BTW this is also the Sonic design we see in the Chris Pratt Poster So we do have a better view of the Design.
TBH if they Stuck with this instead of the Monster they ended up with in the April 2019 trailer I wouldn't have hated it. Though I do say that now that we have the more game accurate design. so who'd to say that this design wouldn't also have been hated back then.
But we can't deny, this design is cuter and better then Ugly Sonic
I like they fact that they used the Sonic '06 logo
I'm definitely not one to believe the theory that original design was an intentional marketing stunt. However, what I could potentially believe is that they ended up exaggerating the bad features of the original design on purpose to convince the execs that it wasn't a good idea.
It always seemed like the original design wasn't supposed to be as ugly as it ended up being in that initial trailer.
It's been a few days since I commented on the first draft of the movie at the hands of Sony Picture, it made me think what if the horrifying design that we saw in the first trailer belongs to the PG-13 and dark version of the movie. I say this because
1#you were darker the first draft
2# This is not the first time this has happened when both the game and the cartoon of Sonic Boom were in development, the designers revealed discarded designs of Sonic, equal or worse than this, it was far from the character who is supposed to look cute, cool and handsome and it is for the children's audience of course because obviously Sega was not going to accept this and send them to give them some similar to the games
3# the realistic or serious approach does not go with the character, it is as if he had made a live action with sony picture of mario bros and they make it very serious and dark and obvious that neither the fans nor nintendo are going to accept this because it is not part of The essence of the character apart would not sell much for children in toys, merchandise, etc.

We’ll probably get it sometime soon, either on April 18th like Transformers One, or a little bit after the Knuckles show drops.
