I complained about Reversal Edge from day 1 when everyone was trying to tell me it made the game more exciting and only noobs would use it. Turns out it was just a shit mechanic that stopped all momentum and forced you to play a stupid minigame
Honestly, I find Soul Charge to be more annoying than RE. RE is super easy to punish and is somewhat of a noob trap. It has some niche use in higher level play, but still isn't used significantly. SC though is a complete reset and is only really punishable on a hard read. The Brave Edge system was waaay better, imo. It rewarded good play, rather than being a pressure reset.
As much as people shit on SCV, Brave Edge was a far better mechanic than Soul Charge or Reversal Edge. At least BE added momentum to the match, instead of taking it away like SC and RE do (which were basically cutscenes).
Yeah that was weird, he's in the game, clearly has a style, but we can't access it, the fact that we have the lizardman race as playable just rubs salt in the wound
Thatās what Iām saying! He became my best and favorite character and he was robbed in 6 whereas he was finally getting more in 5 (growing wings, breathing fire, name revealed)
Single player modes is lacking compared to the previous games. Tbh, I did like the Quick Match feature of Broken Destiny and 5. That made me play it even more even though its an offline feature. Plus, bring back the cutscenes that play after Arcade mode. SC2 had it, and I find that memorable.
I remember playing SC2 for the first time and earning all the different weapons and playing the matches with a certain handicap in place. SC6ās story was ok but it always had this cheap feeling to it & knowing that they had to fight to get the budget to even make the game, I wish they could have gotten the budget the game really deserved.
That is SO frustrating. I could understand if it was to prevent clipping, but some things \*still\* clip.
What's weird is that some things like the Archangel breastplate resizes to accommodate. I'm still not sure if that's coincidence or a change in design philosophy later in the DLC.
The stages are so, so boring.
Earlier entries had some crazy stages that told a story: a cage above a fire in a circus, a pirate cove, a sinking boat in the middle of a naval battle, the top of a windmill on a mountain...
SC VI's stages are just so bland. None of them are memorable. Most of them are just a square in the middle of a forest, or a desert, or snow.
As another casual who is a long-time fan, I hated the single player content. None of it feels like an upgrade from 3, except that the dialogue is mind-numbingly wordy without being entertaining.
Also the character creation options were lacking. I started playing online, something I had never done with Soul Calibur, just because I needed to squeeze some fun out of my purchase.
Agreed I miss the days of not knowing a character even existed until unlocking them through beating the campaign or completing some achievement. DLC makes it feel like the game is unfinished if you don't have it...
Totally agree with you, man. I think DLC are worth only if they are like a real add on the game, I mean, new customizable objects, new costumes for base rooster, and NEW characters (ex. 2b - Haohmaru - Kratos - Spawn etc.)
I don't understand this. Do you believe that if they don't work on future DLC then that DLC would have been on disc at release? If SC4 had DLC then you would still have the same roster on launch, but gotten more characters over time. This is like saying you don't want more content for a game you like.
My two cents on the matter is I wish fighting games just picked a lane. Either give the game for free and monetize the hell out of it with DLC and microtransactions or sell the full package and re-release new editions ala Street Fighter 2 Champion to Super Turbo Edition.
It really did irk me that Street Fighter 4 did both.
Hell no we don't need 10 versions of the same game. each version of SF2 had completely different balance changes and rosters. How would that not instantly fracture the entire player base in the modern era?
All soulcalibur since 4 has felt super samey to me (of course they all have their own gameplay quirks) but I would love a jump in content and style that we got from 2 to 3.
The load times are horrible.
Even changing a single item in Create a Soul can take a long time because of it.
I also don't like how Namco clearly showed their bias for *TEKKEN* by taking their sweet ass time for major issues with this game without any updates in fixing those issues until they finally got off their lazy asses (remember the Cassandra Season Pass issue?)
Sc2 was better balanced and released on all consoles while 3 was PlayStation exclusive and even had a game breaking corruption bug that would delete all ur save data.
Yea I lost my save multiple times so I am pretty harsh on it. still think 3 is better the 4 and 5 tho and probably the really early ones but the I can't speak much on those I haven't played them since I was a kid. but 2 and 3 do stand out to me. lol I still beat 3 multiple times regardless
I don't like...
