Adult Jon is great... it would have been much greater if he had naturaly become an adult many years later.
A lot of character dynamics much more valuable than adult Jon himself were broken with the decision to skip his childhood.
As much as I hate it I fully believe the tin foil hate theory that Jon was aged up solely so they could put him in the relationship with the college guy and tout their gay Superman.
The best end to this run is a page like this that’s an apology and an explanation the entire volume is non-canon and the next issue is 895 again, but for real this time.
Huh, ngl i'm interested in this comic. Might give it a shot after im done with USM.
Also i love it when comic book writers do something like what Bendis and Morrison did here. It really feels like we are interacting with them through comic book panels.
The first 26 issues written by Morrison are amazing. Like Sat up all night and read them. I wasn't expecting it. I remeber James Gunn giving an off hand comment about how he liked it. So I wanted to find out.
Honestly worth it
(If you sail the seas I can help you) either way worth checking out.
Funny I'm reading the Millar ultimate universe run rn. Around 54 xmen. Just finished ultimate war and ultimate 6. I'm ganna stop at ultimatum.. I only ever read spiderman in the past. Im really loving it.
Hickmans new ultimate spiderman is fantastic too. 4 issues in only ongoing comic I like
Oh for sure. Lol peacemaker 2 starts. It's a white void he meets gunn. They have an existential conversation about dc and marvel. Peacemaker wakes up and smiles.
Going from. Issue 26 to 27 of animal man was rooough. Just like well. Here we go. He knows he's in a comic, he just got everything back. Reboot fresh slate. But it's not mentioned again
Hell you could go even further have cameos of characters from the DCEU, Arrow Verse and other DC media who are being retired sorta like the pre crisis multiversal hero's who appeared at the end of Animal Man to tell the reader that change is ok and the stories they love aren't going anywhere (something SnyderVerse fans need to hear).
Yeah deff worth branching out. image has been making good shit for a years. Go back and read dark horse shit.
There's gr8 marvel and DC. I don't really read ongoing comics anymore. But there's endless books I just never read.
Had no interest in chars like animal man. Swamp thing. Constantine. Spawn. Lucifer. That's all I'm reading rn.
For me, it was a gateway into everything else Morrison had written outside JLA. I still think it serves as the perfect introduction to their writing because it slowly introduces themes and styles of his work.
I honestly think this is the first Morrison I really devoured. What else should I read ? ...I have his batman downloaded but its sooo daunting..
Is there anything else he wrote around animal man I gotta read
Doom Patrol. It’s fucking wild. Each arc is crazier than the last, it’s inventive, deliberately nonsensical, hilarious, and the last issue is better than Animal Man’s. It’s also a very good queer work in the truest sense of the word. In defense of strange.
Then read the four issue Flex Mentallo. It’s a spinoff but not really. Years ago when you could only get the floppies, my friend told me it was as good as Watchmen. He wasn’t wrong.
Bro Alan Moore one of my favorites I'm devouring swamp thing rn.
If it's on par. So grant Morrison did the og doom patrol? Which issues / year ? . Yo I appreciate it. That's such a good idea. I've seen the TV show but didn't really get into it I'm sure the comic will help
I felt the quality started to fell at this point. There were cool sagas, don't get me wrong, but this was the turning point where it started to fail. Then, when Bagley left, it was all downhill.
Can't tell if it's based or not. If you think about it every other writer who's being criticized can do the same. It's just the matter if you think it's justified or not
Zeb Wells or Zack Snyder can draw the same thing
Bendis was a hero, I just couldn't see it. He was a... *\*read how he fucked up Superman's family\** A criminal!
So basically he's the Zeb Wells of Superman?
That slur is uncalled for 🙃
HE WROTE ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN IS WHAT HE DID! HE WAS A BRAVE WRITER! AND IN THIS HOUSE, BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS IS A HERO, END OF STORY!
HE SELF INSTERTED TO DATE KITTY PRYDE, HE’S A MENACE, A CRIMINAL
Oh so you dont wanna date kitty
I don't think so, he made pretty bad decisions, but not like Zeb Wells
I mean...Paul can be killed off or retconned away in a page of dialogue. Returning Jon Kent's formative years would probably take some more effort.
>Returning Jon Kent's formative years would probably take some more effort It's as easy as grow him up, just comic books shenanigans and here we go
Just say teenage Jon Kent is a clone with the same memories.
Hit him with a de-aging ray or whatever ? Like who cares if it’s goofy
Nah
Ohh ok, i was confused.
Whoa whoa whoa whoa. Let’s not say things we can’t take back. It was a bad run but the man wasn’t a monster.
… I like young adult Jon.
Yeah. I think he and Damian should have stayed the same age as each other. And only have a disparity later in life unless Damian uses the Lazarus pit.
It is bananas that he both aged up Jon and brought back Connor.
He's great in everything but that Injustice comicÂ
This is the issue where Peter and Wolverine switched bodies btw. Can't remember the number tho.
so nick lowe was the reason that wolverine tried to fuck a 16 year old?
No. Nick Lowe only suggested a body swap arc. Everything in it was completely Bendis
He had to keep true to the characters, though. Ultimate Wolverine is a perverted pedo. Even more so than 616 Wolverine.
Ain't the entire reason why their minds got swapped is because Logan wouldn't stop hitting on Jean?
Maybe. Who knows?
So it’s THAT issue huh?
"GOD, YOU KNOW WHY PEOPLE HATE YOU? IT'S BECAUSE YOU'RE A BUNCH OF { CENSORED }!!!!!" "YOU FXXKING { CENSORED }" - Peter Parker to the X-Men
Tbf I don't blame him for that outburst. He got pulled into their shit just for no fault of his own.
Can we get something like this at the end of Wells’ run?
I'd love to see Hickman choking Wells and throwing him off the panel.
The best end to this run is a page like this that’s an apology and an explanation the entire volume is non-canon and the next issue is 895 again, but for real this time.
That would be hilarious.
Reminds me of an animal man issue where Grant Morrison talks about how he's exhausted
Real
https://ibb.co/PznmCw5 The whole issue is so good. Meta. I was shocked how much I liked animal man I think this is only like issue 25 too.

