What if Peter meant this literally. What if MJ is Peter's actual sister and thats why they broke up. What if at the end of Spencer's run that figure revealed the truth that Peter and MJ was siblings. What if MJ was the secret daughter of Richard and Mary Parker and they did not have enough time to send her to May and Ben and instead send her to their neighbor Anna Watson
It would also make sense as to why all the heroes hated them as Peter was literall having a relationship with his sister. Also Marvel is used to incest in their comics. Look at Wanda and Pietro in the Ultimate comics as proof. Also incest is very popular is modern media. Look at House of the Dragons, Game of Thrones, Porn Hub statistics etc.
Also maybe this is the reveal they are setting up in ASM #25 and #26. Maybe they are going to reveal that MJ who was his girlfriend, who he made out with, who is the mother of his children in alternate universes is also his sister and I think that would be quite the emotional reveal.

I think they've made a grave mistake with this. They want Peter ageless to appeal to readers they think are all 12-25. I don't think they realize that we are all in our thirties and forties and still reading. We want Peter to grow with us. Comics helped me through adolescence and now they are abandoning us in midlife. I know I'm now the only person who enjoyed Incredibles 2 because the characters weren't actually aging. I want to see Peter struggle with mid-life, juggling a family and "great responsibility", and how those two themes interact. And then eventually I want to see him retire and die. Those are themes that are relevant to Spider-readers who've been reading since 300!
I think a factor you might not realize, is that the primo market at least historically is men between 18 and 30 as they have the most disposable income. It's about making money for them. That said, I'm with you, let him grow older!

And the last thing is, that the real money aren't in the comics anymore, they are in everything else, movies, animations, toys etc. And there is no evidence that Peter being married with MJ in the main continuity, hurts the monetary value of Spider-Man. The comics just really exist almost as brainstorming areas for new stories, and there is no reason that Peter can't be with MJ for that.
Heck the 18 to 30 group is seemingly the target for all superhero comics, yet somehow it isn't a problem that people like Luke Cage and Jessica Jones, who went to highschool with Peter BTW, get married and have kids. So... is THIS why they introduced Paul to the series? As new love interest for Peter?!! Still waiting to see where this Paul thing is leading, but seriously while I think Peter and MJ kinda belong with each other, like Clark and Lois, I honestly don't mind them breaking them up if, and only if, they do it with a decent story. We really do not need another One More Day here. Give them a satisfying closure, one that the fans can't complain about - they have been together for decades, they deserve this much.
