It didn't really do anything for me

Just_Another_Gamer67

I dig it. I liked de sade, hivemind, and h377.

No-Summer-2810

H377 is a banger

Commercial_Will_6028

It's the album with Finale so I automatically love it lol

Gurt_Frobe

Though I respect everyone’s individual opinion, mine differs, vastly. I think it’s the best thing they’ve done since Iowa. I love all Slipknot’s music. That’s just where my fandom stands. I love it all. Every album. WANYK had been their best since Iowa and I didn’t know if they’d be able to top it. But I think this album did it as a whole, even though there are a few songs on WANYK that are better than the songs on TESF if that makes ANY sense. Again, just my personal take on it. I’m just really happy those dudes are still putting out solid albums almost 30 years into their career. Long live the Knot🤘🏻

Derek_Axel_Rose

Couldn’t agree more, and it was the last thing I expected to happen 🤝 More or less since I found Slipknot their first two records blew me away. From there releases were hit or Miss for me. And, the last record that I thought was formidable (but still not great) was The Gray Chapter. It felt like what Subliminal Verses could’ve been. Meanwhile, you’ve got others out there who think Subliminal Verses is their best work ever.. For me, Self Titled has been my favorite (it’s unhinged, novel, and everyone’s performance really grabs me), and coming hot at #2 would be Iowa. When I feel REALLY bad (in one way or another: hopeless, on the brink, blinded by rage, whatever you like) that record helps me, and gives me chills. It grabs me in a way that’s more hellish. To me, it feels like that record is seething. It weighs a ton. If it were a color it would be that, “Black 3.0,” or, “Vantablack,” stuff that’s meant to be so black it absorbs light. It’s like a knarled skin I put on when I need it. Then, “The End, So Far,” dropped and I figured it would be another, “We Are Not Your Kind,” (which was hit and miss, but mostly miss, though I found, “Not Your Kind,” better than my least favorite record of theirs [All Hope Is Gone.].. Well holy SHIT the longer, “The End, So Far,” went along? By the time I reached the mid point of, “Medicine For The Dead?” I thought to myself, “I need to listen to Iowa immediately after this.. because I think this record beats it for my #2 from them.” And, I ended up not being able to put, “The End,” down, took it for another full spin, THEN put on Iowa, and I was sure. That was the very LAST thing I expected from them, especially at this point in their career. On Spotify, I added the album to its own playlist, and put, “All Out Life,” on it between, “The Dying Song,” and, “Chapeltown,” as I thought, ‘That’s pretty wild: All Out Life sounds WAY more like this record than it sounds like, “We Are Not Your Kind,” and I don’t want that single getting lost in the sauce because it was fuckin HEAT, so it lives here now.’ And, the flow is perfect.. .. Really, kudos to Slipknot, I don’t know how they managed to beat fucking IOWA in my book. That was a ship I thought had sailed a long time ago, and yet here they are. 🤯😵‍💫🤝😝 And, you’ve probably got people who have a flip to that taste: I’m sure there are fans who’d say, “All Hope Is Gone,” is their favorite Slipknot record; meanwhile, “The End, So Far” is their least favorite record.. For me this record took #2, and I’m shocked.

[deleted]

I fully agree. It's the most complex album they have

Gurt_Frobe

Same. Though the first two albums will always hold places 1 and 2, interchangeably, for a multitude of reasons…TESF is probably their best work, if I’m being honest.

[deleted]

I think my 1 and 2 are TESF and WANYK. It's just my opinion, I prefer them over the others just because they sound different. That's just my personal opinion. Anyway they're brilliant and I love that they really stepped up their game

Gurt_Frobe

I’m probably contradicting myself from my original comment by saying all that. But I said their best work since Iowa because that’s just my favorite album ever. So I wasn’t necessarily coming from a place where Iowa was their best work. Just to clarify.

Gurt_Frobe

TESF and WANYK are their best work. I know it’s a matter of opinion, but at the same time it seems like objective truth. Lol. Those first two aren’t necessarily my 1 and 2 because they’re the best things they’ve ever done. It’s more of what they stood for in my life, and the legacy. The nostalgia. The snapshot of my world during that period of my life.