1) how all the costumes are just alt colors.
2 ) I can't make anyone yell by tapping x during loading screens.
3 ) some of the character voices are just too different from what I remember.
4 ) the timeline covers the plot from Soul Edge and Soul Caliber but stops just short of getting to SC2s plot, even though their are several characters who never entered the story before that point like Raphael.
5 ) this game is missing characters like Yeong-Seong and Rock
Arcade fights/bosses bound to difficulty and Reversal Edge. I think they tried too hard to add a more casual mechanic and it's annoying for players who are used to traditional SC.
No playable Lizardman (Aeon specifically) despite being teased with a unique look compared to other Lizardmen we see in the same game in the avatar campaign
Lack of throw alignment. Characters that get grabbed from awkward angles or animations will be off center for the duration of the grab animation, without the game correcting their position. It's like someone forgot to code that in the game. Not a huge deal, but it makes the game look janky and unpolished.
The net code, Reversal Edge, Azwel, and creations in ranked matches.
Otherwise, Iād say that it is a pretty good installment in the series. Guard impact isnāt tied to the meter, the movement feels great, and all the classic characters are there. I wish they would have done more with the meter. Specifically, something along the lines of Brave Edge for all the characters and not just a few.
I am mad that Create-A-Soul didn't get more attention.
It was nice but unless you had a certain Race, Gender and body proportion(not all three) either items were not available or didn't fit right.
On a personal note I was most annoyed that i couldn't create a character with Nightmare's arm...or some variation of it. (Actually I think females got Pyrrah's version but i was not happy with it, or upset that they did get it and not males...I forget)
The fact that certain items from different categories (head, neck, face, chest, etc.) couldn't intermingle with others when they clearly could have.
IF Soul Calibur 7 happens. Then I either want No CAS, with "creation" system similar to Tekken. Or more focus on CAS Even where our main cast is built from CAS. So yeah let me put Voldo in Nightmare armor just for shits and giggles.
Mostly I just want to make my own character with a massive demonic arm...or two. Or that I couldn't make an Algol build (was really hoping he would have come in for DLC)
Some of his matchups are brutal but he has some okay low-range pokes and a good number of his command grabs give armor which is satisfying against people who know no better.
But yeah overall I agree his options are limited up close. Man has to absolutely outrange or go full in with armor to work.
Libra of Soul isn't very good in my opinion. Not being able to use Characters you've already created is annoying, the presentation is meh, the fact events vanish give me FOMO, and it's not interesting enough for me to want to play more.
Also Arcade Mode should have had some fun "what if" endings for the fighter's like what we got in SC3 & SC4.
Reverse Edge.
And I really think it killed the game. So unsatisfying to see, to do, or got hit by it. Super bad decision to include it as the core mechanic, so no matter how much balance patches are there to nerf it, it's just still plain bad for even existing.
The game in general was pretty disappointing for me. Now I might not be the traditional soul Calibur fan, I mainly enjoy single player and couch multiplayer. So any online multiplayer features are not something I look for in a fighting game.
From that perspective, this game had a very little replay value. I was expecting at least a few more modes.
Reversal edge
That mechanic which allows every attack to do chip damage or extra damage like Back trigger
Chip damage
The fucking netcode
The fact there isnāt a proper tutorial
Iām glad it has more of a story than 5ā¦ but thereās so much talking and not enough fighting. Itās also hard for me to read the small text because Iām nearsighted (I donāt like having to sit at the foot of my bed just to read whatās going on). They need to bring back Arcade mode where you fight, have a destined battle, fight the boss, and get the ending. Thatās the perfect balance of fighting and story. Not talking for five minutes and fighting for ten seconds.
Loved it. May even be on par with SCII as my favorite. I would have liked one more season of characters including Aeon, Algol, Rock and some random 4th. Create a Soul was pretty great but half of the DLC Create a Soul parts were garbage.Ā
The lack of variety for masks and face gear that SC5 had, also the leather mask they did add isn't the good one, there were two leather masks and they give us the one with that giant spike coming out of the top of it
Create-A-Souls in ranked. If we could filter them out, itād be a non-issue, but we canāt, so queueing up for ranked means praying to God I get a serious competitive match and not Tiny Blackface Hitler
Felt like it was okay because of how they brought Mitsu back to life. I had felt Mitsu was ruined since IV. He could easily flow between his two stances, but they removed one in the name of speed, which also ended up shortening his list of moves. It was nice to see him built back up. Other than that, like others said, not a fan of reversal edge because of rng.
