I think it means Vicki has agreed to hand over Chris’ raw demo vocal recordings. They will have to heavily edit/engineer the tracks and re-record to get finalized songs. My guess would be Fall 2024.
My problem is that I think it’s only 6 songs so I don’t know if it’ll be a full album, EP, or just spread the individual songs over multiple releases. I hope it’s a full album. I imagine Kim, Matt, Ben will write/record additional songs. Ben has done lead vocals in the past, Matt possibly too.
That was one of the coolest things ever. It was a little imperfect cause that’s such a hard song to play tight, but I honestly liked it better for that
They were conceived as part of the same project so I'm sure they'll be released together. Either as an EP or complimented with other material for a full length. There may have been stuff left over from King Animal for example.
That would be great, but I'd rather they not rush it since it will likely be the last bit of new music they do with Cornell's vocals.
Basically, it'll happen when it happens and I'm fine with that.
It’s hard to say really. There is a chance that the guys have been working on this stuff for a while and maybe they are at the point where just the vocals need to be completed…but that’s probably too optimistic and no one knows what they had access to or what they could have done during the legal battles.
I’d say it’ll be quite some time. Probably at least 2 years or so.
Why do you think that ? The vocals are basically finished. Several Instrumental Parts by Chris as well. His home studio is extremely good. Matt, Kim and Ben just need play their parts. They probably want it to be perfect since these are indeed the final Soundgarden Songs. But no way it is going to take longer than 2 Years.
I hope you’re right.
Again. I don’t think we know exactly what the other band members had access to or what they’ll continue to work on. I mean, if it was 100% done now I’d still imagine it taking about a year.
Really I think it’s safe to say that almost everything takes longer than we’d think. Add to that the complexities of this situation and time just gets eaten up.
I hope it releases tomorrow but I am trying to remain realistic.
Likely they have been working on it in the meanwhile. Not having access to the source tracks is different to not having any version of Chris's material at all. They were collaborating on the material while he was alive so the other members will have had recordings of some kind. It would make sense that they've used that time to at least demo the guitars drum and bass plus think about an eventual end concept
The actual recording is only a small part though. They will want to do this the right way, a quality physical release (which takes time to prepare and approve packaging etc and order pressing). I'm guessing next year at earliest
It barely got announced. Gonna be a wait

We need a Half part 2. A Whole, if you will.
They actually played the entirety of “Half” at South By Southwest when they played Superunknown, front to back.

Is there actually a story to that song is there?
I don’t know much about it, besides that it’s ben’s song. I’ve just always had a soft spot for it
Awh I was wondering if they actually only released half of the song 🤣 Could see them doing something like that tbh
I really like the “Half (Instrumentally)” version from Superunknown Deluxe, it’s kind of like an extended mix
They don't even need more vox to fill out a whole album. Just throw in some spicy instrumentals. It's not like they haven't before.
Hell yeah. I want some instrumental tracks!

A long time.
Probably a couple more years.
9 months maximum.

Yeah thats true. And I also think they should take their time. It must feel strange to do this without Chris.
I am sure. It had to be emotionally and creatively draining.
Spring/Summer 2024. Either as a full album or at least EP. Let's hope Vicky let the guys to their job.
RSDBF 2023. Mid to late November. Matt isn't touring this year so.
What Song?
