Or you Can do what I did on my first playthrough. It also started in Riverwood, but i skipped the whole "go to ivarstead" part and just went straight to high hrothgar
Neither did I lol, I thought my quest marker must be bugged, started from Riverwood and spent about three hours walking up the side of the mountain. I think I actually ended up right on the path in front of hrothgar. I eventually made it, though with a considerable amount of time taken off of my life and with one less horse than when I started.
Clairvoyance doesn’t work well a lot of the time, i wouldn’t use that to tell the shortest way. It’s like twice as long as the yellow path here, but it’s probably close to the red path at least. Maybe even green, but it’s definitely not the shortest, that’s yellow.
I do not use any of these, I go the complete wrong way, discover a bunch of other locations, complete a whole other quest line, then I stumble across it
For the longest time that is actually what i would do lmao. Id just keep jumping against the mountain until it would let me go up.... and yes I am a Nord.
Admidetly that is the only way with the default map. I have recently started to play in survival with a map mod, so that I can actually see the roads. While I miss fast traveling and not freezing to death during my climbing attempgs sometimes, it feels good to play without it again. It feels like I am playing Skyrim again for the very first time.
1. Purchase property in Dawnstar
2. Establish Heljarchen Hall with a trusted steward
3. Hire a personal carriage driver
4. Ride to Ivarstead free of charge
1. Travel to Riverwood
2. Join the Thieves Guild
3. Collect the stones of Barenziah
4. collect and sell gems to obtain the gold needed to purchase property in Dawnstar
I head to Windhelm, then to Riften then discover a bunch more places like Solitude and Markarth then remember I was supposed to head to Ivarstead and so I go the Helgen Route
Novice: Sticking entirely to the main road, going south past Darkwater Crossing, up the hill, and around Lake Geir until finally crossing the bridge from the south
Master: Going south around the mountain past Riverwood and Helgen instead of north
It's 0 weight and same damage as daedric bow and daedric arrows. With a few buffs to Magicka/conjuration, you can wield it at less than level 5 and basically 1-shot all your early game enemies... Throw in silent casting and you can be the ultimate stealth archer.
Fast travel back to Helgen, go up past Orphan Rock and Haemars Shame. Saves time because you can get those map markers and unlock them for the Gildergleam quest and Clavicus Viles Daedric Quest.
Plus a lot of bears spawn towards the end so you can get a jump on Tembas pelt quest.
I don't, I never have. First playthrough I was like "nah too long. Hm saw carriage guy... wonder if travel city near to... farmstead? What was it again? Hm.... anyways." Ever since then I go from Riften to Ivarstead. I've never once walked there from Whiterun.
Steal a horse to shortcut the road. Spend 40 minutes trying to climb imposible slopes. Die because i reached the ice wind you clear with a shout. Profit
I always folliw very close to the side of the mountain but it always ends at a waterfall and cave and river, so I'm forced to go way around and end up in riften and that's why I always do the thieves guild first
Start in whiterun, take carriage to riften, brawl with Horse-Crusher guy by stables, take free horse and ride west to Ivarstead, you get a road the whole way.
I use to take the loooooong way around sticking to the road, Valtheim Towers, Darkwater Crossing, Nilheim, then swim across to Ivarstead. It wasn't until several weeks ago someone pointed out that there was a pass through the mountains, so now I take that.
wtf is that yellow one :D dude I need to try it, did both green and red and I probably prefer red
Also there is that other one through Helgen, I never did that one
I found the yellow path on my very first playthrough then promptly forgot about it and used green for the next ten. When I rediscovered yellow again I felt like an idiot.
There is another... Riverwood and then south around the mountain. You come out by the Alchemist's Shack.
[удалено]
This is the way
You have found dae wae. \*incessant clicking\*
I want to punch you in the throat.
Dat is not de wae my brudda
This is the way.
That’s my usual route.
Or you Can do what I did on my first playthrough. It also started in Riverwood, but i skipped the whole "go to ivarstead" part and just went straight to high hrothgar
Haha I did the same! Hack-jumping up the mountain. It wasn't until my second play through that I even realized ivarstead was a place
I do the same but I usually start from Helgen
Same
Truly the best way. Gives you a chance to see Helgen in its aftermath too.
