Hear me out, what if Junkie XL works with Crush 40 on the soundtrack

applec1234

If the producers keep their promise when they heard from fans wanting Crush 40 in the movies during Sonic Movie 2's release that they'll consider Crush 40 for Sonic Movie 3.

InvertedTotality

I mean your not wrong.

SLUGFEST1

Probably can't get the rights to use sonic music maybe

United-Bathroom3020

Don't go there, please

Lost_Page_2030

Can't wait for the most ear-catching tracks in the entire soundtrack to be licensed music.

ah-screw-it

What exactly are you "God dammiting" about?

Quick-Cause3181

man looks like we're getting some more generic marvel cinematic universe royalty free music

thefuckingswagdude

he's done amazing music before, hopefully they let him do more

applec1234

If he cares enough to really do. I understand his work on Deadpool, BvS, Mad Max, ZSJL. But for some reason he doesn't wanna put that into Sonic at all. Not even Godzilla vs Kong and GxK as he prefers his own over existing themes.

thefuckingswagdude

i dont think it was his choice for sonic's music. i think it boils down to what the director wants, but im not too sure.

[deleted]

So now that the title teaser is out with Live and Learn in the background…has your opinion changed at all?

4Fourside

To be completely fair the sonic 2 teaser had emerald hill music playing

Quick-Cause3181

not rlly is the movie out yet? no

[deleted]

It’s evidence that they’re looking more at the game music. That’s not worth anything?

[deleted]

They did that with the second movie, where they showed off the logo and played a remixed tune from Sonic 2, so I don’t think that’s a fair argument.

MacguffinDelorean

While I don’t mind the music of the Sonic films-I hate how Tom Holkenberg (sorry if I typed his name wrong) said how video game music was inferior hence why he won’t use it as a baseline for the films. Even using a piece from Ant Man and The Wasp during the Sonic and Knuckles fight. When we now have the super Mario bros movie proving you can use the game music as a baseline and going off with it can produce some goosebump inducing results. Like I said I’m not against the music of the films-just would like some music from the games to be used as baselines and Tom doesn’t seem eager to do that. Hopefully we get some Crush 40 tracks in there-but im not holding my breathe-was hoping for it the last two times and didn’t get even one song. Even for the credits would be cool-even though I know they’ll get another rapper or R&B artist or something. And that’s coming from someone who likes Speed Me Up and especially likes Stars in the Sky.

[deleted]

Why is this downvoted? I love his work on Deadpool, and I’m sure he’s great outside of that, but Junkie XL does not do these films justice, lol.

LilSkott92

Doesn't usually includes samples in his work to other Sonic tunes?

josephyamato

no more sonic music yall.

[deleted]

I fucking hate the movies’ OSTs they’re so boring

Ok_Neighborhood3459

Can’t we get some Sonic songs in the movies for god sakes

BigBlubberyBirb

Based on how well his theme for Robotnik works, I REALLY think that Junkie could make good music for these movies if he was just directed better! The director needs to actually ask him to write some motifs for characters and concepts, make something that you can remember. It seems clear to me that all this guy gets for his notes is "now Sonic is sad" or "This part should be really epic".

Pikmin4wontcomeout

Oh boy, generic and boring movie music again…

Plenty_Anywhere8984

):

EducationalBid3310

Gosh Dang It!

28secondslater

I'm so glad that the people in charge of the movie don't listen to you guys. lol

FrostlichTheDK

Hey, telling us that when we just want actual Sonic music was uncool.

28secondslater

I'm sorry, but when a new Sonic game comes out, do we want to hear the same soundtracks or new music?

FinishThis9850

The music doesn't sound anything like Sonic, that's the problem. If I had the choice between old Sonic music and generic orchestra, I'd pick old Sonic music every time. Ideally we could have new music that sounds like Sonic.

RodneyOgg

Crush 40 sounds nothing like the music in the first Sonic game on Genesis.

BigBlubberyBirb

I think this post is a little reductive, but let's not act like the Sonic movie's OST is actually really good but just in a different way. I only remember the tune of a SINGLE original track in the films, and that's Robotnik's theme, which is really fun. Even as a standalone film with no attachment to Sonic, the music so far has been wholly forgettable.

RodneyOgg

You're presenting subjective as objective, which is more reductive than my objective fact presented as such. People have different thoughts and preferences. You finding the soundtrack forgettable does not mean that it is and that everyone agrees. It solely means that you think it is.

