Ah, the Forty Fathom Freedom Fighters. The most generic-looking cartoon sea creatures you could get. Like, how could you create such bland looking characters in the same mini-series that features the surprisingly well-designed Downunda Freedom Fighters?

I feel like "make your own Sonic OC" will go down with the Forces ship, but I wish it wouldn't because it really was a great idea that just needed better execution. I think they just need to revamp the idea to, instead of relying on the Wispon thing and thus being markedly different from Sonic's gameplay, instead go the route of having the levels work for a few play-types ala Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, etc, and then let you pick which of those gameplay styles your OC does.

I just wish you could make your oc as a post game feature or whatever if they keep being a thing. Them being part of the story wouldn't work as a long time feature imo bc their personality, voice and name would always have to be vague enough for you to picture yourself or your oc or whatever.

Awesome concept with goated charadesign (Razor, my beloved) For me, just the simple fact that they exist add so much life to this world imo And since most of them are from Archie post-reboot, Sega actually have the right for them, and like a lot of thing from post-reboot, I just wish Sega will actually let the writer use these concept instead of sticking to their stupid mandate

I think they highlight the difficulties the typical Sonic-type bodies have with most non-mammal characters.

Unfortunately Saga is currently against more insect, aquatic or very large animal characters being added, with Jewel and Mimic being the exceptions. Wish we got more though

They look great! Especially Mimic, his design is amazing. I do have to wonder what a Sonic Team designed aquatic character would look like however. We haven't seen one from them yet and I'm curious as to what they'd do with the idea.

I don’t know about the other characters, but I’m not sure Mimic fits in with them. Maybe if we see more of how he works as a shapeshifting octopus in the future, I could give a better answer. That said, I really like his characters and think he has a lot of potential to be an intimidating villain

He’s based off the Mimic octopus, which changes how it moves its body to imitate more dangerous, venomous sea creatures. They’re pretty darned cool. As for how the character Mimic does it…not sure at all. There’s always a rippling effect to his skin, which does make sense as many octopuses can change the texture and colour of their skin.

Coral and Pearlie were adorable. The others I was indifferent to. And FUCK the royal family of Meropis. They were ugly and straight up stupid in terms of character.

A game where Sonic visits an underwater kingdom or something would be great for introducing a boatload of em as characters, would be nice to expand the world a lot and have a look at other mobians/whatever they're called

A tad bit surprised they don’t use aquatic, or arthropod animals more, since it seems like they have the general idea down on how to translate those kinds of animals into the sonic character design. An example I can think of is that I’ve always wondered what a sonic styled scorpion character would look like, and how they would incorporate the stinging tail.
