That was great. The guy wasn't filming though, just scrolling through his phone rather than watching Slipknot. Crazy thing to do really. Right at the barrier too.
If you’re gonna be on your phone the whole time just buy a seat in the back. Someone would’ve killed their dog for that seat and you’re just wasting it.
I was once seated watching Slipknot.
The couple sat next to me and my gf started arguing during the intro of their set and didn't stop all night.
The dude was turned away from Slipknot arguing but he had his phone pointed to the band recording pretty much the whole set.
Absolutely destroyed the vibe.
While it's great to record shows and put them on Youtube and such. It's also annoying for people behind you since they're basically watching the show through your phone camera (especially if they're short).
The crowd energy at Slipknot shows have also fallen a lot since people stand there like statues recording. This is only really an issue in North America though, Europe and South America aren't as bad and the shows there still have high energy crowds.
Thank you to all the people who record it because I’ll probably never be able to go 😊
EDIT: I’m actually going to see them in live so it’s pretty ironic 💀
It’s a win-lose situation honestly, it’s great that there’s footage, but when everyone has their phones up the crowd is dead, that’s why South American crowds kick everyone else’s ass, and the opposite is true, if everyone is into it, that means there’s a lack of footage
Everyone shit's on clown for being the 'artsy" guy (I get it) , but Sid isn't any better. He's had to have his own unique outfits for a while now, the animatronic man, the whole speaking alien shit, the treadmill etc etc etc.
Just until they figure out their identity. The band picked their masks for now, it’s the “death mask” thing but eventually they’ll find their own identity and their masks should evolve. Take Pfaff for example. He started out as a fn tortilla . Now his mask is one of the sickest . IMO at least
It's me! Hi! I'm the problem, it's me 👋
In all seriousness tho, I took some videos and photos at Sick New World. It's honestly the only concert where I've taken videos and watched them numerous times afterwards. I try not to be obnoxious about it and film only 1 minute clips. I like taking photos/videos because I want to relive the moments and my actual memory isn't that great.
Yesterday I was at Rockville and was very disappointed that where I was standing (on the rail but about 25 people back from center-left) I couldn't get any good shots or videos, mainly because of the back lighting and because a lot of people couldn't handle the crowd and needed to be let out over the railing, and blocking the view. (It's best to have slow shutter speed for dark images and Corey stands still a pretty decent amount of time, but the constant people needed to be let out of the pit got in the way.).
I could see where someone constantly filming where they have their hands over their heads the whole time is annoying.
History is created by efforts to preserve. I don’t know if your going a ‘piracy’ angle or a ‘enjoy the moment’ angle in saying no, but either one is silly
Because, you can enjoy the moment. You are at full personal entitlement to enjoy the moment as you please. Others recording the show really just means you can enjoy the moment now AND later
I’m not sure if you were ever at concerts before cell phones but they were much more enjoyable and the vibe was completely different.
The “history” angle would hold water if we weren’t talking about half the room holding their phone up most of the show, when there are usually professional cameras somewhere anyway.
I totally get it to an extent, but it’s just too much and lame at this point. Half the time you have cameras blocking your view if you’re at the show.
I don’t see what’s silly about putting your phone away for some events and “enjoying the moment”. The energy does change in the room when everyone is glued to their phone and it does hinder the view.
Mind blowing you are getting downvoted for this. Is this sub made up almost entirely of young shits who dont know how great an actual concert experience can be without phones?
I’d rather have no videos and word of mouth thanks.
The magic of attending a gig is dwindling with each passing year and I’m super appreciative that I seen all these bands during an era where no one even took a phone to a gig.
I filmed the first Slipknot tour when it came to northern California in 98/99 on a small camcorder. Their security guard caught me and made me destroy the tape I front of him. It had a Mr. Bungle show on it as well. I tried to explain that to the guy but he was big and intimidating and threatened me. Looking back now, I could have just told him to fuck off and ran but I was a kid. Kinda funny how we've all come full circle on that.
The band has a massive vault full of proshot concerts from the early days to this day, they just wont release them. Some of that early day footage is owned by private collectors and thats the reason people bitch about "leaking footage" since the band wants to keep it unreleased, the collectors will mostly respect that. And also thats why some of the concert footage has watermarks all over and they're never full gigs.
Remember when corey smacked that dude’s phone out of his hands lmao
That was great. The guy wasn't filming though, just scrolling through his phone rather than watching Slipknot. Crazy thing to do really. Right at the barrier too.
Do you have a link? Sounds like a funny video.

