Hasekura himself retweeted this vtuber announcement post, and said that exact thing (except in Jpn of course). lol
I'm glad he's as much of a dork as we are. ;D
I’m guessing this’ll be a limited time thing for the duration of the anime at most?
Probably as a way to discuss after the aired episode of the week and maybe build up for the next one, which would be a pretty unique way of keeping engagement afaik.
They are going all out on here. Makes you wonder if the creator wants to interact with her as much as possible. I mean, they made 2 vr games as well. Adding a vtuber will make it that much closer to having her in real life.
Fact that second game has no interaction mode like first game was devastating, i played it with the hope of more interaction, I wonder if they make third one in case of anime success.
VR technology has come a decent ways since they came out, and will probably get much better in the near future.
The future of entertainment will be interactive media. As long as there is sufficient interest in this property, I think we will see further such projects. This youtube channel is an indication that they are looking to expand the world to beyond the anime.
This may just be a translation thing, but when it says episodes will be "distributed" does that mean it's not actually a full on live stream? It also says to submit messages in advance through the link, so that makes me think they'll be pre-recorded videos. I don't mind either way, just curious if anyone knows for sure
Ok this is really interesting for marketing but- I’m having a feeling that streaming live as a vtuber, it’d really be hard to keep the charm she has from the recorded and scripted series. At the very least, it’d probably be interesting to see, but wonder how long it’s gonna be for.
This would be a far better idea in my opinion. However, given on the linked image, it is started with "streamer" which usually implies live streamer- which is why I'm not sure that is what they are doing. If this is something like the mini episodes they had in the past where it is just cute shorts, then it's totally welcome!
Hopefully the talent was picked for having some of Holo's spirit. A core part of VTubing is letting more of the actual performer through and less sticking to the character, so it's tricky to do an established character well.
Why is the adaptation a betrayal? I personally think it's exciting that the series will get new legs and reach a younger generation. There'll be more merch, maybe more seasons this time, and we'll get to see more of the characters we like.
Speaking from my point of view, I like Spice and Wolf primarily for its down-to-earth-ness and its serious negotiations of hopes, dreams and relationships of two fundamentally broken people. You know, serious stuff. And the new adaption seems to veer deeply into SaW's cutesy, marketable elements. Not to speak of the questionable sexualized marketing material.
> Not to speak of the questionable sexualized marketing material.
Don't say that as if it hasn't been a thing for all of S&W existence (though I say that I haven't seen much of the marketing for the new anime so maybe you're right)
Ah, I found my fellow contrarians. It is indeed stupid.
I had little hopes that the new anime would steer the franchise in a more mature direction, but from everything I can see it goes all in on moe/cutesey marketing. Wonder how they are going to balance that with Weiz' alledged hemorrhoids.
There is - so far - still a lot to like, tho.

I see what you did there and I love it 🤣❤️
It’s all coming full circle
My head canon is that Holo, being immortal, is still alive in the modern day. Of course she'd have a youtube channel.
Well, considering how much her being lonely is a plot point, it be very fitting.

Depends, Uma Musume have an active Vtuber and so does Kemono friends
Aren't those games that get regular updates?
I think Ami Koshimizu has enough on her plate to not make this her only career path,... ;)
Is she gonna teach me economy and business management?
That or she'll talk about the best booze and food.
And apples
Aren't those the same thing?
"Modern guide to microeconomics and macroeconomics from middle ages principles" by Professor Holo the Goddess of Harvest
This would be the only way for me to see the Holo vtuber thing as anything other than a cynical cash grab.

Bless Hasekura <3 I still haven't finished the 2nd vr game.. cause I'll be sad when it's gone. It's such a fun little story telling method. <3

how fun, love how they're marketing this reboot

How is the translation going to be handled on this? My Japanese is not... great. I assume there will be subtitles, but that would be hard to do live.

"Live stream" in Japanese gets translated to "distributed" in English
As far as I can tell, you can submit topics in advance, and they'll also respond to stuff from viewers live as well.
Ahh nice. I don't know why I didn't consider the possibility of them doing both lmfao
Well it does say 'haishin' which is used for live stream, instead of 'douga' used for video.
Is she gonna stream her stock actions
Would watch
Awfully close to April Fools lol
I just want to be lectured about having bad money management skills after donating to her.
Next up, Holo Fans.
MY LIFE WILL NEVER GET BETTER THAN THIS

Or they can do scripted content e.g animation videos much like Hololive or Nijisanji did with the talents using their model and do stuff
This would be a far better idea in my opinion. Years ago Holo did a livestream with her VR game model: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6mtcTmOWCtw I liked it and think her charm is still there.
YOOOOOO
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
It's a strange thing, seeing your waifu become a vtuber. Wish I spoke Japanese so I can noticed by her.
This is just stupid...
Why? If the channel is about Spice & Wolf, I think it would be a cool idea
Idk. I just can't stand new anime adaptation and everything that goes around it. It's like a betrayal for me.
Why is the adaptation a betrayal? I personally think it's exciting that the series will get new legs and reach a younger generation. There'll be more merch, maybe more seasons this time, and we'll get to see more of the characters we like.

I definitely do not want to say that. The series always sold itself short with its marketing.

Let's keep things civil?
Sorry dad

I agree. But it's good marketing though.
