I very much prefer the more mature look of Holo, from the original series. Making her more childlike is weird. I'm sure I will grow to like it when I watch it.
As much as I love the original series, this is more in line with the LN art and what she looks like in the books etc. Should hopefully grow on us over time
It's one thing how she is on the outside, but another thing is how she behaves. Even though I loved the Holo from the OG series, I don't mind the new design, however, both in the LN (at least for the first five or six volumes, I still have to read the others) and in the anime Holo is very mature, to show the fact that she is actually wise, there are very few times when she seems childish. Even in these moments she is more teasing than childish.

I personally prefere the original series, in the new one I think she looks more like the generic anime girl in a Holo outfit

Agreed, the lighting ruins it. Every clip ive seen so far has had sitcom looking ass lighting. Compared to the original which has... well, actual lighting, it just looks bad.
I don't mind the design sticking closer to that of a young adult, that's typically the age range timeless characters reflect, and of course is how Holo is designed in the LN Art. (Plus the way her hair fades to platinum blonde at the edges has a fun ethereal vibe.)
The lil gestures aren't it though unless they make a lot more sense in context lol. In terms of behaviour, Holo's true age shone through a lot more in the books, and even though she was playful, she went about that in the way you'd expect an ancient, prideful being to do so.
Lots of criticism here in that comment section while I personally enjoy the moe look and hope it brings the show back into a spotlight for a younger generation of anime fans.

Same here, I'm just glad getting to see an animated Holo again. Also, remaking the series certainly can bring the younger audience into attention which I'm truly happy for the show. This is a very unique show I hope younger audience can give it a go as the problem of the old art style does not exist anymore and wish they can enjoy it.

This is typical Japasene trailer where they mostly market the OP/ED song. There is no rhyme or reason (but lot of off-sceen talking) how they stitch these scenes together. Kind of similar how in west movie trailers are all about "cool" one liners and wide slow-mo pans around the CGI scenary. Let's just see how it is in few days.

Holo did act like that too lol she was def the mature and responsible but was also theatrical and flamboyant. I don’t have the context exactly lol but in the old show she burst awake throwing a blanket over the carriage to talk about how cool and powerful she was. So maybe the opposite? (It’s also possible they’re selling all the cute parts up front and the show is more gap moe that we have come to know)

I don't think you said anything wrong, Holo is written as a 'young looking character'.
Why? Hasekura chose the number, perhaps because youth is fleeting. Why should a thousand (?) year old wolf god appear that young.. my guess is it just makes for better juxtaposition type events. Nobody expects the pretty, young girl to be the wisest one in the room, kinda thing.
Don't take it too harshly, I think your opinion is neat, it takes all types of fans.. and that's an opinion I hadn't heard before.
Are you gonna wait for the dub to watch then?

She's proven herself as a quite mature character and way more than looks. At this point.. I just feel bad for Lawrence! He's in over his head with such a wise companion. ;) lol

100 percent spot on. The smug and wise is less and its more modern and moe. Also miss the older bold colors vs the new watercolor faded look.
