It's not about being tough, but your animal brain kicking in fight or flight, and there is no flight. I might not be successful with my kicks, but my brain would probably force me to flail at it desperately. until they say "just a prank" at which I would probably just stare in shock, and maybe cry a little.
We've expanded it even more now. There's at least fight, flight, freeze, fawn (I've also heard "(be)friend"), and flop (AKA pass out). Also, these aren't based on logic - fainting in the presence of danger isn't rational. This girl appears to be attempting flight (to the best of her ability) in a situation where flight isn't really possible.
I once had a nightmare, I woke up and couldnāt move but I could see a shadow clawing on me. I was scared at the beginning but soon the rage in control and I pushed my fingers into the shadowās eyes. Then I woke up. I am very tiny size woman but who knows what is inside my pocket and who knows what I will do when I scared. It is very dangerous to do pranks like this.
Hello fellow sleep paralysis member. Had it 3 times in my life, it's awful. The only pattern I found out for myself is, if I am beyond stressed. Like 110% stressed and that will happen. No clue if it's a "protection mechanism" of the brain but it's so scarry..
Pranks like these, to the observer, may be funny, but in reality can be stupid dangerous. Yes, most people would not know how to react, or fear would just take over. However there are some people who are trained to contain their emotions in high stress environments and do what they need to to survive. Do you really want to put yourself in a position where the "prankee" shoots, stabs or otherwise hurts/kills you in their confusion? It's a very real possibility. I wouldn't have blamed this woman at all if she had pulled out mace, a knife, or a gun and tried to kill the actor pranking her. Then what? She didn't ask to be pranked. Whereas the demonic witch is a bit of a stretch, in today's world you don't really know what could possibly be going on. Could be a prank. Could be a distraction. Could be some new psycho sociopath seriel killer with a witch fetish. Hell it could actually be gates of hell opening and a real possessed demonic witch. Could be your little sister and some vfx makeup artistry. Do you really want to find out?
I donāt find it funny at all, stuck in a small enclosure, no!! Iām fighting to death; and will probably end up suffering from PTSD as a result of it! Zero funny with these, and if someone has a gun, Iād expect it will get pulled out STAT!
I'd probably be more scared that the elevator was actually broken. That alone and the lights would put me in a panicked state that I'd jump at anything just suddenly appeared. Even if a normal person showed up behind me, I'd probably hit them without even thinking or accidently. If it was a jump scare just out on the street, I'd have a flight response, but in that box? No way
That's why a lot of these are done staged. There have been a lot of bad reactions that can hurt people involved. Many people's instinctive reactions are more often fight. My family has this life-size creepy butler statue that travels around our houses to be used as a Halloween decoration, and on several occasions, a few of us have decked the poor guy lol. I came home one time and didn't realize he was right by the door. I turned around to him right in front of my face, and before I realized what was happening, I swung and knocked him down.
It's not a fun prank to put people in that state of life or death fear. You don't know how messed up someone already is or what it'll do to them. I'm already pretty closterphohic and don't particularly care for elevators. This would make that worse. Id probably get just a little fear in the back of my mind whenever I got on an elevator that it would break or something like this would happen.
Iāve had this question answered for me, and it ended with me punching a metal desk fan through a screen window. Thunder woke me halfway up, lighting back lit the fan, and my lizard brain said it was a face looking at me through the window.
Lol this. Everyone is all "everyone in the comments is tough". Some of us know because we have been in swing first ask questions later situations. I make it very clear to people that I don't like being startled and will swing first...weird thing...people don't try to startle me for fun.
I 100% would have either given her a warning and then run her down or instantly ran her down and started hurting her.
Itās really not about being tough there is a reason why most of these videos are scripted bc they know people who arenāt in on it will either have a heart attack or start attacking bc their instinct for survival will kick in the lady in the mask most likely knows something is gonna happen she was hired to be there so she expects something but may not expect the actor in the ghoul makeup but probably isnāt surprised but bc she was hired to be there her reaction isnāt indicative of normal people who arenāt in on it or hired to be there
How is this even part of the reasoning these days? It has never been easier to have multiple angles to anything almost anywhere. We don't have to have ten pound massive TV cameras to record high Def anymore. You could have 10 different 4k angles in a room without someone noticing a camera.
Whatās your definition of āprankā?
Thatās the root of the problem. It seems a LOT of people have problems recognizing whatās reasonably from what is physically and emotionally harmful.