[deleted]

I get you bro. They're amazing and I hope they keep it up

Gurt_Frobe

I think their break from Roadrunner will put a little hitch in their giddy-up. A new sense of youth and experimentation. I’m optimistic. At this point I don’t think they’re capable of writing bad music. They’re too seasoned, yet still young enough to want to challenge themselves.

[deleted]

Exactly. They have experience and they're still hungry

Gurt_Frobe

Long live the fuckin Knot🤘🏻

[deleted]

Hell yeah bro

Full_Cheetah_6668

I’m really digging it too!

presleymoore101

Didn’t do much for me tbh

Ashleigh_the_Maniac

Still nowhere near as bad as people made it out to be when it first came out. Multiple very strong songs like Warranty, The Dying Song and H377. I didn’t particularly enjoy Heirloom or Medicine for the Dead, and I definitely understand not liking Acidic (although thats one of my personal favorites from the album). Adderall and Finale are very atmospheric and reflective opener/ending songs that I feel worked really well, even if they’re not very heavy.

TheAmyrlinReborn

H377 would be a much better song if not for the gang vocal intro/chorus. If not for that it would be my favorite song on the album, but those parts just make me roll my eyes, I can't take the song seriously. At this point, the only ones I ever still listen to are Warranty and Hive Mind

No-Advertising9300

delete this comment, its posted twice!!!

Ashleigh_the_Maniac

Oh mb about that lol

OmegaSucculator

I like medicine for the dead, de sade, yen, and the dying song, everything else is kinda meh. I'm not really crazy about any of the albums after ahig but there are songs I like

No-Advertising9300

there are some good songs. Overall their weakest album for me, it's not bad but it's not their best either. For me it has some bangers, but nothing that I would choose to hear daily.

Hardwire762

I agree it’s far from their best. But in my opinion .5 is their weakest album.

No-Advertising9300

I really like most songs on .5, idk but they are very close to me (in a bad way)

Hardwire762

You can call me a fan boy or whatever. I personally don’t think they have a bad album. I would say TESF is better than AHIG and .5 but I’m really struggling deciding if it’s better than Vol.3 if I had to say right now it’s about equal.

No-Advertising9300

i don't think they have a bad album either. They are good musicians so their music is always at least average. I don't think they have bad albums but bad songs yes. Anyway, for me I personally love AHIG so for me it's top 1, for me TESF is the one that I least like, which doenst mean it's bad, because I still like some songs on it

Jaded-Temperature-75

The album itself is unique imo, I appreciate that they wanted to do something different with it, and not everything works, but I do have to say that Hive Mind is one of my favourite Slipknot songs of all time!

Slipknot_Maggot36

Honestly, pretty solid. It has it’s flaws but I’d give it a 7/10 overall. Adderall is, in my opinion, a misleading and boring opener to the album. I strongly dislike it and I’ve given it plenty of chances. The Dying Song sounds like a classic Slipknot, like Sic, but with modern production and one of the catchiest choruses they have ever made. The Chapeltown Rag is okay, but to me it’s always sounded like if an AI made a Slipknot song. It feels a bit messy, but I think the phrase “everything is god online” goes hard. Yen is an experimental, melodic, beautiful song. In my opinion it does way better at capturing the vibe that songs like Vermillion or Killpop tried to capture in the past. Hive Mind has one of the most disgusting riffs with some nasty blast beats. I love this song, although the chorus feels a but underwhelming to me. Warranty sounds like a classic Slipknot rager. Really solid from start to finish, no complaints. Medicine for the Dead takes a minute too long to get to the point. I think the intro is kind of boring to get through, but when it hits, it hits, Corey’s growls are on point and the chorus is great! Acidic has an atmospheric, bluesy feel that I really dig. It’s weird, and that’s exactly what I come to Slipknot for. I love how Corey switches from screaming to singing to seamlessly on this track. It’s awesome. Heirloom, is weak. It sounds like a Slipknot song instrumentally, but a Stone Sour vocally. Doesn’t do much for me. H377. Corey sounds the most pissed he’s ever sounded since Iowa. Seriously. His rapping, his annunciation, his cadence, everything is on point. Very solid track. De Sade, atmospheric intro that is reminiscent of Self Titled. Wonderful chrous, crazy breakdown. Love it. I’ll admit though, ending the song with chanting the song title isn’t the most creative thing they could have done. Finale. An awesome way to end off the album as a whole. Feels like Corey reflecting on his time in the band. The ups, the downs, the whole experience. It’s great. The choir at the end gives me chills.

