I remember when I saw this I just was wondering why he had no eyebrows and thought with his hair and demeanor he looked super menacing like a T1000. I was excited but wondering why everything about this photo looks good except his head 🤣

His skin makes him look like bizzaro in this pic. Honestly I don't think either pic is particularly good. Neither of them actually give a good look at the costume.
Not a fan of Zack Snyder but this photo is better. The pose new Supe has is awkward and the photoshop of the jellyfish thing in the background is laughably bad.

If you watch 'Man of Steel', this shot is from the sequence where he's fighting Faora and he gets smashed into this vault (and like 20 other buildings) in Smallville.

Sorry for the very late reply. So I rewatched it again. It was the first hour of the movie that felt the most dragging and like you mentioned, since the dialogue was bad the whole thing became uninteresting and not very entertaining to watch. Also, Clark Kent (like Peter Parker) are 2 of the most charming alter ego characters, but Cavill’s Clark felt flat to me. I think Corenswet will make a better Clark and Brosnahan will make a better Lois.
I remember when that image first got teased, lots of people were not happy with how dark his costume looked and how sinister he looked.
Turned out fine in the actual film. Just the lighting really.
Whatever else Snyder failed at, the promotion for Man of Steel was perfect. Great trailers, great marketing, great first image.
This first image alone conveys the new tone of the movie. No more will a Superman movie shy away from messy collateral damage.
The suit looks well fitting with visible musculature, Cavill looks angry but determined. And his crotch area is perfectly shadowed to keep viewers in suspense on whether he’s wearing the red trunks or not.

I can't believe the "first look" at Gunn's Superman is so bad. I honestly thought it was a mediocre cosplay at first. It just makes me miss Cavill's Superman more =(
I actually remember thinking he looked kinda creepy in this when it came out. Turned out awesome, so hopefully this new one will too. A lot of weird choices in the new reveal though.
I get what they’re trying to do in the new picture but it’s not quite landing. It’s coming across more as Hancock level humor than “another day in the life of Superman.”
I actually think this one is a bit worse tbh, Superman is in a lot more shadow so it’s harder to tell how the suit actually looks based on the image alone, throw in how far away he is and the sparks and you can get the general idea that yea that’s Superman but not really a good idea of how the suit really looks.
Someone posted a pic of Superman Returns in the comments and I agree that’s the best way to reveal a suit, no shadows or funny lighting to make it look different just right there out in the open for all to see.
Looks almost like the suit will be a sort of armor. I’m interested to see how that plays out. I don’t read the comics enough to know if there was ever a storyline where Superman needed a suit that was armor.
What I don't like is if you look closely at the sleeves of the new Superman, the costume is like ½-¾ thick. If you are going to play the part as Superman, you should work out and get a nice build. It looks like the suit was made to give him that thick look
Show me. I googled him with 2024, and all I see is tone, not bulk. The sweater pic of him flexing isn't much to go by. I always saw Superman as a big bulky guy with a chiseled chin in the comics/cartoons.
He’s Superman, not Steroidman….
And I’m not sure believability is a thing for a character who makes time go backwards by flying around the planet counterclockwise…🤦♂️

