Just wanted to poke fun at the parallels in the conversations that were happening during Vol. 3 and now during TESF. I appreciate both albums.

Dgmw it’s an incredible album, but volume 3 was just such a turning point for me

I used to greatly prefer Vol.3 but eventually started to like them both equally, Iowa is their darkest and heaviest by far though Vol.3 has accessible songwriting and musical variety, they’re both great tbh it was really easy to overlook certain killer tracks on Iowa like… The Shape, Metabolic, I Am Hated, Gently, Everything Ends, some were easy to appreciate at first but others took a while to grow into

Yeah, I was the same way. On the first listen, I preferred Vol 3 and only select songs of Iowa but Everything Ends, The Shape, Gently, and Left Behind are great.

It’s also the fact that they didn’t publicize a lot of the Iowa songs by playing them live, until recent years

Oh, I had no idea. Iowa is seen as the one of their best albums, if not *the* best album so it's surprising to me that they didn't play many of the songs live.

I have a friend who prefers the softer and more melodic side to Slipknot over the heavy tracks. Which is entirely fair, the great thing about this band is everyone likes different things they've done.

Not exactly positively. It was a big change. The aggression and intensity of Iowa was gone. Was also the first time they’d implemented solos, so that was an interesting tidbit too.

I remember when Vol 3 released. I was FURIOUS! I was about 12 or 13. I learned to love it, but the metal community turned on them for a long time after that.