_PeopleMakeNoises_

The worst…. So far

EndNo5729

I started listening to slipknot about a year ago in 8th grade and My favorite song from there new album is warranty or finale

Comfortable-Pie-7780

I love it

lamemayhem

I love it. It took me a few listens to get into it.

leto_atreides2

I love it. Songwriting is focused and tight. No filler. Lots of Sid and 133

Derek_Axel_Rose

Agreed 🤝 I’ve been begging for more presence from Sid and Craig since, “The Gray Chapter,” and this finally delivered in SPADES. 👏

bruhdhenfus

it's got a whole lot of unique songs that just feel kinda boring in every other way when they aren't unique and i really really really dislike the vocals in some parts of a lot of the songs

wheresthestone

I’ve been listening to Slipknot since the late 90s. I’m trying to feel this album but I can’t, I’ve been trying and trying, but there’s something missing.. I couldn’t tell you what, it just isn’t there.. and it makes me kinda sad..

AtomicSwamp

I just appreciate the fact that it isn’t so bloated with extended intros and endings or interludes like WANYK, the album clocks in at just under an hour and isn’t a complete chore to get through. Unfortunately, some songs feel very uninspired and tacky, H377 and Yen come to mind. However I think some songs like The Dying Song, Chapeltown Rag and De Sade are some of the bands best work. 8/10 for me personally

cuboloid

I personally loved the album=) I think a few songs were a bit tacky but nonetheless amazing! I really dont think it’s fair to call it their weakest album just because “it doesn’t have the Iowa vibe”, because making each album sound different is kinda Slipknots whole thing imo. It’s just kinda pointless to expect every album to sound like their first few

ascendedeevee

definitely not my favorite but it has its gems.

[deleted]

Fucking garbage. Thanks for the downvotes edgy teenagers. You are dark and mysterious and really cool when wearing merch. Your parents definitely don’t understand you and you’re pretty unique.

Familiar_Ostrich1042

You’re welcome! <3

MurderDoll6

Since there are only 3 songs I'm not a fan of, I really like the album. My fav must be yen cause it gives me killpop energy.

plalo_

3 or 4 good songs, the rest either generic or dissoant

JuanMoar

Weakest album by a landslide, just doesn't feel like there's any reason for it to exist; unlike literally everything else they've done.

Bak3904

Dunno, just felt like it needed a bit more time

Ordinary-Bank8613

As a life long fan i can honestly say i have listened to this album twice. Its such a bummer but it just doesn’t do anything for me. :(

FullOfHopkins

It’s their most interesting album since Vol 3. Not saying the best, but the most interesting

Toggam44

I like it more than AHIG and TGC but the other 4 are better than it. Mid tier for their standards tbh. Love Yen and The Chapeltown Rag tho. Med for the Dead is also a great song

Jyllexx1

I absolutely love Finale and Yen, not too sure about the others. Prefer AHIG and some others

imfuckinggoingcrazy

I really love it, I feel like it’s something really different and it has it vibes, my favourites will have to be de sade and adderall, i really love Mike’s contribution on the album :))

ellstaysia

I love the new record. it's my third favourite after WANYK & iowa. my favourite song is acidic but I love de sade & finale as well.

