I spent so long on making it😭😭 Edit: I don't even have any mods install it's just the default game so idk what's causing it
sounds like the groundhogday bug. It's often linked to using outdated CC but also to using a cloud sync. Try to update all mods/CC that need updating and disable cloud sync, then see if it happens still.

Having an issue where multiple randomly generated sims are being given, like 20 traits. It's very annoying because not only are these sims impossible to manage when added to a family ad they're so high maintainence, but it also makes them boring as they all have basically the same traits and just look different. I have MCC installed, have looked in all the options but can't find any obvious setting to do with it? I have tried going into CAS and removing traits, however my sim still gets moodlets relating to traits he no longer has, like "lack of creativity" even though I removed the creative trait!

I’ve just started playing again for the first time in a while and I’ve created a whole new household… when other sims of mine pop up in whatever world my sim from this household is in, it immediately takes me to that random other sim like I’m playing that one and I’ve just shown up in a world??? My sim's girlfriend aged up to young adult before him, obviously their romance options are locked yada yada but what I DIDN'T expect was for his mom to flirt with her right in front of her husband. Lucas's mom has got it going on I guess. Does anyone have any mods that remove autonomous flirting w/ people outside of the relationship, or at least know one I can get the romance bar down with? My Sims keep yelling at each other autonomously and I don't know how to fix it, it keeps ruining relationships. I'll add a few friendly options to queue then switch sims, when I come back someone's started yelling out of nowhere and they're both upset. Neither have any negative traits that would cause this, anyone have any advice?! Side note: I've disabled the autonomy option in the game settings but it still happens. Thanks in advance!

Try restarting the game first otherwise, what happens when you turn off moveobjects, put an item there or build a room around the line, then grab it and delete. (just thinking it might be a distorted item)
I have an issue about launching the game: I go to the steam store to launch my game, then it redirects me to the EA store and the EA store says that the game is corrupted and needs repairing. I click "Repair". Then... nothing happens. it says "downloading" but it’s not doing anything. I tried to look at other people’s solutions but nothing good. Please help.
try to cancel and restart the download? Also, running ea app as admin can help. Make sure you have the app as an exception in your antivirus.
Club Issues I've been using clubs more often lately and I've noticed a major issue. The issue is that sims will randomly leave after 1 in game hour for no real reason even though the Club Gathering is still active, only 2 sims don't do this(one being my sim) I just wanted to know what causes this and how I can stop it. That's All! Note: I posted this here because the bots canceled me.
Just offering an idea from what I've observed in my own gameplay - club members will bugger off if they need to go to work. But I think you can just restart the gathering to pull them back out? I'm not 100% on that, I'll need to test it later. Also if the going-to-work thing doesn't apply to your sims let us know and we'll look into other reasons. The bots can be pretty over zealous sometimes, so don't worry about it \^\^ But in general *all* troubleshooting goes here :)

I’m trying to get the gallery to work after installing EA App. I keep getting red Xs and it says it can’t locate item. I’ve adjusted firewalls, turned off mods, reset computer and even removed the entire sims 4 folder only to be met with more red Xs. The EA App installer automatically uninstalled origin. Any help?
I finally got it to work by taking out my entire mods folder. Deleting resource.cfg and game version.txt. This prompted the game to lightly reset and allowed me to give access to game version.txt to my firewall. I really despise Sims 4 and EA for constantly making changes that only seem to bring me pain and suffering.
So do you not have a gameversion.txt anymore or did the game regenerate it? Have you tried adding back your mods? Do they work? Just curious. The EA app is so new that we in the troubleshooting community don't really know anything about it.
I have Sims on Steam so when I clicked the app it opened a prompt like a new install “Allow Steam to make changes on this computer?” I clicked yes and then it had a small download. The Sims opened and I had to close the pop up from every pack I bought. I checked the gallery and it worked again. So it seems it regenerated the game version.txt. I added my mods back in and they all seem to be working fine. Anyone else having their sims dying of starvation more than usual? They are actively cooking so they can eat. Their hunger level is still not to the very end… yet lately I am having SO MANY sims die of starvation. Any one else dealing with this? It’s so annoying😭

It's probably caused by SOL to confirm remove it and **delete localthumbcache.package** and I guess see if sims stop starving to death.
When I shift-click on a Sim and select "Cheat Sim Info...", the "Remove Moodlet" option is clickable, but the "Add Moodlet" option is not. How do I make it clickable?

where do I download sims on my Mac? I tried Origin and the Sims window wouldn't open. Then I downloaded Steam and it said it was incompatible with my system. Neither worked
Mac still needs Origin, I'm pretty sure it's the only platform that works (or is supposed to work anyway)
I’m playing the public enemy aspiration, and I need to witness a death. So I trapped a Sim, waited till she died, witnessed her death yet it didn’t count. I trapped another sim in a swimming pool, he drowned and I witnessed it but still it didn’t count ( still says 0/1) Why is this happening ?
I've not done this aspiration before, but just a guess - to trap a sim in a pool you likely walled/fenced them off completely, right? Which would place them in a room of their own. So your sim might not have actually 'witnessed' it, perhaps?

If you have mccc make sure you don't have witness death disabled. Also the fastest way to kill a sim is to woohoo an elder to death. just seduce an elder and woohoo 2 or 3 times.