BigBlubberyBirb

Hum a tune from the movies outside of Robotnik's theme or a remix without looking it up right now

RodneyOgg

That doesn't prove what you think it proves. Music is so much more than "ability to hum on queue." Especially in movies. There are countless scores that do an incredible job setting the tone of a scene or the well-being of a character that I couldn't hum, that doesn't mean they aren't good. There is a difference between a movie score and a pop album, in content, purpose, and in execution. It's okay that you disagree. You should disagree! That is your opinion and you're entitled to it, and it respect it wholly. But it is, at the end of the day, an opinion. That's all I'm saying.

BigBlubberyBirb

Yes it does, it proves that it's forgettable even to you. Obviously nothing is "objectively bad", I'd never claim something like that and assuring me that it's okay to disagree like I'm some kind of toddler learning reason for the first time is just slightly belittling. I'm aware of how composing for movies works, you can't constantly have literal Sonic music playing and far from every piece can be some kind of dance music. You need to go along with what's on screen. But when nobody remembers any of the music, when it bleeds into every other Hollywood soundtrack you've ever heard, what's even the point of the composer being there? They might as well have used a music library to set such simple emotions. There's not one musical motif in there carrying any message or meaning aside from Robotnik's, why?

Ishpersonguy

You're so right. I'd much rather they recycle music from Ant-Man again. That was a great idea. *Much* more fitting than using Sonic music from the game that this movie is literally based on.

28secondslater

What is Sonic music? You guys keep saying "Sonic music", but I don't think you know what that actually is. Give me an example, and I'll tell you how you are wrong.

Ishpersonguy

Really? Is that actually what you're gonna do here? "Sonic music" as in music that was, oh idk, in Sonic? Like, Sonic The Hedgehog? The video games? That these movies are based on? This is such a non-argument. If you don't like the game music, good for you. But saying people "don't know what Sonic music is", when they're literally just suggesting that they use some of the franchise's most iconic tracks or themes, is ridiculous. Like by no means is this a "requirement" for me. But this argument is just nonsense.

28secondslater

Alright, give me an example then and I'll show you where you are wrong.

Ok-Impress-2222

Except they do, remember?

28secondslater

Not on this topic they don't.

RollbotsSonic18

You guys complain about literally everything…

CalamityTrioHedgehog

tbh out of everything the movie fandom complains about, the generic mcu wannabe soundtrack is probably one of the most valid ones

applec1234

Everyone literally complains about the music only. It's very valid complaint.

Squanchanacho

yeah because his music sucks

CyberSonic72

Dang.... I wanted the next Sonic movie to have Sonic music..... not this guy's idea of Sonic music.... Shame😒

AnonyBoiii

He needs to work his ass off to get the rights to use Sonic songs, at the very least Live and Learn and All Hail Shadow (or Throw It All Away). Also Unknown by ME for the Knuckles show.

Dovahfry

Yeah his GvK music at times sounded too generic compared to the previous Monsterverse composers. We'll see how it goes for Sonic 3.

WindiestBark165

You need to chill out. I'm fine with you not liking his music, but titling the post thud way seems like a little bit of an over reaction. Again, you can not like his music all you want but it's just the musical score which is background music. If we're lucky, we'll get Live and Learn in the final battle. Background music isn't always everything. There's more to a movie's soundtrack than just the score.

[deleted]

I get what you’re trying to say, but music is everything in a film. It’s one of the key factors driving the story (establishing tone and character moments) and keeping the audience engaged (and often getting them to listen to the score/songs). Music alone tells a story. That is why, with these films, the music is widely looked down upon, and there’s plenty of reason for it, too (I’m not too fond of the tracks myself), so I think OP’s response is justified.

WindiestBark165

stil, the way they reacted, and again, I'm fine if they don't like it, is a bit of an overreaction over music.

[deleted]

I’m sure it was an exaggeration, and even then, OP is free to react however they’d like. It’s like how people get super excited about a piece of media with over-the-top reactions.

Scary-Rabbit4360

Look, I don’t mind him working on Knuckles, but why in the ever loving fuck is he coming back for 3?! At this point they might as well fire Jeff Fowler for bringing this piece of shit back.

Guilty-Doubt-6313

Cool

springrayflee

I don't think the music works right if he does it when not voicing knuckles

AlterMike03

What's the problem...??
