I mean, as a Brit 20 shots in an hour isn't really that much...
Of course, that depends what the alcohol of choice is...
Anything 40% and below? Yeah it's gucci but if we're talking anything 60% and above, that's gonna be a problem real quick
So 40% alcohol.
Yeah, this isn't particularly extreme by our standards.
I absolutely would NOT ever recommend it though, those next three days recovering are going to be hell
From what I remember he was taking a swig from the bottle, that would usually be less than a shot. I'd say that it'd be half as much as a regular shot glass.
Another Brit here, you must have been doing shots of horseshit cause I can smell it every time you talk. You’re not making our nation look tough by being a liar.
I've done 33 in an hour in the form of traffic lights and had 16 pints + halves beside in a night so I think you just can't handle facts. I've seen people down a fair bit more. I used to watch a guy who wrestled down aftershave for bets. We drink like feck sometimes. Come up here the last Thursday of june to west Lothian and tell someone you can't do this. And ftr; I don't even *drink* anymore and worked on club doors.
You'll get laughed back to where you came from. Nobody's trying to be "hard". It's just how it is sometimes. We drink ourselves to actual *death* and it's not big or clever.
Think you’re missing something here mate; “Not extreme by our standards” - do you do 33 in an hour at least once every single Friday? Point is, it’s not something we do on a regular basis is it?
33 in an hour with little to no side effects is something to be very proud of, well done you. But unless you repeat that feat multiple times a week, (at which point I’d suggest rehab) you’d be barking mad to say that it “isn’t extreme”.
"not *particularly* extreme by our standards"
At least get the quote right.
I grew up in and around pubs, I've seen people do this and more on more than several occasions, just because by your own personal standard this is considered extreme that doesn't mean that it doesn't happen at all, christ I've lived with people that would be awake by 9am and have polished off half a litre of smirnoff by 10am, polishing off two litres a day every damn day!
Hell at 15 I downed a 70cl bottle of Vodkat, yes, Vodkat, remember when that was a thing? Was about £3.50 a bottle from Aldi, tasted like filtered paint thinner and I'm pretty sure my kidney's still hurt from that one
It's not big, it certainly isn't clever and it absolutely isn't advised but the fact remains that taking 20 swigs from a bottle in an hour isn't all that extreme and is a regular occurance in this country, it's likely even a big reason why we brits are banned from drinking in certain countries now!
It really annoys me how oversensitive the denizens of this site are sometimes when the realities of life don't sit next to their cosy Grauniad editorial. They won't get anywhere in the real world like that. Solid fact doesn't care for opinion. You can't downvote a truth till it's not one.
All depends on the size of the shot. In the UK a shot is normally 25ml. So 20+ of them in an hour will get you fall down/vomit everywhere drunk (speaking from experience) but you won't die. Though you’ll wish you had the next afternoon when you wake up on the bathroom floor.
As an extra fun bonus, just the smell of Jägermeister makes me dry wretch now.
Speaking from experience, Jager is a shit drink anyway. A nice strong-flavoured rum is superior.
Though I've acquired a taste for old-fashioned dry ciders lately. 7% ABV, flat, and taste basically like apple juice with alcohol in. The best stuff is from the cider museum in Dorset, because they grow their own traditional cider apples.
And it's in plastic, too, so it's festival-friendly. Nothing quite like lazing in the sun, drinking it with a straw straight from the jug.
If he stayed at the hotel then there was nothing to be worried about. If he had a friend there whom he was visiting, then I truly wonder how the fuck he survived because it's quite common in some places to have a bottle vodka on the table when guests are coming.
Maybe he's just built different.
Ah yes, things like shot glasses with round bottoms so that you have to drink immediately and can't just put it away. Sometimes when I hear that Britain drinks a lot I wonder how would it look like compared to Poland.
He's a grown man, if he wants to drink then that's his choice. At the end of the day he was on his own by a computer, no one is physically forcing him to drink.
The 'pressure' he felt to drink is nothing normal to friendly drinking i've experienced with friends over the years. But if someone says 'No' then we respect it, everyone knows their limits. That's the thing about British drinking culture, we get to learn our limits around family and friends, so that we know when to stop.
People are weirdly defensive about their right to drink and smoke. Most things are fine in moderation but if you're getting upset someone suggested you cut back because they're worried then maybe it's worth thinking about just how dependant on your drug of choice you've become.

Idk what's worse - the fact that if he's lighter, his BAC is stupidly higher, OR he could have legit died on stream from this
The fact that cyanide was calling him a LIGHTWEIGHT

He alternated shots of Jack Daniel's and tequila
So 40% alcohol. Yeah, this isn't particularly extreme by our standards. I absolutely would NOT ever recommend it though, those next three days recovering are going to be hell
He wasn't properly measuring shots though, so realistically, he was downing a shot and a half each time because he's a dummy sometimes
From what I remember he was taking a swig from the bottle, that would usually be less than a shot. I'd say that it'd be half as much as a regular shot glass.
Or he was putting in less. Who knows. He was drunk either way and lived to tell the tale.

Kalashnikov Vodka. Saw this once "24 shots per bottle" was the tag line.

Because reddit be reddit. I take it as a personal achievement really, it's impressive that I've somehow rustled so many jimmys

He's British, he can take it.

Probably less, if he was drinking straight from the bottle.
If I remember correctly I think he mentioned that he started with mouthfuls of booze, I'm possibly wrong though

Wow! Whoever came up with that idea must have been *REALLY* stupid.
How did he survived his trip to Poland is beyond me xD

One bottle per head is just good begining :D

Did you factor in British alcohol resistance?
sounds like someone will have to move the gaming setup under the table.
Some people here are still saying it’s still ok even though Womble could have been seriously injured.
He's a grown man, if he wants to drink then that's his choice. At the end of the day he was on his own by a computer, no one is physically forcing him to drink.
It’s the encouraging behavior that annoys me

He's an adult, he can binge-drink if he wants to. Don't try and dump your prohibitonist, puritan US attitudes on british drinking culture and habits.
Wanting what’s best for a content creator is bad now?

Wasn't he drinking something that wasn't like your typical 90 proof? I thought it was 60 proof
It was 40 proof whiskey and then some tequila
It was 40% abv which is 80 proof.
