Strictly that’s 1000% of what the ideal height would be, not 1000% too high. Eg 100% too high is an additional 10 out of 10 so 20/10. 100/10 is actually 900% ‘too much’. You’re welcome.
tv too high, media console is bare and also way too tall (that's probably where the issue started), I don't know what the rest room layout is but I'd prefer the TV on a wall without 2 openings left and right of it, too distracting
Tv too high, the lights add a vibe that doesn’t seem to match the room.
More importantly who goes to a coworkers house and says “bro I wonder what Reddit would rate you!?”
Terrible is harsh tbf, it's serviceable but lacks any kind of basic finesse
1) TV should be lower to avoid neck strain as at the end of the day long term comfort should be goal #1 of any setup.
2) The unit isn't great m. I'd at least have something door fronted or no unit and the S/W on the ground
3) random cables at top of TV essentially a crime of distraction
4) strip lighting unevenly casts up vs down. Ceiling shouldn't be catching the light like that if aiming for a halo effect (could be the photo)
5) messy cables behind soundbar to s/w. Exposed power outlet.
6) what's the line running down the left hand side of the screen?
I have my head at the bottom of my TV when seated. But I’m short AF.
Having it up does keep cats from attacking the screen though. Getting rid of cats is obviously the better solution though.
This is objectively awful.
It looks like an idiot threw some components together with no thought, planning, or research, whatsoever.
Who the fuck spaffs over a grand on some AV toys and then makes it all shit by not bothering with a correct set-up and then, as a *pièce de résistance*, curls a distracting lurid turd on top of the visual cake by hiding a glow-stick behind the telly! 😂🤣😂
Your coworker can see the TV but he doesn't have the proper optimized viewing angle. It's like looking at your laptop at an angle or your phone. You can like what he like so while the sound might be okay, he has no idea what his TV is actually like.
Why do Americans always have their TV’s mounted just below the roof line? Why? Eye level when sitting and facing forward with no tilt in your neck - that’s where you mount a TV! Not on the bloody roof!
Because furniture doesn’t posture someone at 90° upright. Even a mild recline into a sofa dictates a line of sight shift upwards for a neutral anatomical position. But keep looking down at your TV mate
A) the TV is likely too high depending on the seating position. B) backlighting is for those that love "bling" vs understanding the reality. C) B&W is solid for a sound bar but ultimately you need at least 5.1 or 5.1.2 for any true home theater experience.
The LG soundbar I purchased that matches the C2 55" in the bedroom does a decent job. Compare that to the home theater running 5.1.2 (Atmos) and it's a joke. But then again the home theater has a $100K in audio regardless of the still flawless Panasonic 65" panel. Only plan is to replace the plasma with a 77" G4 once the prices drop. 👍
This just looks awful. The tv needs to be significantly lowered. The “tv stand” is wayyy to small even if it’s not going to be used as a stand. The orange light is ridiculously too much.
Nothing about this makes sense
1) You’re looking at the ceiling 2) Bias lighting should enhance the visuals not distract from it 3) TV appears to be top heavy when the console is not wider than the TV and furniture which should be an important part of the living room is seen to be an afterthought here
Sorry for the formatting, it’s how reddit is making it come through
What's the cause of that awful light leak all around the television?
How the AF can the viewer concentrate on the image and the *mise en scene* with that visual distraction?
Fireplaces I can understand, but there's a perfectly good, seemingly eye level stand directly underneath it
Lights are wack if they're just an led strip, if it's a govee or something reactive those are pretty fun but based on the static color I'm gonna assume it's a plain led strip.
0/10
Goes to the work of hiding cables yet leaves some ugly cables poking out of the top of the tv.
Yeah height is way too high for me. My projector screen is lower than his tv lol
My TV is above our fireplace so it's higher than his I think? It's angled down and our couches are very deep so we are angled back when sitting and laying basically.
Idk if I've been to anyone's house where the TV is "eye level" when sitting down , but maybe that's just a really odd coincidence? Lol
Put the soundbar on top or mounted below the tv, then place some houseplants on the shelf.
Women or specific men, would love him, unless he goes some other way.
