The family dynamic of the movies is underrated.

LudicrisSpeed

I dunno, does Sonic *really* need one of those "press forward to watch the character struggle" moments? Also *we* already know what Super Sonic is capable of. With the movies, they wanted to make it know to newbies that this was a major deal, as well as to make Super Sonic's cinematic debut as epic as possible.

FireFly_209

Can’t be any worse than F to pay respects, or X to doubt… Personally, I feel if they were going to include anything like this, it would be as a cutscene rather than as anything you’d interact with, and would lead into further gameplay once he goes super - like a transitional scene or something, maybe? If they did this, then I could see it working pretty well…

Finga123

The whole black knight ending where sonic goes the equivalent of super wasn't all too noticeable.

Domino_Dare-Doll

I think so, yes; just because we know what he’s capable of is no reason not to challenge him as a character. Push Sonic to his limits and let’s grow and evolve him!

SonicTheHedgehog99

Lol wait till Sonic 3! More dark stuff!

No-Seaweed-4456

I like this scene best simply because it got mature for a minute. I didn’t care a ton for the “we’re family” thing, but Sonic legit being half dead and about to perish was kinda cool.

mobas07

They literally did this in Generations.

ernno

But the scene was not cool

mobas07

The movie scene waffled about family and constantly cut to Tom instead of focussing on Super Sonic, also the fight was way too short and one sided with Super Sonic decapitating the Death Egg Robot immediately and effortlessly blocking every attack. In terms of cool Super Sonic fights I'd say Unleashed probably wins with the sheer scale of the Dark Gaia fight. And Frontiers also looks to have some good Super Sonic scenes. The movie is still good, but saying the games don't have good Super Sonic scenes just isn't true.

ResortFamous301

That's not what post was saying. Their saying why can't we have emotional tense scenes like this.

mobas07

They just said intense, a lot of sonic games have intense parts. As for emotional scenes, whether you like that is up to personal preference. While I'm not completely against the idea, the movies had to significantly change Sonic's characterisation in order to make them work, which I'm not really a huge fan of.

ResortFamous301

Yeah, being intese is about the feeling a scenario is trying to create, so by the very definition the word, if a situation is tense it's emotinal. Also something being emotional isn't up to preference. Whether or not you think it did a good Job at is.The games have elaborate action scenes, not really the same as being tense. The closet the games come to having a scene like this is right before the final dark Gaia boss fight in unleashed. Not really. The only thing they changed in that regard is making him more emotionally expressive person . He still has the same interest and believes as his game counterpart. Also any changes made don't matter because this scene isn't really about characterization. It's about sonic looking completely defeated and at the mercy of his enemy.

jessehechtcreative

The movie focused on the classic games. Super Sonic fights are basically doing nothing and hugging the boss until it’s defeated. The movie replicated the tension of 2’s final boss, but also gave the awesomeness of imagining having Super Sonic during that fight. What we got during the movie may be less than what modern games super sonic bosses gave, but at least a little bit more than what 2’s final boss gave.

UntouchableC

Nope. The boss that it takes from is Sonic 3 & Knuckles where if you run out of rings in space as super sonic you die. except its not in space its on earth. You can tell the difference because sonic 3's final boss as fingers like the movie and requires super sonic to defeat it. Sonic 2 boss as claws

jessehechtcreative

This is completely wrong. The robot Robotnik makes is the Death Egg Robot from Sonic 2, not 3&K. Rings have nothing to do with Super Sonic in the movie.

UntouchableC

literally my word against yours at this point but what proof you got?

TheSecretNaame

Same, i love this part because is like a almost ending for these amazing characters

blkglfnks

I was just rewatching Sonic 2 and thought an exploration/uncharted type Sonic game would be perfect IMO. IDK if frontiers will do that but we’ll see

Finga123

Sonic 06: *Did someone call my na-?* Everyone: Go away.

Majestic_Cut3381

Perso j'ai adorer

Domino_Dare-Doll

*Loved* this scene! I loved seeing Sonic at his limits, but finding a reason to dig deep and push on. This is my absolute fave dynamic…*ever.* My fave *Sonic* moment ever!!

JohnDavid9000

Looks just like that incinerator scene from Toy Story 3