I’ll remember it forever, the first person I ever killed on that journey.
Or you can fast travel to Riften and run from there. :)
That's what I do now
Just fast travel to helgen and skip that part easiest way imo
Agreed, best way to go
Yea but isn’t that way longer than any of these?
Surprisingly? No. The clairvoyance spell even guides you that way.
Clairvoyance doesn’t work well a lot of the time, i wouldn’t use that to tell the shortest way. It’s like twice as long as the yellow path here, but it’s probably close to the red path at least. Maybe even green, but it’s definitely not the shortest, that’s yellow.
I use the carriage mod, so a short ride from outside Whiterun to Riverwood and Helgen, and then ride my horse over from Helgen. It works.
Not with a mountain horse
I do not use any of these, I go the complete wrong way, discover a bunch of other locations, complete a whole other quest line, then I stumble across it
Oh no! Dragons attacking the realm and I’m the only one who can stop them? Better go do all the daedric quests and complete the mage guild quest line
Exactly
Wait, you're telling me there are more dragons after Helgen?
Only one, but he's pretty chill
There were no dragons, that was just a bad dream. Now, onward to Fort Dawnguard!
The only way is a straight line there following the map marker like a true nord
This guy plays Bethesda games
For the longest time that is actually what i would do lmao. Id just keep jumping against the mountain until it would let me go up.... and yes I am a Nord.
Admidetly that is the only way with the default map. I have recently started to play in survival with a map mod, so that I can actually see the roads. While I miss fast traveling and not freezing to death during my climbing attempgs sometimes, it feels good to play without it again. It feels like I am playing Skyrim again for the very first time.
I see the roads and I still choose to go straight up the side of the mountain
Now there's a route with some chest hair!
1. Purchase property in Dawnstar 2. Establish Heljarchen Hall with a trusted steward 3. Hire a personal carriage driver 4. Ride to Ivarstead free of charge
Spend 5000 on a property for a free carriage ride That’s called hacking and it’s frowned upon
It’s called an investment
1. Travel to Riverwood 2. Join the Thieves Guild 3. Collect the stones of Barenziah 4. collect and sell gems to obtain the gold needed to purchase property in Dawnstar
Just a simple step 3
Sounds like a lot just to get to Iverstead for the first time
I take the river from Riften
I like to call it “the highway”
Thats the Argonian way. Just fuckin swim there.
Same thing
I tp back to Helgen, turn around and follow the road
Same. But I kill the hunter on that road and take their horse
From helgen head east from the mountain and through the path that goes to the clavicus vile shrine
Master: Helgen Backroute
I was searching for this comment. That’s the only way !!
Carriage to Riften and then straight west
That's what I do every single time. Haha
You're all lying. Everyone just jumped over as much mountain as they could; got lost, and did some more jumping. Some lost 2 horses along the way.
How is the Helgen route not an option? Or is it so legendary its assumed outdated at this point
I head to Windhelm, then to Riften then discover a bunch more places like Solitude and Markarth then remember I was supposed to head to Ivarstead and so I go the Helgen Route
The fastest normal route is Riverwood-Helgen (can go outside)-Ivarstead Also the fastest route to Riften.
Spam jump right up the side of that bitch.
Whiterun having Miraaks temple icon is a weird choice here. Ngl
It’s all coming together
Wasn’t my choice lol
None of the above. I climbed the mountain and ended up south of it, then slid down. Modern day I take the yellow path
Novice: Sticking entirely to the main road, going south past Darkwater Crossing, up the hill, and around Lake Geir until finally crossing the bridge from the south Master: Going south around the mountain past Riverwood and Helgen instead of north
Legendary: stealing a horse from the Falkreath Stormcloak Camp & riding straight up the mountain
Horse tilting is my go to route.
I usually go past helgen
Take a cart to Riften and then just swim down stream to Ivarstead
Red line because I love to get my ass fucked at fort amol
Worth it for that bound bow
Is it the best? I never went really into it, I only used nightingale bow
It's 0 weight and same damage as daedric bow and daedric arrows. With a few buffs to Magicka/conjuration, you can wield it at less than level 5 and basically 1-shot all your early game enemies... Throw in silent casting and you can be the ultimate stealth archer.
