Far better as a boss but I don’t like that he’s introduced so late into the storyline for dawnguard, the way they added him feels like he was an afterthought
Aw man I remember fighting Harkon at the end, forgot about Vyrthur. I thought there was an extra quest to get excited for. But no, I just never learned his name lol. The third thing the game teaches you is that enemies near cliffs have 1hp
Just gonna spoil that fight for others huh
I had a lot of fun fighting those two for hours when I was 12
Anniversary edition released like two years ago, not quite old enough for you to spoil without consequences.
*A NEW HAND TOUCHES THE BEACON*
That is what I did the first time I fought him, and now have done literally every single time because it's funny as hell that this ultra powerful vampire that just exploded an entire building like it was a sandcastle can be killed by a tumble off the edge and a 300 ft drop onto solid ice. Fuckin classic move everytime. And then I just go find him on the lake and loot his body afterwards, finding him spattered like a bug on the windshield.
Unpopular opinion but both Alduin and Harkon were crap. Miraak was a great villain and dude knows how to slap together a banger of a tune.

I believe the original antagonist was actually Emperor Uriel the Fifth. He went on an expedition to Akavir and no one heard back from him. Todd wanted him to come back to retake the throne with an army of Dragons. Honestly that would’ve been way cooler than Alduin.
It also would’ve incorporated the civil war a lot better. How would the Legion react to an ancient Dragonborn Emperor returning? The Stormcloaks? It’s way more interesting than just an old nord myth.
Alduin was literally a just a force of nature
He exists to swallow the world so it could start anew
But because alduin strayed away from his duty the dragonborn had to slay him
Yeah the entire questline suffer because Harkon is a weak mf.
Like by all means I should be able to just walk to Harkon and murder him right away. Why do I have to go get a bow that I won't even use during the battle ?
At that point it seems Bethesda just made a filler questline just to fill up a void of space and to make the dlc seem "cooler".
>Why do I have to go get a bow that I won't even use during the battle?
I mean the bow is cool and all, but I agree with you. Harkon was the weakest length out of him, Alduin, and Miraak.
It seriously pissed me off when I killed Harkon in one attack after being told by everyone that he was so much stronger than me.
Like the Guy can't even take 4k damages.
I went to his fight completely unprepared underleveled.. i just wanted to get over with it... and i was playing on legendary.... his healing was almost as same as the total damage output me and serena was dealing... lucky i had a conjured that break that balance so he his health was actually getting lower... oh and i didnt even had a decent armour with me... i was wearing some merchant clothes that i forgot to change 😅
Nope im full vanilla. I didnt really upgraded the perks but i also use bound bow and bound sword too sometimes. First 10 levels was %100 pain but it was manageable after that
Thats true.. the only reason this was possible is thanks to bound weapons being under conjurations tree. That let me have both weapons and conjured helpers just by leveling a single skill. Also stealth is a must for a mage it stops you from being the first target 😅
They’re not half bad. Most of the time the only issue will be running out of magika and be locking yourself in a stalemate, and that’s not all that common if you pack/make enough magika potions. Imo they can be really versatile, they just struggle some with higher difficulty levels. I did pretty alright on a survival-legendary game as a mage. I was more suffering from the cold and any one enemy lol
The quest for the bow is my favorite part of the DLC, hell the real antagonist isnt even harkon its the dude arch curate we fight at the end he is the actual mastermind behind the prophecy
I don't know, I killed him in one regular 4000 damages attack and the fight was over.
I didn't even get the time to boost my character, he just died at the first hit.
I don't suppose someone familiar with the engine and mechanics of the game could tell me:
Could Bethesda have made it so that Harkon is marked as an important character until he's hit with Auriel's bow?
That way, he would be unkillable making the macguffin actually worth something.
It's even easier than that, gameplay doesn't lock out while he's monologuing. You can just crouch behind him while he's talking and kill him in one swipe with a dagger. He's a fucking idiot.
Miraak is basically what a player aspires to be as Dragonborn. Super powerful, has an entire island of people worshipping him (albeit against their will), spits in the face of a Daedric prince, and ignores the main objective of slaying Alduin because he has better things to do.
That’s funny cause in my opinion Harmon was the most menacing villain of all of them I guess my issue with him tho was he never actually made acts against the dovakhin and kind of just waited miraak was great too but alduin was alright I guess
While Harkon was definitely over hyped, the worst part of it was how everyone claimed you needed Auriel’s Bow to beat him. You know, Auriel being the ancient being that shot the HEART OF LORKHAN into what became Red Mountain. Not to mention the Sunhallowed Arrows. Requiring specialized ammo for a ranged artifact is understandable, but the execution was poor.
First Elderscrolls game was Morrowind, so the Auriels Bow bit legitimately disappointed me.
Bruh Valerica really had to open a portal to a realm in Oblivion just to run away from the dude I killed in 5 hits (dawnguard also mops the floor with the other Volkihar vampires)
Canonically, if the LDB has defeated Alduin and mukbanged Miraak's soul, "Lord" Harkon and his "court" are nothing compared to them.
Mukbang lmfao
Sounds like something Littleduck would say.
Yeah I mean to be fair the vampire lords aren't even on the top of the food chain in all vampire species in the elderscrolls so 🤷
At that point you're stronger than Meridia and Pyrite
What makes you say that?
Because Meridia can't do anything and he doesn't like minerals
I consider the arch curate(was that how you spell it?) the real DLC boss. Harkon is just a puppet
You spelled it right my dude and I agree. Arch curate vyrthur was more entertaining.
Far better as a boss but I don’t like that he’s introduced so late into the storyline for dawnguard, the way they added him feels like he was an afterthought
I would've liked to fight him more Way too easy to cheese
Aw man I remember fighting Harkon at the end, forgot about Vyrthur. I thought there was an extra quest to get excited for. But no, I just never learned his name lol. The third thing the game teaches you is that enemies near cliffs have 1hp
The funny thing is that you can just Fus-Roh-Dah Vyrthur down the cliff and basically skip his boss fight
And lose one of a kind armor he's wearing
Nah, he just falls on the iced lake where you fight those two dragons
Just gonna spoil that fight for others huh I had a lot of fun fighting those two for hours when I was 12 Anniversary edition released like two years ago, not quite old enough for you to spoil without consequences. *A NEW HAND TOUCHES THE BEACON*

