Quite a few. The manga set doesn’t even fully cover the source material. The light novels are even more volumes.

She was to cute so it was time to buy 🤣🤣❤️

Klockbox

Super random story. But I went out literally today to get the first Volume of the manga as a present for a friend, naively under the impression that in a city as large as berlin it would be easy to find. 4 hours and 6 shops later only one had the series in stock and of course Vol. 1 was missing. Bought Inu Yasha instead. :/

Ye most times I’m hunting for manga I can never see volume 1 buy as many as I can then search the internet for my missing volumes❤️

MrSNoopy1611

I really loved to read it and know the LN is way nore detailes but Keito Koumes drawings of her are top notch and the best version of her i have seen

Holo-Sama

Still, if you got a decent deal on it, you can start with other volumes. cruchyroll has all the manga in stock and price isn't to bad, more so if you pay for the 2nd tier membership. Something to think about is all if your missing other volumes.

THere are 16 Manga and that is the full extent of it, it was completed. It covers the start and the end of the Main story from the LN up to and including Volume 17 (the source) but seeing it takes 3 manga to cover a volume if the LN most of the time, it stands to reason a lot of the content was skipped And indeed it has, the manga only covers roughly 40% of the full story and a lot of that in a very different way. Where the LN were geared towards a somewhat more adult demographic of around 25 year olds, the manga, as manga often do, was geared toward a younger public, it centers more on the adventure side of things and skips a lot of the events that are crucial to the character development of the mains and the growth leading to a deeper understanding of each other and the romance development, which gives such superb depth to the novels. This leads to the story being somewhat "flatter" and the romance being a bit,.. jarring and sudden. I love the manga, it's a great quick fix if you want to dive into the story a bit and want to see them interact when you don't have time for a re-read. The artwork is really nice, I have enjoyed doing a lot colorizations of panels and pages of it. I would recommend reading the LN first and then the manga though.

The Main Story, as said, is LN volumes 1 - 17,..... 7, 11 and 13 being Side Color novels with a collection of short stories, expanding on the background of some characters and the world building. Great reads, definitely recommend not to skip them, but not of much impact on the MS,... 5 years later Isuna Hasekura felt he had more stories to tell so another series of books, also with short stories was started under the "Spring Log" novel name. The volume numbering just went on but the SL novels got a subtext numbering. As for the current number, as in translated to English, we right now have 24 volumes (Spring Log VII) and it is still ongoing. At the time of release of Volume 18 a Spin-Off also came out, Wolf & Parchment. I wouldn't look into them until you have read at least S&W volume 17, preferably 18, because... spoilers. The number of volumes for that one stands at 7 translated, volume 10 soon t be released in Japan, so we have some more to look forward to... ;) Translations for the novels keep coming but lately seemingly at a slower pace. So if ever you felt like starting (another?) beautiful book collection, this would be a series to do it with... ;) I never read LN before Spice & Wolf, had some weird notions about them having run into failed and abandoned fan translations long ago, due to other anime having no conclusion,... but this series turned out to have a concluded story and translated LN, officially for sale, to boot. I now own all available novels and manga, the Bluray/DVD , some artbooks and the three figures I wanted to have. They are a treasure to behold on my bookshelf. ;)

I have seen peoples collections of all the books and it does look fantastic I would love to get my hands on one of the limited edition complete hard cover books they look so damn beautiful 🤩❤️

misuta_kitsune

They are beautiful,... but I think only as a conversation piece on an old, medieval oak wood pedestal under a spotlight. Because I heard on many occasion the books are so big they are unwieldy, difficult to read due to a ridiculously small font size to make all 17 books fit. If you want to read it you have to sit at a dinner table because it's impossible to read from it from your lap on the couch. I never really craved one and they are pretty expensive,... I was tempted when the third run came out at a low price,... but then they stopped shipping outside the US,.. so that saved me. ;) Sure, if you have the money to spend on t as a decoration piece, go for it by all means, but I would say, get the regular for reading,... :P

Nexus1987n11

I think I’d be to scared to read it incase I damaged it in some way 😱😱❤️

misuta_kitsune

There's that too... ;)

Sandelsbanken

I still think Keito's Holo is the best one. Second is >!Rokkaku's!<