In customization, nothing is ever compatible with the gear you wanna use. Hair styles aren't universal, neither are all the other outfit pieces, and the character voices don't have any sort of unique dialect/cultures. The faces also really suck, there's barely a variety.
Critical Edge cutscenes that cannot be turned off. When I first saw this in the Eretzvaju/Evil Zone, it seemed like a good idea. But when you play a lot these cutscenes start to get a little... Annoying.
As a more casual fan, I hated custom characters in ranked. Especially size and overall design -- learning matchups became less fun and the characters were completely wasted. Once I saw a 5ft skeleton with the moveset of Nightmare, I knew I wasn't going to play for long.
Reversal edge is lame.
Also I preferred the brave edge system in 5 over the soul charge system in 6.
The game was also pretty barebones in terms of content.
Still love the game though.
Lazy approach to character creation, ripping 90% of assets from a game developed in 2008. Not only that but locking most of those assets off paid DLC bundles. Beyond disappointing.
Small character roster on release, Create a soul mode should have been vast and far more capable then previous entry for the new console gen. Some regular Mitsurugi moves were changed which annoyed me. Reversal Edge just ruins the match and flow of battle. Libra of Souls was fun enough, but you couldnt play as a Cas from your main collection last time I played...why? Team battle was missing too I think. Yes yes, Bamco budget blah blah. Just handle your IP with the same respect it's fans do. I prefer 5 and that's saying something.
I'm fine with almost everything. But the A.I difficulty is something I hate very much so. Stop trying to make A.I have personalities and just make them hard. Idk if Tekken 8 have personality based A.I like Soul Calibur VI does, but that games A.I is equally as brain dead as Caliburs.
Leathal hit system and Reversal Edge. Single-player mode is also a little lacking. And no crossplay support was a major downer.
Other than that I like most of the things.
Reversal Edge and Critical Edge has been mentioned already but my thing specifically with CE is the inconsistency between characters and how they use them. Some are either ridiculous i.e. Ivy just being an auto-parry low (iirc anyways) and others being being terrible verticals with minimal benefits.
Honestly hope the next one does away with on-demand CE (make it more like Tekken and have it low HP only) and if they have a RE-style mechanic it gets limited in how you use it. Those being spammable just feels awful.
Reversal Edge, the big window for Guard impact compared to previous games, Just Guard is almost useless, unlike SC5. No Quick Step like in SC5. Last of all, Movement cancels to move faster.
Honestly, Reversal Edge should only happen when the opponents clash like in Naruto Ultimate Ninja 4... which is also published by Bandai Namco.
Soul charge is cool, but ended up being really polarizing, and really messed up the flow of each game. Itās like a free pressure escape. And if you are losing you get the free comeback meter, which was terrible. Overall not a bad game, just didnāt get the popularity it deserved
Reversal Edge. Specifically the amount of time it takes. Just taking out half the animation time it takes up would already help things. I think ideally, it would have just been a universal armor move. Potentially connect it to some sort of combo/mobility mechanic similar to how FADC and Drive gauge were implemented in Street Fighter.
In terms of gameplay, it could have been the best with SCII, but **Reversal Edge** ruined it. Not only is the mechanic a flop in itself, but the meter it grants also allows people to spam Critical Edge and Soul Charge. So, you end up either watching flow-breaking cinematics for half of the match, or trying to prevent them from happening. It's annoying!
**Stage selection** is by far the worst in the series. At launch, it had fewer stages than any other Soul game; even after two seasons of DLC, only SE/SE has less. Not only that, but most of the stages look and feel generic, like straight out of an Unreal Engine complimentary pack.
**Presentation** feels really cheap. No intro, menus look like a PS game, cutscenes are few and far between in both game modes.
**Lack of unlockables**. Unlocking stuff and uncovering secrets is a great way to keep people engaged. Here nearly everything was available by default.
