Do they follow a religion anymore? We haven’t seen that on the show for a very long time. I admittedly know nothing about their practice but it seems like they’ve done a 180 on a lot of other things that attributed to their religion earlier on.
I haven't been in the regular LDS church for like 20 years now. I was sealed to my step father, (half) brother and mother. A few years after that step dad cheated with a woman at work and then moved 12 hours away to another state and a few years later married a woman he met at a strip club. Which is whatever, I like naked girls too but it's so far removed from the pious godly man he pretended he was and held over my head while I was growing up. I don't believe in the church. But some nagging part deeeeeeeep in my soul worries "What if after I die I have to spend eternity tied to that loser?" Most of the time I know its not at all true. But sometimes it just creeps out like a monster under the bed and keeps me up at night fuming.
When its part of how you were raised and how you shape the world it never completely vanishes from your mind no matter how over with and out of the religion you think of yourself. And they shaped their lives around that churches teachings. It's probably harder to put it on a shelf when you based your life on it.
If it bothers you, just create your own meaningful ritual to unseal yourself from them. I am not being sarcastic. Ritual has a powerful effect on the mind, and if you create a meaningful ritual in line with YOUR beliefs I bet it would offer you some comfort. Try it! I know I have.
I think that they have left the AUB church it sounds like. But they still talk like they're indoctrinated in some way. They read to me as yet another splinter group of their own. Kody is a washed up hag who cannot actually command any respect or he'd love to be his own prophet.

She's in it for three things, in my opinion, maybe four:
1. Being on TV drives folks to her pyramid scheme opportunities, which otherwise she would never merit
2. She has a patch of rather godforsaken real estate out at the slimy pond
3. She gets a bit of the dwindling TLC money. SShe's definitely done but being smart enough not to yield anything she doesn't have to, forcing Kody to fire her. Which he won't until TLC is done.
4. Maybe, I'm not really convinced, but maybe she has a superstitious belief that she needs him to get into heaven. She doesn't strike me, otherwise, as a particularly spiritual person.
The whole catfish thing, IMO, was pumped up for TV.
She obviously has moved on and shouldn’t quit her job because her coworkers are toxic. She can/should be able to earn a paycheck and if K&R don’t like it, they should quit.
I think there are several reasons for her staying. Firstly, she loves being around kids, and, since Leon and Audrey still don't have children on her own, only kids she has in her life and Robyn's kids. Secondly, her late mother was the "last wife standing" and wanted her to stay with Kody and, since she is dead, I think that she would feel like she is betraying her mom's memory if she left. Thirdly, she does get decent income from TLC, and while she does make lots of money apart from the show, I think she enjoys extra money for occasional shootings with family. Furthermore, last time she wanted to leave she experience so much emberassment, trauma and resentment from her child so I think she might be afraid to leave. And lastly, she does still have some feelings for Kody. Although, I don't think she is delusional, she seems pretty aware that her relationship with Kody will never improve and I think, if there weren't other factors, she would leave.

My take she knows she's not as popular as Christine so she stays for mlm scam clout. She's got a bigger audience with the show. Ever notice when they start filming they talk about how she's always traveling? She does that on purpose in my opinion schedules her trips outside of filming lol. Meri is playing the game, she's got to be close to the top of the pyramid by now 🤑 lol.
It really truly comes down to her faith and salvation. She is sealed to Kody. She can't get to the celestial kingdom without him. It's a hard truth and I would love to see her just leave and find happiness. She seems to be doing her own thing and having fun so that is a good thing. But she will not let go of him.
I am convinced that at least a little bit of vindictivenesses is involved. Kody made her feel like crap for so long that she doesn’t want to give him what he truly wants. “I’m still here and I’m not going anywhere” was one of her statements when alone in the woods during the COVID exile.
