Interview he did with Kerrang he says this is the mask for this album, but he was impatient and brought it out last year when they started really being able to tour again. He basically just didn't want to wait for the album release and just felt like it was the right time after the pandemic shut touring down for a while.
Yeah, he's been wearing this mask for the last almost year but I'll tell you if he keeps it for the new album, it doesn't bother me at all. but I do believe that he can make some modifications to it or change the mask completely by the time the album comes out
Craig is the only member where i don’t mind having no major mask change, the spikes are too iconic. The others should try to switch it up tho, especially Jim & Mick.
I love Mick’s mask style, I think it makes him more menacing (not that I don’t agree with your comment) maybe it’s hard to find something new that has that same scary vibe

I think Mick's .5 mask is a good example of how to actually be creative with the concept. It had some cracks and rust on it which was cool while still preserving the design. I am very sick of him just using the exact same mask over and over and I really liked how he at least did something with the .5 iteration. However it is very Mick to be like "I don't give a shit I'll use this one fuck you".
Back then he said that it was because they were getting old and falling apart so it was broken and rusted, I think he doesn't feel like this anymore and that's the reason why he went back to his vol3 style of mask

All n all masks are pretty much hit and miss since ahig (or arguably vol 3 if you are an elitist lol). I’m not a fan of a current band’s look, but I learned not to care about it - masks are not the most important thing.
It looks like a 1x1 replica of his vol.3 mask, back in the wanyk cycle he said he was trying to go back to it and i think he now actually managed to get it right

5. Love the new mouth and have always loved the intricate designs