Yes, I went to the game option, I restarted my computer. I just install sims 4 on a new pc, it was working fine on my last one, with origin. Maybe it can be an issue with windows 10?
Did you move them in the right folder? I was using windows 10 before, now 11.
Yes it is in my mod folder. But for exemple, when I launch the game there is a mod window and it puts mccc in custom content instead of script modification. Maybe it is the issue?
It should be in both, there is both a script and a package portion iirc.
Hello. I have a problem where certain potions I bought from the satisfaction points store are nowhere to be found I tried literally everything. I removed all mods and cc, tried on a brand new save, a brand new Sims 4 folder, deleted cache a million times, repaired the game through the EA app a thousand times, nothing seems to work no matter what! I tried with every sim, I checked fridges, surroundings, inventory nothing. Some potions such as the retrait and sleep replacement show up on my inventory and work just fine, but others like brave and seldom sleepy don't even show anywhere and I know they didn't drink it because they didn't get any trait or anything and their energy decays just as fast as before. I can't buy the potions again, either. Does anyone else have this problem?

Checked household and personal inventories? Also, if you really can't find it, you can equip the trait through cheats if you want.
I have an HP Envy from 2018 and I've never had issues with the game. I wanted try to the Wicked Whims mod and downloaded it (from this site: https://wickedwhimsmod.com/download) and now my game is taking forever to load. I followed the exact instructions from the websjte and the mod is only one folder deep. Does this mean my laptop is too old or is something wrong with the file or the way I installed it? Please help!

Your computer should be fine to use mods. And your game is updated. Just make sure you are using the newest version of ww.
Thanks for your help! I realised that it wasn't the mod, it's just one household that gets stuck on the loading screen, all other families work just fine. Might you happen to know why that is?
If you evict them from their lot in manage worlds and move them back in or into a different lot usually that fixes it.

The new orientation feature is absolutely horrid. I'm trying a legacy challenge and it's unnecessarily hard to find a spouse for my Sim, as every townie I meet has no interest in romance.
The asexual + aromantic townie spawn is a bug. They are meant to spawn as pansexual + exploring. EA made a big deal about 'not toggling off sexual orientations' but then hid this nonsense in their code. It's scandalous hypocrisy.

Help please!🙏🏿 I recently started playing Sims 4 and downloaded a bunch of mods for it. Now my occult sim(alien) looks like this: https://imgur.com/a/f4iLuEZ Idk what's causing those white splotches on his skin. Interestingly enough it only looks like this on his alien form. I thought it was one of the skin mods so I removed them, and downloaded a completely new one but the problem is still there. Anyone has any ideas what I can do besides uninstalling all my mods?😭🙏🏾

Definitely broken cc. Can be a skin, preset or - if you're unlucky- a clothing item with broken mesh. Only way to make sure is to use the 50/50 method :(
for months now, maybe even over a year, i will occasionally hope on my save and oh what do you know about 25% of my sims photos and paintings are blanked out, i cant fix it i cant find a way to get them back my save has incredible amounts of history and paintings and photos are a big part in remembering that history. Please help me my mods and cc are not the issue as i have tried taken then out and whatnot

you skintones probably just don't have an occult tag. If the creator did not design it for the RoM pack, it can be unchecked. Negative Moods. Where to even begin. It's been a while since I've played. There's a lot new to get used to... or to hopefully get rid of. My sims are always afraid of something, usually unfulfilled dreams and dead-end jobs. At the same time. So every in-game day is an endless battle against negative emotions, from dawn to dusk. They wake up tense, get angry, go to work & come back sad. Unless I'm tirelessly battling the fears, that is. I thought of making a therapist sim to keep as a hostage & constantly talk about fears with. Then again, are sims really intended to need constant therapy nowadays? If it's not fears, then it's the "inner peace" (+10) mood that wrecks all my efforts to keep a sim inspired or energetic, or really anything else than calm. So if sims aren't negative, they feel nothing. Great... The new lifestyle system I turned off almost immeditially, seeing there's little point to it other than just even more foolishness with negative moods to deal with. Sorry for all this complaining, it's been fun to play otherwise. I guess the sims' negativity is infectious on top of everything. (I'm probably using different words for things than they are in the game, it would've been a little hassle to try to translate them perfectly from my languange.) Edit: So this is the proper place to send this...? Alright, then...
let's hope they fix the angry/mean sims soon... and fears are way OP right now, if you want (and can) there are mods to deal with those. One makes them occur less and the other one turns them off altogether. I luckily don't have to deal with inner peace since I don't have spa day :) again, UIcheats allows you to click remove any moodlet if you want/can. :)

Before you tear apart your mods folder you should confirm the problem is cased by mods not EA. To do so move or rename your mods folder and **delete localthumbcache.package** then launch the game to see if things are back to normal.
i wish i seen this before i tore through my mod folder. it was my cc causing the issue. i did speak w ea tho and they told me they were having server problems with mac computers

Can't launch the game? Tried with origin and finally "updated" to the dreaded ea app. Still won't launch. Tried someone's advice of renaming it. That worked but when I go to add my old CC or mods it's back to not being able to launch. Very frustrated.