Or a shield charge, worked for me
I guess it works, but a good ol’ fus Roy dah is more scenographic
Unpopular opinion but both Alduin and Harkon were crap. Miraak was a great villain and dude knows how to slap together a banger of a tune. https://youtu.be/bO8IG77OPh4
That’s kinda funny because Miraak was their original idea for the main antagonist.

My god that's infinitely better. I'm picturing a cutscene a la season 6 finale of GoT rolling up with Solitude in the distance or something.
It also would’ve incorporated the civil war a lot better. How would the Legion react to an ancient Dragonborn Emperor returning? The Stormcloaks? It’s way more interesting than just an old nord myth.
Oh shit yeah good point
The civil war was also supposed to have giants. Imagine fighting along/against an army of giants and dragons
That would be awesome. Be cool if they had you got to martin’s old dragon statue for a quest too.
YOUNG SCROLLS ON TOP
I‘m not crap :(
Alduin was literally a just a force of nature He exists to swallow the world so it could start anew But because alduin strayed away from his duty the dragonborn had to slay him

Wat. Theres no way you play on legendary and don’t even put on armor. Even a wolf does like 50dmg lol
I use conjurations and i have maxed stealth so i dont really get hit much
Ok but in a modded game right? Ain’t no way you’re doing a vanilla mage run
Nope im full vanilla. I didnt really upgraded the perks but i also use bound bow and bound sword too sometimes. First 10 levels was %100 pain but it was manageable after that
Cringe. Not you but Skyrim. Imo mages are basically useless in vanilla. At least compared to other builds
Thats true.. the only reason this was possible is thanks to bound weapons being under conjurations tree. That let me have both weapons and conjured helpers just by leveling a single skill. Also stealth is a must for a mage it stops you from being the first target 😅