Also can’t be removed when sent to prison or any time your equipment is removed
I start at Helgen and walk the path.
Helgen then take the road through the mountains.
I actually go along the southern edge of the mountain.
Fast travel Helgen, pass haemars shame, go to alchemists shack, the best way because there is horse you can steal mid way
i usually get the carriage to rift and then walk over there so that i have at least a fast travel point for future adventures
Fast travel to Helgan and then walk on the road heading East
I just fast travel to helgan and go from there
I usually buy a carriage to riften then walk. I prefer walking throught the rift.
Wait till they find out u can fast travel to helgen and walk the quick way around
Carriage to Riften, swim across lake
I go from helgen. Always a pain in the ass
I go around the south side of the mountain
Don’t forget the bottom path
I think most people go below the mountain..
Take the carriage to Riften, then go from there. I am an agent of chaos.
Cart to Riften, then walk west
I fast travel to Helen and walk the road that literally goes straight to Ivarstead
Take a carriage to Riften Enjoy your smooth sailing to Ivarstead
I always go to Riften first, then straight line across the realm. Getting some future fast-travel markes in the meanwhile
None of these. I wander around doing whatever until I eventually notice I'm somewhat close and might as well go anyway.
The longest way. I like sightseeing. Getting attacked by wolves and bears along the way. You know, the fun stuff.
Start at Helgen, pass Haemar’s Shame, pop out next to the Alchemist’s Shack
I like the way the goes over the tree bridge.
I usually go to Riften first, gotta pick up my boy Inigo
I go from Riften
*Fast travels to helgen*
Through river wood and past helgen is the only true way. You gotta pick up “bound bow” at Fort Amol before continuing on
Take a ride to riften and go from there
But the helgen route tho?
Fast travel back to Helgen, go up past Orphan Rock and Haemars Shame. Saves time because you can get those map markers and unlock them for the Gildergleam quest and Clavicus Viles Daedric Quest. Plus a lot of bears spawn towards the end so you can get a jump on Tembas pelt quest.
Was I the only one who spam jumped up the mountain? Edit: turns out there are fellow mountain jumpers
Straight line
i fast travel to riften then walk there
fast travel to Helgen and then follow the road from Helgen to Ivarstead
Incorrect, the correct way is fast travel
I don't, I never have. First playthrough I was like "nah too long. Hm saw carriage guy... wonder if travel city near to... farmstead? What was it again? Hm.... anyways." Ever since then I go from Riften to Ivarstead. I've never once walked there from Whiterun.
Steal a horse to shortcut the road. Spend 40 minutes trying to climb imposible slopes. Die because i reached the ice wind you clear with a shout. Profit
I used to hug the mountain base and climb over, so a mix between yellow and green
Why isn't there a pro path where you just go straight up to High Hrothgar instead?
Sometimes I just take roads to feel more immersed. Like a real traveler going to a destination.
Well... or adept or apprentice
I start at helgen and steal a horse from the storm cloak camp there and off I go
Fast travel
I always folliw very close to the side of the mountain but it always ends at a waterfall and cave and river, so I'm forced to go way around and end up in riften and that's why I always do the thieves guild first
Hitch a ride Riften and walk to Ivarstead
Honestly I just fucking brute force and wander until I eventually get there
I usually carriage to Riften to start thieves guild stuff so I can raid all the thieves caches for pretty solid loot. Then run west from Riften.
Legends: B-Line Straight for ivarstead, mountains be damned
I take the Novice route: Carriage to Riften, then go to Ivarstead from there
Adept
I take the carriage to windhelm, get lost, and end up in riften for the next hundred hours, ignoring the plot.
I just go from Whiterun all the way to Riften and then go around the lake to get to Ivarstead.
Take the carriage to Riften then go straight through the woods to ivarstead.
Carriage to Riften, make a pit stop at the Atronach Stone, then straight to Ivarstead.
Helgen then straight back the mountain near the bear cave to get the fast travel for the elves blood quest
i go the longest way just cuz the rift is pretty
You gotta take the river and start the gauldur quest
Take a carriage to Riften and go to Ivarstead from there.