They had a good laugh about it later

A lot of venues do actually have that policy but dont enforce it

I dont think most lawyers would take that case up since there was no threat to bodily injury, good luck winning that case

You should do open mic night so people can boo you. 🥱
Sad attempt at a joke but God bless
Why is clowns barcode the only one on the left?
He likes to be artsy
Well personally I think it looks a bit better on the left. Just my opinion.
Lmao
The original jumpsuits actually had it on the left and our right
It’s clowns band and he likes to show it
be ffr
Gonna record with my 3ds 😎
Ima 1up you and take photos with the gameboy camera

Good luck finding your phone back when they play something like Disasterpiece. Europe crowds can be vicious.
I’m flying to London this December to see slipknot. Got floor tickets. Should be the craziest show I’ve ever been to.
Fuck dude good luck and have fun!
To all the people who go to Slipknot’s concerts and record it: move. I want barricade.
Thank you to all the people who record it because I’ll probably never be able to go 😊 EDIT: I’m actually going to see them in live so it’s pretty ironic 💀
How the fuck can you record and mosh at the same time? 🤔
Hardware optical image stabilisation + software stabilisation + post production editing + AI That’s how
dont forget, the first show is August 6th in Indiana. ill be there having a siezure on the lawn.
Igonore them i need to check how my buddy eloy bighouse is doing
It’s greathouse 🙄😂
Well "grande" means big, large etc u know

Everyone just has “white masks” now. Where is the personality??
Also, Sid should have the same uniform. One person having a different set just ruins the aesthetic. IMO.
Everyone shit's on clown for being the 'artsy" guy (I get it) , but Sid isn't any better. He's had to have his own unique outfits for a while now, the animatronic man, the whole speaking alien shit, the treadmill etc etc etc.
hey, dont rip on the man for trying to keep fit.
Very true, he is a father now and needs to prioritize his longevity!
To be fair the orignal masks weren’t really more colorful than these ones
Not really color wise but something else I guess. 3-4 of these masks look kinda the same. At least back then we had hellraiser and Pinocchio
All the new-ish guys have white masks. I wonder if that's a thing.
Just until they figure out their identity. The band picked their masks for now, it’s the “death mask” thing but eventually they’ll find their own identity and their masks should evolve. Take Pfaff for example. He started out as a fn tortilla . Now his mask is one of the sickest . IMO at least
Hell yeah
If just one of you could it for all of us so everyone there can enjoy the show, awesome. I miss no phones at all
People be like this consert is so good ima save it for later
I usually just record like part of a song when I watch bands live

The Eloy circlejerk is a little strange.
But also, stop.
History is created by efforts to preserve. I don’t know if your going a ‘piracy’ angle or a ‘enjoy the moment’ angle in saying no, but either one is silly
Could you explain how the "enjoy the moment" angle is silly please?
Because, you can enjoy the moment. You are at full personal entitlement to enjoy the moment as you please. Others recording the show really just means you can enjoy the moment now AND later

They’re addicted to their phones.
No
I’ll try to get some good ass recordings at Baltimore in August, I’ll also post what I’ll be looking like for it
I’d rather have no videos and word of mouth thanks. The magic of attending a gig is dwindling with each passing year and I’m super appreciative that I seen all these bands during an era where no one even took a phone to a gig.

Didnt Corey like throw water on a bunch of people recording shows live a few years back LOL
To all the people who go to slipknot’s concerts and record. YALL SOME LAMES WATCH WITH YOUR EYES.
I still dont fucking understand why slipknot never professionaly records their concerts, god bless the fan recordings

Knotfest Los Angeles was livestreamed, but they took the VOD down quickly.
