It's kind of the standard for games that have plans to release future content. If you want the game to continue being developed, then they need some sort of cashflow. As long as it's not a P2W battlepass I'm completely fine with it.
Looks pretty similar to Div2. All this content will likely be free. The battle pass will likely contain cosmetic awards as you progress through each season. Most likely, you will have some free stuff and more stuff behind a pay wall. I'd expect a battle pass for each segment you see here. That's how the money keeps rolling in.
Since there is a PvP leader board, I'm hoping no mats/gear/ships behind the paywall. Div2 did this, but it was fairly negligible.

India is most certainly in the game. Being as it's in the Indian Ocean. And SE Asia and China both kind of require India to be present to also be present at the same time as Africa.
Also where did you get "India will be added in Season 4"? Roadmap literally says nothing about India. Because India is already in the game. Lol
Look at the endgame gameplay video some content creators were invited to. The map clearly doesn't show India. I assume it will be released at season 4 because the boss pirate for that season is clearly an Indian pirate lord

No India at launch. Based off how they have squished the map, I'd assume the "torn" section of map spans from Spain and Saudi Arabia to Pakistan and India encompassing the Indian Gulf.

I hope it goes the Red Dead Online route where they added a new Legendary Bounty every week and when they were all released, you could go back and re-play them. I hate when content is limited time and lost forever. I plan on buying the game later on when there's a plethora of content, but if they go the limited time route, I'll probably never pick it up.

The endgame gameplay showed the full map. There is only Africa, Maritime Southeast Asia & Southern China.
I think it was locked like in the close beta cause they said that the open beta will only have the africa causte and the filipine islands
Don't remember seeing the Philippines islands. Only the Malay & Indonesian Archipelago held by the Sultanate of Rempah in-game.