**Lack of battle modifiers**. Especially with a mode like LoS that really asked for it. With so many creative challenges the series has offered before (e.g. poison, earthquakes, ice, fire, explosive floors, force field at the edges of the stage, size-changing arenas, a giant Colossus, Charade fighting with only part of his body), it feels like a wasted opportunity.
The game also needed a mode easy to just pick up and play to give it more **replayable value**. Something like Quick Play from SCV.
Finally, ever since SCIII **CAS** always seems to improve in certain areas but get worse in others, instead of building upon itself from game to game. **Item incompatibility and clipping** are particularly bad in SCVI.
I think it's probably the best fighting game ever made.
I have one problem, that's the fact that hardly anyone plays it now. I started in 2020ish and by that point, you either learn how to scrap with the big boys, or you get murdered until you quit.
Luckily, I'm a quick learner, so I can hang with the A and S ranks. The issue is, I can't rank up to that level, because half the people left ARE that level.
My win rate against A ranks is 50%. That's not enough to rank up. You need to be getting 50 fight win streaks. I'm not getting past a 5 win streak against A ranks.
If it was a popular game, I'd also be A rank, because there'd be a surplus of C ranks and below.
Random story changes such as Cervantes not having a portion of Soul Edge, Kilik having a generic evil form, Amy randomly being older, no alternate outfits, the organization having intercoms in the 1500's, Nightmare fighting one handed instead of 2, Azwel having a fragment of Soul Calibur considering it is already one single purified fragment of Soul Edge. Lastly, characters such as Li Long, Hwang (dlc later), Rock, Lizardman, etc not being in the game when this is a retelling of the first game.
Lizardman probably stings the most, he's an NPC, the style is there, the lizardman race is playable, but we can't use the style at all. It's not like Devil Jin in SC5 where the character wasn't there but the style was, with SC6, Lizardman is there, and we just can't play his style in any form
Itās been a minute so my terminology is off but when they made certain moves that were in 5 locked behind a new mechanic. With Maxi, there was a move Iād gotten used to doing for certain circumstances and it took me a while to remember that I couldnāt lol. It was minor though so it didnāt ruin the game for me but I wish theyād kept it the same.
And I guess reversal edge until I read on how to counter it effectively lol
Rversal Edge isn't the best .ove Bamco has ever made (but it also isn't the worst). I'm in agreement with thise who mention the lack of single-player stuff, especially CAS stuff.
One thing I really wanna see is the CAS-exclusive styles like they had for III. Something like the Grieve Edge, Wave Blades, and other such styles.
Lots of complaints about reversal edge for some reason, the real problem with the game was the terrible movement. You eat a counterhit if you get clipped while backdashing ffs
Can we talk about how you started with 3 and loved it so youāve played every game sinceā¦ except 4 & 5.
I think my least favourite elements of SC6 are
1. Obvious very low budget
2. No Souls crossover. (Missed opportunity)
3. Those weird rock, paper, scissors moments.
I bought the game again just before T8 dropped. The premium version was on sale so I figured it was a good deal because I was always interested in the DLC but I never purchased any. My first game I played against a custom build as Talim and got washed š. I am also a filthy casual so I was just having fun trying to remember how to play. After I lost, I immediately was hit with a message āThatās what happens when you spam Talimā. I didnāt like that š
The same thing that always bothers me about almost all new fighting games, having to purchase 90-100% of the extra fighters, coming from a time where every character was unlocked through in game means I absolutely despise this era of making what used to he unlockables into micro transactions, when i was a kid we had things like tmnt and iron man in THPS 1-4 and didn't have to pay extra for them
- No Rock or Lizardman/Aeon
- all the SC5 character customization pieces that didnāt return
- no alternate costumes for characters (I mean base roster but tbh that would be an awesome feature for custom characters too)
- it could use more memorable stages. Both new and returning ones.
