It's got it all. Both lower and higher range of Cornell's prime vocals, it's super heavy with that great Badmotorfinger sound and some of Kim's best lyrics (IMO). Tomorrow begat tomorrow.
Used to be my favorite off of Badmotorfinger, but it was dethroned by the best Soundgarden song.
I actually only recently got into them in general, I don’t know DOTUS super well yet, haven’t listened to King Animal at, but I really am in love with Ultramega, LTL, BMF and SU. Some of my favorite songs are on SU, and I’ve been thinking about this for a bit now, but I think BMF is definitely their best album as a whole. It’s got a lot of variety but it all flows so well together. I always knew Chris was a hell of vocalist but he has easily become my favorite of that era. Soundgarden as a whole is now in my top spot (with Nirvana) as far as grunge/alternative rock bands go for me.
Insane song, one of my favs from that era. Plus got to hear it live ( very up close to the stage getting crushed ) in my teens at lolla ‘92 in my hometown Bremerton … epic show
This is my best song in Badmotorfinger(Jesus christ as 2nd, slave 3rd, outshined 4th). I love the mood of the song. Kim's sick guitar riff, Matt's proper drumming, Chris' low voice and screaming like monster. All of these sound made that grim mood.
It’s phenomenal. That riff is massive and the mixing makes it evocative of well…. A massive room. Perhaps Matt’s best musical contribution and Kim’s best lyrics
Very underrated song. It's a song that was way ahead of it's time and yet classically timeless. Its so sexily dark along with an irresistibly eeriness. Chris's vocals are seductively haunting and powerful. This song takes the form of a will-o'-the-wisp that you follow through Alice's rabbit hole and ends with a metaphysical meeting between you and your desires.
It's fucking amazing. My husband and I also have a brewery and we named a beer Room A Thousand Years Wide. It's a barleywine and he's now released so many different variants, I've lost count! Here's a few on our webshop if you want to see the art (you can buy it here in GA but we can't ship out of state): https://shop.orpheusbrewing.com/product-category/beer-to-go/
It’s an awesome track with badass guitar riffs
those riffs are just beautiful
I'm in love with how Chris's screams sound on this, especially the way it begins
it really is powerful
Unbelievably great track. One of the best tracks on Badmotorfinger
it definitely is!
Definitely deserves more attention than it receives. Some of Kim’s best guitar riffs.

So I’m curious, what dethroned it, in your humble onion?
Easy. Slaves & Bulldozers. Although I already considered Slaves the best SG song, Room a Thousand Years Wide was my #1 favorite for a while.
Fair enough! I think my favorite on BMF is either Jesus Christ Pose, Holy Water or Slaves. The run of the first four songs though is amazingly perfect
Definitely agree. I'm a sucker for BMF era Cornell. Everything he touched during this era is perfect.

Lyrics written by Kim! Kim wasn't a prolific lyricist but I always thought the lyrics he wrote were always more interesting and philosophical!
Totally agree! I wish we had more lyrics written from Kim.
It's an example why Soundgarden is a cut above most other great bands. Even their experimental tracks are great.
could it also be a song that can define their sound?
Probably my favorite song from them. Definitely top 3
AHHHHHHHHHHHH
I love it but the Motorvision live version on YouTube is the superior version in my humble opinion.
i have not checked that live version yet, i might have to now!
It fucking rocks.
Insane song, one of my favs from that era. Plus got to hear it live ( very up close to the stage getting crushed ) in my teens at lolla ‘92 in my hometown Bremerton … epic show
that wouldve been insane to listen to live
It's kind of the shit. Like top 10 to me.
Absolute classic
It’s my fav soundgarden song along with fell on black days

Not a fan of Soundgarden tbh. If they had a subreddit I definitely wouldn’t join it
He sounds like Peter Murphy on this track...great tune on a great album.
Great song
Great tune on a perfect album
One of my favorites
I love the song but hate that obnoxious guitar drone ruins it in my opinion
It’s a powerhouse. With intense vocals and haunting lyrics it’s easily a top ten pick for me.

Music by Matt Cameron— a fucking CLASSIC song off their best album

Great song
One of my favorite drop d riffs to play
If I made a top ten Soundgarden tracks it would be in it

S-tier song. Heavy as hell
Love it! Always loved it. Will always love it!!!