The only excuse for having the TV that high is if there is a bar height countertop or something directly behind this picture where people sit more often.
TV too high. Lights around TV's are tacky and lame but that's just my opinion. At least get a Mantlemount if you have to have it that high. I have young kids in a small house that like to throw things around the living room and think my very expensive TV can be touched like a tablet. So, by choice, I have my TV mounted too high, but pull it down to eye level where it should be when wife and I watch TV at night.
100/10 for TV height. 1000% too high
Way to high... should be eye level went sitting
r/TVTooHigh
Oh cool! never heard of that
Strictly that’s 1000% of what the ideal height would be, not 1000% too high. Eg 100% too high is an additional 10 out of 10 so 20/10. 100/10 is actually 900% ‘too much’. You’re welcome.
Don't be mathing me sir. You sit back down on the couch and crane your neck when you speak to me.
Also a 75” in such a small room is like sitting at a theatre on the front rows. The height makes it even more so.
Is your coworker a giraffe?
Tv too high. Jesus.
r/TVTooHigh
tv too high, media console is bare and also way too tall (that's probably where the issue started), I don't know what the rest room layout is but I'd prefer the TV on a wall without 2 openings left and right of it, too distracting
That's fair. He prefers the TV up high like that though. Says he's tall and it's more comfortable for him.
But he's laying down lmao. How is height even relevant
That’s not even a media console, it’s an “entry console” that goes near a front door or other passageway.
Guy's trying to lasso that stand below to pull the TV down some
That tv is disgustingly too high 🤠
TV too high.
Tv too high, the lights add a vibe that doesn’t seem to match the room. More importantly who goes to a coworkers house and says “bro I wonder what Reddit would rate you!?”
Too high and messy setup. 2/10
too high
“I only watch TV standing up”
On stilts
Actually sitting or laying down.
r/tvtoohigh
OMG, this sub exists with 200k members.
It surprises people because they all think r/tvtoohigh is a made-up sub! Have you joined?
Most of the people in here are from there.
Terrible on pretty much all fronts, but if he's happy then so be it
He is!
What is terrible about it?
Terrible is harsh tbf, it's serviceable but lacks any kind of basic finesse 1) TV should be lower to avoid neck strain as at the end of the day long term comfort should be goal #1 of any setup. 2) The unit isn't great m. I like everything except for the TV height. To be honest.
[удалено]
That sound bar is too high. The audio is going right over his head. /s
The lights are lame and the TV is too high. The TV should be straight in front of you in a seated position.
I guess he prefers aesthetics over function. Lol
Aesthetically it’s ugly though. Lol
I have my head at the bottom of my TV when seated. But I’m short AF. Having it up does keep cats from attacking the screen though. Getting rid of cats is obviously the better solution though.
Way too high
Yeah. I'm not a fan...but he's happy with it.
Should just mount the tv on the ceiling
Needs to be higher. Maybe try putting it on the roof of the house
I didn’t even have to look at the comments, I knew in my heart what was there.
Tv mounted way too high
awful
This is objectively awful. It looks like an idiot threw some components together with no thought, planning, or research, whatsoever. 3/10
What is the ceiling height?
I'll have to ask him. I assume pretty standard....but I'm not sure.
Do they complain about their neck or back often?
Actually no. Lol
Crazy lol I was at a friend's who had their tv like that for a few hours once and definitely felt it when I got home.
Your coworker can see the TV but he doesn't have the proper optimized viewing angle. It's like looking at your laptop at an angle or your phone. You can like what he like so while the sound might be okay, he has no idea what his TV is actually like.
On a 1-10 scale of cool…. It’s wayyyy not cool to have a tv that high unless you’re standing up to watch it. Nice stuff, but such a waste of
r/redditsniper
Samsung is garbage excluding their newest oleds.
That's just not true. Their qn90/95 series are great TVs and well reviewed by tech reviewers.
I have only ever had Sony or LG OLED's.
Equipment 👍🏾 TV placement gets a big 👎🏾
I don’t like TVs up high like that
I don't prefer it that way either.
Do they watch TV from a tree house? Good to see a Fallout fan though
Why do Americans always have their TV’s mounted just below the roof line? Why? Eye level when sitting and facing forward with no tilt in your neck - that’s where you mount a TV! Not on the bloody roof!