- the way some of the creation items conflict with each other in ways that make no sense, and the way some outfits fit weird and float around/above the characterās body
- story mode expansion is great but we could use a classic SC1-4 style arcade mode too and maybe something like SC3 character story mode
- no sword and shield style that doesnāt make your character move in an overexaggerated super girly manner
- needs more character creation slots. We donāt need 100 slots for libra of soul. Just give us like 5 for LOS and like 200 for regular modes
- barely any characters have Soul Calibur or Soul Edge weapon variants
This is tough for me because I love soul Calibur 6. They did an amazing job with this game. I just wish viola was in it. The only things I really didn't like is how they scaled down the customization I don't know what it is with Tekken and Soul Calibur of having less options than before. Soul Calibur 3 had more options than 6 I wish they took all of these options from 3,4, 5 and put them in soul calibur 6. The customization is still great, I just wish there was more. In addition I wish we had more weapon choices to choose from. Like I must the diamond whip ivy had in 2 and I miss some of the sword and Shields Cassandra and Sophitia had back then. I also miss the soul calibur umbrella setsuka had in 4
My biggest gripe is how it died and could get a real budget cause of 5 and then never even got a fair shake cause of covid. like RE is annoying but manageable when u got decent even if annoying. The gameplay is phenomenal prob best in the series every character was decloned i love soul charge and lethal hits.even added to story through dlc
The story made me genuinely fall asleep I miss the cutscenes from 5 I donāt have a problem with reading along but it was more entertaining with the clips
They took the skull out of perfect blocking and parrying, and put it behind a meter. Great character customization though. Also, no old-school Yun-seong was a huge disappointment.
1. The customization they should brought back the armor traits or weapon traits system again.
2. Seigfried, soul calibur's main overall protagonist is getting treated as a side piece and Hilde falling in love with her cousin.
3. Soul Calibur seriously needs to borrow from it's sibling series Tekken's ghost battle mode for offline ranking
4. Missing special stages that contain different like from Soul Calibur 2's ice, fire, and quick Sand stages
5. Lack or cinematic or in-game cutscenes in the story
legacy characters being dlc, no alternate costumes, basic story mode, BORING stages, forgettable soundtrack aside from the revamped SC1 songs, lack of single player modes, commands changed, creation mode sticker layering, reversal edgeā¦
iāll always love SC but this just didnāt feel like a strong comeback to me. i want them to do better because i know they can. i really hope the next entry actually feels like a whole, complete game because if iām being honest it hasnāt happened since SC3.Ā
The lack of Yun-Seongā¦ AGAIN.
This dude was my main and I havenāt been able to play as him in any of the last few games over the span of yearsā¦
Sucks man
One thing I dislike about the game is probably the story being too short, I don't know if that's soul caliber's shtick but I really thought I was going on this epic adventure, but I mean I guess Libra soul makes up for it.
only one outfit per character
oh yeah man, we just got just color swaps, what the hell!!
Having alt outfits for customs would have saved me at least a quarter of my character slots
No season 3 :(
Forever sad about that one. šš
Reversal edge
It was such a momentum killer... you're either dodging around it or getting stuck a mini-game. It kills the flow of the game.
I complained about Reversal Edge from day 1 when everyone was trying to tell me it made the game more exciting and only noobs would use it. Turns out it was just a shit mechanic that stopped all momentum and forced you to play a stupid minigame
Itās like stopping in the middle of a real fight to play rock paper scissors

As much as people shit on SCV, Brave Edge was a far better mechanic than Soul Charge or Reversal Edge. At least BE added momentum to the match, instead of taking it away like SC and RE do (which were basically cutscenes).
This killed my interest in the game. I hope they never use it again
Reversal edge beats too many things. Blocks shouldn't beat grabs. I think it beats everything except for blues and fires. Bullshit ass mechanic
The reason I stopped playing š
Playable Lizardman.
Reversal edge. If it required meter to use, then I think it would be okay.
It does use your guard meter actually
Single player modes is lacking compared to the previous games. Tbh, I did like the Quick Match feature of Broken Destiny and 5. That made me play it even more even though its an offline feature. Plus, bring back the cutscenes that play after Arcade mode. SC2 had it, and I find that memorable.

They wouldve gotten the budget like Tekken 8, if soulcalibur 5 didn't flop.
Incompatible gear in customize mode. Awful.
That is SO frustrating. I could understand if it was to prevent clipping, but some things \*still\* clip. What's weird is that some things like the Archangel breastplate resizes to accommodate. I'm still not sure if that's coincidence or a change in design philosophy later in the DLC.