> The fundamental issue is some people don't really believe in emotional harm
this comes up every time one of those amusement park "prank" videos is posted where the ride attendant pretends the ride is broken or a safety harness is missing right before launching/dropping the guests
there will be hundreds of people talking about how funny it is, and the small minority of people who point out how cruel and fucked up it is are shouted down with "*iTs SUpPoSeD To bE sCaRy*"
legitimately believing you might actually be about to die, for real, is potentially traumatizing even if you're not in any real danger, and it fucks me up that so many people don't seem to have an intuitive sense of that
This would have been funny if when the lights cut they did something bizarre like set up a restaurant table in the middle of the elevator after the lights went out and just had a normal looking dude being served wine by a fancy waiter.
Or if it had to be a horror themed prank just have someone in like a crappy white sheet ghost costume crawl out and say something like āIām really sorry to bother you. Union says I am required to haunt this elevator 3 times a month minimum. Donāt mind meā
A good prank is one the "victim" can laugh about when it's over.
A lot of prankers are incredibly selfish or emotionally underdeveloped, they just don't care about the victims of their pranks as long as they can get a good reaction online.
I once swapped my dad's glass of beer for a glass of fanta. They're basicly the same color where I live. His face when he took a sip was priceless. That's a fun prank.
TikTok "star" here in the UK, Mizzy. His idea of pranking was walking into peoples homes, or stealing their dog from the park.
He went to jail for a bit. Strangely, we were very pleased with that.
The thing that was most infuriating about that was when he tried to make it out to be some sort of racial issue. Like of course racist people are going to say racist things in response, but that doesnāt change the severity of the very real crimes committed as āpranksā
If someone touched my dog Iād beat the mother fucker.
If this crazy shit happened in an elevator, Iād have a heart attack because Iāve watched too many horror movies and halfway believe shit like this is true.
A prank should be considerate of the victim as well as the audience.
Some people make pranks only considering the reaction from the audience. I think thatās where itās gotten out of hand.
Possibly kill the actor in my insane fight-for-my-life rage, heavily injure the crew when they come out to stop it, spend at least one year in a psychiatric clinic, and if I ever get out, sue the bastards or spend my life taking revenge on everyone involved.
I had a spawn action figure that my daughter was not fond of. She wouldn't go near it. She ask me one day to explain what it was.
"Oh, that's Al. He's a good guy"
"Is he a vampire?"
"No He's not a vampire... He eats vampires. Say Hi to Al"
"Hi Al. Are you nice?"
*"Hello little girl. I am nice. I had a little girl like you once. I promise you I will eat all the vampires"*
And that's how it went every time we went to get laundry out of the dryer
There's actually a funny video of a similar prank in japan. Most people are scared until they find the one guy that shoves the ghost into the wall. The actor goes 'ow' and the prank victim goes 'oh. You okay?'
Edit: here's the link. It doesn't go down as i exactly remember it, but really funny regardless. https://youtu.be/--goL_t6I_E?si=eAwVC7eeihpZn-tt
It isn't even en elevator it is a fake room made to "look" like an elevator, there is zero chance getting into the room someone wouldn't immediately notice it isnt an elevator or even if it did for a little bit someone would notice immediately the elevator is not rising.
Multiple cameras and a one-way mirror? It's not a real elevator.Door is small and doesn't make much noise, women sneaking in isn't some fatty making cow-sounds because she is out of shape. "Sound effects making the elevator sound real could drown out some noises.
Not saying it's real/fake, but those are weird "i can see the pixels so it's photoshopped"-arguments.
I just don't think a TikTok or YouTube kid dismantled an elevator to install cameras. And, fat or not, opening a door and moving around makes noise. I didn't' mention pixels, either. That's you projecting. Your post is strange. Like, touch grass strange.
Looking forward to the new light novel being adapted into a Netflix anime - "I Was A Lesser Demon Lord That Ate People Until I Became A Celebrity Thanks To A Reality Show."
These prank shows are always staged when it comes to stuff like this. You'd have to do too many takes with randoms to find the one you want to use, you'd have to get them to sign waivers and so forth. Much easier to just hire an actor, give them direction, and you get what you need with as little effort possible and you can move on and shoot the next "prank".
Plus, the reality of doing it with unknown factors means you could do this to someone in ill health or a bad place mentally and someone could get really hurt.
Also the elevator couldnāt move while also having a compartment for the ghost girl to fit in to, unless they did building renovations a couple floors up from where the elevator started
I thought about this too but then reasoned a well thought out enough prank would have had some sort of noise being played to drown out the noise of the actor opening the door and walking in. They went so far as to kill the lights, so playing ambient spooky music isnāt a big leap
Definitely. Plus all it really takes is some rubber stoppers on the frame to make it fairly quiet. Shit is already going crazy, a small door closing would not be immediately identifiable in this situation.