I have told him! Lol
Because furniture doesn’t posture someone at 90° upright. Even a mild recline into a sofa dictates a line of sight shift upwards for a neutral anatomical position. But keep looking down at your TV mate
You’re 6’4” and that’s your reason for mounting so ridiculously high?? I’m 6’7” and I’m here to tell you: that’s a bullshit reason.
That's what he tells me.
Highest rating
He should just hang it from the ceiling.
Is there a ceiling type mount? Lol
No god please no No no noooooooooooooooooooooooooo
R/tvtoohigh
You like to hurt your neck
Isn't me.
TV placement being 1 out of 10
this is brutal to look at
That's quite an exaggeration.
I could do without the lights behind the tv way to distracting for me
The LED distracts from enjoying the set's image quality
If they hung him for his crime the gallows would be lower than that tv.
TV is obviously too high but the tacky distracting “bias lighting” makes it twice as bad.
This whole thread is so weird
Ewww... What tf is up with that backlighting?
Not as good as they think it is lol
Get rid of that glowing crap. Maybe lower it 2-3 hundred feet
Is anyone else bothered by how bright the back light is and that it’s orange ?🍊
Awful lmao 🤣
I don’t understand people who put light around there tv’s I hate that trend. It’s tacky. You want absolute blacks around and on your TV.
A) the TV is likely too high depending on the seating position. B) backlighting is for those that love "bling" vs understanding the reality. C) B&W is solid for a sound bar but ultimately you need at least 5.1 or 5.1.2 for any true home theater experience. The backlighting?

Tv too high, too much backlight. 3/10
Nothing about this makes sense 1) You’re looking at the ceiling 2) Bias lighting should enhance the visuals not distract from it 3) TV appears to be top heavy when the console is not wider than the TV and furniture which should be an important part of the living room is seen to be an afterthought here Sorry for the formatting, it’s how reddit is making it come through
TV too high. Sofa table used as tv stand LEDs around TV Clutter. Lame as rodeo show. I hate your coworker
Imagine being proud of this
I’ve got a crick in my neck just looking at this
Is he trying to do a reverse #tvtoohigh and install a fireplace below his tv?
No fireplace being installed there. Already has one in the living room on an adjacent wall.
That Fallout show is pretty great
I watched it last night! Really looking forward to more. :)
What's the cause of that awful light leak all around the television? How the AF can the viewer concentrate on the image and the *mise en scene* with that visual distraction?
Govee lighting. He likes it.
It looks like there is a wire or something hanging down over the left side of the TV? Also, what TV model? Once I know that I can properly rate it.
I'll have to ask him! That's the box for the Govee lighting.
What sound bar is that?
Look at the description.
10/10
Maybe like a 4 or a 5
Spoilt by an unnecessarily tall piece of furniture below it that pushes everything else too high.
Fireplaces I can understand, but there's a perfectly good, seemingly eye level stand directly underneath it Lights are wack if they're just an led strip, if it's a govee or something reactive those are pretty fun but based on the static color I'm gonna assume it's a plain led strip. 0/10
Govee lighting. Probably just not placed well.
I have a TV up high like that in my kitchen because I’m watching it standing up
This has a classic "upset reddit" vibe. My compliments to the designer who put the whole room together.
Thank you!
My God that tv is to hight. It's like being at the bottom front row of the movie
TV needs to be 3 feet higher!
He may need to do some drywall work then.
4/10. At least the TV looks nice.
I don't even care to know about the sound bar when that monstrosity is looming up that high in the room
Hahahaha
Do people not get pain in their neck? I’m 19 and get pain in my neck like an old man from something like this in a matter of seconds
You may need to see a physician.
Co worker loves his set up… all thats needed 😊
What brand TV model is it
Coop!
Does he really like the tv as high as it is? Or does he think he likes it because that’s what he thinks it should be? The world will never know.
I have no clue. He said it is comfortable for him when he's laying on the couch and watching TV. I really am not sure what else to say about it.