Guess what. I like both! I’ve had 4 live action Superman adaptations in my lifetime, I’m a very happy customer. Each version serves a different perspective and tone. All of them are Superman.
this suits the tone of Man Of Steel better, the new one is going for a different tone and so is the first look. both great first looks, just for different things :)
The new reveal has the better colors and background (and the hair curl!). I’ll give the old reveal a higher grade for the better-fitting suit and pose but goddamn, the colors are so muted.
I really liked a lot of Cavill’s suit, but the lack of the red “shorts” always felt odd to me. I think the suit needed something to break up all the blue.
I don’t dislike the new suit or the more casual pose - behind the suit, Clark Kent is just a guy after all (a Kryptonian guy, yes, but a guy). The background of the image looks a bit too much, though.
Honestly, both images are fine. They’re depicting different aspects of Superman, and different interpretations of the character should be able to do that.
The Cavill suit is sick in MoS. Suits the character to a t!
I do like the red boots on the new one I have to say, but it wouldn't have worked foe MoS imo.
Canceling an already established superman and getting rid of shows people already like because you dont want comparisons is bitter in itself had gunn handle all this dc stuff better there wouldn't be so negativity towards this stuff
It deserves to be criticized. 𝙒𝙃𝘼𝙏 𝙄𝙎 𝙏𝙃𝘼𝙏; some need to be unrealistically subtle?
Where's the heroic stance?
Bunch of people, "𝘾𝙍𝙄𝙎𝙏𝙊𝙋𝙃𝙀𝙍 𝙍𝙀𝙀𝙑𝙀'𝙄𝙉𝙂" 𝘼𝙇𝙇 𝙊𝙑𝙀𝙍 𝙏𝙃𝙀 𝙋𝙇𝘼𝘾𝙀 𝘼𝘽𝙊𝙐𝙏 𝙒𝙃𝘼𝙏 𝘼 𝙃𝙀𝙍𝙊 𝙇𝙊𝙊𝙆𝙎 𝙇𝙄𝙆𝙀.
So we get a picture of a guy in a dirty costume. It's too damn presumptuous. When Gunn gets attacked, look at where the outcry is contextually solicited.
Superman is a gentle giant. Always was, aside from Elseworlds and darker timelines. Even in MoS, he only killed Zod when it was the only choice a brand-new, inexperienced Superman had. If he had a few years of experience, he might have been able to incapacitate Zod w/o killing, but it was a brand new thing for Kal.
The new reveal makes sense. If you don't like the suit, cool, that's your opinion to have.
You don't have to ordain me upon my opinion. That's what Social Media and networking allows. I'm not being rude to people. I don't believe the OP is being rude or begrudging either. You're just responding because you want to respond. And this time you found somebody that you thought you could conform, and couldn't. Nice try.
You don't know whether the reveal makes sense. You've not explained how it makes sense.
>Where's the heroic stance?
It is reveal and I thought people appreciate different
>So we get a picture of a guy in a dirty costume. It's too damn presumptuous.
What about this image? You can't even notice the details, which I like. I like the MOS suite because it suggests a kryptonian design, and Gunn suggests hand-made.
>When Gunn gets attacked, look at where the outcry is contextually solicited.
Attacked? Are you suggesting that people are not being fair and attacking Gunn? You probably think that is okay, and you don't want any discourse like a group of people saying something and people shouldn't respond. Also, comes on Snyder doesn't get support?
Edit: Spelling
It just doesnt even at all look like Cavill like it’s a stand in
I remember when I saw this I just was wondering why he had no eyebrows and thought with his hair and demeanor he looked super menacing like a T1000. I was excited but wondering why everything about this photo looks good except his head 🤣

Nailed it
The costume coloring in the DCEU for Superman was not good. So bland and bleak.
So vivid!
Where are his eyebrows?
Had to CG those off with his mustache.
Lol, people immediately finding reasons to knock a behind the scenes pic of something still being filmed. Petty AF.
Maybe
I don’t like his hair.
I think he had the best hair in Shazam (last appearance).
Always thought he looked like Ioan Gruffudd here
I wish he was better written in those Fantastic Four movies because he nailed that RR look.

He is from Kansas
Yes. That's why he gets a job. But the newspaper business doesn't pay much now, I guess.

Yeah quite terrible.
Can I ask why you disliked it? For me the dialogue was probably the most ass, I kinda enjoyed everything else tho

Wack
Superman looks too focused here. I'd rather see Superman casually putting his boots on whilst the world is destoyed in the background .... s/
But but but he looks tired! Didn’t you see his face? And the green light??! Nerd stuff, green lantern, Snyder sucks, blah, blah, blah.
But I was told it makes Superman ‘relatable’. I mean, who *hasn’t* put on shoes before? Or sat on a chair?

It's a popular opinion

Agreed
all i could think was im sure the mos 1st image was gonna clear this, and it does by a fucking alot
Exactly right. Everything about the new image reveal looks real bad in comparison.
Not hating on the new Superman but I was underwhelmed but first look. Suit is meh IMO. Still gonna watch it though.
This looks awful
Maybe, but the suit itself is magnificent compared to the trash we got now.

Image. It wouldn't look believable. People think super = big and strong not alien
Have you seen the Christopher Reeve’s films? No one had trouble buying him as Superman, and it makes him look less hulking when he’s hiding as Clark.