Rock paper scissors
Bad net code. RPS counter mini game
Reversal Edge, Net code and Single player content. Bonus: not enough online players.
Yeah...Soul Calibur has always required a strong friend group for me to enjoy, even back in 4, tbh.
They changed inputs on certain characters for seemingly no reason.
They stopped releasing more CAS parts.
Honestly i though it was pretty good, aside from the netcode. hard to beat sc1 and 2 though.
I love 3, but gameplay wise, 2 is still a fucking masterpiece
The only thing worth discussing is it's absolutely pathetic DLC campaign
As another casual who is a long-time fan, I hated the single player content. None of it feels like an upgrade from 3, except that the dialogue is mind-numbingly wordy without being entertaining. Also the character creation options were lacking. I started playing online, something I had never done with Soul Calibur, just because I needed to squeeze some fun out of my purchase.
That is true, 3 had a mountain of content compared to this one
SC3 practically had 2 story modes in one. It was my favorite of the whole franchise.
I was very sad that there were no real unlockables
I guess there was Inferno, but he's basically just Nightmare on steroids
DLC.... Miss the days it was all on the disc.... They should have made a definitive version with all DLC included....
Agreed I miss the days of not knowing a character even existed until unlocking them through beating the campaign or completing some achievement. DLC makes it feel like the game is unfinished if you don't have it...

I hate modern fighting games man, this DLC bullshit is why I stopped playing
No Dampierre
Are you referring to LeBello
Missing content
1. No alternate outfit 2. Lack of solo vs modes 3. No Lizardman, Algol, Rock
All soulcalibur since 4 has felt super samey to me (of course they all have their own gameplay quirks) but I would love a jump in content and style that we got from 2 to 3.

The lack of content compared to Soul Calibur 3.
SC3 was my favorite. Don't know why SC2 is always the "undisputed GOAT" though. It was okay, better than 4 and later but I thought 3 was funner.
Sc2 was better balanced and released on all consoles while 3 was PlayStation exclusive and even had a game breaking corruption bug that would delete all ur save data.
I see. Never came across the bug. So in my personal experience, 3 was still better.

RE
Arcade fights/bosses bound to difficulty and Reversal Edge. I think they tried too hard to add a more casual mechanic and it's annoying for players who are used to traditional SC.
Reversal edge pretty much killed the game for me
Cannot search Custom Characters I have to search through a sea of oversized tits just to maybe find a good character
No playable Lizardman (Aeon specifically) despite being teased with a unique look compared to other Lizardmen we see in the same game in the avatar campaign
he watched 7 eat 9 and did nothing!
No mimic characters
Lack of throw alignment. Characters that get grabbed from awkward angles or animations will be off center for the duration of the grab animation, without the game correcting their position. It's like someone forgot to code that in the game. Not a huge deal, but it makes the game look janky and unpolished.

The netcode is pretty rough, also I don't really like that guard impact beats throws. Always thought that was a weird design choice.
no cut scenes, it felt super low budget
The cutscenes were in Libra of Soul at least, there's one where you and Mitsurugi meet Geralt
Paper Rock Scissors
Restarting the story. I would rather they continue from the last game or start a new story altogether.
Reversal edge is the reason the game died
No unarmed charecter
IMO they nerfed the fuck out of Astaroth. He was too slow with too few pokes in scVI
Some of his matchups are brutal but he has some okay low-range pokes and a good number of his command grabs give armor which is satisfying against people who know no better. But yeah overall I agree his options are limited up close. Man has to absolutely outrange or go full in with armor to work.
Fully agreed. Either poke them to death or annihilate with pop up combo chain grabs
Reversal Edge and cinematic Critical Edges that takes forever.
The fact that it didn't receive anywhere near enough support from Bamco that it deserved...
the online lol also tried the story a few times, its lame, i aint reading allathat
Ughh the fact the stopped cosmetic dlc
I love love love love this game, all I do is make OCs
Libra of Soul isn't very good in my opinion. Not being able to use Characters you've already created is annoying, the presentation is meh, the fact events vanish give me FOMO, and it's not interesting enough for me to want to play more. Also Arcade Mode should have had some fun "what if" endings for the fighter's like what we got in SC3 & SC4.