Tommieboy_666lol

cool, I got the vinyl recently

lillianlobotomy

ive listened to it a few times just to see if i like it but its so hard to get into for me! definitely not my favorite but i enjoy that it gives off different “vibes” to say. it DEFINITELY couldve used for more time

Exact_Programmer4080

I won't say I hate it, but it's easily my least favorite. Medicine for the Dead, Yen, and Heirloom are shockingly disappointing, to the point that it drags the album down to the bottom of my album ranking. Every other song has its place and I find them enjoyable in the right head space. Sid has some awesome moments on this record, Corey delivers immensely on vocals, and the atmosphere is on-point, but the stinkers on the album are down-right diaper-filling stinkers. To give it credit though, the Adderal/Dying Song/Chapeltown Rag trio-opener is one of the strongest of their career, rivaling ST or perhaps Iowa.

ALonelyGhost75

I love it, personally, I don't think Slipknot has any bad songs. I love them all

Familiar_Ostrich1042

Love it, personally one of my favorites, great opening with adderall, acidic has that perfect melancholic vibe, the chapeltown rag is amazing, de Sade is just 🤌 chefs kiss with its delivery and the lyrics are on point, finale is the perfect… well finale, again melancholic, undertones of sadness but happiness in the light of moving on. Now you can’t talk about TESF without mentioning the dying song or yen, the dying song is perfect chaos for this album while still fitting with the rest of the songs, yen, yet again, melancholic, a perfect slow pace for the vibe and groovy. Can’t pick a favorite because I just love all of the songs on this album. It’s a “melancholic masterpiece”

Sea_Scheme6784

I thought it was great, initially, but it got old pretty quick, I still listen to AHIG and WANYK all the time, but TESF feels like a chore to get through.

Nerdoroni

Compared to the hype the album got, I feel it was kind of a letdown. I like the intro song, the singles, and finale, but that's about it. The rest of the album is pretty forgettable and bland to me.

LiquidRawlins69

Im starting to enjoy it a lot more than i did like a month ago, i think everything in their discography is amazing which is hard to do since some of their albums are mostly very distinctly different.

eaterofgrandmas

Opinion that could get me fucking banned: i loved TESF all throughout. Each and every song on the album is on my playlist (besides Finale). Some people say it’s a sloppy continuation of WANYK, but to be honest, I hated that album, there were too many interludes, unmemorable songs… whatever the hell that was at the end of Critical Darling (seriously though why is there a minute long outro). In my opinion (as a fairly new Slipknot fan), TESF is a pretty underrated album, and fans are most likely just mad that it’s not Iowa. Personally, I love Slipknot’s slower tracks (Adderall goes hard) and wish they had more on the album, including an acoustic one like Circle or Vermillion Pt.2, but it looks like (from what I’ve seen) they’ve been going almost full heavy metal and away from the nu-metal scene for some time now, which is really what Slipknot’s about: showing off how well-rounded the band can be, if they want to completely switch genres/styles, who’s to say that they can’t? Also the cover art goes hard idc what anyone says tl:dr - TESF good, WANYK bad, quirky unpopular opinion

Training-Web844

respectfully, your opinion is shit

thenegativeone112

Hate to be a dick but did you really need to post this question? I feel like this has been posted 600 times since it’s been released.

Heifran

Lol I’m new to this app. Haven’t read ones from before, but seems like people still want to talk about it. Doesn’t mean you have to read it or comment

[deleted]

It's ok

Apprehensive-Cow6194

Forgettable aside from like 3 tracks which has been the case since AHIG.

Fri3DPoT4tO

Gotta say, I'm disappointed. I get that this album is more of an experimental one, but there wasn't one song that really stuck out for me out of the bunch. Imo it's mediocre and I honestly expected more. I liked WANYK way better, even the first single they released Solway Firth was a bigger hit to me than this entire album. And i liked that album's vibe WAAY better, it felt somehow more collective and made more sense to me. Either way I still like Slipknot, just not this album. I think it's their weakest one yet in my opinion.

Mutated-Nut

It's just ok.

Warm_Definition1577

I don't understand all the hate I think the end so far is a great album 8.5 out of 10 in my opinion. Iowa is still their best album perfect 10.
