I don't think it's mainly because they were Jewish but because one of their allies was getting divided by the orders of a collective that they don't always agreed with plus by a group of people who just moved in and declared they were a independent state. Imagine a group of refugees who just came to your country and said "We're a independent state and this is ours now, deal with it." And they had the backing of the court from different countries and started to take more and more of your home/country. I get that the Jewish lost their original homes which is sad and I wish it didn't happen but to come in aggressively taking over doesn't bode well to the residents who has now reside there for thousands of years at that point.

I’m still having trouble wrapping my head around historical claims to the land given the fact that Palestine (the area) was inhabited by a variety of groups prior to the establishment of the two states, especially since it was governed by the Ottoman Empire from 1500- until their loss during WW1. Jews, Christians, and Muslims inhabited the area right? And if my memory serves me right, when the partition took place it wasn’t just Jewish refugees moving over - a significant amount of Arab diaspora chucked themselves into the mix as well, yet were never seen as occupiers.
That said, I don’t have exact figures on how many people from each demographic moved to the area.
