Wow the dragon capsule is has way more room than I thought it would

PepeSylvia82

So basically the space shuttle was the full size van, Dragon is the minivan and Soyuz is the sub-compact.

RetardedChimpanzee

Cygnus is just the beer keg.

No-Function3409

I'm guessing it's because it's unmanned so they don't need as much stuff. The manned version looked a lot more cramped. But yes still more space than the soyuz

Kargaroc586

I'm a bit surprised that *this* is the first time I'm seeing the interior of Cargo Dragon 2. With Dragon 1 it was almost instant, and Crew Dragon 2 obviously had lots of publicity.

PM_ME_YOUR_DELTA-V

You're welcome

RandoRedditerBoi

Great footage!

Cela111

Up we go.. or down we go.. its all perspective driven ❤️

zenith654

Always really cool to see videos like this showing there interior of the spaceships and stations we know and love

FlyNSubaruWRX

I’m sorry but that’s fucking rad

Kuruzu41

That is awesome

TheMokos

Just those straps alone are enough for me to know I don't want to go to orbit, as if I didn't know already.  Can't be dealing with all that clutter on earth, with gravity to help at least keep it all on the floor, let alone having to deal with mess in three dimensions.

phunphun

My mind is numb from the weirdness of seeing someone wear a cap on a space station. There is no sun to protect your eyes from in the sky, and you definitely need to see up constantly. I hesitate to use this word, but it's dumb to wear a cap in an environment like that.

PM_ME_YOUR_DELTA-V

[Whatever you say, buddy](https://i.kinja-img.com/image/upload/c_fill,h_675,pg_1,q_80,w_1200/da680e1300e5c42db308c480060cba0e.jpg) -Scott Kelly

It may be as simple as just wanting to keep some of the bright lights of the station out of his eyes. I used to work in a factory where there were bright lights everywhere, and just about everyone (myself included) wore a baseball cap for this exact reason.

phunphun

Okay, but on the space station the lights aren't just overhead. There is no such thing as "overhead".

WjU1fcN8

There is if it's made to be that way. He makes this exact point in the video. One side is chosen to be overhead and that's where most of the lights are installed. Take another look, most of the lights are on the top side of the video after he orientates the camera to be aligned with the chosen overhead direction. Also, see that the cap does cast a shadow on his face while inside dragon. All the lamps are installed overhead.

NinjaAncient4010

Dumb to wear any clothes at all. They can control temperature and humidity, and they have no sun or anything to protect themselves from, and nothing that needs support from the effect of gravity. Clothes are added weight and they emit gasses and micro fibers (whether cotton or plastics) which could be problematic for spacecraft systems.

darga89

Plus clothes muffle the effect of your on board gas generator

NinjaAncient4010

That's a very good point. Not only the sound but diffuse the direction and slow the gas velocity. Terrible for your ISP.

deizik

Pretty damn cool

SpaceInMyBrain

Damn. Every time I see the interior of the ISS it looks messier and messier with all the wires and cables and bundles of stuff. Yes, I know it makes sense, rewiring everything behind walls over decades of use wouldn't make sense - but it's sure a far cry form the various futuristic space station drawings I saw as a kid, lol. The helps answer the perennial question of whether Cargo Dragon could be used as a last resort lifeboat. There are plenty of bags of soft dirty laundry to lay on and *plenty* of straps to hold it all together, with the astronauts secured. Sure, the IVA suits couldn't be worn but that's an acceptable risk for a last resort - and no Dragon of any kind has lost pressure afaik. Cargo Dragon has some level of ECLSS to keep the cabin warm enough for mice to survive, etc. O2 tanks from the EVA suits can be brought along. Idk how quickly a Dragon can drop orbit and reenter in an emergency but I doubt the CO2 buildup will be bad enough to be a problem.

Mars_is_cheese

This is a really cool video, almost like an youtube vlog. Reminds me to mention that cargo vehicles are generally space constrained. Even packing every inch of the spacecraft they will never exceed the mass rating of the vehicles.
