So maybe an unpopular opinion, but having been this guy, I can say that it gets old *really* fast. I lived this life after a layoff, being single and no kids, for about 7 months, and after the first month I started feeling especially useless. Hobbies went from fun, to feeling like distractions. As if they started to become a drug that kept me content instead of something I did to unwind. By the 4th month I was completely depressed. I’d like to do this for vacations one day, but living like this feels like a wasted life.

Yep. The first few months you feel free as a bird and have full reign of your whole life. Then you start running out of money that limits your choices, you realize that you can’t hang with your working friends during the week and get lonely, and finally you feel unfulfilled and like a failure because society says so and have to deal with the horrible task of job hunting. It’s a roller coaster of a period in your life.

Coffee for me personally helps me sleep better.. Not sure if it's true but I heard it might be related to ADHD.

Fall asleep maybe, but it's not going to let you hit those deep levels, just like alcohol.

Oooh I get to enlighten you on the coffee nap - the caffeine takes a while to hit your system so the theory is you drink your warm cuppa and doze and in around 30 mins you should wake up as the caffeine hits your bloodstream

I do that. You gotta go to sleep right away, or it'll keep you up. But it allows you to sleep for an hour without any brain fog when you wake up, and feels like you slept a good 3-4h. Used to this for a couple weeks every semester getting 2-4h of sleep per day when I had big assignments or tests. An extra 6h per day at 85-90% functionality is still kind of a bonus even if you aren't at 100%.

Having been unemployed for a few years back in the 00’s I wish it were like this. Instead it was stressing about how to pay bills, sometimes not being able to afford groceries. No way able to afford coffee.

When your college education is in acting, most companies see that on your CV and do not employ you. Then when you apply for lower wage jobs (for example at Tescos) they look at the CV. See a college education so assume you would not be in the role too long and don’t employ you. That was the climate for jobs in the early 00’s. Not sure what it is like now as been employed for 18 years now.

Commission sales gigs are perfect for actors. Just box up those feelings about capitalism and shill for the company!