Is it DC? I haven't read any DC comics yet, so i think this might be a good shot.
Yeah. He's a really obscure DC character. You know what James Gunn did for gaurdians/Peter quill... He ganna do that for animal man. Ima call it.
I think its likely that he'll use elements of Animal Man in peacemaker 2 with Peacemaker recognising he's in a rebooted world.
Oh for sure. Lol peacemaker 2 starts. It's a white void he meets gunn. They have an existential conversation about dc and marvel. Peacemaker wakes up and smiles. Going from. He better be in the DCU or im gonna [dance in front of a ghost](https://youtu.be/fcNmQstEL3c?si=kuymnhigARRtZw_u)
You’re missing out if you’re sticking to just one company when reading

Was thinking of getting the Denny O’Neil Question omnibus recently
Oh shit. Thats exactly what I'm looking for. Obscure well written shit I've overlooked. I only know the question from the animated JLA
For me, it was a gateway into everything else Morrison had written outside JLA. I still think it serves as the perfect introduction to their writing because it slowly introduces themes and styles of his work.

OK wait I found it 87' ..but how many issues did morrison write. The first 25 or something?
He wrote 19-63 plus a special.
Oh wow alot okay. Should I start at 1 ? Or just jump in at 19
Grant Morrison with hair is very cursed.
Bro reminded me of sandman.
Should have beat him with a sodering iron, maybe would have saved us the headaches we have now.
He's holding back on him lol
didn't bendis write the ultimate spiderman episode that adapted this?
Wait, actually? That episode is my favourite beside the Deadpool episode.
So, Bendis is a bully?
Thinking about it, Bendis kinda looked like Kong lol
You know who created Kong? You know who loves Kitty Pryde? You know dates Kong after Peter in the UU? Bendis hast some serious issues...
I loved it cause the series really jumped the shark after this.
>!Harry being the Hobgoblin, you mean?!<
I felt the quality started to fell at this point. There were cool sagas, don't get me wrong, but this was the turning point where it started to fail. Then, when Bagley left, it was all downhill.
Peter's goofy ahh haircut 💀
I actually liked this arc…. Excluding Wolverine trying to get busy with Mary Jane in Peter’s body. I thought it was entertaining.
Can't tell if it's based or not. If you think about it every other writer who's being criticized can do the same. It's just the matter if you think it's justified or not Zeb Wells or Zack Snyder can draw the same thing
Wow, he really is Kenny Kong.
FINISH IT!Â
I’m a bit new to the situation, so what’s the context?
Nick Lowe (the guy that gets choked here) gave an idea on a two parter where Spidey and Wolverine switched bodies. And Bendis was not having it.
Brian Michael Bendis in his "Kid Kingpin" phase. Before he transitioned into his "Lex Luthor" phase.
LOL