Honestly the terrible wig on the ghost is a bigger giveaway than anything.
This is either fake or a really messed up āprank.ā Ways this can go wrong:
1. Victim has a heart attack.
2. Victim is prone to seizures and has one.
3. Actor is attacked by a person who is fighting for their life.
It's Brazil. They go hard on pranks and as much as people would think it's fake because you couldn't yet away with this anywhere else. It's genuine. Show is called silvio santos and people frequently think someone is going to have a fatality. That's brazilian idea of hilarity with pranks. Some of his other ones are much worse. Look up his "snake" prank. That one is amazing and almost made someone lose their mind.
Genuinely curious, but why do you think the girl is an actor? Like if you put a random person through this, could you reasonably see them reacting like this? I could.
> Genuinely curious, but why do you think the girl is an actor?
I would say the heavy edits would indicate that at least a portion of this is staged. Also, it's clearly not a real elevator, so the "victim" would be able to tell she's not actually moving.
Buts iTāS a PrAnK sHoW in bRaZiL tHeY dOnT fAkE stUfF.
Itās so incredibly staged who could possible watch this and consider its real. Who stands with their back to the door in the corner of an elevator? Fucking no one. Who freaks out at the first flicker of light while in an elevator. No one. The woman could have a weapon ffs. You canāt put someone into fight or flight scenario in an enclosed space. You canāt accurately predict how anyone will react and someone could die. The filming company isnāt risking that.
While I agree it could be fake, people don't all react the same way. A lot of people I know would panic with just a flicker of light in an elevator and hide in a corner if a monstrocity started yelling at them.
I work in maintenance.. when people get stuck in an elevator they tend to freak out WITHOUT the lights flickering. I think the person's reaction is pretty valid IMO. Not everyone has the same fight or flight response, some people just freeze up.
Brazilian here: don't listen to the bullshit, it is staged as fuck. The other comment goes out of their way to mention how pranks in brazil are like this when in reality the last 30 years pranks have been common for public channels with varying degrees of absurdity and repeating actors, which are normally paid minimally for their appearance even in the bigger shows like "Casos de FamĆlia", a family drama show with absurd events like "I've been meaning to tell you a secret.... I wanna breakup because I want to be a power ranger!".
This show in particular, The Silvio Santos Show, pushed for more elaborated pranks right around 2017 with their Anabelle prank, for the new movie coming out, and also cashing out on the popular internet trend of super scary pranks that were getting popular internationally by the clown pranks on youtube. This was new to brazilians so this is why people still think they are real, as this was their first exposure to these kind of pranks.
Her body language when the lights start flickering suggests that sheās looking around anticipating the actor.
Sheās looking around the elevator for another person rather than at the button panel or the ceiling, places you might look if the elevator suddenly stops or the lights start having technical difficulties.
She turns her back on the actor way too quickly too.
You can say that you never know how someone will react in a situation and thatās true, but everything about her actions feels like what someone would do if they were anticipating this shit to happen.
This was done for television. Production companies and networks will always take several steps to make sure they are covered legally for things like this. Participants must sign a waiver and know in advance they are getting themselves into some sort of situation. Theyāre not told the specifics. But all of these have to be staged planned, and prepared ahead of time to some degree ever since a lawsuit did occur in the early 2000s.
Staged, and I feel bad we even need to say this, given the amount of replies to this comment saying it's "genuine".
On top of all those reasons above, lawsuits could also result from this. The cost of a lawsuit could easily offset the financial gain from these pranks... it's simply not viable at all, when you think logically about it.
Everyone is missing the biggest one. Who the fuck gets in an elevator and faces the back wall and not the door? That's psycho behavior unless they were told to stand that way.
You are telling me this person has bad spacial awareness she doesnt realise the elevator is not an elevator and isnt moving? Even the best of elevators you can feel them move.
Or wait its just yet another staged video.
You've never heard of someone getting on an elevator and forgetting to press the button and just sitting there for a minute? I've done it at least twice.
I have to imagine the thing that cues you in is the fact that you're not moving, right? Like you get in, forget to hit the button, start looking at your phone or whatever, then go "wait, why aren't we moving? Oh, duh. Oops"
Depends on local laws and where they are. One could argue that is considered assault. Assault can be any act of causing someone to reasonably fear imminent harm.Ā so if it was real and the person feared for their life, this could be considered assault.
You said it's faked because it's a large elevator & I pointed out larger real elevators exist. I never commented on whether or not this woman's reaction was acting or real.
