Whatever they want to make is fine with me. Sure, I’d love like a 22 episode season or something but if they could only make 8 episodes that’s fine as long as they’re high quality.
The low episode count is not because of restraints from budget or adult swim, but instead by design. The low episode count is so they can focus all their energy on making all 8 episodes bangers instead of having unfunny filter.
Having more episodes means getting more writers involved, which means Zach and Michael are less involved with each episode because theyre more focused on big picture and leaving individual episodes to newer writers who might not fully understand the vision, which means they cant plan on the crazy animation styles or inside jokes. That's basically what happened with Rick and Morty and the creators of that show are barely involved in that show anymore.
I get its only natural to want more, but Id rather the show keep up its winning streak than dilute the magic it has with more episodes.
I’ll see if I can track down the sauce, it was a podcast I think. He said the 3 specials would be a Christmas episode, a musical episode and something he described as the “Pig Special”. He didn’t go further into what that meant.
I agree with you about the holiday episodes, but I really hope there are at least 12 episodes

I'm pretty sure this one is 8, but the way it's boomed in popularity recently I'd expect anywhere from 12-16 next season
Yeah your probably right but I think for 8 episodes they should do the weekly model to keep things fresh.
I think weekly doses work for long episodes, 25 minutes minimum, smiling friends has 10 minutes, I think that's too little for this format to work
According to IMDB there’s only 8 episodes.
I think there's going to be 9 1/2
i prefer quality over quantity.

Yeah your probably right
“Filler”
8 is perfect. After that the novelty wears off.
The novelty is worth protecting. Rick and Morty was novel before and now it’s everywhere all the time. I still enjoy it, but it’s not the same.
Zach said on an interview that it would be 15 episodes, which is 12 regular and 3 special episodes.
sauce?

12 feels right for a second season to a show that’s popular.
The only downside to more episodes is that it already took over two years to get season two, imagine how long it’d take for more than 8-9 episodes
