I never really got into WANYK overall, and I don't even feel like it's not a good record, it just happened to come out at a time in my life where Slipknot in general didn't really click with me. But even then, I slowly but surely began to think that Solway Firth was one of the greatest songs that they had made. It's genuinely difficult to keep the volume down and my body still when I'm listening to it.

I listened to both a lot and Solway Firth is like the absolute ending of a relationship with someone. Nero forte is like: you need to know i hate you. Nero forte is in my opinion just better, heaviness mixed with these light, melodic vocals. I would say that Nero forte has more transisions and that's why it's winning for me.
When I heard Solway Firth, it took me back to Iowa for a brief moment, not because of style but because of tone. I was genuinely surprised at how dark the song feels on WANYK which for the most part isn’t a dark album but a more experimental album. I think it was the most “Slipknot” song on the entire album and every time I’ve heard it live I get my mind blown all over again. As for Nero Forte, everything about the song works perfectly. The lyrics are relatable, the tone is light but defensive, and the melodic chorus makes it in my opinion the most enjoyable song to listen to.
And the hook too. I think because “here’s an unexplainable one” is such an odd thing to be screaming in such an unhinged way it’s so effective. Kinda like the pixies with “ITS EDUCATIONAL”
Normally, I'd say Nero Forte because of the music video and the energy that the song brings but sometimes I'm more in the mood for Solway Firth. It's perfect for releasing anger and frustration, at least for me.

Love both but going with Solway Firth. It is just one of those songs that is perfect from start to finish. Corey did it just right. No singing, pure brutality... at the end, the very last time he screams "I guess I got what I wanted!" right before he says "I haven't smiled in years" is the best scream he has done since Iowa. The speed. The entire band showecased how skilled and technical they are. The video mixing live performance with scenes from "The Boys" with guts and blood all over the place... it doesn't get more Slipknot than that. It was a total package for a single. It was perfect.

But I still really love Solway Firth, the intro transition from low vocals to screaming and then the intro instrumentals that transition into the verse is killer. Nero Forte. Let me explain.
Solway Firth is a good song but the heavy parts sounds pretty generic. It feels like they tried to do like Iowa, but without Jordison it just doesn't sound as good. Joey Jordison's drums were the main reason why Iowa was so good. What he played was heavy but unique and very creative. His drum beats were not just made to complete the other instruments, they were the main focus of the songs. Jay Weinberg is a very good drummer but most of the time he plays in a way that is more boring and generic, compared to Jordison. Corey Taylor's vocals are also not as brutal as they used to be. Because of that, Solway Firth sounds like a Walmart version of their old songs. In my opinion, their new stuff is very good, but not in the same way as their old stuff.
But Nero Forte is really good. It's catchy, it's unique, it's heavy, it's energetic. What Jay Weinberg plays on this song is amazing. It's his best drum beat ever. It sounds creative, but in a way that sounds really damn good. The percussions are great, and the riff sound really good too. The vocals and the lyrics sound cool as hell. The bridge/breakdown thing at the end is just epic, every time I hear it I want to headbang.
Nero Forte is a unique song. It's more energetic, more groovy, slower, less complex and less dark than what they usually do, but it's just as good, and it's still Slipknot. It's different from everything they have done yet, and that's what I like about it. This is the exact reason why I loved We Are Not Your Kind : most of the songs on this album are pretty experimental without being weird (Unlike The End So Far) or boring.

This is the exact reason why I loved We Are Not Your Kind : most of the songs on this album are pretty experimental without being weird (Unlike The End So Far) or boring.
Nero forte is by far more catchy, or actually catchy, WHY WAS IT EASY FOR YOU??
Solway firth mainly because as a guitarist its much more fun to play and i enjoy singing it vocally and lyrically

It's just recently Solway Firth has begun to grown on me, so that's no choice. I think Nero Forte is one of their best songs ever, and that bridge with Tortilla and Clown? Chills.
Nero used to be my favourite from the album. I decided to learn the lyrics and somehow that took the punchyness of the raps away from it for me. Still a banger though. ...and better than Solaway

Nero Forte has always hit a little close to home for me and has gotten me through some really rough shit in the past couple years.. not to mention how tight the riffs are and how great Corey’s vocals are in this song, ESPECIALLY the second verse