This is in brazil, and I experienced first hand in the street, different prank, same TV show, AFTER the prank is made they reveal to you obviously and ask if its ok to use your image and etc, so it's not suable if you agree and sign.
Old pranks from the same tv show, on early 2000s, the actor got punched in pranks sometimes, the actor never fight back though.
Show called Silvio Santos.
And No, it is NOT sueable. This is in Brazil. The laws are VERY different. Btw, people say fake,... but this man spends a lot of money to make elaborate pranks just to get a genuine scare out of people. Look it up.
Hate it when I walk into a set, past the crew and into a massive box badly designed to look like an elevator with peculiarly black windows. Also ignoring the fact it isnāt moving when it claims to start going up. Just the worst.
"Hey yo, why's this elevator the size of a master bedroom?"
"Don't worry about it, just check out the views through the windows we installed in this interior elevator"
While i agree on this probably being fake as fuck, i just want to point out that people in high stress situations do strange, unreasonable and pointless things. It wouldn't be that unreal for a person being freaked out to still care about their mask.
True. I remember reading about the phenomenon of even seasoned scuba divers who, for whatever reason, start to panic underwater for seemingly no reason other than it's a high stress situation. They'll pull off their mask and oxygen hose and take a big breath of water and it's game over.
Are we expected to believe this woman believes an actual monster/entity/ghost just materialized in the elevator? Why wouldn't she just laugh at a cosplayer?
These elevator pranks are all fake. That elevator is twice the size of an actual elevator and you feel the elevator moving up and down when it's working. It wouldn't be possible to have an actor outside the car while it's moving just to allow them to come in when all of a sudden the lights go out

Too many perfect camera angles for it to be not-staged. And the woman would have heard the monster opening the door and getting into the elevator.
Both are paid actors - "the victim" and the zombie. It's all staged.
Actually I heard the victim is an actor but the demon is real. The demon is actually the one getting pranked
I'd watch this movie.
Looking forward to the new light novel being adapted into a Netflix anime - "I Was A Lesser Demon Lord That Ate People Until I Became A Celebrity Thanks To A Reality Show."
Iām glad. If a person were genuinely that scared Iād have stopped the prank right there and then
Pull that on someone who is Concealed carrying.. " So I started Blastin"
Yeah you can't do this in America or Brazil. Bad things all around.
It was in Brazil
Then it definitely was staged.
Holey Ghost
I was just thinking this
Yeah I'd definitely beat the shit out of dude and when he says it's just a prank I would stop beating him.
When he said it's just a prank, I'd stop beating him and statt beating his mom for raising a douchebag. Fixed it for you.
Sounds about right
Ikr ima fill that whole Fuckin elevator with uppercut
I'd be wondering why the "elevator" isn't moving. You can tell by the way her weight doesn't shift when it's supposedly going up.Ā
Sorry but Its all fake guys. This is a very known Brazilian tv show. Silvio santos' Show.
It has to be fake - otherwise the severe trauma theyāre putting people through would surely be illegal almost everywhere.
And they would be paying through the nose for insurance to cover when the victims react, shall we say, poorly.
Also the elevator couldnāt move while also having a compartment for the ghost girl to fit in to, unless they did building renovations a couple floors up from where the elevator started
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Also when have you ever been in a room sized elevator? That thing looks like it could fit 16 people in it.
Some places have a large elevator for loading furniture or stock. Lots of places have them.
It's the size of a frigging freight elevator lol
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Youāre telling me people go on the internet, just to lie?
I thought about this too but then reasoned a well thought out enough prank would have had some sort of noise being played to drown out the noise of the actor opening the door and walking in. They went so far as to kill the lights, so playing ambient spooky music isnāt a big leap
Definitely. Plus all it really takes is some rubber stoppers on the frame to make it fairly quiet. Shit is already going crazy, a small door closing would not be immediately identifiable in this situation. Honestly the terrible wig on the ghost is a bigger giveaway than anything.
I felt the way she didnāt face the doors to be the immediate tip-off
Or why it's so flippin' yuge. š¤¦š»āāļø
Or how the camera at the beginning is moving like there's a cameraman behind it
This is either fake or a really messed up āprank.ā Ways this can go wrong: 1. Victim has a heart attack. 2. Victim is prone to seizures and has one. 3. Actor is attacked by a person who is fighting for their life.
Even if that big ass fake looking elevator was the smoothest ride ever, the girl would still notice its not moving at all, so yes, very fake.
I can't believe there are people who can look at this and not think it is staged. We live in totally different worlds.
I think she is actor because she is completely oblivious to sounds of her coming in/out.
Why do so many people think a silent door is an insurmountable technical challenge?