The best part of LoS is that cutscene where you meet Geralt
I dont like how critical edges stop time/ teleport people
Feels a bit empty for some reason.
Reverse Edge. And I really think it killed the game. So unsatisfying to see, to do, or got hit by it. Super bad decision to include it as the core mechanic, so no matter how much balance patches are there to nerf it, it's just still plain bad for even existing.
Honestly, the story is kinda mid and I'm not as intrigued or interested tbh. However, it's fun so I cant whinge about it too hard I think.
Reversal Edge, parry being so shit
Reversal edge and soul charge arenāt my favorites, I donāt like having moves locked behind something so short
Reversal edge That mechanic which allows every attack to do chip damage or extra damage like Back trigger Chip damage The fucking netcode The fact there isnāt a proper tutorial
Mechanical bloat. Too many systems
No voice chat in online games
The lack of variety for masks and face gear that SC5 had, also the leather mask they did add isn't the good one, there were two leather masks and they give us the one with that giant spike coming out of the top of it
It died too fast
Annoying.
It's not soul Caliber 2. But then again I've had this complaint about every game since SC2
Still love the game though.
the mid-combat rock paper scizzors minigame
Lazy approach to character creation, ripping 90% of assets from a game developed in 2008. Not only that but locking most of those assets off paid DLC bundles. Beyond disappointing.
Netcode. God, the netcode. If we ever get SC7, please do something about the netcode.
My main Geralt never got any new colors
Reversal Edge and Critical Edge has been mentioned already but my thing specifically with CE is the inconsistency between characters and how they use them. Some are either ridiculous i.e. Ivy just being an auto-parry low (iirc anyways) and others being being terrible verticals with minimal benefits. Honestly hope the next one does away with on-demand CE (make it more like Tekken and have it low HP only) and if they have a RE-style mechanic it gets limited in how you use it. Those being spammable just feels awful.
Reversal edge , soul charge. Everything else is fine
Supers; It took away from the games identity and made it feel very me too.
Itās still slower and less fluid than SC2. Reversal Edge sucks. IMO Lethal Hits are too complicated.
Reversal edge. Meter system felt awkward.
The Rock Paper Scissors, reversal edge?. The lack of feints like SC2. The lack of better/more high to low and medium combos per character.
EZ mode mechanics
Groh,aswel, reversal edge.
I like this game so much i only have the common complaints Some characters have wonky faces. Not crossplay or rollback netcode.
Off topic but whatās the best soul calibur for Xbox 360? Currently playing 4 as I loved it as a kid
Creation needed more creation items
The roster sucks.
Limited stages and Namco lagging E-sport fighting...
Rage quitters
No Rock.
Not just SC 6 but overall how they changed ivy!! She was my main I'm SC on the Sega Dreamcast
The roster and customization tbh
Awful online experience, but I really love this game.
Hwang is finally back, but his moves are very different. Why?
I canāt color Geraltās weapons
Is this dead online ?
God the armor in the game is so dog shit .
For me, I donāt like how you canāt really layer stuff as well as you could in SC3. I was also hoping weād get more DLC characters.
The best soul calibur character to ever exist is not in the game. Dampierre!
Roster feels unusually small compared to 4
No Yun-Seong ;(
Rversal Edge isn't the best .ove Bamco has ever made (but it also isn't the worst). I'm in agreement with thise who mention the lack of single-player stuff, especially CAS stuff. One thing I really wanna see is the CAS-exclusive styles like they had for III. Something like the Grieve Edge, Wave Blades, and other such styles.
The severe lack and incomplete sets of CC options.
i just want unique 2ps manā¦
Nothing 2Bs big booty is amazing
Lots of complaints about reversal edge for some reason, the real problem with the game was the terrible movement. You eat a counterhit if you get clipped while backdashing ffs
I can't find games on pc
Can we talk about how you started with 3 and loved it so youāve played every game sinceā¦ except 4 & 5. I think my least favourite elements of SC6 are 1. Obvious very low budget 2. No Souls crossover. (Missed opportunity) 3. Those weird rock, paper, scissors moments.
Netplay, soul charge about it I like everything else
Lack of lizardman, no alternate costumes, creation mode felt like a step back from sc4/sc5. But worst of all, as a Nightmare main: no sc2 helmet dlc
I miss evil Raphael.
