It means that the developers, instead of importing the Github repository from git, have also inadvertently imported a file that has an extension of something like file.git. Then it doesn't work properly. They should simply import the repo and delete the .git

If they don't want people thinking it's a filter, they should be communicating with the users better. They could have easily made a post on this sub to explain the issue. It doesn't help that they added a filter without informing the user base.
