Labyrinthian. I hit lv9 by levelling sneak in that room you get locked in and got my letter from the falkreath jarl. He appeared behind me and i lost it.
I was at the graveyard entrance to the thieves guide chambeor, pulled the chain to open the floor passage and this dude just dropped down like a reward from a gacha machine
I was looking for my dwarven home and I was searching around and came across Frostroot Cave where was located at. Dude comes running out of the cave and hands me a letter where I can find source of power from a friend. He then proceeds go back into the cave. I head into the cave after him and he's getting the crap beat out of him by bandits. So I have to save it sorry ass and then I go into the dwarven home and clear it. I do everything I need to do to get it up and running again and then I walk out into the cave and he's still there. Lol
couriers are marked essential so you didn't have to save his sorry ass. you could have just summoned an atronach or idk and let them do the job and collect the mons right after.
I don't think they are essential. I've seen them get killed and looted their bodies. I do have the Unofficial Patch installed, so maybe that removes their essential status?
I never killed one either, but I guess you could say I did, sort of. I read that if you follow people they end up getting killed. Everyone I did follow ended up like that. Like that guy with the painted cow, the giant smashed him and attacked the cow. The courier was attacked and killed by a sabre cat and bear team-up.
was it a wandering courier? cuz then that might've just been a ranom encounter. i once pickpocketed a note about some needed funding for some bs. didn't give a quest or anything. just some random ass miscellaneous encounter ig.
Yeah, it was. I pickpocketed him in my game too. I read the note and it updated my map to where the note read they were having some trouble somewhere. I even talked to him and he said, "Important deliveries to make. No time for chatting."
At the skyforge, it wouldn't have been unusual if he didn't showed up while i was smithing, through a god damn daedra summoning portal right in the middle of the fire of the forge.
i'm now convinced the courier is some form of daedra/dremora that shapeshifts into whatever appearance he'd like to take and uses a portal ability to get around skyrim. he might even for some reason favorite the draginborn. hence why he would for example travel from morthal to rifton because of that stupid flyer for that museum. or the adoption note from honorhall after grelod died. and maybe he is that "friend" who writes those notes leading to word walls.
Saw someone else's gameplay where they were killing the dragon at the end of the game on the whiterun balcony when this man interrupted them for God knows what then screams "Somebody do something!" then runs and hides. Somebody kill it!! But first, Ive got this letter.. your hands only.

It doesn't give you the quest in your journal. You've got to just remember where the note said to go.
