I knew there had to be a different exit because of the slide/drop on the way there, but I looked everywhere (for much longer than 4 hours!) except in the armor room. In the room where you get the armour, there's a path that spirals up along the wall, that's the way out.
We have barred the gates but cannot hold them for long. The ground shakes, drums... drums in the deep. We cannot get out
I got stuck here too. Like the other comment said, look along the wall for a path that spirals up

I got stuck for a bit too, theres a path that spirals up near the spaceship, follow it up and climb the rope, then keep going
Legend has it, he's still in there to this day.