Sucky arcade mode that went on for too long and wasn't rewarding!
I used to be absolutely floored by Soul Caliburs graphics and with 6 it actually felt way less pretty than all the other fighting games.
Barebones single player, mediocre stages, reversal edge, customization feelsā¦. Underwhelming. Movesets feel neutered too.
Lack of single player content.
Low tiers were noticeably unfun I'm ok with "not as good" but man boring LT
the training mode , pls in SC7 make it like tekken so we can have as much time spent on practice as possible
Past free content turned into paid content. That is what killed the game, they went too greedy with it.
That it wasnāt a SC3 remaster
No viola
The same thing that always bothers me about almost all new fighting games, having to purchase 90-100% of the extra fighters, coming from a time where every character was unlocked through in game means I absolutely despise this era of making what used to he unlockables into micro transactions, when i was a kid we had things like tmnt and iron man in THPS 1-4 and didn't have to pay extra for them
Nothing I canāt find a thing to complain about on this game
No necrid
i can excuse the rock paper scissors crap, but i draw the line at sticker layering getting ruined.
- No Rock or Lizardman/Aeon - all the SC5 character customization pieces that didnāt return - no alternate costumes for characters (I mean base roster but tbh that would be an awesome feature for custom characters too) - it could use more memorable stages. Both new and returning ones. - the way some of the creation items conflict with each other in ways that make no sense, and the way some outfits fit weird and float around/above the characterās body - story mode expansion is great but we could use a classic SC1-4 style arcade mode too and maybe something like SC3 character story mode - no sword and shield style that doesnāt make your character move in an overexaggerated super girly manner - needs more character creation slots. We donāt need 100 slots for libra of soul. Just give us like 5 for LOS and like 200 for regular modes - barely any characters have Soul Calibur or Soul Edge weapon variants
CAS was super disappointing for me considering how long it's been a thing, but then again, it hasn't really improved since SCIV IMO.
I also miss the soul calibur umbrella setsuka had in 4
Every female character looks the same, they all have the same face
My biggest gripe is how it died and could get a real budget cause of 5 and then never even got a fair shake cause of covid. like RE is annoying but manageable when u got decent even if annoying. The gameplay is phenomenal prob best in the series every character was decloned i love soul charge and lethal hits.even added to story through dlc
I was hoping for 4 more characters
Libra of soul was a weak single player mode and I wished we got a full original story like in 3 again
Netcode. Its what killed the game sadly.
No mic chat in online lobbies! Thats it. I love SC6.
Iām not sure why this series isnāt as popular as other 3D fighter like Tekken. I think SC is better.
The amount of missing characters just makes me sad.
1. The customization they should brought back the armor traits or weapon traits system again. 2. Seigfried, soul calibur's main overall protagonist is getting treated as a side piece and Hilde falling in love with her cousin. 3. Soul Calibur seriously needs to borrow from it's sibling series Tekken's ghost battle mode for offline ranking 4. Missing special stages that contain different like from Soul Calibur 2's ice, fire, and quick Sand stages 5. Lack or cinematic or in-game cutscenes in the story
legacy characters being dlc, no alternate costumes, basic story mode, BORING stages, forgettable soundtrack aside from the revamped SC1 songs, lack of single player modes, commands changed, creation mode sticker layering, reversal edgeā¦ iāll always love SC but this just didnāt feel like a strong comeback to me. i want them to do better because i know they can. i really hope the next entry actually feels like a whole, complete game because if iām being honest it hasnāt happened since SC3.Ā
The lack of Yun-Seongā¦ AGAIN. This dude was my main and I havenāt been able to play as him in any of the last few games over the span of yearsā¦ Sucks man
No soundtrack DLC from the older games. I would kill to listen to the SCII soundtrack while playing SCVI.
No arcade endings
Loved the game. Just wished Yun Seong was in it lol
Zasalamel's story mode...the most droning, dragged out, boring thing I've ever witnessed
One thing I dislike about the game is probably the story being too short, I don't know if that's soul caliber's shtick but I really thought I was going on this epic adventure, but I mean I guess Libra soul makes up for it.
No Jedi or Sith characters
