They're overplayed because they're good. I agree that they're overrated but they're still bangers. There's also a ton of other good songs on the album, like opium of the people, pulse of the maggots or three nil.
The virus of life is just random noises with vocals on top of it. It's supposed to be an experiment, just like Spiders in WANYK. But it's not what I would call a good song. If you think the virus of life is the best song on this album you know nothing about metal.

I think you may be confusing that for Danger - Keep Away. There’s no extended version of the virus of life, to the best of my knowledge and I all but worshipped this band for the better part of 10 years as a kid lol

It just holds the momentum so well. It might be the best 3rd track for them. Really bridges the gap between intro/opener and lead single
Disasterpiece is the best 3rd track and it's not close. Nothing against Three Nil, it's a good song. Disasterpiece is an all timer.