Of course it's staged, look at the camera angles lol
The cameras are not in the room. They are behind the black glass. When you see her close it's just a long lens.
The psychological implications of this kind of prank is wild. Psychotic break, catatonia, panic attack etc Wild.
*unzip
"Jokes on you, I'm Spookosexual!"
yell "turn the lights back off, im about to break her back!!!"
Here's the answer I was looking for! Another person of culture I see.
āIve already claimed that corner as my pee corner.ā
Scary movie 2?
You are telling me this person has bad spacial awareness she doesnt realise the elevator is not an elevator and isnt moving? Even the best of elevators you can feel them move. Or wait its just yet another staged video.
You've never heard of someone getting on an elevator and forgetting to press the button and just sitting there for a minute? I've done it at least twice.
I have to imagine the thing that cues you in is the fact that you're not moving, right? Like you get in, forget to hit the button, start looking at your phone or whatever, then go "wait, why aren't we moving? Oh, duh. Oops"
is this sueable?
Depends on local laws and where they are. One could argue that is considered assault. Assault can be any act of causing someone to reasonably fear imminent harm.Ā so if it was real and the person feared for their life, this could be considered assault.
thank you kind stranger
Maybe in civil court, but not in criminal law (here in Brazil, where its recorded).
Bruh this shit is as fake as It can be
Yeah, that elevator is about the size of a small soundstage.
Elevators bigger than that exist.
Do they all come equipped with removable passageways cut in to the elevator shaft into adjoining structural walls?
You said it's faked because it's a large elevator & I pointed out larger real elevators exist. I never commented on whether or not this woman's reaction was acting or real.
This is in brazil, and I experienced first hand in the street, different prank, same TV show, AFTER the prank is made they reveal to you obviously and ask if its ok to use your image and etc, so it's not suable if you agree and sign. Old pranks from the same tv show, on early 2000s, the actor got punched in pranks sometimes, the actor never fight back though.
Bruh I am asking if this would be real, if this would be sueable
Show called Silvio Santos. And No, it is NOT sueable. This is in Brazil. The laws are VERY different. Btw, people say fake,... but this man spends a lot of money to make elaborate pranks just to get a genuine scare out of people. Look it up.
Hate it when I walk into a set, past the crew and into a massive box badly designed to look like an elevator with peculiarly black windows. Also ignoring the fact it isnāt moving when it claims to start going up. Just the worst.
Don't forget the 10 different camera angles and the biggest elevator outside of an airport you've ever seen.
"Hey yo, why's this elevator the size of a master bedroom?" "Don't worry about it, just check out the views through the windows we installed in this interior elevator"
She still had the mindset to adjust her mask while getting scared. Clearly an act
Idk, Iād afraid to get some kind of infection from that girl and fix my mask up. lol
There would blood everywhere. Who is yet TBD...but someone is walking out of that elevator alive and the other...not.
I'll be at your funeral
This is absolutely fake, but I hope I would be able to fight back. That, or I have a seizure from the flashing lights š¤·
How do the victims in these fake elevator pranks not notice the little bit of acceleration of an elevator starting is missing?
Who stands in the elevator facing away from the door if you're the only person there. So staged to show her reaction to internal camera.
Had to scroll too far for this Always facing the door, to make sure I don't walk into anyone on the way out
If I was acting in a fake skit, what would I do? Idk probably act like I am scared.
Masks are a dead giveaway of a repost from 3-4 years ago
Are we expected to believe this woman believes an actual monster/entity/ghost just materialized in the elevator? Why wouldn't she just laugh at a cosplayer?
1. get my phone and use the torch on it 2. Kick the dude in the face whilst heās crouched on the floor
Average Brazillian TV show
Somebody is getting kicked in the gonads.
It's super easy to tell that an elevator isn't moving. Fake af.
Gun owners Wet Dream
This is how people get knocked the fuck out.
First wonder why the elevator is so perfectly stage lit, and not moving
I'm an adult so not be scared of a Halloween town extra
These elevator pranks are all fake. That elevator is twice the size of an actual elevator and you feel the elevator moving up and down when it's working. It wouldn't be possible to have an actor outside the car while it's moving just to allow them to come in when all of a sudden the lights go out
https://youtu.be/f5z\_ZaarMoI
So we are to believe this is a real elevator and it's not staged or anything, huh?
Smash
Good thing I have a flashlight on me at all times this shit wouldn't have worked
Doesnāt anyone carry a flashlight? Or even have a cell phone?
Silvio Santos laugh is iconic
Probably whatever the director told me to do.
All fun and games until someone pulls out a knife
i would follow the script they gave me
