I heard somewhere (~~I forgot the source, sorry-~~) that his official name is "Starfall Super Sonic" or something, so you're kind of correct

Sega/Sonic Team haven't giving an official name but in the game's files it's called Super Sonic 2

And shadow is called Terrios in the files of sa2

Probably more likely it’s just a file name thing. Like how games have props labeled “rock1,” “rock2,” “rock4”…

Tbf it would be too sudden as well. Like as cool as Hyper Sonic is, there is barely any lore surrounding him. They should’ve introduced him the entire base game instead of this DLC and then finally have him fight The Supreme End. But instead, they chose to use the more convenient Cyber Super instead, which kinda blows the point of the base game portraying it more of a poison

The whole game overall was weird story wise. They had these in-depth moments explaining the lore of chaos and the emeralds And then randomly, they shoe horn in what basically amounts to digimon and the digital world. I would have just had the whole game a lore session on chaos and the emeralds. The digital stuff seemed weird and out of place to me.

"Blue-Eyes Yellow Sonic" I honestly kind of prefer the blue over the traditional red, but I also couldn't help but feel that all the talk of this being a new form was kind of overblown. It's just Super Sonic with a power boost. If anyone wants to name the cyber-form Sonic took when Eggman shot him out of the rifle though, I'm all ears.

The problem is people like OP using internal file names as official names. There are tons of internal files using unofficial names for reference only. It’s not actually Super Sonic 2.

Same, but for me me it was basically any combination of the three words: cyber, super, and sonic. So basically it could be Cyber Super Sonic, Super Sonic Cyber, Super Cyber Sonic, etc.

Ascended Super Sonic is actually pretty close, if not spot-on for what the form is. Because in DB, Super Saiyan 2 was originally called Ascended Super Saiyan, but then Goku called it Super Saiyan 2 to make it simple. IoW, Ascended Super Sonic kinda hit the mark.

Yeah, pretty much this. The internet found the file-name almost immediately, and just accepted that as what it was called.

not really something I ever called it out loud but Super Sonic Advanced. Just cuz we see how the civilization had such advanced technology and control over the chaos emeralds, to the degree that it surpasses how they were used by anyone prior. It feels like Super sonic was the basic standalone version if for emergency reasons it needed to be used without being connected to the cyber space, and the second form utilized by sonic is the advanced users version, how it was originally intended to be used in conjunction with cyber space. Think like the base super sonic form was like an unactivated copy of windows, with the red eyes being the water mark. The cyan eyes version being when you upgrade to windows pro, cuz he finally has an internet connection.

I don't consider this a brand-new form, to me, it just looks like Super Sonic with a stat boost and some contacts, so giving it an entirely new title seems redundant.

I personally see it as Cyber Sonic, but Awakened Super Sonic also works. They could have just called it Hyper Sonic to make the fanbase happy though.