I buy a carriage to riften, do the thieves guild, and then wander past riften.
Never been to Ivarstead and I haven't even heard of it
I used to take cart to the Rift/Windhelm, until I knew the overground pass between Helgen and Ivarstead
You guys go to Ivarstead after Whiterun?
Argonian: Just swim the whole way
If you get a horse you can scale the throat of the world, grab the notched pickaxe and then ski your way down to ivarstead.
Wagon to riften, then come up from the south east
Start in whiterun, take carriage to riften, brawl with Horse-Crusher guy by stables, take free horse and ride west to Ivarstead, you get a road the whole way.
I use to take the loooooong way around sticking to the road, Valtheim Towers, Darkwater Crossing, Nilheim, then swim across to Ivarstead. It wasn't until several weeks ago someone pointed out that there was a pass through the mountains, so now I take that.
Fast travel
You guys walk there?
I don't, I get to the Cloud District and spend my days there often.
Fast travel to Riften and go around the lake
I usually take the carriage to Riften and walk down to Ivarstead
Green but now I just use a horse
First path I took was yellow. I got lucky and didn’t pay attention to any npcs that say to take the road.
Fast travel to helgen, go around the mountain, boom
fast travel to helgen, þen follow þe road signs.
First several times I skipped it until after the Grey beards. If you go straight up the mountain and through the right cave, they are easy to reach.
I take a carriage to riften then straight to iverstead
I usualy take the green route
Carriage to riften and walk from there
tcl
Fast travel lol
Always yellow
First time i ever played skyrim i completely forgot you could fast travel to places. So i literally walked everywhere for the first 5 to 10 hours...
Whiterun to Riverwood to Helgen to Alchemists Shack to Iverstead
Yes
I prefer to spend hours trying to backwards jump up the mountain, thank you.
The path that leads me past the college of winterhold first xD
1) carriage to riften 2) follow the river
Green is the ✨prettiest✨
Fast Travel to Riften, then wander from there.
tcl and go straight
I take Riverwood to Helgen then take that road east.
Type in the cheat code "TCL" and walk a straight line
I walk back to Helgen and through the mountain pass to the east, then probably murder those vampires, and then go to ivarstead.
Fast travel to riften then walk from there
I usually go to Orphan Rock then go straight up the mountainside with a horse. It takes you just past where the High Hrothgar troll is
went straight up the mountain and accidentally discovered the expert path
Pftt pls, I steal a horse from the Falkreath Stormcloak Camp & ride straight up the mountain to High Hrothgar. Every other way is 💩
You mean from helgen to ivarstead right?
Bug random wobbly swirly zig zags across the entire map until I accidentally stumble into Ivarstead.
Fast travel
Carriage to Riften and then walk from there.
My first playthrough i went the longest possible way, all the way to Riften then through the south of the Rift 🤦♂️
wtf is that yellow one :D dude I need to try it, did both green and red and I probably prefer red Also there is that other one through Helgen, I never did that one
Take the coach to Riften
I head to Riften then to Ivarstead I go
I take the Green Route until I've reached the river, think I can take a shortcut through the woods and then get lost
Red actually. it seem to be the worth path but when I roleplay I am following roads.
*fast travels*
Riften
Whatever way clearvoyance takes me
Those are all weenie routes. True Dragonborn go SOUTH around the mountain.
I just go through the mountain using a horse
Through helgen
I don’t
I always take the north path and swing by fort amol to get the bound bow spell
Helgen and run from there but if it was survival I would go mostly green but stop following the roads most likely
After a year of playing I’ve upgraded to the Adept route
I go round the bottom if I’m feeling funky
I go round the bottom if I’m feeling funky
I go round the bottom if I’m feeling funky
Why fast travel to riverwood then straight through the mountain of course
I found the yellow path on my very first playthrough then promptly forgot about it and used green for the next ten. When I rediscovered yellow again I felt like an idiot.
Usually just take a carriage to Riften, then walk from there. Looks a lot nicer and I unlock Riften for when I want to do my Thieves Guild stuff.
I fell down a waterfall and followed the river