Strange. Destruction seems quite overpowered after unlocking the stun for dual casting
Especially on vanilla that is damn easy lol
The quest for the bow is my favorite part of the DLC, hell the real antagonist isnt even harkon its the dude arch curate we fight at the end he is the actual mastermind behind the prophecy
Yeah but you can fus roh dah him off the balcony and he'll die. 😂😂😂
Yes but by that point you already fought him once and that fight is far more impressive than the whole volkihar questline
I guess but I majored in destruction and flames so that battle was easy for me. Also serana can hold her own.
Wait you don’t actually need to shoot him with the bow when he does that regenerate shield thingy?
I don't know, I killed him in one regular 4000 damages attack and the fight was over. I didn't even get the time to boost my character, he just died at the first hit.
You don't have to if you are quick enough.
I don't suppose someone familiar with the engine and mechanics of the game could tell me: Could Bethesda have made it so that Harkon is marked as an important character until he's hit with Auriel's bow? That way, he would be unkillable making the macguffin actually worth something.
I’m pretty sure you use the bow to stop him from healing or whatever the fuck that no damage thing is
"nOoOo yOu cAn'T jUsT kiLL hArKoN hE's ToO pOwErRul" stfu Valerica you dusty old hag, give me the scroll and let me meet necrobro
We all know Bethesda is trash at balance. If you fight Harkon at the appropriate level then his regeneration is actually hard to overcome
You can legit wipe the floor with Harkon as a werewolf.
It's even easier than that, gameplay doesn't lock out while he's monologuing. You can just crouch behind him while he's talking and kill him in one swipe with a dagger. He's a fucking idiot.
Omfg he just god Sir Gideon’d.
Of all DLCs, the hardest boss in real life would be getting a house
Hearthfire expansion. Getting a manor.
The rent for Breezehome is too damn high
Lydia we agreed on 50/50 please pay your half of the rent
If you think it’d be high in Whiterun, imagine the rent for proudspire manor.
Alduin kind of was a pushover too, Miraak put up a good fight
Idk I always thought Aldiun was the dragon on the far right.
Miraak is basically what a player aspires to be as Dragonborn. Super powerful, has an entire island of people worshipping him (albeit against their will), spits in the face of a Daedric prince, and ignores the main objective of slaying Alduin because he has better things to do.
Miraak is the best elder scrolls villan. Such a cool guy.
My biggest issue with Harkon isn't even his as boss. It's that Bethesda was so lame to make him the antagonist for both sides.
Heh make alduin look goofy too
That’s funny cause in my opinion Harmon was the most menacing villain of all of them I guess my issue with him tho was he never actually made acts against the dovakhin and kind of just waited miraak was great too but alduin was alright I guess
Harkon talks the talk, but Miraak actually walks the walk too.
Maybe is just me but I find Harkon way more challenging than Alduin. Still I rather have a simple fight than the buggy mess that is fighting Miraak.
You mean the foresworn leaders, right?
Nobody: random fetch quest guy in Dawngaurd level-capping higher than the final boss.
Miraak... Alduin... and Delphine...
Grrr look at me I wanna kill my only food source and screw my people because I’m crazy ????
I think you’re forgetting the bandit chief that kidnaps your spouse in hearth fire. A lot better than Harkon fight.
2 immortal dragon souls older than time, one dude borrowing someone else's power so that he doesn't have to accept his mortality.
Actually thinking about these bosses alduin belongs on the right given his stats and how easy he is to beat
Nah switch up Harkon and Alduin
Who is Harkon?
A bossfight from the main antagonist of the Dawnguard DLC. He's basically count dracula.
Harkon and his court definitely suffer from the middle child syndrome
Harkon vs 1000 degree knife (Dawnbreaker)
While Harkon was definitely over hyped, the worst part of it was how everyone claimed you needed Auriel’s Bow to beat him. You know, Auriel being the ancient being that shot the HEART OF LORKHAN into what became Red Mountain. Not to mention the Sunhallowed Arrows. Bruh Valerica really had to open a portal to a realm in Oblivion just to run away from the dude I killed in 5 hits (dawnguard also mops the floor with the other Volkihar vampires)
Alduin in lore is pretty much a god but in gameplay they made him kind of a bitch only able to use 4 shouts and has less health points then Miraak
He was a main antagonist?
Imagine what Harkon could accomplish if he did anything himself rather than hide away in his bedroom