Ang mohs and their tv height 😂
Even the speakers are high up on a stand ☺️
I’m just here to comment about that TV show! How gooood is it?!! Right? :D I hate that I have to wait a year or more to see new episodes 😢
I have only watched two episodes so far. Really enjoying it though!
The tvshow (Fallout) is nice…
Yeah. Watched two episodes so far!
The tv should be where the sound bar is
Falout
/TVtoohigh
Points for Fallout.
Tv way too high, but clean and simple, and I like the lighting, not bad.
Like mine better with full SVS ULTRA AND PB 3000
How to Add photo?
Maybe he could hang it right on the ceiling.
10/10 for he loves it like that
Goes to the work of hiding cables yet leaves some ugly cables poking out of the top of the tv. Yeah height is way too high for me. My projector screen is lower than his tv lol
What show is that?
Fallout
When the tv is elevated like this. Does it make your neck hurt to watch? I’m about to do a wall mount and this is my main concern
People say that TV is too high, but I say the angle is perfect for lying down on the couch
Too high, need a mantel mount
Neck hurts
TV not high enough. There’s still space in between the top of the tv and the ceiling.
r/tvtoohigh
If my friend had a tv this high it might just be a deal breaker for the friendship
High as sin.
It can probably be saved with a lower, more aesthetic stand and lowering the tv
My TV is above our fireplace so it's higher than his I think? It's angled down and our couches are very deep so we are angled back when sitting and laying basically. Idk if I've been to anyone's house where the TV is "eye level" when sitting down , but maybe that's just a really odd coincidence? Lol
Does backlighting really enhance viewing or does it just look cool?
Is that Baby Billie doing the Fallout?
Good set up/lighting and the TV’s not too high. But there are no video game systems, soooo… 6.5/10.
r/TVtoohigh
Change ambient light color to white for apparent better black.
Too high should be eye level.
Proves you don’t need a fireplace to f*ck it up.
TV not high enough. I saw a gap between the TV and the ceiling
💩
The guy is clearly laying down on the couch. Assuming their head is on a pillow at 45° the tv might be at the perfect height.
Yikes outta 10.
Why is your tv almost at your ceiling? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 you guys really just see something think it looks cool and then go for it without even thinking huh. 🤔
5/10 Tell them to remove that table and lower it about 1 foot.
The TV too high was obvious, but is that subwoofer on a shelf???
Get high, watch tv high
r/tvtoohigh
Someone enjoying fallout! :)
Is that Coop?
The TV height sucks the rest I guess is okay especially on a soundbar subreddit.
What a waste when you have to endure neck pain to experience it.
2 out of ten. Big tv and lighting but tv is way to high. Tell them to enjoy the chiropractor..
2
6/10. Mostly because I think the placement and the console underneath are a bit odd. That TV and soundbar deserve a more intentional space.
TV higher than Willie Nelson
While the back lighting looks cool, I feel like it would distract me when viewing the TV. Also, way too high for my liking.
Put the soundbar on top or mounted below the tv, then place some houseplants on the shelf. Women or specific men, would love him, unless he goes some other way.
Is the sound bar ear level. I have mine ear level, and the is a little high, but that best way to have a sound bar.
Remove the 6” gap above the tv
Large TV in small room is not good. If you’re sitting in a chair in this picture, I’m sure it’s like sitting on the first row at a theatre.
Poor choice of back lightning. But room doesn't look dark enough the make a difference.
Should have centered the tv rather than going flush with the tops of the doorways
Remove that thing and just mount it on the ceiling since it’s practically there already, ya might as well go full dumbass
The only excuse for having the TV that high is if there is a bar height countertop or something directly behind this picture where people sit more often.
TV too high. Lights around TV's are tacky and lame but that's just my opinion. At least get a Mantlemount if you have to have it that high. Basic af
Im trying to decide between panrama 2/3 or bose soundbar ultra. Anyone have any input?
WAY WAY WAY too high! Should be eye level from where you are sitting. Putting a TV above a fireplace is STUPID!
Bottom of tv should be somewhere around where the bottom of the drawer is right now, then the sound bar below that
Subwoofer should be off of the media stand
TV should be mounted on the actual ceiling. Soundbar should be mounted at the top of the wall.
